It’s been a while since I have done a Below Deck Down Under Recap. I feel like we are getting kind of burned out on all the Below Deck spinoffs and just waiting for Captain Lee to get back on our TVs. My exclusive source says that may not happen on the first few episodes. But still, we would be back with the original. I don’t anticipate y’all being happy with how the show starts off. Also, a lot of you watched this on Peacock already. But anyway, I am trying to get back into the swing of recapping. And I’m still awake and the rerun is done, so let’s give it a try, even though I’m still under the weather.
Puke, But No Rally
Is this the season finale? The beginning makes it seem that way. This means the original Below Deck will be back soon. YAY! There maybe one more after this because this is episode 17 and there are usually 18 I think. They are starting with a recap of the whole season so who knows? It is the last day of charter, so maybe this is it? Anyway we stop with the crew and guests in a hurry to get back to the boat after spending too much time at the beach, the tide has gone out.
The crew still has a Mardi Gras party, a vow renewal, a scuba trip and a gay pride celebration. YIKES! What a busy last day! They start with the scuba trip, but some are still too drunk from the night before to do it. We have pukers on the boat. This does not help my nausea, I am trying to keep some broth down! LOL. I cannot believe that Bennie survived the whole season.
On To The Vow Ceremony
I think we have all come to the conclusion that the captains on these charters are never thrilled to have to officiate a wedding or a vow renewal. But, Captian Jason puts his best foot forward and gets it done. Oh it is a lesbian couple. I forgot about that. I also think I missed a couple of episodes. It was short but very sweet. So we move right into the Mardi Gras event. While the guests and crew prepare for the party, Captain Jason is trying desperately to no avail to get to the Philippines to see his daughter who he hasn’t seen since Covid started.
The Mardi Gras choices are… um…odd. Culver is reintroducing his “Keith Stone” persona. Why? Bennie and maybe a guest tried to tangle with a gas bbq grill and the bbq grill one. They got caught in a fire ball, but it seem like minor injuries. These weird outfits though! It’s like Mardi Gras meets Gay Pride, and not in a good way. I think I have worn out this DVR. It keeps getting stuck. I need to go exchange it for a new one. But, that would require leaving the house and I feel like I have done that much too much lately. Plus even though I am down to two Anthony Bourdain shows, I hate to give them up.
It’s Time To Party Like It’s 1984
Why is Culver getting wasted with the charter guests? Does he feel like he has nothing to lose on the final charter? Captain Jason calls him to the bridge. The captain is oddly very polite about and and sends him to bed because he has a 6:30 wake up call and he tells him to stop drinking. Captain Lee would have probably called a water taxi and given him a plane ticket home. Captain Jason tells us in confessional he didn’t want to make a big deal in front of the guests so he will handle it tomorrow.
While Culver passes out for the night, everyone else is up cleaning up after the party and getting the boat ready for breakfast. Everyone else goes to bed and gets up early to set up for breakfast. The stews already have the tables set for breakfast when Aesha gets up. Culver is still in bed. He should not get a tip. The guests LOVE breakfast. Captain Justin let’s Brittini drive the boat a little bit. She was thrilled. The crew leaves.
The Final Team Meeting
Before we even get to the team meeting Culver gets called to the bridge. He seems a bit annoyed by it like he is being picked on. LOL. Captain Jason says they are only allowed one drink and he was drinking all night. He points out that is a safety issue. And it is very disrespectful to the captain. He says if the season was not over he would be fired. But they hug it out.
Somehow, Bennie gets the helmet for the week? Tumi and Aesha are so cute together. Brittini still has a crush on Culver. Um, why? The crew goes out for a night on the town. Or a day out on the town, it’s still early and they are at some sort of resort for dinner on their final night. Dinner looks amazing. As I am typing that one of the guys says the same thing. Captain Jason joins them and tells Brittini that she is for sure someone with a future in yachting Culver, Bennie and Jamie are excluded from this compliment and it pisses Jamie off. He just doesn’t get it. Jamie goes back to the boat and the rest go clubbing.
At Da Club
Everyone is all keyed up to go out and get wasted on their last night. Jamie is sour about feeling disrespected by Captain Jason. Where is the lie? He wasn’t a very good bosun. Oh it looks like Below Deck Adventure starts next Tuesday. It looks interesting. The crew leaves the club and and heads back to the boat. They are all wasted. Taylor accidently spilt Jamie’s drink and he went off on her. This leads the girls in their van to talk about what a dick he is. Even sweet Tumi says she has been saying this from day one, “He speaks to people like shit!”
Back on the boat, Jamie is raging. Tumi tells him to shut the fuck off. That shocks me and is also amazing. It takes a lot to piss Tumi off. Eventually, they all go to bed. Jamie seems to be having a pity party of one in his bunk. The next morning everyone gets up to pack and half of them are still drunk. Jamie is still pissed at the captain. Everyone gets their luggage, says goodbye to the captain and their coworkers and leaves the boat. Captain Jason says kind things to everyone, especially Tumi and Brittany. Captain Jason even complimented Jamie.
Two week later, Captain Jaimie is finally reunited with his daughter in the Philippines. And that wraps the season.
