Jen Shah Has Taken A Plea Deal

July 11, 2022 by tamaratattles 42 Comments

UPDATE! Jen Shah Apologizes to her family in new statement.

11:30 AM PT — Jen’s attorney, Priya Chaudhry, stated, “Ms. Shah is a good woman who crossed a line. She accepts full responsibility for her actions and deeply apologizes to all who have been harmed. Ms. Shah is also sorry for disappointing her husband, children, family, friends, and supporters. Jen pled guilty because she wants to pay her debt to society and put this ordeal behind her and her family.”

UPDATE 2:

When asked what she did, Shah responded, “Wire fraud, offering services with little to no value. We used interstate telephones and emails. I knew many of the purchasers were over the age of 55. I am so sorry,” according to Matthew Russell Lee of Inner City Press.

She also admitted she knew what she was doing was “wrong and illegal.”

My brain is mush but the bullet points seem to be she has to repay $6.5 million to the federal government immediately. Then, there is another 9 million in restitution. She will probably be sentenced to between 13 to 14 years. She is scheduled to be sentenced in November I think. Merry Christmas!!

Ron Richards is reporting on this. I’m going to attach his tweets below.

Here is the forfeiture order just entered. Jen Shah has to immediately pay this judgment and if she doesn´t, the govt can conduct discovery as to her remaining assets, & garnish her wages RHOSLC. This includes any community property with Coach Shah. Where is the Shah Squad w/ $? pic.twitter.com/PbRdsSlsqJ

— Ronald Richards (@RonaldRichards) July 11, 2022

This tweet was pretty accurate back in December 2021 when we said 13 to 17. She cant appeal so long as the judge sentences under 14 years. We hit the median without all the facts. She was lucky for the small reduction for pleading guilty today the week before the trial. https://t.co/taxgbeP5Ta

— Ronald Richards (@RonaldRichards) July 11, 2022

Guideline stipulation: 168 months in prison
Forfeiture stipulation: $6 million
Restitution: $9 million
This means she gives up $6m in any claim on assets already seized and when she gets out, she has to pay another $9 million. This shows how substantial her wire fraud was.

I’ll be making another quick post about Erika next.  Also, thanks to those who emailed me about this story. BUT PLEASE SITE YOUR SOURCES WITH A LINK!  And Send to email not to comments. I’m going to be resting my back for the next couple of days so off and on online. Also, recaps are less likely to happen at the severe storms have zonked my TV and I lost all my recorded programs as well as my ability to record news ones. A guy is supposedly coming tomorrow.

Jen Shah must have been delusional when she initially plead innocent. Now, it’s time to pay the piper!

Erika Jayne better be looking over her shoulder….she might be next!

I think she was just playing a game of chicken and was going to see who could blink first…she or the feds? The feds must have shown their hand. She wasn’t going to admit to anything unless she had to.

She knew she was going down. Lawyer were bargaining for a plea deal the whole time. It could have been worse.

Am I correct in saying the plea deal was for wire fraud but not money laundering too?
I think the years would have been more like 20 if she went to court and was guilty of those charges as well.

Yes yes yes! Jen Shah is held accountable for her despicable actions accordingly! Too bad TRE got the kid gloves treatment from the court because she and Joe’s action was a fraction less than Jen S- and it fees like TRE got away with it in the end. What is with Bravo’s vetting process in casting? Do they purposefully seek out shady criminals? AND on another note – WHY WHY WHY is Phaedra Parks back on my TV screen on not one show this year but TWO!!!!! Kandi Burress has got to be pissed that someone who set her up as “an alleged rapist” is now being embraced again by Bravo. Bravo is showing what asshats they are with moves like this. Do they not recognize their cash cows are shows like Top Chef and the ever growing franchise Below Deck? I swear the Bravo execs are bots.

Tre took a plea deal early on like Jen Shah should’ve done back when her assistant agreed to one.

I am NOT a fan or supporter of Teresa but her crimes were of a completely different nature than those of Jen Shah.

While I am NOT condoning defrauding a bank by submitting false loan documents OR lying on your bankruptcy petition, Teresa did not engage in a long term scam which targeted the most vulnerable members of society – the elderly.

There were elderly individuals who were robbed of substantial amounts of money by Shah’s scamming them.

Obviously bank fraud hurts everyone in terms of increasing costs but there aren’t individual victims who were swindled out of their savings – these were people who had limited income – living on Social Security with small amounts of savings.

As a 56 year-old, I take great offense to be classified as “elderly”.🤨 I believe full Social Security benefits do not start until at least 65 and for those of us who are not boomers, 67 and up.

YES!!!!! He makes me sick! Trying to bully the oldest daughter, Lindsie, into keeping quiet by threatening to release a tape made from a pet cam (allegedly at the time – no one knew if it truly existed or just an evil threat) of her having sex with a longtime friend (because legally she was not divorced, but was separated -WGAF) was just vile AF. I can’t stand this man. Their Twitter stans are idiots. I LMAO reading comments saying they aren’t guilty, and they shouldn’t go to jail because everyone makes mistakes, but they are really good people. BS Extravagant spending and living in a McMansion was more important to them than their children.

If the court gave permission. She probably was finally aware of the fact that she wasn’t going to swindle her way out of this. It was take the deal or face a trial where she could get more time and things would come out that she doesn’t want to come out.

I’m no judge or attorney, but i think when people take a plea it must be because the prosecution unloaded everything they’ve got to her attorney. If they know that her goose is cooked, they know it’s time to throw in the towel. Her attorney must have said better to take a plea, than to let it go to a jury. A guilty from the jury maybe would have added more years to a sentence versus her sucking it up and pleading guilty. Again, no legal expert. But I do consider myself quite the Law and Order/law and Order SVU/NCIS aficionado!

This is a Federal case, so she is going to a women’s Federal prison, right? I’ve seen there are Minimum-Security and Low-Security, unsure of the difference. But I’m sure those house the white-collar criminals. Of the Minimum and Low security prisons doesn’t look like she’ll be able to serve time in Utah. The closest ones appear to be in Arizona. With her being out of state, she’ll find out who her true friends are. I doubt that she has any. Between her Shah-squad and her extended-family, they seemed like a bunch of moochers. Now that they can no longer get anything from her, they got no use for her. I do feel bad for Sharrieff. He has seemed like a good guy and i’m still not sure what he ever saw in her.

It appears that Jen Shah made an allocution statement with her guilty plea. In cases like this where you have victims who have been done egregiously, the prosecutor is going to require that the defendant make a definitive statement of her guilt. The statement has at least two purposes. 1. The prosecutor is not going to give you a deal and let you just plead guilty so you can later claim you were rail-roaded into it. They’re going to want you to actually say what you did and who you did it to and admit your personal guilt. In exchange, they agree to play ball with you and go easier on you when they recommend your sentence. It’s helpful to the defendant in that they get an opportunity to accept responsibility and ask for forgiveness from their victims. If done correctly by the defendant, it SHOULD humanize a defendant. That’s WHY Jen Shah admitted guilt. She’s receiving a boon from it.

That was her mother, if memory serves. Was it that she sold her home, or that she remortgaged it? Whichever it was, the amount was approximately one million dollars. Jen said it was everything her mother had. I felt so bad for her mother, and I couldn’t imagine taking all that money from her knowing it was for naught.

SDNY does not play. If they indict, know they have the goods.
