Sorry for the lack of posts. I literally can’t get my days and nights back. I haven’t seen daylight in days and days. This is not helpful. and I am completely exhausted and can’t keep my days straight. I don’t even turn the lights on at night anymore. I’m living like a vampire! š
There is is also not much to report or recap. I’m pissed I slept through another hearing I didn’t know was happening. I feel like the publicizing of the hearings is not going to do that much to help our country. The people watching are the educated ones. And the people not watching, but should be, are so deluded and convicted in the words of a film flam man. The saddest thing I have heard is all the poor people who gave $250,000,000 in donations they thought were for the campaign but went straight into the pocket of of the snake oil salesman. Of course they don’t believe that either. The best part was the Republicans who referred to themselves as the normal Republicans. As an Independent, I’m hoping they are able to retake that party. It seems clear the the Flim Flam man is going to run again. Pray for us all.
Amber Heard will not just go away. The scissors for fingers thing had me LITERALLY, LOL! Did anyone prep this woman for this interview? What happened to her second or third or fourth PR team advise her? She is apparently being recast on Aquaman 2. Here “PR” denies it.

I mostly agree that the people who most need to watch the hearings will not. However, I’m happy to report that my husband watched and learned some things. He had been at work and I never felt like I could convey the scope of it as it played out. It’s much easier to dismiss when you didn’t see it and did see the scale and how relentless it was.
We are independent, but always leaned Republican. I do not recognize this Republican party. It is so disheartening. Almost all of the ones who want to call themselves normal were sellouts or stayed too quiet.

I’m not watching the hearings because frankly I have better TV to watch. Sports. Right now are the NHL Stanley Cup and the NBA Championships. I think that’s the real reason they postponed Day 3 till after both of those events are over hoping to pick up a few viewers. I know what happened on January 6th. It was horrible. But I also don’t need to see more political theatre. I don’t even know what the end game is supposed to be. Are they making a case to charge Trump with something? Is it just so we all see how fringe groups in this country are dangerous and a threat to Democracy? I don’t really know what the point is. When they convene some bipartisan hearings on gas prices, formula shortage, interest rates, inflation and our dropping off a cliff 401Ks and retirement accounts, they may get my attention. But this is just MHO.

As to inflation, the entire world is experiencing unprecedented inflation due to COVID, a breakdown in the supply chain globally and the massive greed of oil and other corporations profiting billions off the backs of regular working people. That is simply not true. The oil companies profited over 1 billion in total from 2021 till now. The result canceling of that pipeline is negligible. Try reading some unbiased international news.

Back in the day I was a member of a federal team of scientists dealing with the oil & gas industry (my role was as an anthropologist), & I saw first hand the greed & horror of the industry & their rape of the environment in their pursuit of ill-gotten profits. The public has no idea of the skullduggery involved, much of which is directly supported by our government. Pure evil greed is what is reaching into your pocketbook each & every time you stop at a gas station. Yea, Putin has played a part, but there’s probably an extra buck in the price per gallon that is just pure opportunistic profit right now on top of the regular outrageous profit in a gallon of gasoline. Oh, & I hope everyone knows that the price of diesel has been a profiteering scandal for nearly half a century because it is cheaper to produce than gasoline & until the gas crises of the 70’s was indeed sold significantly cheaper as a reflection of its manufacturing cost. Consumers hoodwinked big time just on that single profit center.

I agree with Lynne C. that these hearings seem more political than investigative. I would take them much more seriously if this was an unbiased look at all the mistakes made. I think there is blame on both sides.
A week before, if not longer, there were rumblings that this could happen. Why did Schumer and Pelosi not increase security? Why was there not more of a DC police presence? Why did they not call in help from neighboring jurisdictions? (There is an agreement and did happen the summer before.) And before you say it, yes, the Pentagon via the White House would have to authorize the National Guard to be mobilized. But there were other options.
I live here. I have seen much more security mobilized for lesser situations. I think Schumer and Pelosi played a game of chicken and it backfired on them.
Sharon — From your comment, I gather you want Biden re-elected. If you do, then you should be worried about what the Democrats are doing about inflation. It will be very easy for a Republican candidate to invoke Reagan’s, “Are you better off than you were four years ago.” To quote the great James Carville, “It’s the economy stupid.” (not calling you stupid, just quoting Carville)
The economy is cyclical. The Republicans are no better at managing the economy than anyone else. They cut taxes for corporations and billionaires and then make up the difference by adding taxes to goods and services for regular folks. Trump added more to the national deficit than Obama did. That was with a booming economy. If he was in office we would be the same situation.

The committee chair has already stated there will be no charges against Trump.
I donāt believe he is the face of the Republican Party, in the future. I also believe he will threaten a third party run if it becomes apparent he will not get the nomination, and become the spoiler.

We are both right. Google ācommittee chair January 6 trump chargesā and read from every news organization that reported what the committee chair said. This is why we canāt have nice things when even a true statement becomes something to argue aboutā¦..the likelihood of charges being brought against him are pretty low. Remember Bush and Iraq? The New York Times has now verified the laptop belongs to Hunter. Anyone who cares about democracy cares about a fair election. That was election interference. There will never be a hearing. If we look at Hunter Biden, then we better look at Jared Kushner too. He actually worked in the White House. A computer that has been in the hands of a lot of people is not something I would take seriously. Even the police has to have a chain of custody or a conviction won’t stand. I doubt Hunter’s laptop would have any impact on an election any more than Ivanka, Eric and Don, Jrs. crooked dealings did.

How about why our Supreme Court Justices have to be threatened? I have not seen much about the attempt of murder of Kavanaugh and the doxing that other justices are suffering. Those who come to the political threads, which is most of them as other countries are able to discuss politics without literally trying to kill each other unlike us, have very kindly tried to explain as neutral participants that THE GAS PROBLEM IS A GLOBAL ISSUE.
Perhaps you have not heard that TFG’s BFF has wrongfully invaded Ukraine this has caused some major concerns, not the least of which is trying to avoid WWIII and TFG’s BFF whipping out Nuclear weapons. So there is a bit more going on than the current old man trying to ruin your life with the price of gas. You see we used to get gas from Russia and other countries, to supplement our own. Right now most of the free world is not doing any business with Russia. So they have cut their gas off to everyone.
You should also know that this war is going to effect pretty much everything else you buy. The diesel fuel for the ships is considered “waste oil” its the leftover stuff after refining our gas. Less gas for us, less waste oil for shipping. There is also a shortage of workers in the shipping industry. So gas prices will not be your only crisis.
Let’s not even talk about the possibility of a WORLD WIDE DEPRESSION.
You see, this is currently a world wide problem. There are many, many other countries on Earth that impact our economy. You may also notice your retirement accounts are in the toilet.
So you see dear friend, this is not a personal issue to you, or your city or your country, so Biden is in the exact situation of all of your peers world wide. Well, except for you know, all those Ukrainians getting slaughtered, or the Palestinians who would love to have your problems right now.

Just want to throw this into the mix. Our Republican Governor in GA has repealed the state gas tax to help the people of Georgia. Also, Our Republican Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger, Basically told Trump to go fuck himself when asked to tamper with the fair election results.
