RHODubai Recap: G.O.A.T.

RHODubai Recap
Dr. Sara Al Medani, Caroline Brooks, Caroline Stanbury, Chanel Ayan, Lesa Milan, Nina Ali — (Photo by: Chris Haston/Bravo)

On to tonight’s RHODubai Recap, which should be lots of fun because I only know who Caroline Stanbury is and the obnoxious “model” Chanel Ayan. Speaking of Ayan which is apparently what they call her, in my photos chart cheat sheet her photo looks extremely masculine. Perhaps it’s just a bad photo but I believe she posted it on Instagram. Just an observation.

Brooks and Lesa go on a mommies date to celebrate that the kids are back in school after doing distance learning during Covid. Lesa tells us that Brooks nationality changes from week to week. She actually looks much lighter on camera than her photo so that is not helping me at all. Anyway, she apparently comes from mixed background. I think Lesa is Emirati. Then, the topic turns to Nina and her Instagram. She wrote, “every blonde needs a brunette bestie.” The implication is that Nina is besties with Caroline Stanbury. They find that odd because Nina used to talk shit about Caroline Stanbury all the time.

Then the gossip moves on to Ayan. Brooks is apparently besties with Ayan but is also frequently annoyed by her. I’m always annoyed by her. It seems Brooks has more of a love/hate friendship with her. Meanwhile, Caroline Stanbury and her boytoy husband are wandering around their house holding dogs. Then, two more people come over carrying dogs. The chyron very helpfully points out the dogs names, but not the people. Because, Bravo. One is Ayan, the other one could be Sarah. They bitch about Brooks. I really need to learn the teams.

Thanksgiving Approaches

OMG I am not ready for wigs yet! Y’all know I have to go by hair and not faces! Nevertheless Ayan arrives in a short platinum blond wig at some restaurant. And a fur. In Dubai. Just as I was thinking how ridiculous she looks, she says out loud to absolutely no one, “I look good, I fucking look good.” Delusional party of one. Delusional? I have no idea who just joined her for lunch. Oh it’s Nina. Ayan makes fun of Nina’s totally appropriate for lunch in Dubai’s look in her talking head. Ayan is an awful human.

Click Here For More RHODubai Recaps & Tea

I’m trying to remember what we did in Libya for Thanksgiving. Ham certainly was not an option. Neither was Turkey. Sometimes people would go to Malta and bring things back. Maybe we just had lamb or something? Anyway, Ayan continues to whine about not being invited to Caroline’s event. And secretly trashing Nina behind her back.

Thanksgiving In Dubai

Lesa is cooking Jamaican food for Thanksgiving. But she has event planners to what? Set the table? Nina is having her family Thanksgiving on the Dubai Eye, it’s the biggest ferris wheel/Observation Platform in the world. Dubai is really big on having the biggest, the tallest, the prettiest, everything. Sophia’s daughter isn’t thrilled by the heights. I like Nina. Oh Lord. Ayan and her family are arriving at Lesa’s house with a live goat. When I was six or seven years old my mother and I were invited to a Libyan wedding. This was a big deal because Americans were generally not invited. They killed a goat right in front of me and I had a nuclear meltdown and embarrassed my mom. The women thought it was funny. I did the same thing at the bull fights in Spain. I used to be tenderhearted. lol

Click Here For More RHODubai Recaps & Tea

Oh good. They are not going to kill the goat. It’s a hostess gift for Lesa. Um, okay. Ayan has love for Lesa. Everyone loves Lesa’s cooking. They were shocked she cooked the whole meal herself. Nina has a loving husband somehow. Suddenly, the goat goes for a swim in the pool. Crap, a huge storm is blowing through the ATL. I hope I don’t lose power. This is my first big storm and possible tornado without Banjo. 🙁  Anyway, Ayan starts trashing Nina to Lesa. Nina seems really jealous of Nina. Meanwhile, the goat seems to have run for his life. Smart goat.

RHODubai RecapWe Get The Background on Chanel Aydan

Later, Chanel Ayan arrives at Sara’s house. I can’t even describe what she is wearing. The wig of the day is an afro. She brought Sara onions as a gift. They both tell their backstories. Ayan says that her father abandoned the family and her mother was uneducated and didn’t know who to support them. So she that left Ayan to raise the other kids and take care of her mother. Ayan says she can never forgive her father. He tried to marry her off at 14 years old. He tied her to a tree when she was seven and left her out in the rain. Eventually, he beat her so bad that she and her sister ran away. Sara talks about her two marriages that were filled with abuse. She’s does hypnotherapy and it helps her. She will recommend her to her therapist.

Ayan is on WWHL. I’ll update that in comments. I need to find something I will eat.

I laughed when the goat jumped in the pool, but then I was scared for everyone who tried to rescue the goat because the pool was surrounded by lighted candles! I kept on thinking, someone’s shirt is going to catch on fire!

And why didn’t they just kick the candles in the pool so they could reach the goat?

I cared more for the goat than the people and was worried about the safety. Will they keep the goat ? Where does it go after the party? What a bizarre hostess gift

I am also wondering how they got a live goat, but now I hope that the production crew grabbed it and took it back to a farm.

People buy live goats to slaughter and eat. They didn’t get it from a farm. They got it at they market. Never fear, the goat will live to star on future episodes. He’s a fan favorite. I was sure they were going to have him slaughtered. It’s a perfectly normal thing in Arab countries. That doesn’t make it any less gruesome for us to watch.

So far I’m enjoying this season. Keep flashing money and wearing horrendously expensive outfits and I’m in.

I’m living for that goat, though. On WWHL they said there will be more of the goat. That was the best thing on TV this week, watching the goat get rescued from the pool. Now I want a pet goat.

Most expats in Dubai rent their home because that’s what my family there told me. Stanbury laid it out, its impossible to get a mortgage. Now I’m wondering who else in the cast is renting. I’m so curious how they all got their money. Those homes are very expensive to rent. Normal (non-reality show) people spend thousands of dollars on rent a month. You don’t get much for your money and it ends up being more than half their salaries at times.

Who is the felon on this series? Are we taking bets?

HAHA We Should take bets on that!! There’s literally one on every franchise! I thought Stanbury insisted she be called Caroline and the other one Brooks. She doesn’t want to go by her married name! Have not watched yet but I am thankful for the recap and comments, better than the show!

So far I’m obsessed with this show. Thank you for recapping this. This is blowing away RHOBH and their stupid nonsense. Chanel and her one-liners are very good but her complimenting herself at lunch was too much.. She did look amazing and over dressed! The views are gorgeous. This is what I want to watch ; over the top parties, funny rich stuff….

Have not, and will not watch this series. VERY disappointed that Bravo has chosen a location with horrible human rights, violations. Pretty sure that Andy Cohen would not be making any trips there.
The Peacock should not be proud of this

I haven’t seen this episode yet but I’m curious as to why they are not allowed to own and have mortgages. I thought the one lady from Boston (on the first episodes) Said she bought two homes in different locations in Dubai.

Expats can buy in Dubai, but it is difficult to get a mortgage if you are self employed.

If you are employed in Dubai or in specific countries you can also get a mortgage.

Jean, we get it. You have some strong opinions about this show. Many of your assumptions are wrong. Why are you watching. Maybe go picket Bravo or something. But please quit disrupting our conversations. The atrocities that happenED in Dubai were during the construction phase of rebuilding the city to attract wealthy foreigners. The country is now almost entirely expats who brought high paying jobs to the area. They treat their workers as family and do not hold passports or treat people like slaves.

You really need to read more than bits of and pieces of the history of Dubai. Or maybe just don’t watch the show.

Unfortunately the poor treatment of workers and living conditions in work camps is still rife in Dubai.

The Phillippine Govt often makes attempts to advocate for better treatment of domestic workers in Dubai, and the rest of the GCC. It’s still a huge problem.

Real housewives of… insert any US, UK or Canadian franchise here, should be boycotted because of the poor treatment of…. Insert any marginalised group here!

I used to live in Muscat, Oman. Trips to Dubai and Abu Dhabi were frequent. The show is making me want to go and live there again. I miss the lifestyle and the weather.

I have family who live in Dubai they were almost embarrassed to have a live in nanny when they moved there.

However they treat her like gold, she is part of the family. No holding passports etc. I’m sure there are arseholes like there are everywhere who treat people badly. However in Dubai EVERYONE has a live in Nanny it’s not a super rich thing.

Thank you for this post because I had it on as background noise because there was nothing else on TV last night after RHOBH. Since I wasn’t paying much attention, I missed the whole goat in the pool thing. I really dislike Ayan. I thought seeing her on WWHL might change my opinion of her, but it didn’t. I really hate it when people constantly carry their dogs around, especially in their own homes. I had a tiny little Yorkie and never felt a need to use her as an accessory. If we’re looking for a future felon by Bravo, it may end up being Caroline Stansbury & her boytoy husband. That necklace he was buying for her was insanely expensive (shiny objects caught my eye, lol). He may be rich, but something seems off about the whole thing. She was my least favorite person on Ladies of London. Oh, and I appreciate you mentioning where Thanksgiving dinner was being held because I couldn’t figure out where the heck they were. At one point I thought I saw a jet right outside the window and thought they were at the airport, which made no sense to me at all.

I’m with the majority in not liking Ayan very much. It’s like she watched all the housewives seasons and is “performing” to become the villain with an interesting storyline. I watch a Ladies of London marathon on Bravo on the day This RHODubai came on. The difference in Caroline Stanbury is amazing! She definitely wants to be the queen bitch even more now. She dressed much classier on LOL. My biggest problem with the show is understanding what most of the cast is saying! Especially Ayan. I may end up just reading the entertaining recaps.

I love Ayan! Putting it out there as an East African, Ayan is not acting at all whatsoever. For the most part, people really are as in to themselves.

This ep was a bit on the slower side, but it wasnt as big of a bore as RHOBH. I’m hopeful things will pick up within the next week since more group events are happening.

Spoke with a family member going to Dubai next week earlier (I grew up in the Gulf) and they mentioned that Dubai hasn’t been getting as many tourists as of late, and so the show makes total sense.

I love Ayan too! I saw her on WWHL and I don’t think she so obnoxious as she is funny. I think she’s kind of in on the joke that she’s saying shocking things and she’s doing it for a laugh, not to be mean. Her husband was on too and was a doll.

I also just heard some tea on Sara. She was engaged to that actor from the 365 Days movies on Netflix. He’s very hot and it ended badly. Not sure if he’s one of the abusive relationships she spoke of, but it fits.
