Below Deck Sailing Yacht Recap: Sally Seamen

June 6, 2022 by tamaratattles 26 Comments

Below Deck Sailing Yacht RecapI just barely woke up in time for this Below Deck Sailing Yacht Recap after dealing with still as yet unresolved technical issues so I am going to get right to the recap. Does this season feel particularly long to anyone else? I’m ready for some Captain Lee. However, Captain Lee is not returning as soon as you might think…. So for now lets see what happens on tonight’s episode.

Marcos has just gotten the news that his best friend’s mother has died. He is also in the middle of a very complicated dinner using molecular gastronomy. On top of that the seas are really rough so they probably won’t get to sail. It’s a whole clusterfuck. Marcos still manages to make a superb dinner. Gary continues to flirt with Scarlett. Marcos goes to bed to call his friend. Meanwhile, the weather gets worse.

The Calm AFTER The Storm?

Kelsie is on anchor watch and has to wake up Gary as other boats start to blow toward Parsifall III. The next morning they are dragging anchor. The wind is terrifying. This is probably the worst weather we have ever seen. They are trying to move and reset the anchor but there is another chain wrapped around their anchor. This is giving me anxiety. Colin has to try to untangle the anchor without getting in the water which is kind of impossible. Gary tries to go out in the tinder to help. He gets the chain off, but they are still dragging anchor. At least these guests are fun and rolling with the tide. Literally.

The super cool charter guests have brought shirts for the crew to wear (or production supplied them) for a relay game of pirates (the guests) versus sailors in a series of relay races. Captain Glinn will be the referee. It was a very tight game but the crew pulled out the win. They won the semen cup errr seaman cup. Marcos is struggling with dinner because Daisy didn’t tell him that Glenn will be at dinner. He is doing more molecular gastronomy and she told him last minute. Marcos kind of needs the distraction. Despite the horrible weather, this was probably most fun charter ever. They also left the biggest tip, $23,000! Gary keeps distracting Scarlett and getting her in trouble.

Below Deck Sailing Yact RecapPreparing For The Final Charter

They can’t go ashore due to weather, but a restaurant is coming to the boat. They have a quick turn around tomorrow for with the final charter. Captain Glenn is supposed to marry the final couple with a beach wedding with the reception on the boat. This is actually smart. Weddings are so expensive. Why not get the wedding, reception and honeymoon all in one on BDSY! Genius! Plus, Marcos will make a multi-tiered wedding cake that is gluten free and dairy free. One of the guests has celiac disease.

Daisy gives Marcos a hug and he cries. I feel so bad for him. He’s worried he won’t be able to pull off the cake. I am not. Marcos can do anything.

I loved this episode. The guests were nice, the food was interesting, the anchor was dramatic, and the race was fun. But my favorite part was the hurricane shot.

I suppose this season does feel rather long. It feels like Gabby left forever ago. But I love BDSY and Captain Glenn and this crew, so I don’t mind. I’ve only seen one episode of BD Down Under. Would you believe I can’t stand waiting the 1 minute for Peacock to load? Silly and spoiled, I know. By now I will have forgotten who everyone is.

Peacock is THE MOST JANKY of all of the streaming services.

The only one that let’s you rewind with SOME CONTROL is Hulu.

Peacock, to quote Nene, is “some bullshit”, you pay extra for the service and still get as many commercials as a network show. wtf?

Great guests. Yay Canada! All the snobby American guests should take note. But they won’t…mean people bring drama and ratings. Marcos is such a good guy. I felt for him this episode.

I loved these charter guests. I want to marry Marcos so he can cook for me every day. I feel so sorry for him having to bake a multi-tiered gluten free, dairy free wedding cake. I want to know why they didn’t wake Captain Glenn some time before 9:15 a.m. when they knew they were dragging anchor. The deck crew really earned their pay on this trip.

I personally prefer Captain Glen he doesn’t try so hard and Gary is entertaining. Gary is great at his job and he’s not a jerk but he’s a little horn dog. I also love Daisy she’s not as witty as Kate but she’s also not a an raging bitch. My favorite scenes are when they sail & go out & party.

I loved this episode. Very entertaining. The guests were soo nice and even though they really wanted to sail and use all the toys, they did not complain. I really like this crew without Gabby. They really work as a team to help Marcos with dishes, etc. Marcos is so amazing and you just wanted to hug him when his best friends mother died. He is so tender hearted. I hope the last cruise goes well.

I think it would have gone even more smoothly if Gabby had stayed and Ashley had gone.

My favorite parts of this episode were the hurricane shots, and the quick clip of Gary flirting with Glen who immediately called him on it. Funny stuff!

I think the scariest scene was Gary attempting to disentangle the anchor chain while he was in the tender. The entire scene was a reminder that boating can actually be pretty dangerous.

That reminder is all the more reason 51 Minds needs to hire COMPETENT people, not just drama kings and queens. And drama plebeians, like Ashley.

Just a reminder that 51 Minds actually cast a MURDERER on that Millionaire show and are still producing reality shows. #NeveForget

I LOVE this show because I grew up sailing and it is the most fun EVER. I really felt for Marco even thought he is definitely not my favorite, but I was thinking cooking would probably be the best therapy for him. And I Love Daisy, but I miss Kate’s snarkiness.

The Race!! That was so enjoyable and I was surprised they pulled out the win, but that is not an easy task to race out to a buoy and come about and not hit them, flop over etc. As Captain Glenn (I think) said, Best tip and we never left the port!

I do have to admit I am still, yes I am a dork obsessed with watching all the Runkle and Emily D Baker’s coverage of the trial. I didn’t get into the trial until week 4, so I had a lot of catching up to do. I appreciate you mentioning him or I would never have found him. Emily is So badass!!

Next week’s cake is REALLY going to test Marcos’s mettle.

Making a gluten-free cake isn’t that difficult, but will he be able to get the supplies? Almonds, yes. But, almond flour? A food processor doesn’t get almonds/hazelnuts ground finely enough. King Arthur makes a few gluten-free alternatives. But in Spain? With no time to test out a recipe. And I THINK they want it dairy free. That will be challenging. Butter and eggs (or egg whites) are usually an integral part of gluten-free cakes. And then we have the tiers. Oh fucking vey!

But if anyone can do it, it’ll be Marcos. Why isn’t everyone lining up to hook up with Marcos?

Dairy free just means milk free! My son is violently allergic to dairy but eggs are his fave! 🤗

Dairy free will also mean no Butter! My son is allergic to allot of foods. Making him cakes is the worst. But yes if Marcos can use egg won’t be that bad as long as can get gluten free flour. He
Can substitute in coconut oil, I find you don’t even need to add a
        “Non milk” milk.

Almond flour is available in Spain, so do not think it will be a problem. I made a Spanish cake years ago, which specifically requires almond flour, and is a very popular and traditional cake, in Spain (look up Tarta de Santiago caje). This was before almond flour was a ‘thing’ in the USA as much.

The very best sailing show. ever. I love Captain Glenn, Daisy, Marcus, and Gary. These guests were beyond wonderful and entertaining without all the drama. The best guest and I agree Americans should take notice. They were so classy and fun and GENEROUS not like the train wrecks from Houston on that show. I prefer Daisy over Kate because Daisy can calmly direct her crew.

I really liked the way these wonderful Canadians reinforced Capt. Glenn’s statement about Canooks being known for being polite.

They were polite and classy and brought the fun. I loved how much they appreciated and praised Marcos. More than ever, he needed to hear those attaboys.

If you Google Capt Lee season 10, you will find ALL KINDS OF RUMORS. Remember, that most bloggers do not follow basic tenets of journalism, including “VERIFY.” Note that Tamara vets her sources and info. Sometimes, not scooping, but I don’t remember a time she had to retract bad info.

That said, I think you may not like what some of the rumors are saying about who may fill in 🥱!

Best REAL NEWS is that Capt. Lee is doing great because he frequently posts to his IG account.
