We are getting down to the wire you guys! Thanks to all ten of you who read this Survivor 42 recap. LOL. We are down to six, and one will have immunity. The pickings are slim about who should go home. Strategically, on the off chance that Jonathan doesn’t win immunity, he should go. But, he has made himself the leader of the “bro alliance” so the remaining women, Lindsay and Maryanne are vulnerable. Hopefully, Lindsay wins immunity and she can make a couple of the Bros see that Jonathan is the biggest threat. Let’s see what happens.
Crap. I fucked up. I’m going to have to watch this online. đ And… it’s not up yet. I guess I will watch on Demand tomorrow. I’m going to try hard not to get spoiled! Unfortunately, I just got spoiled on my own site! I was so careful not go on Twitter or any other sites! Grrrrr. Recapping from On Demand is hard because I need to pause to type, and it’s only lets you pause for one to two minutes. Anyway, on to the show.
Lindsay is Feeling Confident
Since Drea was eliminated last week, Lindsay’s amulet is now an idol. She has to play it tonight so she is safe. I hope she gets some kind of food option for dropping out of the immunity challenge. She doesn’t need to waste her energy. Omar is also happy because Mike trusts him for saving his idol. But, he actually doesn’t. Mike is coming for Omar. Mike tells Maryanne that he wants Omar out. But, Maryanne has been with Omar since day one. Maryanne says Omar has gone from a caterpillar to a butterfly. And she knows he is the reason that Drea is gone. Maryanne is playing a better game than the tribe thinks. Crap, Maryanne tells Mike that she has an extra vote.

Jonathan says that he know Omar and Lindsey are coming for him. This, is going to be a great episode. Everyone knows it is time to start turning on people even if they are allies. Next, we have the reward challenge. Omar won reward, but Maryanne almost had it! He gets to take three people with him and he leaves out Lindsay and Jonathan. Mike finds out about Lindsay’s idol. He is going to tell everyone, but he starts with Maryanne. Mike has also said he has an idol he could play on Maryanne. Meanwhile, she has an idol and an extra vote.
The Immunity Challenge
They have a very physical part where they have to build a staircase and fit the steps into the right spot and then do a puzzle where they have to get two balls into two holes. Omar and Lindsay take an early led. Jonathan is not great at puzzles. Omar and Lindsay are at the final puzzle. It comes down to Lindsay and Jonathan. Lindsay wins! She didn’t even need to win. Now she could play that idol on someone else. Mike thinks that Lindsay will play it on Omar. Mike and Jonathan are both in big trouble.

Lindsay doesn’t want to play her idol because it will go back out for someone else to find. Lindsay and Omar seem to be a tight final two. Maryanne wants Omar gone. Mike wants to vote out Romeo. Why is Maryanne tries to get Mike and Jonathan to vote out Omar. She needs to talk to Lindsay and vote out JONATHAN. He is going to win the whole thing. And Lindsay beat him in the immunity challenge. It they don’t vote him out now, he is going to win everything. Does Jonathan deserve to win? Of course. But if they want the win, they need to use their brains. Only Lindsay seems to be getting this!
This Tribal Council Is Crucial
This is going to be interesting! It’s pouring rain. No idols were played. Good grief Maryanne played her extra vote and sent home Omar. It was a three way tie with Jonathan and Romeo. She single-handedly sent home Omar.
P.S. I’m about to watch the season finale of Beyond the Edge. PLEASE NO SPOILERS! Next week is the SURVIVOR finale and that is usually three hours I have no idea how I am going to fit that on the DVR.
Thanks for the recap TT!
Ok Maryanne is playing a better game than I thought!!! And she admits to Omar it was her! Brilliant or dumb? May be brilliant!
One of your faithful ten weighing in on my favorite show!
MaryAnne is my Sheroe! She was the only one who totally got how crucial that big move Omar made was with the jury and that her time was now and what better way than to take out the big move maker! I was on pins and needles! I said from jump that even though Omar played a strategic game, he bragged a bit too much about how he was duping everyone. When he would laugh about it, it made me want to see one of those ‘dupes’ take him down. It was MaryAnne! Great episode.
Hats off for the recap for your 10 Survivor stans.
Oh, forgot to mention – has anyone noticed Lindsey’s torso, ass and thighs? Solid rocks! She is a physical beast in her own right. Her glutei and hamstrings have not suffered from the island diet like Jonathon’s bulk has. She freaking keeps up with Jonathon on a physical level, always hot on his tail. He notices it too. She is hot to take him out because she knows she can become the physical challenge queen against the rest of them. She has said so more than once so I started watching her.
Although I don’t comment much, I read your recaps weekly. I was sorry to see Omar go, but of those who are left I hope Maryanne eventually wins. I wasn’t a big fan of hers at the beginning but she has grown on me.
I’ve always loved her. She is playing a great game. But, I feel like most people don’t know about it. I’d LOVE LOVE LOVE is she won, but I don’t think she has a chance. Especially with Jonathan not going this week. Is there another idol out there?
Thank you for these recaps. I read them every week! I stopped watching the all of the Housewives a few years ago after being a big fan for so long. Itâs just not fun anymore for me. So I appreciate the Survivor posts.
Anyway, I am Team Maryanne all the way. She and Drea were two of my favs from the beginning. I initially like Jonathan too but once he started mansplaining to all the women, I was over him. Canât wait for the finale!!
I’ve watched this episode 4 times on demand and every single time I have fallen asleep before the voting and didn’t know who went home. I figured I might as well read it here because I can’t seem to watch a full hour of tv without my eyes getting heavy. I think I’m the 11th one here because I’ve never commented on Survivor but I read the recaps every week.
I really hope Jonathan doesnt win. He is a bit of a meathead, and there are others who are playing the game way better than he is. I have had my marbles behind Maryanne the whole time, and she is out witting and out lasting for sure. I am interested to see her reaction to Lindsey betraying her by having an advantage (then an idol) .
In my mind it will be Lindsey, Mike and Maryanne, with Maryanne winning. Romeo is along for the ride.
Go Maryanne! I think a lot of the players have underestimated her from the beginning, but sheâs shown how she can keep her wits about her and not play into the manipulations of the others. Sheâs playing her own game. I am a little worried that they are now going to see her as the threat she really is, but seeing as how she still has her idolâŚ.sheâs got a great chance.
Last week we were discussing how the show has changed since they started offering advantages. Weâre at final six tribal and at least two people out of the six had idols (does mike have one also-I canât remember) Anyway, it makes it look like the odds are stacked, imo. I still love this show regardless. I do wish theyâd go back to the old format. Glad Omar was voted out. Not sure if it was wise for Maryann to admit it was her. Canât believe itâs already the finale next week! I guess Iâm pulling for either Maryann or Lindsey to win, but did their idols expire? I knew Drea was pretty but she looked gorgeous cleaned up on the jury!
I’m with you with regards to idols and advantages. The players are counting on them being there to find. A season with none at all would be really interesting. People running around looking for idols that don’t exist. Lying about finding one, making fakes. Old school baby!
I’m here for this! Even if the show tossed in some fake idols to truely mess with the contestants. I think maryanne wanted credit for it as a preemtive play for votes. Omar might respect that for game play strategy, or shes just straight up stupid, we shall see!
Would love to see them have a âthrowback seasonâ and run it like they did season 1.
TT- love your recaps, especially how you do it in real time with twists and turns! Thank you!
I don’t think Jonathan would win- juries generally are less impressed with challenge wins than strategy.
I think it’s anyone’s game with the exception of Romeo and maybe Jonathan. Jonathan might win the challenges, but I don’t see anyone voting for him for the big win.
Great recap! I am so happy for MaryAnne. I think the final three will be MaryAnne, Mike and Lindsay.
I appreciate these recaps! This season has been SO good. And I love the tone of the last couple tribal councils, these are people who love this game and appreciate good game play. I wish every season was like this.
Usually I read your recaps before seeing the show because if I can’t watch it live, I have to wait for paramount+ to post it the next day. But it was reversed this week. I saw the show on Thursday but kept coming back here for your recap.
I really want Maryanne to win a challenge before going to the jury just so she has that extra padding on her resume.
Lyndsey and Jonathan are both strong competitors BUT Lyndsey has the better social game to Jonathan’s zero.
Romeo and Mike I’m indifferent about, they haven’t brought much of anything. If they get to the end, I can’t see either of them getting any votes.
Oh. So I believe next week is the last week for all the idols to be played. If that’s the case then Mike, Maryanne, and Lyndsey are definitely final 4. And whoever wins immunity challenge. But if one 9f those 3 win immunity they ultimately decide who goes home. (sidenote remember when Cirie got sent home with no votes?! I think the marble of chance (the dumb name escapes me) was only allowed to be played up to 6 players remaining.
I read most of your recaps but itâs always late so I tend not to comment. I started watching Below Deck and MAFS all because of this website. And I tuned back in to Survivor this season because of you. I havenât watched it since maybe Boston Robâs first all star season.
I loved this episode. Itâs amazing how Mike waited until the merge to try to be the boss though. If they donât see that Lindsey is a bigger threat than Jonathan theyâre crazy. Sheâs physically strong AND smart. I predict she will win the game.
At this point in the game they all need to be practicing making fire.
I find Maryanne annoying. But Iâm impressed with the move she made.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Maryanne. HOWEVER, if I was stuck on an island with limited sleep and food, I’d be a bitch. I’d probably punch her in the face and get thrown off the island. I don’t do well with perky in real life. And she is perky 24/7. I love it for 40 minutes a week though. đ
Everyone is underestimating her game play because they just see here as a perky girl who isn’t making any moves. I’d love to see her at the end explaining everything she has done. Their jaws would drop. I just hope she is good at making fire.
