Karen Huger’s New Spinoff Is On Tonight

April 17, 2022 by tamaratattles 29 Comments

RHOP RecapI’m going back to bed. But, please let me know what you think about the show. I’m not really a fan of hers. I’m going to watch American Idol in memory of Banjo and will probably fall asleep in the middle. Speaking of falling asleep, I fell asleep watching King Richard and woke up and rewound. It really was a good movie. Someone here told me it was on HBO and another nominated movie was there too. Can someone remind me what that movie was?

Could it be the new West Side Story and the Eyes of Tammy Faye (really, really good!)?

I really liked the first episode of Karen’s spin-off. Karen is Karen but more real and down to earth around her family. The storyline about a succession plan for their family farm was really interesting. It’s so cool that their family now owns the same farm where their ancestors were slaves. Karen’s family members are much more real than “other” spin-offs where certain family members seem to be auditioning for their own spin-off

I haven’t watched but the sneak peaks made me feel like her daughter was on that “audition mode”. Very extra, and obnoxious. What topped it off for me was a clip of her bragging about galvanizing in Europe and going on shopping sprees which elevated her fashion…only to be sitting in a hideous blazer with green blouse, and tacky hair & shadow. You can’t brag about your fashion while in something horrendous that you are convinced is fashion. No no no! Lol

TT, perhaps I missed this, but has there been any official word on if Porsha got a second season approved? I didn’t watch but I am curious given how far down the gutter it went and how she so easily fell back into violence…which the network is trying to shift their branding around that.

      Happy Easter Monday!

Sorry, TT can’t help you on either one. Karen lies too much for me to even consider watching her in a spinoff. I barely can tolerate her on RHOP. B, however, King Richard was good. The book, of another title is even better. They cut out a whole lot about his life out of the movie. It was incredible and unbelievable the life he grew up in and still able to achieve the life he came to. Anyway, I was sorry to hear about Banjo. He loved you and was thankful for the love you gave him in return. Thank you for sharing him with us.

I agree with Harlan. I enjoyed the first episode of Karen’s show. Her family seems to enjoy spending time together so unless things really go sideways in future episodes I think I’ll enjoy it.

Hello TT… I hope all is well with you and I’m happy to hear that you are seeing improvement with your mental health!! I know it’s been difficult lately.. stay determined and strong! Thank you for sharing your progress. I watched Karen’s show. It’s like a breath of fresh air to see a housewife and her family work together for a positive goal. She describes the history of black farmers and the current challenges they face when it comes to maintaining financial stability. I appreciate that she has shared this reality and maybe it will be void of all the negativity that has been displayed across the housewife franchises. It’s different but in a good way. Her family seems to be real people who aren’t looking to bank on trying to produce a public image that’s not genuine. It’s was refreshing so far… hopefully it won’t take a dark turn. I do appreciate her growth since she has been introduced as a housewife. She’s not perfect however it seems as if she is really trying to avoid the dark negative drama that production depends on.

Oh Karen in her short shorts! That was enough!
She is a terrible hostess. It felt like she had 20 people over and 3 bowls of food for them to share. Im sure they were starving. The next morning they had to fight over dry bagels. Oh hell no Karen.

I like Karen, I don’t love her…..but I watched half of the show until I realized I was missing the Power IV spinoff with Tommy. I will watch the back half tonight. I liked the part I saw. No, it wasn’t super-entertaining, BUT it did portray a story of Black family life that didn’t include twerking, screaming, or any other gutter behavior so I’m here for it. I’m here for anything that shows that Black women and families are not all one monolithic “hot ghetto mess.” I admire the fact that her family now owns the land they had been slaves on and are keen to save the land. That’s a great story in and of itself. Tammy Faye’s eyes is a GREAT movie!! I wasn’t expecting Jessica Chastain to do such a great job and she nailed it (as far as what I’ve seen of the actual Tammy Faye). She showed Tammy Faye was human, loving and kind and I didn’t know that. I was kind of young when the scandal happened and only remembered her for the bizarre makeup. The movie was heartwarming, bittersweet and informative at the same time. I agree with you that King Richard is a great movie and yes, Dune is also on HBO (or Max or Stars), but I have yet to watch it. Still praying for you in your time of grief. It’s a process. However you feel is how you’re supposed to feel.

I watched the Karen show and was pleasantly surprised. As someone else said, it was nice to watch the family interactions without all of the screaming. Maybe it is yet to come since they are trying to sort out what is going to happen to the family farm.

I watched the show and thought it was hilarious. I actually don’t live too far from Surry; possibly 50 minutes or less. The family was entertaining and it was actually good see black families and farming. Can’t wait for the next episode.
