It’s been a very long and exhausting day here, so my brain is a bit more friend than usual. It seems like the last episode was a month ago, but nope that was just last week. It’s been a long week too, it seems. But, I’m looking forward to this weeks Survivor 42 recap. So, let me rub some old lady cream on my back and get going!
Taku Tribe (orange) Taku (Orange)Tribe: Jonathan, Omar, Maryanne, Marya, Jackson, Lindsay
Taku is down to four members after sending Marya home last week. Maryanne finds an idol. However, until the idol finders from all three tribes say their secret phrase, she can’t vote at tribal. Hopefully, this tribe will not be back at tribal this week.
Vati (Green Tribe) Lydia, Mike, Daniel, Kai, Jenny, Chantelle
Over on Vati, Mike has found the idol for his tribe, but Daniel is trying to convince him not to play it. Mike wants to read the idol in private so Mike stupidly gives it to him. However, when Daniel rereads the clue he realizes that if all the phrases are not shared at an immunity challenge, before the merge, the idols have no power, but they will get their vote back. So much for Mike and Chantelle’s plan to vote out Mike! Daniel lost the idol but quickly found it. That was shady.

Since losing the immunity, (See Below) this team is headed to tribal counsel. It’s either going to be Lydia or Jenny. I think Jenny one of the smartest players in the game. So it would benefit them to get her out. But I hope she stays. Daniel is a squirrely player and Mike doesn’t have a vote. But sides think Chanelle is on their side.
IKA (Blue) Tribe Zach, Drea, Romeo, Rocksroy, Tori, Swati
This tribal camp was only showing in the challenges this week. What does that mean? I was hoping this was Tori’s week. 🙁
The Immunity Challenge
Jonathon is beasting this underwater diving challenge and is carrying the load to Taku. He’s even swimming them out to the buoy! Now he is basically doing a water rescue on each his team mates to get them back to the shore. The water is super rough! This looks so dangerous! Taku wins and the other two teams are getting killed by the waves! Mike is drowning! So are a couple of other people. Jeff pulls both teams out the water. He’s just going to give the last two teams the keys to the final part. It all came down to the last bag. Drea kept them out of tribal council. Chantelle and Omar were chosen by the winning tribe to go on an adventure. That was shocking. I had to watch it three times.

Chanelle and Omar, both seem to agree not to screw the other over. Chanelle says she cannot risk losing a vote tonight because of tribal council. It sounds like they both might risk their vote. Omar risks his vote. I think she did too. And in that case, they BOTH lost their vote.
At Tribal Council
Daniel is playing both sides. No idea what he is going to do. That’s kind of what you are supposed to do in this game. Daniel is running his mouth too much. He may be going. These tribals are so confusing. Chanelle does in fact lose her vote. Does Jenny have an extra vote? This is too suspeseful to recap. There are still fifteen minutes left in the show, so something weird is going to happen. Ah! The votes are tied. So they are going to vote again and hope someone jumps ship. Mike and Chanelle both are not allowed to vote so there were only two votes for the tiebreaker. Are you confused about what is about to happen? The rest of the tribe is.

Daniel starts making this super different. Hai refuses to change his vote to Lydia. Daniel is lying his face off. The only person who believes that Daniel is telling the truth is Lydia. With no way out of his lies, he votes out Jenny. He alienated himself from the entire tribe tonight.
I was sorry to see Jenny go – I really liked her. Daniel just showed himself up brig time!
Jonathan was the star of the show!
I call BS, you can vote you can’t vote you have to unanimously decide who leaves there’s a bunny in the mailbox you have a 3 way idol PUH-LEEZE. And what a bunch of unlikeable people except for the strong hot guy with pecs for days (le sigh). I was waiting for someone to drown. Jeff Probst has ruined survivor with all this crap.
Here here! Nail on the head!
This and the last season are the WORST! Covid caused us to be quarantined, it didn’t take away the ability to communicate so there’s no excuse for such awful “twists”.
Daniel lost the idol. The episode showed he lost several things. If I were a prospective client, this would
certainly make me rethink hiring him as an attorney.
Older seasons of Survivor had players hanging onto things or balancing things for hours during challenges. The fact that Jeff took them out of the water was disappointing (unless someone was in imminent danger); they should’ve done the entire challenge as it was laid out.
They looked in danger of drowning to me. Jonathan literally pulled his teammates along or they would have sunk.
I agree with Mike about the drowning swimmers. It was terrifying and should have been cancelled when they say “the largest swells ever.” HUGE! liability. If Jonathan was not out there people would have drowned.
I do disagree that the season sucks. I thought it was a GREAT episode. Have these people never watched the game? The whole thing where I think it was Maryanne said, so the schedule for the day is idol hunting in the morning and other chores afterward. And the idiots telling everyone about their idol. I would not have told a sole about the possible advantage they got on the journey to the top of the hill either. Let alone letting someone take my idol off into the woods alone so they could read the clue privately.
Daniel needs to go ASAP and so does Tori who we didn’t hear from this week because of the extended tribal counsel.
Did no one see where Chanelle tells Daniel to vote Lydia? He told the 100% truth in tribal and Chanelle did not even end up having to answer the question of who she would have voted for.
I went back and double checked, she’s awful! I hope he calls her out.
The beast moves by Jonathon were amazing physical feats. The strength and stamina it took was over the top. I was having a bit of anxiety thinking someone on the other teams were going to need a paramedic rescue on the other teams! Daniel sealed his fate with his big mouth and bad both sides play. Throwing a tribe member under the bus was the final straw.
Daniel’s social play AND game play are HORRIBLE. At tribal he basically said outloud that he was with one pair with the other sitting there. That is not how you play both sides.
Thanks so much for recapping! I like this season more then last, and the contestants too! It’s the fastest 60 minutes every week. Never a dull moment!
