After just six days in Cook County Jail, Jussie Smollett today an appeals court ruled that he must be released while awaiting appeal. His attorneys argued that his 150 day sentence would be served before the appeal of his conviction could take place. Jussie Smollett was convicted five counts of felony disorderly conduct for staging and subsequently lying to police about being the victim of a racist and homophobic attack.
The appeals court ruled that Jussie Smollett is to be released after posting a personal recognizance bond of $150,000. His attorneys also argued that he was in danger in the Cook County jail. You know, like everyone else in there. Apparently, Jussie Smollett is special.
