RHONY RecapThere is a not a whole lot going on this weekend to distract us from the madman killing babies and old people in Ukraine for literally no reason at it. It’s very emotionally exhausting. Bethenny Frankel has raised $25 million dollars for Ukraine relief.

What little Entertainment news there is also depressing. Josh Flagg and his husband Bobby are divorcing. They just got married in 2017!  Rumor has it Josh has been living at the Beverly Hills Hotel for a while. Also, the Weho streets are already talking about him getting together with someone else. Or multiple someone elses. 🙁 I really liked that couple.

At least the situation with Josh Flagg and Bobby isn’t as bad as Kanye and Kim Kardashian. I don’t really discuss these two. Because, who really cares?  HOWEVER. Kanye continues to make threatening comments about Pete Davidson, who I do actually care about. It seems Kanye “kills and buries” a cartoon form of Pete on a new “music video.” It’s time for a restraining order and a 5150. Kim is officially single now after bifurcating her divorce pleading in order to grant the divorce and worry about child custody and the prenup later.

“You’re a bully, Katie.”

Katie  Maloney apparently needs some attention so she is making noises about about divorcing Schwartz. Schwartz should be so lucky. Oh and allegedly, Winter House is filming now and Schwartz and Sandoval both make at least an appearance. Is that what sent Katie into a tantrum?

Lala Kent says she wants another baby. But, it will probably be an IVF baby because Randall ruined sex for her. You can’t make this shit up. She also seems to be saying she is Ocean’s full source of financial support.

Gia Giudice is apparently not really thrilled with Luis.

I guess I had more to say than I thought. 🙂 I’m off to take a nap.

Without Kim’s sex tape, they’d be just another valley family of big-butted people who had to work 9-5 at their boutique. I will never believe they were not able to stop the release of that tape. Gee … how did they get to be such great friends with Joe Francis — before KUWTK?

I’m so sad to hear about Josh & Bobby. I liked them as a couple but I think Bobby wants children & Josh doesn’t so better to split now. Bethenny is an angel. She knows what needs to be done in a crisis and handles it like the boss she is. Katie depresses me. I know Schwartz is a Peter Pan, but he deserves to be happy and Katie sucks all the life and happiness out of any room she’s in.

I agree about Bethenny. Her stint(s) on RHONY paid off for her and she is paying it forward. Any other housewives taking notes?? *ahem* NeNe, Ramona Theresa (ok I have to LOLOL at that one), but basically all of them. I remember Dina Manzo and the Project Ladybug, that was a good thing but is that even a charity anymore?

I dont believe much of anything that is put out about the Kardashians and I do wish it was one name
that the media would never report on again.

Read a blind about Josh Flaggs soon to be ex, having been an escort.
If Gia is seeing red flags, hopefully Teresa will listen.

Glad Bethenny is doing amazing work and where is Kyle singing her praises?

Feel sad about Josh and Bobby but not surprised. There was a scene between the two of them concerning Bobby’s real estate agent ambitions last season and Josh was very critical, almost demeaning. I love Josh but I think he’d be a tough person to live with.

On a different front, Portia Williams was the celebrity guest on the NPR quiz show “Wait, Wait… Don’t Tell Me,” which was taped live in Atlanta. There’s a little interview and then a quiz about a topic the guest knows nothing about, in this case Fake Housewives on old TV shows. Portia didn’t do very well on the interview, a lot of giggling and non-specific answers. And she failed the quiz, got only one right out of three, though to be fair I thought it was fairly tough. Guests who listen to the show regularly know they can ask for a hint, but Portia was obviously not a regular listener. I was really hoping she’d do better. I’m sure at least half the listeners didn’t know who she was and this was such a great opportunity to show them that reality TV is good stuff.

Love this tidbit column, but not so much the tidbits. Sad about Josh and Bobby too. But I agree that Josh would be very hard to partner with. He’s so spoiled and entitled. I wish them both happiness. I read a teaser about Katie and Tom maybe divorcing, but it didn’t seem to have much traction. They’ve never really been a happy couple. I also think he may deserve better, and she does too. He’s more committed to Sandoval than he is to his wife. And he gets more love from Sandoval than he does from Katie…that we see anyway.

George Takei thinks Americans need to be willing to tighten their belt and shoulder bloated checkout tallies in solidarity with Ukraine — but he’s kinda catching heat for the suggestion.

The ‘Star Trek’ actor took to Twitter Friday with his sentiment, writing … “Americans: We can endure higher prices for food and gas if it means putting the screws to Putin. Consider it a patriotic donation in the fight for freedom over tyranny.”

AGREE OR DISAGREE? I’d be fine with it if it stopped the brutal killing of innocents. But I live meagerly within my means. I have less than 30,000 miles on my 2007 Honda Civic. I used to travel a lot until Banjo rescued me and was um… less than kind to the dog sitters. Plus I missed him so much and felt bad for leaving, but I plan to get back to traveling if I am still physically able. So I could do higher prices in place of donating to WCK.

Easy for him to say, he can afford higher prices at the grocery store. Gas is $4.26 here, how much more does he think we can tighten our belts? If your President would allow the pipeline to be finished we wouldn’t be in this position.

The pipeline is 3 years away from being finished. How will that help you right now? Also reported that oil companies are currently sitting on over 60 oil leases that they could drill on NOW but aren’t because they are waiting for higher prices. That’s straight from the Press Secretary. There is no shortage, just gouging oil companies. Remember 2008 gas prices under Bush? I do. I paid $4.14 a gallon back then! We didn’t hear about politicians screaming about a pipeline then. The pipeline is the current “look over there” not “over here” scapegoat for who is really controlling the gas prices careening higher than the shortage. Take a look at the oil companies earnings just last year! 5x more than usual.

Not every drill hits. The leases have to be applied for every time the drill bit hits the ground. A lot of those leases have been sitting on someone’s desk for almost a year and are just being ignored. No dog in the fight, just facts from industry associated friends.

I too have an industry related friend. A long time Geologist with Exxon who tells me all the inside dirt he deals with. The one thing he has told me over and over for 2 decades is this: There is no oil shortage. There never is. He said there are massive oil reserves in Alaska that they’ve been pumping and storing for 10 years!! They sit on huge reserves that they release according to how they want to control prices. Why do you think we had such a fucking crisis with no place to store the oil when the pandemic hit, people stopped consuming mass quantities of oil. Oh and that pipeline that Republicans bring up every time one of their own is arrested, its sand tar oil for Christ Sakes, from Canada. The worst polluting oil out there. Canada wants to use the pipeline to ship it to the southern coast where it will be loaded and shipped to (as Trump would put it) a shit hole country for consumptions but tell me again how Biden is fucking us over with this pipeline? Jobs? A whole 50, mostly Canadian jobs. But yah, keep blaming a President who has nothing to do with setting gas/oil prices. Be sure to blame Biden for Europe’s high gas prices as well. While you are at it, be sure to blame him for 2007-8 gas crisis too.
For those in the back who are screaming that Biden is not a legitimate President because they didn’t vote for him/buy into The Big Lie/need someone to blame for the republican mess left at his feet/ etc… there are 84 millions of us who DID vote for him. When the arrests and public hearings start it will be hard to keep track of all the arrests.

You do know that that pipeline isn’t owned by the US, right? It’s owned by TC Energy in Canada and they killed the project. Additionally, it was YOUR old President’s Energy Dept who released a 600 page report that concluded even if the KXL project was completed, it would have no effect on our gas and oil prices.

Also, if you knew more about INTERNATIONAL NEWS you would know that INFLATION is not restricted to this country and the currently administration. IT IS A GLOBAL SITUATION caused by a pandemic and not a specific administration in the US. It was going on when your guy was in office too. Now we have another GLOBAL SITUATION with Putin murdering people on top of all of that.

Covid is not the fault of Biden. He inherited it from your guy who got us the vaccines that most of his cult followers would not take (which is fine with me) Putin, your guys BFF is causing more shipping problems So yeah, everything is fucked right now. I really hope his crazy fans don’t do the things he keeps encouraging him to do. The media needs to take this more seriously. Women deserve better than this domestic abuse.

Long time reader but rarely post.. If Biden actually acted like a Commander In Chief we could have petroleum and natural gas starting to flow in days. The President canceled our pipeline with Canada his first day in office. The administration is refusing to allow leases where we are ready and willing to start
pumping oil throughout our Country and exporting gasoline and natural gas to Europe.
They are more concerned about the Green Party and AOC’s group than people dying in Ukraine.
Worse than the current situation is that Biden and his negotiators are trying to sign an agreement with Russian and Iran to supply Gasoline to the United States. We are trying to cut a deal with our 2 most threatening enemies instead of accessing our own natural resources. We will again be at the mercy of radicals who hate the USA.

Why is is considered “backlash?” Why are you so unwilling to entertain another point of view? Why is it always tit for tat? And EE’s assessment is missing some pretty big pieces. You could take moments out of a day to get a better picture of what is happening. How is the world would a freshman house rep be controlling our global policy? She can yap all she wants, they all can. MTG can scream stupid shit during SOTU. Doesn’t move the needle at global level.

Gas and oil flowing in days? Flowing all the way to Europe? How does that even make sense? The Keystone already exists. All oil coming from Canada stops in Midwest. XL hadn’t had construction even start in US yet. THat wouldl take who knows how long? Then, it would extend pipeline from Nebraska to Gulf Coast so Canadian oil could be exported to other countries. Look up Valero. It’s in their public filings.

Europe receives oil from Russia. They allowed it. This is nothing new. I didn’t hear anybody say anything about that ever. But Trump did withhold aid from Ukraine for dirt on his opponent and his opponent’s drug-addled son. It’s pathetic. Look, nobody supported military aid to Ukraine for many years before that, not Bush, not Obama, none of them. This is yet another issue where the can has been kicked down the road and now all anybody wants to do is blame the one they hate. Same goes for border policy. We’ve gone off the rails completely.

You are leaving out the fact that Great Britain and Russia also signed the Budapest Moratoriam in 1994. Oh and the reason Ukraine had nukes in the first place is because Moscow left them there when the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991.

Ukraine made the decision to denuclearize. They knew they were getting a legally binding agreement, but trusted that these THREE western powers would stand by it. The first to abandon it? Big surprise…Russia. Refusing to acknowledge agreement with “illegitimate” Ukranian government.

Oh, and, Sharon? I would not vote for Trump again but I would vote for another non-politician who would keep his promises and be in it for the citizens of this country. Trump had the right ideas and he got shit done; he kept his promises. But he also has the most horrible ego and a need to tweet. Can you say you would vote for Biden/Harris again?

Elizabeth, one of the problems with the keystone pipeline is that it plows through Native American lands. Multiple tribes sued.

My ex-husband, and therefore my children are card carrying tribal citizens. They are blonde and fair skinned and weren’t raised in that culture, NTTAWWT, but they have just lived in our society as whites. I’m sure part of that reason is because of the persecution of their paternal grandparents and great grandparents who like many, hid their ancestry because of racism. (Unlike Elizabeth Warren who tried to claim this protected status after getting results from 23 & me). The Indians are another marginalized group who we as a nation have fucked over for far too long (not to mention that we stole their land and broke promises to them).

My oldest recently volunteered to do a clinical rotation at an Indian Health program on tribal lands out of a desire to help less fortunate. Wow, what an eye opener! Harvard Medical School runs a clinic for them and treats for free. Their health systems are disastrous and under funded/under staffed overall. While the rest of the world became industrialized, these people still don’t even have running water. And no, they do not live in tee-pees. They are VERY rural. Yet, somehow covid found a way onto the reservations and multiple generations live together, thus worsening the spread exponentially. Even still, the Indians as a whole had a better grip on how to treat their people and had extremely high vaccination rates. They did a better job of containing it than the rest of the country. Because they listened to their doctors. They are some of the most gracious people left on the planet.

And none of this has shit to do with Biden or The Orange Fatass. (Like someone else said it’s a result of kicking the can). I just wanted to share info and point out that we have people in our own country that are living in horrid conditions and most of us are oblivious to it. Yet they are still surviving and not divided. The new stuff I learned from my kid doing that rotation was informative. I still like learning new things. There were also some customs that were for lack of a better word, weird. But the keystone pipeline ain’t gonna happen. The Midwest is where the largest portions of tribal lands are located, many of them considered sacred. And in case you didn’t know, there are MULTIPLE different tribes and they are not all the same; not in names, customs, or regions. But they will all band together to fight the pipeline as it destroys all their communities. Some make a fuckton of money off casinos and such and they have oil; will use every penny to fight it. It’s a priority for them and I don’t have the energy to teach history here this morning lol.

Now is the time to lead with grace, not vengeance. And remembering the Golden Rule. If the pandemic and the beginning of world war III isn’t enough for us to all start counting our blessings and re-thinking our priorities, God help us all.

Personally, I don’t have the energy to pray for the Trump cult anymore. I don’t wish harm upon them anymore, but God helps those who help themselves. It’s pretty easy in comparison for them to all educate themselves, thereby helping the greater good. If they choose to be narrow minded and fueled by anger and hatred then history has shown how they will fare in the long run. Pointing fingers for the sake of pride is not helpful. It’s only furthering division. Your guy, much like Putin is the one claiming self appointed superiority. If you want to follow his cult of personality into his self absorbed abyss, it’s a free country. Good luck with that.

Clearly I really don’t have a point here. But, your comment is conveniently leaving out a shit ton of other FACTS. This seems to be a recurring theme with the cult. Take one issue, isolate it from any contributing factors and then just hammer the shit out of the nonsensical incomplete picture and call it a fact. It’s no surprise that the demographics for the orange cult are the mostly uneducated. God gave us all two ears and one mouth for a reason.

And with that, I’ll stfu, lol.

No worries, I read it through. I like to read and learn too, and not just hear/read talking points. There was horrible racism against the Native Americans who went to my school. I wish I had been braver at the time but I was bullied too.

The land I grew up on had burial grounds and we found quite a few arrowheads while upturning soil during plowing. My dad (I miss him so much) seemed to think of himself more as a caretaker than an owner of the land, and loved and took care of it.

The other problem besides the one I described above is the billions of dollars of investment that would need to be made to bring these wells to fruition. What responsible CEO would do that if the govt. can just shut them down with the stroke of a pen. They need protection in the law that cannot be removed by an executive order. My question is why can’t we do both? We are the cleanest energy provider in the world right now. What does it matter if we go green, which we don’t have the infrastructure for what the greens want to do immediately, if Russia, China and India are not on board? Even with the Paris Climate accord, the US taxpayer pays them regardless of compliance. They make money either way and which way do you think they are going to go while laughing all the way to the bank on our Chinese borrowed money? Trump was absolutely correct on this matter. We were a net exporter of O&G, returning $5billion back to our own economy. The what about the bad old day comparisons are false equivalencies on their face. We need to do something now, not later. We need leadership, not smirking, giggling and rigidity. We need a spine and a ton of thinking outside of the box.

I totally respect the aspect of Trump’s past platform focused on making the US energy independent. However, that has not yet happened according to the EIA:

“The U.S. Energy Information Administration’s (EIA) January 2020 Short-Term Energy Outlook forecasts that U.S. petroleum net exports will average 0.8 million b/d in 2020 and 1.4 million b/d in 2021. If these forecasts are realized, the United States would be a net petroleum exporter for the first time on an annual basis in EIA’s data series that dates back to 1949. EIA forecasts that the United States will remain a net importer of crude oil in both years, importing a net 3.9 million b/d of crude oil in 2020 and 2.9 million b/d in 2021.”

“The U.S. gets most of its imported oil from Canada. About 9.8% of U.S. petroleum imports (most of it crude oil) came from Persian Gulf countries in 2020, according to U.S. Energy Information Administration data. That has dropped to an average of about 6.6% in the first five months of 2021.”

“The decline in domestic crude oil production came “as result of a decline in drilling activity related to low oil prices,” according to an EIA report in January. “Responses to the COVID-19 pandemic led to supply and demand disruptions,” the report noted.

In fact, the EIA has been forecasting that the U.S. would import more petroleum than it exports in 2021 and 2022 ever since April 2020 — in its first monthly forecast to consider the expected economic effects of the U.S. COVID-19 response measures announced in March of that year (and long before Trump left office).”

We should note that back in 2019, Trump, too, was criticizing OPEC for artificially restraining production to drive up global gas prices.

“OPEC, please relax and take it easy. World cannot take a price hike — fragile!” the then-president tweeted in February 2019.

“But in 2020, as the pandemic hit, Trump was lobbying OPEC in the other direction, urging OPEC members to cut production because the lower global prices were hurting American producers.

In both cases, Trump and Biden acknowledged the power of OPEC to influence the global petroleum market, even though it supplies relatively little oil to the U.S.”

Other than a single week about 2 years prior, we remain a net importer of O&G. The US is divided into like 5 oil regions. Only the Gulf is a net exporter to date. If you have information to refute this, I welcome it. Most of this came from the EIA website, some via factcheck. I hope that is acceptable.

BTW, Gerald Ford signed legislation in 1975 banning all US oil exports. That was lifted in 2015, under Obama. Global supply and demand is impacting pricing now. Not Trump’s policies and not Biden’s. Oh, and the moratorium Biden put on drilling on public land was overturned by a federal judge so that isn’t happening either. Nor did private company drilling stop.

I’ll keep my comments about smirking rigidity to myself. I appreciate a decent discussion though.

Biden closed down construction on the pipeline about 4 minutes after he was sworn in.

He also opened the borders and nixed our agreement with Mexico to keep people wanting to come here in Mexico until they could be identified and processed and even tested for Covid.

Oh, Elizabeth, you are going to get chewed up here if you don’t stand your ground!

The most important point is that Biden has 50 years of acting the fool. Telling the same lies over and over for decades no matter how many times he’s proven a liar. No matter how many times they play the videos. His own boss, Obama, wouldn’t back him until the last second and openly admits you can’t underestimate Joe’s ability to fuck things up. He can’t spit out a sentence without fucking it up. In his SOTU he calls the Ukrainian people the Iranian people?!? Now he’s sending Kamala in to represent us? WTF?

He needs to put everything back the way he found it and get a hobby.

Thank you, ELIZABETH for kicking off what was for the most part a rational discussion on the gas/oil situation. I learned at lot from your post and the responses that followed.

And Blondie, I’m an independent who voted all blue in the last election for the first time ever because the Republican party, for the most part was duped and mesmerized by a flim flam man. I would love for the hypnotism to wear off and have two reasonable parties again. I say all this to say that I think a lot of people might not have voted for Biden if there had been another reasonable option. But I’m fine with having any sane person making the calls right now.
