I got up kind of early today and ran out of gas around six pm and fell asleep. Just waking up as the show is about to start so I am a bit behind on the final TAR 33 Recap of the season. The people waiting on RHOC’s recap tonight are going to be pissed. Sorry.
Oh the race is moving on to Lisbon, Portugal. A place on my short list of places to retire. This should be fun. There are two roadblocks on this leg. Kim and Penn are the first to reach the roadblock. Raquel and Cayla are second. They have to find a boat named for a famous Portuguese explorer and row the boat. Arun and Natalia are third. Raquel literally has no idea how to row a boat. Dusty and Ryan got lost. But Ryan decides to take one for the team. Arun has no idea how to row a boat. Also, I don’t think he is in the right boat. 🙁

Paint By Numbers
For the next roadblock, they have to choose a tin of fish with different pictures and replicate it in a painting on a door. Seriously? Oh it looks like the outline is already there. Sadly, Arun is really struggling at the first challenge. He can’t find the right boat. Meanwhile, the flight attendants are the first to get their painting correct. Then, Kim and Penn. Arun and Natalia arrive. The flight attendants left their map at the painting challenge. They go buy a new one. Dusty and Ryan can’t figure out that they have to paint the door knob.

The final roadblock is counting 106 columns. Every guess the make requires a long run back and forth. The place they have to count from very far from the columns. Penn can’t see that far. So he has to run back and forth pretty much guess. The flight attendants got it on the first try! This sucks for Penn. But somehow he gets it eventually. Meanwhile, Dusty and Ryan have finished their paintings.
Raquel and Cayla arrive at the mat first, followed closely by Kim and Penn. Holy shit! Raquel and Cayla won a trip to Jade Mountain in St Lucia. I stay an Anse Chastenet when I go there and it is EXPENSIVE. But Jade Mountain is a sister property higher up the mountain and guests have their own butler, walkie talkies, room service, a fancier private restaurant, pools for each room… It’s REALLY NICE. And VERY EXPENSIVE. The food is fantastic! I’m really proud of Raquel and Cayla. The boys solve the second roadblock. They are the third team in the finale. Sadly, that is the end for Arun and Natalia. They finish strong anyway. I love them.
I Already Miss This Show
The final three fly private with the crew to Los Angeles. Once there they have to open a clue box at the top of one of four towers of the Westin hotel. The combination is on the exterior of an elevator. But, all they were told is spot the clue going up and down. So Penn and Kim are going up and down the stairs! No! The flight attendants get their clue first! Then Penn and Kim. Dusty and Ryan are IN the elevator and are, pardon the pun, clueless.

Next, one team member has to put on a Mexican mask and smash three specific piñatas to get their next clue. Their partner will direct them when to swing. This should be good for Penn and Kim. Everyone is at this challenge, except for Dusty and Ryan who still can’t find the code for their lockbox. Meanwhile, the flight attendants are killing this challenge. The girls are done first. Penn and Kim are struggling to find the last piñata. They finally get it and head out a bit behind the girls to Sunset Boulevard. Dusty and Ryan are finally at the piñata challenge.
The Final Challenge
The next challenge is in a filming site where they have to recreate sounds from strange object to match some pre-filmed Amazing Race footage. Yeah, I don’t quite get it either. It looks SUPER HARD. Rusty and Dylan are still at the piñata challenge. Kim and Penn arrive and seem very confident in this challenge. It seems insanely hard to me. And the flight attendants. This is stressful to me and not fun to watch. THE GIRLS GET THEIR CHALLENGE DOWN! GO GIRLS GO! Kim and Penn are right behind them. They actually got directions from the same guy. If the guy is wrong, Dusty and Ryan could still have a chance.

The final challenge is the usual sort of memory test of all the things they did on the race. There are a bunch of quotes on “tennis balls” that they have to match with corresponding racquet. Kim took notes on every little thing. It looks like this is Kim and Penn’s challenge to lose! The boys are on the way to the last challenge. Both teams at the final challenge are confused on what the coin looked like on the turning over the rocks challenge. Now they are changing things they had correct. This is a disaster! Kim and Penn get it right and win the game. YAY! Why do I always cry? They are the oldest couple to win the race. The flight attendants were a close second. The guys bro out at the end.

Penn talks about how great the production team was in Covid. They socially distanced, wore masks and treated them great. WHY AM I SO EMOTIONAL? I didn’t even know Kim had anxiety. What an inspiration. What a great season!
Loved this season! So happy Kim and Penn won. They deserved it. So happy Covid didn’t ruin this like it has everything else.
Thrilled consistency won, great couple. Some of their YouTube stuff is hilarious. But what I’m most thankful for is that survivor will be back🤗
I liked this season too. I like all the teams. It did feel a little dull to me. And I think that is because the airport jockeying was out of the picture. That is a big piece where peoples true colors come out. That and getting lost in a cab. It was fun, but I am looking forward to the next one and hopefully getting back to normal. It is always fun to have a team or two to “hate”. I am looking at you Rachel and Brendon!
Yay! I’m so happy! i cried at the end too, TT. Never fails. Same during every episode of project runway. Lol
I’m so happy they won. I’ve been a huge fan of their music videos for the past 2 years, so they were always my fave to win it. They kicked butt. And stayed so positive and loving towards each other. Relationship goals. Great job!
Relationship goals Indeed.
HELP. Pease explain: Why did Arun and his daughter not have to paint their door knob? It was clearly also within the borders of the pairing. Go back and look. It appears they applied different rules to different teams. What am I missing?
Not the same picture?
It was two different pictures, No?
The can for the 2 guys had the knob painted. Arun and Nat’s can did not have knob painted.
We noticed that too. The Father/Daughter’s doorknob was on the side, not the middle like the boys. But F/D knob was still in the painted part of the picture and showed as painted blue,
.
I was team hot guys until they started to suck. The bromance is strong with those 2, at least they won a trip somewhere.
I was on that team too briefly. But then I fell in love with Arun and Natalia. I would have loved some sort of shocking win, or at least them getting to final three. But all in all there weren’t any assholes on this season. That was a pleasant surprise. Though the assholes usually make the show more interesting. I guess the way that one guy treated his wife was the asshole. That was just awkward.
I didn’t remember any of those viral clips they had to put sound to but OMG that watermelon shot to the face. OUCH!
My sister and I cried too. It was just so nice to see something familiar and see teams that were kind to each other (for the most part). I miss this show already!
Penn used to be on my local news before he went onto making videos on YouTube. I was rooting for the guys but I’m not mad at the outcome. Hope we don’t have to wait too long for the next season.
I loved this season. Did miss the transportation jockeying 😁. I was Team Penn and Kim for jump. Been following then since Christmas Jammies video. I like that they showed how to use each other’s strengths and communicating. Also tackling head on the things that hold you back (anxiety, ADD, OCD, etc.)…kudos to many of the teams for that. I cried at the end too. Great finale.
Thanks so much for recapping this show. I just love it and this season didn’t disappoint even with restrictions. I loved all the final teams but am a Kim and Penn fan because of their videos and the way they support one another. It was also so wonderful to see Ryan and his friend have so much fun together after all he went through. All of the finalists were inspirational in some way and that’s what I love to watch.
I’m sad that the show is over. Yes, Covid did take away the wild taxi rides and airport runs but there was that new element of kindness between teams was very nice and something we don’t often see. Loved Arun and Natalia and glad that Kim and Penn won. It’s nice to see middle aged people beat all the young and buff types win.
Thanks for your recaps! Survivor starts next week!
