TAR 33 Recap: Gently Down The Stream

February 10, 2022 by tamaratattles 8 Comments

TAR 33 RecapWednesday is a super busy night now the Celebrity Big Brother is on multiple nights. So this TAR 33 recap is the third recap back to back in a row. Someone recently asked me what shows I wish you guys would watch more. It’s The Amazing Race! I feel like this is currently the least read recap of everything that is on the air right now. I’ve said before that the recaps for this can be boring especially if you don’t watch the show. There is a lot of “this team is in first” and “this team is in trouble!” kind of stuff. Unlike last season when everyone was so mad that several teams worked together, that at least led to some drama. And outrage from the people who didn’t think it should be allowed. I need more interaction with the teams!

MAGGOT CHEESE? REALLY?

And on we go to the final recap of this very busy night. Forgive me if I am a little tired but I am dying to see the episode! I saw a short pocast/youtube/whatever the kids call it these days with an interview with Akbar. He made a lot of excuses for his behavior. /eyeroll I also found out that Sherri teaches second grade! I love her even more now. That is the best grade ever to teach (kind of tied with Community College). Why have I never been to Corsica?

I don’t know if I can tolerate a nasty food challenge tonight. I am already queasy enough. On the next challenge everyone has to eat casu martzu, which is also known as maggot cheese. I could have gone my whole life without knowing that fact.  I need more chyrons! Also,I can’t remember who is who. I think it is the flight attendants who are in second and following Kim and Penn in their pretty convertibles. Penn speaks some French and got good directions. OH! Survivor ad! YAY! It looks fantastic.

TAR 33 RecapGag Me With A Spoon?

Dusty and Ryan is in the second group to leave for the first time. The flight attendants (?) beat Penn and Kim to the challenge. Then the girls see the maggots in the cheese. One eats it first, the other is more hesitant, but they are currently in first place. Penn struggles with the maggot cheese. Dusty and Ryan arrive next and gulp down the maggot cheese. I’d be out on this challenge. The twins are next. They both puke. I hate puking challenges. Next, up is Arun and Natalia are next.

At the detour, the choice is row, row, row your boat. Or gently down the stream. In the first one, they must chose a fish and row out to buoys and collect ten matching ones. In the second one they have to go on a boat and remember the order of “fish” they saw, and tell someone the exact order to get a clue. They should choose row, row, row your boat. For some reason the flight attendants decide to wait for Penn and Kim. They also decided to do the “gently down the stream challenge when they already had chosen the easier one. Le sigh.  I did say I wanted more “working together though.” Be careful what you wish for.

TAR33 Recap Gently Down The Stream

With Penn Kim and the flight attendants(?) working together, they were able to memorize the ten fish because the fish were are both sides of the submarine. Meanwhile, Ryan and Dusty do the Row, Row, Row your boat challenge. I think that looks easier. Arun and Natalia and and the twins are the only one doing that detour. The Twins and Arun and Natalia work together on the submarine. Ryan  and Dusty’s boat is sinking and pulling the fish up is apparently very hard. I would have picked the wrong challenge. Ryan and Dusty are in trouble. Their boat is full of water. They had to flip it over and kind of restart. The twins and Arun and Natalia fail their first attempt. They have to go on the 15 minute submarine ride again.

Meanwhile the first two teams are already moving on to the next challenge. It’s a road block where one of the team has to repair fishing nets. It looks hard. The flight attendants and Penn and Kim still help each other. They are struggling to repair the fishing nets. Everyone is struggling. Arun and Natalia and the twins finally get off to the road block.  Penn and Kim are the first to finish. Then the flight attendants Rachel and Cayla. (finally got chyron)

Off To The Finish Line!

Off Penn and Kim are KILLING IT THIS SEASON. They are first to head for the finish line with Rachel and Cayla right behind them. Corsica is the birthplace of Napoleon. So there are Napolean impersonator point the way to all the racers on the path. It’s up a very long, very steep path. Penn and Kim are in first place. They won a trip to Turkey. Acra hotel. I typed that just to look it up later. Then Rachell and Cayla came in second. Arun and Natalia and the twins are both lost on the way to the road block. Dusty and Ryan are still there struggling with  the roadblock. Ryan and Dusty run to the pitstop. It’s down to Arun and Natalia or the twins at this point. I’d rather Arun and Natalia stay but that is an unpopular feeling on social media.

Dusty and Ryan are team number three. Arun and Natalia finish before the twins It is a very rough mountain to get up. But, the twins get to the mat first. It’s another non-elimination round so Arun and Natalia get another pass. YAY!  See you next week and thanks for reading and commenting with me. I love this show! xo ~tt

Another non-elimination round? Seems like they’re trying to keep the game alive. I like those 2 tho.

In the past teams that were the last to the mat during a non-elimination leg had to perform an extra task; is that happening in this season?

No it isn’t. And that is weird. But this season has been so disrupted by COVID I think that explains the extra non-elimination legs. Two of the teams they were expecting when they were mapping out the new course had to drop out.

The last non elimination leg the team was the last to depart and left alone. I believe 30 mins behind the first teams and 15 mins behind the 2nd (?). but yes, haven’t seen any of the usual punishment tasks. I’m rooting for Penn and Kim. Though I’d be happy if it were the Boys or Flight Attendants too. I love this season! they did a great job with managing the Covid stuff imo.

I agree with you, Tamara. I would not be able to eat maggot cheese, even for a chance at one million dollars. Just, no! Even though I despise the have-to-eat-something-gross challenges, I love The Amazing Race.

The words “maggot” and “cheese” do not belong together under any circumstances. I might have been able to eat it if there weren’t actual maggots in it! I hate challenges that make you barf.

Thanks so much for the recap. I missed this last night and was so glad to read your take on it. I think I’m rooting for Ryan and Dusty. The guy spent 10 years in jail for a crime he didn’t commit, so … I’m feeling like he deserves a little good luck. Plus- those two are pretty balls out for every challenge.

I don’t normally watch this but follow Ryan from when he was incarcerated. Such an interesting case and I’m so glad he’s finally out. All that to say I am rooting for Ryan & Dusty to take top spot.

I also would’ve chosen row row your boat. It looked like the boys were being a little careless and that’s why their kayak filled with water. can’t have both of them leaning and with that chop, I think that’s how all the water got in. It was actually nice to see them struggle a little bit. It was starting to feel like they were going to run away with the season.
