So sorry for the delay on this week’s MAFS Boston Recap. It’s been a really hard week over here. But, I’m ready to watch so let me just get right to it. We still have two more weddings to go. I miss the days when there were three couples and we got all the wedding crap out of the way in the first season. I enjoy seeing the weddings, but the best part is the actual marriage part. So, hopefully I can make this quick.
Noi & Steve
Social media has not been kind to Steve. He’s “unemployed” and travels a lot. So? If you could just travel on your own a lot wouldn’t you? I’d love a Steve. Other than the young couple who recently went on a trip together and everyone ended up dead in the end thing… I LOVE traveling by myself. If I am in Paris and just want to stay in my room and watch British TV all day I do it. On my first trip to Paris, I got sick one day an laid in bed watching Hart To Hart reruns all day. And looked out my window at PARIS! I loved it! And the next day I was fine. Noi is a traveler too. I am pulling for these two. So far so good. I think this is a good match. I love this match!

Fuck you social media. Noi and Steve are going to be just fine. This is my favorite couple. Don’t break my heart, MAFS idiots! At the reception, these two seem connected. And then Noi learns Steve is unemployed. Noi takes it well. UNLIKE SOCIAL MEDIA! Noi says he wants to wait a month for sex. I love these two. On their wedding night it was so sweet.
Alyssa & Chris
I think the previews make it seem like this is the problem couple from the start. I don’t know what is going to happen but I really like Chris. He seems like marriage material. BTW, I would not do this show without a prenup. However, I’ve heard that the marriage isn’t valid for like 90 days so… who knows. Marriage is a business partnership. I’m not an Alyssa fan just yet. She seems very focused on looks. I do love her dress and boots though. God. She is Soooooo materialistic and focused on the physical.

Again with the GINORMAS “bouquets” I am a flower person. If I get flowers that are huge, I’m thrilled. But a bridal bouquet should not over shine the dress. Chris said he likes the bouquet. Not the dress, the flowers. This is a problem. She makes sure he sees her boots. Alyssa is refusing to take intimate photos with Chris. She would not even put her head on his shoulder in photos. Chris is going to be heartbroken. Can you tell I do not like Alyssa? At the reception, Alyssa’s family encourages Chris to communicate with Alyssa. But, her family gives him great advice .I hate Alyssa. However, Even Chris’s friend don’t seem to support him fully.
Katina & Olajuwan
These two do their photos. Then we see them at the reception. So far, so good? Katina is totally in to him. They agree about when to have kids. Things are starting off well. Katina seems very happy. Olajuwan is concerned because she can’t cook. Katina talks to his family. They say Olajuwan needs a lot of patience. He’s challenging. Also he will want to mold her into the women he wants. Olajuwan doesn’t do much better with her parents. He tells her family that he has OCD. and then we get the negative OCD stories from him. Shut up, Olajuwan! LOL. Ha! She wants to wait a month for sex. It’s a good sign he is waiting for se. Bu
Lindsey & Mark
Lindsey is a horrible person and Mark could have done so much better. But so far so good. OTOH, Mark is a bit much. Mark wants to see a sober Lindsey. Lindsey’s family tries to sell Mark on Lindsey. Mark shares he doesn’t have a father or siblings so he is happy to have a new family. He asks her family after the fact for permission to marry he. Her father is so sweet and embraces him. Lindsey’s friends tell Mark that Lindsey can be very standoffish at first. Mark says he has thick skin. His friends tell him he is not a . cuddler. He’s fine with that. But I think they had sex on their wedding night.

Lindsey is not down with her husband. She doesn’t want to sleep in the same room with her husband. Apparently, Mark is kind of a dick. Lindsey comes out and says….Not much. Will she dump him later? In the meantime… I can hear ,myself breathing through all of us.Jasmina & Michael
I have family members named Michael and I still can’t spell it without help. I am hoping we can call him Mike from here on out. Mike seems terrified. Micheal’s friends and family ask for patience with him because he can he lost his mom. They give her a pin that the wear to honor their mom. Her family encourages communication.
I am sad I didn’t get more than These two.
I keep forgetting about this show and I can’t find it streaming. On some channel, they show old seasons, but not the current one. Does anyone know where I can see MAFS on demand? The recaps always get me interested, and the Boston area is where I grew up.
Someone on Twitter said Discovery+ has the new episodes and shows them before they air on Lifetime.
I have Discovery Plus and it has the old series, not the current one.
I found it on Prime, but had to add a subscription to see it. I’m in Canada though so that may not help you, but do check Prime.
You can always watch it free on the Lifetime app if you have a streaming provider
Alyssa is a self centered wannabe IG star. She would fit in perfectly in the Australian cast, not so much this American one. Chris’ friends did him no favors. In fact they really didn’t seem like friends at all.
I really wanna know why Katina can’t pronounce Olajuwan’s name? Like at all. Again I say. Somethings off about her. Olajuwan wants a working spouse who acts like a housewife. That’s not gonna happen.
Lindsey’s family have allowed her to behave horribly for far too long and it shows. I’m not sure how long Mark or the rest of the cast will hold up to her particular brand of crazy.
I agree, I don’t understand why it’s so hard to pronounce Olajuwan’s name. Katina’s mother could barely pronounce it but yet got indignant when he called her daughter Katrina. Her mother was very rude to Olajuwan.
was her being rude before the lap dance with her daughter or after? I would have been peeved to have had my daughter’s husband who she never met grinding like stripper at the wedding. beyond disrespectful of the bride never mind looking like a complete tool for all to see
Good point. It was shown before the lap dance but could have taken place after it. Editing.
She was still rude abt his name. That was insulting and not called for.
I am calling it Michael and Yasmina will be the only couple standing! They are sooo cute!! For just meeting they are pretty natural around each other albeit a bit awkward.
Olajuwon and Katina nope see a train wreck. You can’t put ecpectations on your wife! Let things grow naturally but that won’t happen.
Mark and Alyssa so wrong on so many levels. Social media is destroying Alyssa. I get it her attitude toward him sucks and she did not get her Chad. But I can’t imagine being married to someone I had zero attraction to. The most disturbing thing I found is my husbands reaction towards them. He sided with Mark!
He said she ruined what was supposed to be the happiest day of his life? Whole heartedly disagree he married a stranger who hates him. That was the risk he took.
I have a hard time empathizing with Alyssa because, although I certainly agree about the challenges of marrying someone to whom you have zero attraction, it also seems to be a very legitimate risk of the show. I wouldn’t personally find many of the grooms attractive straight out of the gate this season or last (with a couple of exceptions *cough* Gil *cough*), but I also think attraction can build and grow.
I have found it refreshing that they haven’t gone down the “cast models” path yet, a la the Bachelor and other shows. With that said, it sounded like a couple of the women were essentially recruited to the show? It makes me wonder if Alyssa was one of the recruited brides, and if so, what false bill of sale might she have been given that left her with such misaligned expectations?
Totally agree about Steve. I worked in the same industry as Steve (software) and in Boston. As I understand it, he was a sales engineer. Professionally, he would be in extremely high demand right now, and in a position to make good money wherever he lands. I believe he also referenced doing some freelance work. If that includes freelancing as a developer, then he is doing absolutely fine and probably making more working fewer hours than most people.
My husband, watching the show with me, was screaming at the tv every time someone struggled with Olajuwon’s name. He cannot believe that none of these people remember (or at least had heard of) Hakeem Olajuwon.
I totally get Steve being unemployed (sort of). First the pandemic has been extremely stressful for millions. When my husband got laid off he got unemployment and a bump up for a long time. Seems that if you were unemployed during the pandemic when bonus money was floating around lots of people took a breather before jumping back in. Some just needed a stress holiday. Second, these fools are being PAID to film. Come on this is entertainment. So Steve had two sources of income and a career in a highly desirable field. Think Lindsey has a tiny sipping problem and when she sips her mouth runs on unicorn farts. Time will tell. Olajawan is super immature and expects life to fit him. Reminds me of Zack. Oh and the lap dance at the garter belt removal was totally cringe worthy. If my son did that to his bride I would stop the music and beat the living devil out of him. That wasn’t just rude he should have pooped on the cake. What an animal! Alyssa is stone cold mean and her whole family tried to warn Chris to stay out of her path when she rages. She is very angry and maybe daddy issues but holy smokes I would like to see her psyc eval cuz she has more issues than Vogue. Love the new season. Thanks for the recap
I have no idea why there is missing text. I’ve had entire posts disappear recently. I think there is some combination of keystrokes that to do it. I’ve been hitting CTL instead of shift a lot lately. It’s one of my new “Features” 🙁
Looks wise Alyssa reminds me of the oldest daughter on Modern Family. I chuckled when Alyssa mentioned wanting to live in Scituate I thought that is quite the red flag as to her priorities as Scituate is an extremely pricey coastal community just south of Boston.
Just watched the afterparty and it looks like on the next episode, Alyssa bails. She deserves all the dragging she is getting. You don’t commit to marrying a stranger and just bail after one day. OTOH it will spare Mark further humiliation.
I wonder if production will convince her to stay for the paycheck? Edited to add. Just saw the previews and she is still there talking about what a good person she is.
I do like Noi and Steve. They have a shot.
SHUT UP! LET ME BELIEVE IN LOVE! LOL!
I think Katina talks like she has marbles in her mouth in general so it took me a minute to realize she didn’t know her husband’s name. She has a hard row to hoe, with Olajuwan. Can you imagine if Olajuwan and Alyssa were matched? Both of their egos would not fit in the same room.
Well he does say I love you!
I’m watching this show out the corner of my eye this season. The last few seasons have been a shit show and it’s hard to get invested in these couples. I wish they’d stuck to the original format. The episodes are too long, too many couples, and not enough guidance for the couples. We really could use new experts.
Remember when the weddings were at best 2 episodes. The honeymoon’s seperate destinations too. They should have stuck with that format.
Also get rid of that damn song “It’s so uplifting.” Annoying and awful.
I really feel bad for Chris, Alyssa should have not signed up for the show. She knew she wouldn’t have any clue how he looked until she walked down the aisle. She is so concerned about how he looks, she apparently has not looked in a mirror. This a Jamie and Doug situation and look at them now.
