Happy 2022? Well we shall see. I just saw something on Twitter as I am TRYING to go back to bed, and as we all know, everything on Twitter is FACTS. So, Here is how to know how 2022 will treat you this year. Figure out the year you turned twenty-two. Then Google #1 song of that year. The title will tell your 2022 fortune. You’re welcome, and please share your fortune in comments. Mine is sort of good news for me and bad news for you. My song is That’s What Friends Are For” Dionne and Friends (Dionne Warwick, Gladys Knight, Elton John and Stevie Wonder). It’s a great song. But it means I’ll be leaning on y’all again all year. Or perhaps a better way of looking at it as we will all be leaning on each other again this this year. And, I’m good with that. I think this bodes well for all of us. Sometimes our chosen little family here is better than the blood ones. Even if we do fight and get pissed at each other from time to time.
We have the cantankerous ones (like me), the easily offended, the ones struggling with horrendous situations, the ones making changes for the better, the ones with health issues both physical and mental (also me) and the ones going through crazy things that need our help. In other words… God bless us everyone.
Thanks to everyone for their support in 2021. As we move into 2022, let’s always remember whatever ever is going on in “the real world” we have an Internet family here. And hopefully it will get even bigger with more new people, because we are an inclusive group where everyone is welcome. Well you know, if they can follow the commenting rules. And um if you can tolerate my whining from time to time. I’ll try and do better, but don’t hold your breath. 🙂 But y’all are welcome to complain as well!
I am dying to know what all of your songs are.
Boom Boom Pow – Black Eyed Pees! I like that 😃 thanks for sharing, happy new year!!!! 🎈
OOOH THAT’S A GOOD ONE!
Bridge Over Troubled Water – yes, I’m that old. And have no idea if it’s a good or bad omen!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4G-YQA_bsOU
I don’t comment much but I love this community and am happy to be part of it. Happy New Year everyone!
I love this game! AND I WILL TOTALLY LAY ME DOWN for you. Don’t be such a stranger to comments. We have a full on old lady gang happening here. lol. You fit right in. I tried to get Bridge Over Troubled Water to post but it wouldn’t. But I did sing it twice to Banjo.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4G-YQA_bsOU
Also, I didn’t really want to post mine either because we is old. But fuck it, we have more money and better insurance … okay maybe no health insurance here, but We are older and don’t Give a fuck! LOL.
I can’t stop playing this an crying over a couple of estranged family members. Maybe it’s time to reach out?
Yes — even though I don’t know the situation – I vote yes on the reaching out. Best wishes for reconciliation, peace, healing, and understanding.
Like a prayer Madonna!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79fzeNUqQbQ
I missed this. Sorry. I am so glad to hear this tonight. I take it as a good sign for you.
Well at least SOMEONE is scheduled for good sex in 2022! Us old people give you kudos!
I’ve loved this song forever, the video ,the choir it’s just fantastic. Madonna looked so beautiful in her Dolce & Gabanna dress and dark hair. Chapeau to Tra for reminding us cx
Mine is “I will Always Love You” Whitney Houston. But who will I always love? Or will someone always love me? Either way, love is good.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3JWTaaS7LdU
I guess you will have to wait and see? Meanwhile that song on Youtube has 1,160,263,312 views on Youtube, I haven’t slept so I am sort of out of it but that’s over a billion in I am thinking clearly…. This is a good omen.
Me too! I honestly don’t know if it is good or bad. Happy 2022 everyone!
https://hotpopsongs.com/number-one-hits-1989/
Yes Ma’am, I am old!? Love this list as it gives you the song for the week of your birthday. 2022 will see me channeling “STRAIGHT UP!.
I think I am in for a spectacular year! Happy New Year to you all.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=El1kgCqD7Xk
I am enjoying all of these songs and wish I could make them post in comments.
Mine is…My Heart Will Go On. Not sure that instills confidence for a good year.
YIKES. But um, at least your heart will go on? 🙂
Greatest love of all – Whitney Houston
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYzlVDlE72w
Y’all are killing me with with all the Whitney Houston songs. I sing them all to Banjo who doesn’t seem to care I am tone deaf.
Number one for 1984 was Prince’s “When Doves Cry”. The number one for the week of my 22nd birthday was “Ghostbusters”. Not a fan of either one.
You are dead to me. (not really BUT) When Doves Cry is one of the best songs ever.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UG3VcCAlUgE
y’all are killing this old lady with Prince and Whitney. When Prince died I had to go to the grocery story I was HEART BROKEN and that was an understatement. I could not understand how everyone was still going on with regular daily things. My former good friend who was lived next door and then went off the deep end painted his mailbox purple. He died of apparent self inflicted situations a bit later.
Happy New Years TT and everyone, well my song is quite funny: EVERY BREATH YOU TAKE, By The Police, 😂 fitting since I’m on oxygen 24/7, so it fits me perfectly 😉❣️
This is fun! (Since I like my song), LOL)
Silly Love Songs by Wings. I’ve loved Paul since that Ed Sullivan Show. My sisters and I swooned. Even my dad who died last year at age 95 loved the Beatles. Yes, I’m probably the oldest one here. Ha.
Anyway I’ve been divorced for 15 years after having been married for 25+. I think I’m ready for a little love. I need something to do besides play with my grandkids. Bring on 2022 everybody!
I have been up all night and will probably crash all day. But Banjo is loving this thread because I am listening to every song. LOVE DOESN’T COME IN A MINUTE!
I have no idea why sometimes my links work and other times they don’t I try to post them all.
Aww, thanks T! Now I’m crying, LOL
You know what would be nice on this site? Maybe like little thumbs up buttons, or happy face or sad face. Just a quick little something to show people you saw, and care.
Just a thought.
You and Bsnjo have a restful day now!
Me too Barb, married 20 divorced (happily) 25. Here’s to 2022 being kind to is old gals
Yes, sister!!
I got silly little love songs also. So you aren’t the only “oldest” lol. But you gotta admit 76 was a great year 🤪
Mine was Faith, George Micheal! Maybe a sign that I need to have more faith? This reminds me of a more light hearted time in my life. 😊💙
Yeah I got Another Day in Paradise by Phil Collins. Not sure if I should laugh or cry about this? But I’m sure it’s gotta be on YouTube… I didn’t want to post it because, commenting rules. Happy freaking new year! Le Sigh/: guess I’m in for more of the same.
As in 2019, part 4? Lol
I’ll try it but I have no idea how this works. I should be able to paste links and you guys shoul not work, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qt2mbGP6vFI yet SOMETIMES it works.
well look at that working. I honestly don’t get why I can do it sometimes and not others.
But um, I like whatever my song was better.
Well I just watched the video of which I’d forgotten about. 33 years later and it looks like it could have been recently made. SMH
I’m not crying! You are!
And agree yours is WAAAY better.
Mine is “Never Gonna Give you Up” by Rick Astley. umm, yay?
depending on what list you look at, also mentioned is “Living on a Prayer”, “Walk Like an Egyptian” and “I wanna Dance with Somebody” , by Bon Jovi, The Bangles and Whitney Houston. I prefer the songs from the first 10 years of my life, but except for Rick Astley (where is he now?), they arent bad.
Happy New Year to everyone, I am hoping for some big positive changes this year that seem to be just blooming, and good health to everyone, because when there is life, there is hope.
Dearest Ingrid,
I have seen someone fight and stay hands on, and sane through so many hard things in your life that I could NEVER have handled. And you did it and made it seem like no big deal. I will always be on your side through any of your endeavors. xoxoxooxoooxoxox ~tt
Thank you so much Tamara. Sane is a relative term, but I have a very good therapist. Now I look back I dont know how I did it, and before he even left the hospital I had to put my cat to sleep and I did it, and I dont even know how, just that it sucked. He is doing well, thankfully, and some things are better than they ever were. I still went to 7 funerals this past year, which I think is a new record for me, but I am just going to have to keep looking at the good things when I can. As always, thankful for you
Ha! We have the same song and I’m not posting it, but will attempt to post about the humor surrounding it
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rickrolling
that is great, Lisa, there are a ton of Rick Astley jokes, so it isnt the beatles; what can we do?
“Hips Don’t Lie” by Shakira. Hmm…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUT5rEU6pqM
We should just all give up to Gingerella now. She’s going to have the best 2022 of all of us.
Thank you! I certainly hope that 2022 is a step up for all of us! 🙂
Mine is Heart of Glass by Blondie, number 2 that year is I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor. I’ll take that.
“My Sharona”. I’m ancient. Thanks For taking me back to the good old days
Heard this song yesterday with my husband. We were trying to remember the artist. I thought it was Weird Al Yankovich which his version was My Bologna haha good times
That’s mine as well
Lose Yourself by Eminem.
This is the first song I never heard before. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbr60I0u2Ng
Oh no – this is a TERRIBLE game! Are you ready for this? I was not ready for this. Mine is, End of the Road by Boyz to Men. So, then I thought of Audrey’s idea of the week of my 22nd birthday and it’s Saved the Best for Last!
What is going to happen to me?? I’m vaxxed & boosted and just bought a new car with automatic emergency braking, but still, this has not been a comforting couple of years.
I think my heart rate is a little elevated after looking up my songs.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDKO6XYXioc
Sometimes we need to say goodbye to people.
I love that song! It just means getting rid of relationships that bring you down. Is there someone toxic you need to get rid of in 2022? It’s about shedding people who no longer serve a purpose in your life. You will be fine and BRAND NEW if you just get rid of the toxic people in you life. That is all the song is about.
Congratulations on your new car! I don’t know what emergency braking means. I live in Atlanta so I probably should.
Mine is hold on by Wilson Phillips
Very good and likely true
Same. Prefer our birth year song though- Hey Jude. 1968 rocked
Tamara, I am confused. I commented earlier and my comment went to moderation but has not been posted. If I am not welcome here could you let me straight out know that? Am I posting wrong? I am hoping it is the latter.
It may have unintentionally had a ‘trigger word’ in it, I’ve heard of that before
Thank you. I am.not sure what happened, maybe just needed time to post. Btw, one of my dearest friends I call Jess😊 Have a great day!
Depending upon which list you look at, the #1 song for me (the year) was That’s What Friends Are For (also). But… for my specific month/day is was ‘Low’ from Flo Rida… I’m not quite sure how to take any of that lol
The top 10 for the year were – and I’ll take a few of them as positive:
That’s What Friends Are For – Dionne Warwick,Elton John, and Gladys Knight
Say You,Say Me – Lionel Richie
I Miss You – Klymaxx
On My Own – Patti Labelle and Michael McDonald
Broken Wings – Mr. Mister
How Will I Know – Whitney Houston
Party All the Time – Eddie Murphy
Burning Heart – Survivor
Kyrie – Mr. Mister
Addicted to Love – Robert Palmer
“Roll with It” by Steve Winwood
Mine is “We Belong Together“ – Mariah Carey
First time posting
Mine was 1987 “walk like an Egyptian” by the Bangles. What the hell does that mean for me in 2022? Lol. I’d love some feedback!
Happy new year to everyone! And thank you, TT for the recaps, the tea, banjo and the community! ♥️
Kesha Tik Tok
LMAO…Gangsta’s Paradise. Not sure what to make of that.
My song is “Love Will Keep Us Together” by the Captain and Tennille. Love the setiment but can’t stand the song. I prefer the #3 song of the year “Philadelphia Freedom” by Elton John. This is very weird because my husband and I are huge Philadelphia Eagles fans and my son currently lives in Philadelphia!!
We are birthday year twins! My ex used to call them The Captain and Toenail LOL
https://youtu.be/_QNEf9oGw8o
We are birthday year twins! My ex used to call them The Captain and Toenail LOL
I’m not exactly following the rules but the song “Lean on Me” by Billy Withers comes to mind. It meant a lot to me and a few others at a time we needed the shoulder. You have friends hear who will listen.
Allison Dubois though, that was such a great housewives episode. I admit to watching Medium.
That Alison Dubois debacle episode was the VERY FIRST RH show I had ever seen!
My sister INSISTED I watch the rerun because THE SUCCUBUS had been dramatically smoking a black electronic cigarette. If I had seen RHOBH before the Succubus smoking, I would have been laughing uncontrollably. Mom was dying and we all were a mess, near hysteria.
I was very upset because I had LOVED Alison Dubois! Then Duh! I did not love Alison Dubois, I loved Patricia Arquette AS Alison Dubois! Similar to how upset I’ve been about SJP, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon coming out against Chris Noth. DUH! I have been seeing it as the SATC ladies against Mister Big! Not the same thing!
I have recently stolen the word SUCCUBUS from Nanette to explain what happened to my favorite sibling after he married the fucking SUCCUBUS and sort of transformed into the male Nene “I’m Rich, Bitch” Leakes. I still remember when he was a good person who loved me. Now he just sort of tries to go through the motions. He does have some nice kids though.
Don’t Go Breaking My Heart
Elton John and Kiki Dee
Fun idea! Happy New Year! Mine was Man in the Mirror by Michael Jackson. Not my favorite MJ song but probably important due to the times we’re living in right now. 🤔
On my 22nd birthday it was “It Must’ve Been Love.”
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=k2C5TjS2sh4
Number one song in August of 19.., Roll With It by Steve Winwood. Excellent advice as I usually roll with it. Happy New Year, here’s to getting back to what we consider normal.
Happy New Year everyone! The top song for my 22ND year was Sugar, Sugar by the Archie’s (I’m old). How the hell do I interpret that?! The top song for my birthday week was In The Year 2525.
Don’t feel bad LurkLady. I got the same top song for the year. For my birthday it was either Everyday People by Sly & the Family Stone or Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In by The 5th Dimension.
Aquarius has been in my head all week
Oops! I guess I do not win the Methuselah Tiara.
The first time I heard Everyday People was at SF Winterland NYE 1969-1970.
Bill Graham was a genius at putting bands together. I had never heard of Sly & the Family Stone, from nearby Oakland.
A carload of us Deadheads (before the term was coined) sang Everyday People the whole way home!
Loved the 5th Dimension! Sugar, Sugar not withstanding, we did have some great music in the 60’s, didn’t we?
Yes, we did but 50’s Doo-wop actually gives me the feels….
Love that too! 🤗🤗
https://youtu.be/7Bwwo7ctG10
I am loving this Tamara. Happy, Healthy New Year to you and your Banjo Baby.
https://youtu.be/7Bwwo7ctG10
Is this a “favorite love song” thing? There are so many! I recently watched The new Spielberg Movie/Musical West Side Story and cannot get “Tonight, Tonight” out of my head.
Happy, Healthy and Peaceful New Year to you and your Banjo Baby!
Why is my post awaiting moderation? Did I get on Tamara Tattles naughty list?
Not on the naughty list, you just posted a link along with about 50 other people since I was trying trying to post all the Youtubes before the tornados stopped and I finally went to bed. I was napping for a bit. Everyone should be through now.
Endless Love. Hopeless romantic that I am
I turned 22 in December of 1971. The song that was #1 then was Family Affair by Sly and the Family Stone. There will be a family wedding in July that l am not attending. Hmm. The number 1 song for the year 1971 that came up was Maggie May/Reason to Believe by Rod Stewart. I love that song! Saw Rod Stewart several times in concert back then. Fun game, Tamara!
If you lived in SF back then, odds are good that we were at many of the same shows/concerts!
Nanette, no, I was in the Boston area, where I grew up. I moved to San Francisco in January 1980. Happy New Year to you! I always enjoy your comments.
I misread the instructions. Or didn’t read them at all. I did not turn 22 when Diana Ross and Lionel Richie came out with Endless Love.
I am not even drinking. And I don’t know why.
I can see why a post of mine went to moderation though.
Ha! I love this post. And clearly, you don’t seem to know you are my favorite. 🙂 Happy New Year my friend.
I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston.
https://youtu.be/Y0pdQU87dc8
Mine is Everything I Do, I Do For You by Bryan Adams
I dunno how I feel about it. I hope it means I will have people in my life to depend on and not more for me to do.
I got the same at a first look, but there was another list over best songs of 1991, which is Smells Like Teen Spirit.
Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley…hahahaha I think that means I’ve been Rick Rolled lol!
My husband’s song for 1979 was “My Sharona” by The Knack. This is spooky because my given name is Sharon. He and I met in 1980 and married in 1982 (still together).
Ode to my family by the Cranberries. Dolores had a beautiful voice and died way too young.
https://youtu.be/Zz-DJr1Qs54
Mine is Bette Davis Eyes. Haven’t heard that in a while.
Hanging by a Moment
Right now I am remotely watching Passion 22 at Atlanta. I couldn’t afford the travel, or I would be a Door Holder right now.
It’s sold out at Mercedes Benz. I am being blessed by at least watching it from home.
God has been doing amazing things, and I know that someone will experience Him through this conference. People have been praying for this place and time for weeks.
First time poster but I’m in great company with that’s what friends are for. And in this case it’s correct
“Night Fever” by the BeeGees. I will have to go back and listen to that one. Not sure what THAT means.
Hey all you young whippersnappers! I win the Methuselah Tiara!
I had to look for the #1 country song too! Because I was A LOT country and A LOT rock and roll! And this was when Gram Parsons and the New Riders of the Purple Sage were bringing those two worlds together. (Also the Year Parsons died on my 22nd birthday.)
Rock (sort of): Tie a Yellow Ribbon ‘Round the Old Oak Tree, Tony Orlando & Dawn – love the message, not the song
Country: (Hey, Did You Happen to See) The Most Beautiful Girl, Charlie Rich – love the singer and the song
For 2022, I guess some long lost love will get out of prison or I will meet a blind guy who will cheat on me and want me back (the story of my life, without the guy being blind).
I never realized that TMBG was considered a country song! I sing that to my pug; ‘hey, did you happen to see the most beautiful pug in the world…and if you did, was she begging, begging’..
My song is ‘We Are the World’; does that mean I’m gonna get fat(ter)? 🙂
Back to the shit show
“How You Remind Me” by Nickelback….BLECH
Mine is “Macarena”. Ugh. So I looked up the #1 song the week of my 22nd birthday….”Macarena”. LOL
Mine could be good or bad…depending on who shows up. “The Way We Were.”
I love seeing us all come together over music. I needed this kind of start to 2022. xoxoxoxo
All of this makes sense now. We are just a bunch of Golden Girls who bicker. We is old people. With some younguns who keep us hip to whatever young people do these days.
Also for the second night in a row Banjo and I were up all night and slept all day, errr good morning? We’ve had two nights of tornado warnings here. I had dozens of comments in moderation when I woke up. And no you are not in WLS, but links are “not allowed” so they go to moderation and for the sake of this post, I put them all through. I was trying to do it myself until I nodded off.
We need to do something like this more often. Love you all my big ole crazy chosen family
First time commenter, long-time lurker! Couldn’t pass this one up. My song from 2000 is “Breathe” by Faith Hill.
Well FINALLY we drag you out of the woodwork. Hope you will stick around and comment. The Rona has us all in the dumps over here and we need more comments ie fun interactions here.
Gangsta’s Paradise, 1995 🙂 Will be interesting to see how this plays out!
Oh wow, lol. Do keep us posted!
Billboard charts Roll with it by Steve Winwood.
Country charts Don’t close your eyes by Keith Whitley.
My birthday song was in 1976 was “Do You Know Where You’re Going To?” By Dianna Ross from Mahogany.
Now at 67 the song is true! I do know where I am going to… going to see my grands and son and daughter after 3 years! Hopefully after 3 shots I can travel my 1000 miles.
That sound has always been beautiful to me. Safe travels to you. I hope you have a wonderful time!
Oops, song not sound (well, sound too actually😋)
This is How You Remind Me- Nicole back. Delimma- Nelly my birthday week. Idk about both of these songs…lol. im nervous
*Nickleback
Cher – Believe
Very fitting, pretty sure my marriage has not survived 2021.
On a lighter note, numerologically speaking we are entering a 6 year (2+0+2+2) which is all about harmony and FAMILY (including online families 🥰). For the record 2021 was a 5 year (change and chaos) and 2020 was a four year which rules health! The planets are much more harmonious this year than the past two so we should be in for a less big pile of shit 🤞🤞. Happy New Year to all y’all from the cold and snowy north!
Canookian, my 35 year marriage exploded in 2021. I would love a year of harmony. Yeah 2022!
Mine is “End of the Road” by Boyz II Men.
A nice song.
As a fortune? Rather disturbing!
Maybe I’ll put off that lung cancer screen that my doctor told me to get. 😳
YIKES!
I’ve been in touch with a family member “on the other side” recently.
For real? Cool.
I have so many friends & family who have…uh…”gone to the other side”.
I’d LOVE to be able to speak to any of them just one more time 😥
Baby got Back by Sir Mix-a-lot…well then LOL!
I prefer country too so I looked up country song on my 22nd birthday…Achy Breaky Heart…great! LOL
Yikes! “Love will Keep Us Together!” Hardly a classic but catchy none the less. Lol
Mine is Gangsta’s Paradise. Here is a quote from the lyrics
“Tell me why are we so blind to see
That the ones we hurt are you and me?”
Happy 2022!
Damn. Killing Me Softly was #1 the year I turned 22. I don’t even wanna think about what that means for the year ahead!
If it wasn’t Roberta Flack, it doesn’t count :-):-):-)
Call Me by Blondie🤨
My song is “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston. This made me cry because tomorrow will be six months from my husband’s death.
Hmph.
I turned 22 in October of 2001.
The number one song of the year was
Hanging by a Moment by Lifehouse
🤮 *gag* No need to revisit that piece of crap.
I claim the end of Gen X and will remain in the 80s and 90s with everyone else, tyvm.
However, as a prophetic title – kinda not so bad.
My song at 22 was ‘Hey Jude’, which I’ve never liked, by the Beatles. At #4 that year was ‘Sittin On The Dock Of The Bay by Otis Redding. I do love this song.
