Thanks for being patient with me tonight and allowing me to delay my Below Deck recap. It’s the highest rated show on Bravo, but I still have some personal priorities. Banjo and I are on different sleeping schedules and it’s complicated. This dog used to only go twice a day. Now, he needs to go out twice an hour. We enjoyed watching The Voice together, but I couldn’t sing to him much because it was the finale and everyone was belting it out. Also, because I cannot sing. Shhh don’t tell Banjo, I’m all he knows. : ) Okay, on with the show!
Team Mustache Ride
Well now, from the title it seems like someone is going home. I hope it is not Jessica. She’s a third stew, that means she is still learning and Heather is not very good at training. Also, as I have said before, Jessica and Fraser were both on WHHL a few weeks ago and both felt like Heather basically did nothing. Meanwhile, we begin with Rayna fighting with Jake. Eddie walks up to intervene because the charter guest can hear her. Eddie is not that great with personnel issues. Rayna storms off mumbling “I don’t want anything to do with this boat. I’m Team Mustache Ride.
However. Wes seems to be taking Rayna’s side. Bad move. Captain Lee loves Eddie. He’s like his new Katie. He’s the one Captain Lee trust and confides in. Then Wes tells the camera he thinks Rayna is over reacting. Wes is the peacekeeper within a turbulent deck crew.

Rachel pulls off another amazing Greek dinner. Eddie declines Captain Lee when he asks for a deckhand update. He wants to handle it themselves. Rayna tells Eddie that Jake is disrespectful. Jake tells Heather that Rayna give him attitude about everything. Eddie compliments Rayna. Fraser and Heather chat on break about Jessica. They are over her. How the heck do you choose between Rachel’s French toast and biscuits and gravy? I don’t even like breakfast. But, I would have to order both. Or a half order of each? When I was a senior in high school I was also a freshman in college. I had to go to the high school to take senior history because they didn’t allow us to take it earlier. At the college me and my bestie would have “sperm and biscuits” for breakfast. We thought were were very clever with that nickname. LOL.
Who Wants A Ticket Home?
It’s time to say goodbye to these charter guests. The were nice. The primary said watching the deck crew trying to get the slide up was the funniest thing he’d ever seen. That pissed off Eddie. When the guests left, Rachel says, “I’m afraid.” Captain Lee responds with “Some people should be.” UT OH. Everyone is worries about Captain Lee being pissed. Rayna says, “I don’t get paid enough to be this stressed.” It’s time for a crew meeting. They are halfway through the season and Captain Lee is unhappy with the deck crew. He is fine with the interior. Take that Heather! But he threatens to fire the deck crew if they can’t get it together. The tip was “only” $19K.

Captain Lee calls a meeting with the deck crew. He blesses them all out. He threatens to fire all of them if they can’t get their shit together. There was a lot of cussing. He’s really pissed. He says if he has to fire all four of them he will just cancel the rest of the season. Ut Oh. There are no more second chances. Rayna sort of lets it go in one ear and out the other. Eddie feels bad. Everyone just wants their shore leave.

Watch Your Mouth!
The crew took a beautiful boat ride to a Beach Club. It’s fancy. Did Heather just order well done steak in public? What’s next? A-1? At dinner Eddie tells the deckhands they are going to practice putting the slide up and down the next day. Heather, who is in a relationship gets really cozy with Jake. Wes and Jessica also get pretty close. It’s almost last call and the couples are forming. Remember that? 🙂 Jessica kissed Wes before going to bed. She tells production she doesn’t remember kissing him. Heather thinks she is a rapper. And whatever she was rapping had a whole lot of the N word. I knew I didn’t like Heather this whole season. Rayna points out that is “cancel culture” behavior. She can’t use that word. Heather also said it twice in the bar to Rayna.

Rayna is being very chill about this situation. But, Heather denies she even said the word and then runs off to her cabin. Well, Heather you did say it. She tells Rachel, her bunkmate, that Rayna made her feel bad. And she again denies saying it. Seriously? It happened five seconds ago. And Rayna was BEYOND cool about it. She was just letting you know that’s not okay. She said it at the bar, she said in the crew mess. They next day Rayna admits to the film crew that Heather’s behavior was NOT okay. If there is a reunion, Heather should probably fake Covid or something.
Getting The Kinks Worked Out
The next morning, the crew practices putting the slide out. And bringing it back in. Captain Lee once again praises Fraser for his laundry duties. Then, Captain Lee holds a preference sheet meeting. The next guests are interesting. The female primary will be arriving with her jaw wired shut due to an automobile accident. So she cannot eat any solid food. They want a silent disco beach party. WTF is silent disco? Meanwhile, Jessica and Fraser prepare the rooms for new guests. They talk about Jessica and Wes’s attraction. Wes is confused by Jessica Name one thing you have seen Heather do. I dare you. I think she has written down a few breakfast orders and occasionally carried out a plate or two. That’s it.

Captain Lee is not happy with Eddie and the deck crew. And that is on Eddie. He’s threatening to start handing out plane tickets home courtesy of Captain Lee’s Travel Agency. UT OH! Eddie says that the deckhands mistakes reflect poorly on him. He should have been SUPERVISING and INSPECTING their work! That is all on him! Rayna complains to Wes about how Heather is saying the n word all the time but she is constantly the one in trouble. Wes doesn’t know what happened and Rayna. Then on a smoke break, Rayna tells Fraser what happened with Heather. And what happened with Eddie. She seems that she was really anger with Heather and took it out on Eddie. Rayna apologizes to Eddie. She tells him about Heather’s rapping. He sort of blows it off. She leaves and mutters, “He doesn’t understand.”
Again, thanks for understanding about the delay. Sometimes, life calls.
Yikes! At first, I actually didn’t believe you that Heather said the n* word, but I just went on Eddie’s Instagram and Heather’s Instagram and they are both being raked over the coals. So wow. Just wow. I’m glad I didn’t watch the episode tonight. It would have made my heart ache. How horrible.
Well she said it to Rayna of all people when talking about one of the other crew members, TWICE. Then later on the boat she was apparently rapping some rap that uses the word multiple times.
Need to watch it again because RAYNA said it about Jake, and Heather repeated it verbatim, one time. Back in the crew mess she was “singing” a rap song that had it featured, which is when Rayna called her on it.
Rayna then runs around telling everyone, making it more of an issue. Then goes to “apologize” to Eddie, and throws that in to deflect from her own behavior and piss poor work ethic and abilities.
Should Heather have said it? Heck no! But she didn’t say it to be disrespectful or nasty, which is what Rayna is trying to make it look like.
Rayna absolutely sucks and should be fired. Eddie saying she has a future was horse crap, probably to appease her so she will stop complaining about everything.
I don’t watch this show anymore because I miss Kate. But yuck to anyone who orders a well done steak. You’re right TT, they may as well ask for A-1 which is disgusting and or ketchup.
The things I would order if I had a professional chef…
I would go for biscuits and gravy even though she is known for her french toast. Captain Lee was not having the bullshit but him ordering breakfast from Rachel was sweet.
@Meredith, well done steak with A-1? People have their preferences but I consider that abuse of a good steak.
I still don’t like Jessica. She is lazy and whiny.
Oh Heather I stuck up for you, in my mind, thinking lots of interior stews have complained about the chief stew doing nothing. I thought well they don’t see all the chief does organizing, planning and implementing required for a 5 Star experience. But…How stupid and entitled this blonde bitch is using such an offensive word. And she said it more than once and then denied it!! Not okay. I can’t believe Rayna was so gracious about it! Eddie should have shown more compassion. Tsk Tsk Just saying.
PS Love the Banjo anecdotes!! The singing to him brought a tear to my eye
TT’s love and devotion to Banjo is the sweetest thing ever. In addition to TT’s awesome sense of humor, she has an amazing sense of kindness and humanity for those deserving furbabies.
What a sorry ass bunch of crew they are the worst. Debbie Downer has nothing on these guys.
They are the most obnoxious, self absorbed, boring bunch of almost attractive crew in the entire Bravo family (with the ABSOLUTE exceptions of Capt. Lee, Eddie and the glorious Rachel, who is less than one step closer to world domination).
Here’s what I saw. If I missed anything, let me know.
– Rayna calls Jake “that N-word” on the way back from the loo.
– Heather repeats it (something I would never do, just to be clear).
– Rayna laughs.
Ie, Rayna does not turn round and say “Hey, I know I said that but it’s not okay for you to do it,” or similar. Her laugh seemed to clearly indicate that she had no objection to Heather using the word.
– Heather later raps using the word (again, I’d never do that), not behind Rayna’s back but in front of her, which I assume is because she feels that Rayna laughing gave consent.
– Rayna then turns on her and says not to use it.
– Heather doesn’t push back at all. She goes quiet, says sorry (I think?) and leaves.
– Rayna then proceeds to tell everyone that Heather said the word coming back from the loo and it made her feel really uncomfortable, something contradicted by her reaction at the time (it didn’t seem like a nervous laugh to me, it seemed a cheerful agreement).
– At no point does Rayna say “Heather repeated me saying the word”.
I certainly feel that Heather seems too easy in saying it, but Rayna is distorting what happened and I’m never okay with facts being distorted.
Agreed. I hope this doesn’t become the storyline for the rest of the season. Captain Lee please make good on your threat to cancel the rest of the charters.
This is how far we’ve come. I’ve lived in Fort Lauderdale for 45 years and back in the old days the crews would refer to themselves as boat n-words (ouch). There was an article in the newspaper on how this has come to be unacceptable.
I think the issue is that Heather denied saying it at all.
She could’ve apologized and said she’d made a mistake but she got that good ol Bravo amnesia a few seconds after the incident.
Then she ran away and said Rayna made her feel bad. She should have felt bad for saying and not placed blame of her hurt feelings on Rayna.
Rayna made her feel bad because when Heather repeated it, Rayna didn’t say: “Can you not say that?” which would have (one HOPES!) put an end to it right there. Instead, Rayna laughed at having those words echoed back to her.
I think they’re both in the wrong here.
I agree!!!! Deflecting to Rayna – saying Rayna made her feel bad – SHE SHOULD FEEL BAD!
I saw it as Lisa describes.
Ok, so I watched the rap scene in slow mo and Heather did Not say it there. Rayna thought she heard it and interjected. When they pointed out they didn’t say it, she changes her story to ONLY apply to the bathroom. Just wanted to clarify – not excuse in any manner
Heather really is a POS. They way she gossips with Frazier about Jess is sooooo unprofessional. Jess seems to do fine with laundry and rooms.
I’m so over these chief stews thinking everyone should be at their level. It’s called a THIRD STEW for a reason. Gives me flashbacks to that one from Sailing Yacht.
There were actually subtitles when she was rapping with the word beeped out. Rayna confronted her right ways.
Nope, she didn’t. She let Heather repeat it from her and laughed on their way back from the bathroom. If she had dealt with it “right ways” then and there, instead of giving her implicit permission to do it again, it would have been infinitely better.
“Implicit permission”??? Wow. Why is it on Rayna to “deal with it then and there”??? Heather is a trashy, lazy, entitled, and IGNORANT human being, and in no way should the burden be put on Rayna to “teach” or inform Heather that using that word is absolutely inappropriate. For how highly Heather thinks of herself you’d think she would know better. But I digress.
When did Rayna ever *not* deal with anything then and there?
And yes, if you initiate the use of a very charged word, but don’t want someone else to use it, you need to make that clear. I quite agree with you that using that word is inappropriate – which is why Rayna shouldn’t have done it.
I’m kind of skeptical about Heather’s feelings on racism after she had to bring up having lunches thrown at her, having her arm broken, etc., when she was in high school because she was the only blond, white girl. I just don’t like Heather.
If it isn’t ok for you it isn’t ok for me. I think it is offensive when rappers talk about ho’s and N and I don’t refer to people as ho’s and N’s. Triggered isn’t a free pass. It seemed that she was only triggered when it suited her. I am sick of the crappy work attitudes and sloppy work and blame shifting. Also, unlike Lexi who got a free pass for personally attacking people and making a hostile work environment, this was not a personal attack. We Telegraph how we are to be treated. Rayna came off very sexual and loud to begin the season. I think Heather thought she was trying to be relatable rather than walking on eggshells. Rayna has had attitude from the beginning. Do your job, don’t complain and be a team. Being easily offended is a sure sign of immaturity. I think R was jelly of H getting mustache attention and used this out of context situation to run someone down and take the focus off her sloppy work
👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎
Like Heather I sometimes think I am a Rapper. Especially when I am driving in my car. Unlike Heather I never have nor will I ever use the “N” word. I.E. – Kayne West uses the “N” word in Gold Digger on multiple occasions, so when I rap along with Kayne I briefly go silent each time he uses it. I am really disappointed that Eddie just blew Rayna off. I expected a lot more from him. Sigh…..
This is why I admired Kelly as a bosun. When faced with unprofessional behavior from his staff, he wasn’t afraid to call them out. And when things escalated between Nicco and Trevvor, he got between them and removed Trevvor from the situation. Eddie wants people to be happy, but he needs to stronger up front. Or, as we’ve already talked about, they need someone in the bosun position. I think Eddie’s heart isn’t in it because it’s not his job. He’s operating exactly as you would if you were the first officer and there were a bosun and lead deckhand below you to deal with the deckhands.
I was glad to see them talk of practicing with the slide. The stupid slide is always an issue. Why aren’t there procedures or diagrams or markings on it to help? It’s stupid how little training there is on this show.
Have you tried Proin for Banjo. My Yuki needed it to help control her bladder and we haven’t had any accidents in months, but I do take her out often just in case. I’ll be honest I didnt watch, just here for you and Banjo!
When did Rayna ever *not* deal with anything then and there?
And yes, if you initiate the use of a very charged word, but don’t want someone else to use it, you need to make that clear. I quite agree with you that using that word is inappropriate – which is why Rayna shouldn’t have done it.
