Happy Thursday, and welcome to this week’s RHUGT Recap. In this episode, we continue to watch the unraveling of Kenya’s and Cynthia’s friendship. We also continue to watch Ramona crap all over her own Bravo legacy. We also get a special guest to show up for dinner, along with a wild night full of flirting and fighting.

Some New Friends, And A Lot Of Old Beef

After five episodes, we finally see more of the Housewives use the in-house confessional room. We kicked off Episode #6 with “Coffee Talk with Melissa and Kyle”. Meanwhile, upstairs Ramona continued to lose her shit.  Kenya blabbed to her aunt about how much she couldn’t stand Ramona. And down at the pool, Cynthia expressed her own frustration over being the odd one out. Speaking of oddities: When did Teresa decide to launch an athleisure line with Electric Yoga? Hey, Sheree, are you taking notes?

At breakfast, Luann and Kenya bonded some more while rehashing the previous day’s yacht trip debacle. Luann thanked Kenya for making it clear that Ramona’s behavior really is that horrible. Meanwhile upstairs, Ramona pleaded her case to Teresa in hopes that someone else in that house would stick up for her. Teresa did voice some sympathy, but in a very shady way in her confessional. Teresa basically implied that Ramona’s acting up because “she’s lonely.” Cue Michael the concierge to come up and help Ramona finish her plans for everyone this day. Also, Kyle calls Mauricio to plot out his surprise crashing of the girls’ trip later that evening.

New Beginnings, Or Ugly Endings?

While Cynthia was enjoying her #CHill (alone) time outside, Ramona barged out to apologize for Glam-gate and find someone, anyone, to be in her corner. Ramona has out of favor with Luann again. Teresa is only willing to accept so many of her apologies.  Kyle was already plotting her violation of Ramona’s sacred “girls’ night out” rule. So, it became Cynthia’s turn to be Ramona’s on-camera friend. En route to the beach, Kenya gushed over her new bestie Luann’s Cameo game: “Money can’t buy you class, but Luann is cleaning up on Cameo. Six figures!” Kenya, Luann, and Teresa all bonded together over their shared loathing of Ramona.

In the other car, Cynthia admitted that she’s feeling down over Kenya forming new alliances with the other Housewives in Turks and Caicos while Cynthia had to fend for herself. At this point, Cynthia asked the Housewives in the other car (Ramona, Kyle, and Melissa) for a fresh start. They all accepted. But in her solo confessional, Kyle snarked, “Do I think Cynthia and I will be great friends? Probably not. She’s just not that fun!” It was wild to watch Ramona hold back her shit-eating grin as she got to hear Cynthia unload on how she felt like she had to “fight for Kenya’s attention”.

Cynthia And Ramona Try To Hit The Reset Button

Once they arrived at the beach, Michael gave them their signature cocktails. Then. Michael kinda-sorta recreated that moment on the RHONY Season 3 “Scary Island” trip when Kelly Bensimon gave the ladies a “sexy photoshoot” on the beach. At least this time, no one tried to drag Al Sharpton, satchels of gold, or jelly beans into the fight. Kenya and Kyle, however, found more joy in dragging Ramona for her nonsensical poses. And WTF, Luann went in a big clear ball??!! In a sense, it makes perfect sense that their beachy photoshoot made no sense.

On a more serious note, Cynthia asked herself, “What is wrong with me? Why am I so upset?” She went to Luann next to try to figure out what went wrong for her on this trip. Then, as Cynthia served up pure glamour for Michael’s camera, Ramona was being ridiculous in the water… Because, Ramona. Ramona then took Luann aside to plead her case to The Countess. Of course, the shady producers included some “beautiful” footage of Ramona being horrible to Luann and Bethenny. Luann finally put her feet down and told Ramona she wouldn’t cut Ramona any more slack. However, Luann did say, “I feel some sympathy for her. She’s feeling lost right now. She can use some friends.” They hugged it out, but Luann put Ramona on notice.

Conch Block

Back at the lunch table, Ramona tried to convince everyone she was really contrite. Melissa and Kyle were polite in their confessional sit-down assessments of Ramona’s “Apologizer” shtick. But, Kenya was not: “She’s not going to change!” But OMG, Teresa’s confessional was the shadiest: “Ramona needs a little more yoga in her life, and more sex. Then, she will be chill.” At least no pineapples or cantaloupes were harmed during the filming of that confessional. Speaking of sex, Kyle showed us how she did it with Maurcio at that one black tie gala. I’m still speechless.

Eventually, they all returned to the villa to prepare for dinner with John the Conch Shack boss. Ramona put crystals on her face for the big occasion! So did Luann and Cynthia! At the house, Ramona turned up her flirtation to 11 because she couldn’t get enough of John. Then, all of a sudden, Mauricio finally popped in. And at the other end of the dinner table, Cynthia was still all by herself. Back at the center of the action, Kenya and Luann decided to poke fun at Ramona fan-girling over John. Kenya proceeded to unload some more on Ramona’s awful behavior.  Kenya just buried Ramona in her own shit.

And Just Like That, We’re Almost Done With RHUGT Season 1

Of course, Ramona lost her shit over Kenya poking at the bear. Luann sat back and enjoyed the show of Ramona getting a taste of her own poisoned medicine. Melissa and Teresa enjoyed the shitshow as Luann jumped in to swipe John away from Ramona. Kyle and Cynthia were not amused, however, and they jumped away from the table to check on Ramona after she ran away. Ramona was pissed over Kenya’s “lack of etiquette.” That’s pretty rich coming from Ramona. Luann got John’s number, and Ramona finally gave up her fantasy of becoming the Conch Shack Queen. On that note, we end Episode #6. And can you believe it?  We only have two more episodes of RHUGT! And, it looks like Peacock will drop them both next week. Until then, chic c’est la vie!

I hate that Cynthia is being so ostracized. It makes me sad. She’s always been a bit on the fragile side. She should have brought some friend contracts.

Yeah, it’s so saddening to see Cynthia being sidelined and faded away from the Housewives World in real time. They could have at least let her enjoy some kind of soft landing here. Instead, they’re just tossing her aside like last season’s fashion.

Me too! I love Cynthia! These trips are a place for bold personalities. If they were all together for a month, they would over the big personalities and learn to appreciate Cynthia’s quiet wisdom. She was our only sanity on RHOA besides Candy.

Poor Cynthia…I hoped she’d have a great time and depart the RH in a blaze of partying, cocktails and tropical dresses, instead she’s been upset pretty much the whole trip…what a shame 🤗

Fortunately, we shouldn’t wait too long for RHUGT Season 2. And hopefully from there, they’ll shake things up some more in Season 3.

Between this and the trailer for RHOM Season 4, I’m feeling increasingly confident that this show is in good hands at Peacock. It’s just too bad that the Bravo folks haven’t been as good in keeping up their own Housewives shows.

Do Peacock and Bravo have some kind of relationship under a parent company? Peacock, or whoever was responsible, did a really good job with the look of this show. I haven’t watched this episode yet, but I got overly excited when I saw TT’s post in my email. I’ll most likely be back with comments after I see it. THANKS!!

Comcast owns NBC, Bravo, and Peacock. Interestingly, it looks like Peacock now has the A Team with the very sleek design of RHUGT, and with the top-notch aesthetics that they’re teasing for the RHOM reboot. For all the chatter over how the Housewives and other Bravo shows are feeling increasingly stale, Peacock has found a way to breathe some fresh new life into the franchise IMHO.

I am really enjoying watching the women interact. The emotions and conversations seem less phony and planned like they are in the HW shows.
Ramona’s behavior is atrocious! But as badly as she behaves it doesn’t take away from the other women bonding and appreciating each other’s company.
Today I watched the wWHL episode with all the women on zoom. Almost reunion style. It made me think the show abruptly finished at John’s dinner party! Good to know there are a few more episodes to tie up loose ends!
Thank you for the great recaps atdleft!

Yes, it was a little weird how they suddenly *clipped* that episode right at the end of John’s party. Otherwise, this was another solid RHUGT episode.

Though Ramona’s presence here reminds me why I have such a hard time watching her run the same feedback loop of bad behavior over and over again, at least she hasn’t overpowered the entire show the way her shitshows have sometimes left such strong odors on RHONY. IMHO, it really helps to have Kenya and Teresa there as counterbalances to call out Ramona’s bullshit and keep the storylines moving.

Also, it is showing a very interesting side to Teresa in this series. Much more likable! Nice to see this aspect of her personality. I do like seeing her calling out Ramona and defending LuAnne but in a much more relatable way.

Kenya is horrible. I am not impressed with Peacock’s production of the girls trip. I have watched the Real Housewives franchise’s from the beginning and I agree that Ramona can really be over the top and insensitive a lot of the time. However, I didn’t appreciate the circus like music throughout this episode when Ramona was on the screen. That was very humiliating and quite frankly uncalled for. Kenya had a mission in mind when she went on the show and it was to get Ramona. Kenya is a vile, nasty human being who bullies everyone. I have no idea how Lu Ann fell so deep into Kenya’s mean girl spell but it was pretty shocking to watch. Her book on class should probably be thrown away or maybe she should read it!! Why go out of your way to humiliate Ramona with John. That was hard to watch even if you completely hate Ramona.

Well said. Luanne stooped to a low level by openly flirting with John. But it also showed John’s character to accept it. Say what you will about Ramona but I would have to end my friendship with Luanne.

I am so enjoying Kenya aka the “shade assassin”!! I had to look up how to spell assassin. Lonely? Shit, I’m lonely and you don’t find me treating people like shit! I am so enjoying these episodes, even though I have only loaded it on my phone, I don’t know how to transfer it to my TV. Because, Boomer.

These shows almost better than regular seasons. We know all the players and are getting to see them in such a different way. We get all the travel porn, fabulous clothes and glam, inside scoop, and fourth walls busting loose. Who knew that the women had the option for hair and makeup for $100? Does that sound cheap? It sure does to me!

Let’s face it, Cynthia IS boring. I mean I love Cynthia but she is. She was a perfect counterpoint on RHOA, they needed SOMEBODY with some sense besides Kandi. But for a vacation? Nope, wrong answer. I think Theresa came off looking good, she basically didn’t fight with anyone – and that was some great tea that she wouldn’t sign on the Day Of The Baptism if they cast Melissa and Joe!! I do think it was shady of Melissa and particularly Joe to not discuss it with Theresa. I would be pissed too.

Thanks for the recaps! I am going to figure out how to add it to my tv this weekend when I have time. I also want Hulu back so I can watch the Hustler and the Housewife, and the Housewife and the Shah Shocker. Have a good weekend everyone!!

I am loving the show overall but this episode was a bit blah. I haven’t watch RHOA in years, Cynthia looks a lot different that she used to when she married Peter. Kenya is just stunningly gorgeous.

Ramona…. Ramona Ramona. My goodness. This woman just cannot go with the flow at all. I do admire her in the sense that she still wants to look hot, works out and wants to be seen as desirable in her 60s. I’m 15 years younger and I’d be like “f it, I want to wear sweatpants and eat pie”. 😂

Not sure about you all but it would make me crazy if I was with friends trying to get to a beach day and we spent until nearly 1pm getting glammed up to go to the beach! Wasting most of the morning and going during the hottest time of the day. I am rigidly on time and its a massive pet peeve of mine when people are late. My mother and her sisters (god rest their souls) were always late, and when we’d all go on vacation together I was herding cats. Usually I just lied about the time the tour was leaving, in the hopes we would make it, somewhat, on time.

I really hated how Kyle responded to Cynthia opening up her heart about feeling envious that Kenya was becoming close friends with the other girls (and leaving her out). Kyle was smug and had NO compassion. Not a good look.

I actually feel bad for Ramona. She is who she is and she’s not going to change. Even though she’s awful a lot of the time, it seems to be brainless in her awfulness and not intentional. She speaks without thinking and her worst moments are when she drinks too much (and who knows what medications are being mixed with the excessive alcohol.) Kenya was deliberately mean, picking at Ramona and demeaning her as an entire table of people sat back and did nothing. Then Luanne deliberately put the moves on John to get under Ramona’s skin. So high school. Kenya doesn’t come off looking great (and I like Kenya) after putting her hands on Ramona last week. They aren’t any better than Ramona with their obnoxious behavior!

Kenya came across a bit cruel this episode. Some of it is editing, but what she saw as a joke did not land as one at the dinner. I think losing control on the boat and getting physical threw her off balance a bit.

What I find most interesting is Cynthia. I now think that she already had some friction with Kenya prior to the trip, and she clearly knew that she was losing her peach too. It’s kinda sad for this to be her swan song as a housewife because she really was a great one, just not a crucial one. I’ll miss her on ATL.

I do agree with everything you say. I haven’t watched ATL in a long time but I have always liked both Kenya and Cynthia and I don’t think that Kenya would like to come across as a cruel person towards Romona. Ramona is not my favorite person, but as you said Kenya came off badly, Cynthia sadly, and Romona kind of just the same. I’m glad that Romona has now into real estate, Cynthia is married, and Kenya I hope will find her person and most of all will enjoy being a parent to her lovely daughter!
