HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

November 24, 2021 by tamaratattles 41 Comments

I’m going to get this up early because I am under the weather today with some weird headache thing. I almost never have headaches. So, I’m going to get offline and stop reading, ASAP and get some rest. Hopefully, it will be gone by tomorrow. I’m skipping Thanksgiving this year to be home with Banjo and avoid driving at night. I hope you all have a wonderful time whatever your plans are.

As always, I am very thankful for all of you! Tell me about all the family dramas in comments! LOL.

I was promised a vaccinated only Thanksgiving…then the one hold out anti vax jackwagon in the family says he has no where to go and now I’m terrified being in the house with him. The idea of sharing serving utensils and passed plates is freaking me out.

If it helps you feel better, load up his plate (no passing) and seat him at the other end of the table. Better yet, seat him at the “Kiddie Table.” FOR ONE.

Use lots of soap to clean his plate and utensils. Soap breaks down the layer protecting the virus; it’s destroyed in seconds. Have someone with less anxiety carry his stuff to the dishpan.

If you have a big farter in the family, have them aim their butt toward him! Maybe he will leave before dessert!

When you don’t think of others, sometimes that means you end up alone!

He should be TRULY THANKFUL you guys didn’t kick him to the curb.

      Happy Thanksgiving to you!

Lola you are a kind woman, because I wouldn’t have him at my dinner, he made his choice so he shouldn’t be included, but since y’all are letting him come all of his utensils would be plastic and paper plates, no one should have to worry about cleaning his dinnerware, and he would wear a mask except for eating 6 feet away from everyone else, hey he’s gonna accept this or stay home alone, nobody should have to worry about getting sick because of his choices, ijs ❣️

I’d either plate my food first and not touch any utensils or passed plates after that, or insist that someone plate his food for him and not let him touch anything.

Tamara, I hope your headache goes away soon.

Happy Thanksgiving Tamara & Banjo (and friends). I too will staying home with the fur babies. I don’t see well at night either. Apparently I have cataracts! That’s why my vision sucks even with my glasses. I guess I need to get that taken care of. I’ll cook a small Turkey breast so the pups can enjoy a bit of Turkey on top of their food and the cat can sniff disdainfully at me, lol. Be safe everyone who’s driving!

Staying home with my new little lovebird. Cataracts here too; waiting to make an appointment for surgery. Had a consultation last week, and the surgeon said the operation only takes 10-15 minutes and they can fix everything, from astigmatism to extreme near-sightedness. Amazing!

I got email that my pre-lit Christmas tree was on the way. Only 4 ft tall. I ordered some cookies too.

I will not see any family again this year. Most are vaccinated.

My son and his husband are picking me up tomorrow and we are driving about an hour away to spend the holiday with family. Thankfully everyone is vaccinated. Its the first major holiday I’ve spent away from home in ages and i am so looking forward to it! My significant other is staying home with our 4 dogs and 11 horses. He thinks holidays are stupid and that works out great for me. I have no guilt whatsoever leaving alone tomorrow and plan on getting hamered.

    Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

Putting up with all re-runs of all my fave shows, because I’m Canadian and when you all have big holiday we lose out on all our fave shows, we have to sit thru your parade, then dog show. I have no idea why it is we recognize your holiday when anything Canadian happens never do your news crews ever mention us. Just sayin’ is all. I do hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your loved ones, I hope you all are staying safe, and staying well. Enjoy.

Haha I was thinking of this today, also being Canadian. Nothing decent on my PVR tomorrow or Friday thanks to US Thanksgiving. Just a bunch of reruns and pre taped garbage. I might have to read a book!

There are WAY TOO MANY GOOD things available On Demand. So I think of it as “catch up time.”

One of my best friends at the first newspaper I worked for got us started on celebrating Canadian Thanksgiving AND the Grey Cup. Many people who work at newspapers do not get to celebrate with family because we have to work the day of, and the bracketing days, of the holidays.

Celebrating the Canadian days gave us new ways to share “special” days with each other, not just us left-behinds.

      PLUS, Nanaimo bars!!!

You are in my special Thanksgiving prayers.

What a wonderful thing the internet is that we can feel like we know people we’ve never met and feel their sorrows and joys, and try to support them.

I hope that next Thanksgiving will be filled with blessings. Until then, I hope the love will carry you through.

Nanette! Thank you so much…you will never know how much that means to me. I’m kind of an introvert, and don’t comment a lot, but I read and pray for people also all of the time..including you. What happened this year I feel like has forever changed who I am. But I’m thankful for people like you, and TT, who have helped me in ways you don’t even know. So thank you again and Happy Thanksgiving!

Over the years my Thanksgiving holiday has dwindled down from around 25 friends/family members to a whopping 3 this year! LOL! My mom passed away 10 years ago and I will say that she definitely was the glue of our family. When she passed, (and my sister 7 months prior to mom passing), we all just started having individual dinners with our own immediate families – sad but true. There are no hard feelings in my family, it just didn’t seem the same without Mom there so our tradition ended. ANYHOO, TT, Banjo and all the commenters, I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving. Now it’s time to start the “Depressmas” season. . I just realized tis will be my 43rd Thanksgiving dinner I have prepared! I always hosted the big holidays and loved it.

Happy Thanksgiving TT and Everyone, will be spending the morning with my oldest granddaughter she’s autistic and we’ll be watching the parade at my house, while my oldest daughter her mom just cooks us a dinner of Turkey breast, rice green beans, even though babygirl will have pizza, 😂 and even though everyone is vaccinated I’ll eat here and my youngest daughter ( who elected to work today) will have dinner with oldest daughter family, while my middle daughter will be having dinner with her 2 children and in-laws at her home, and we’re gonna FaceTime together , it’ll be great, better than last year, hopefully you feel better TT, i’ve already had my first margarita 😂 enjoy your day everyone ❣️

Can someone explain streaming to me? I just bought a smart tv. Do I have to pay for a YouTube channel or other services to watch tv? I have no idea how to do it.

Regular YouTube is free, but you can pay for the app and cut the cable cord. The app is about $45 a month for all tv channels.

    Miss Tamara,
I sent you a private message, but you merit a public Thanksgiving thank you from me on a public place.

Thank you for giving me respite from the chronic pain — what 4, maybe 5 years ago. I found you when I googled Project Runway recap, then I saw the other good crazy shit. I never left.

Thank you for the support you gave me when things were very tough. I has gotten better. That 2017 Thanksgiving at the Triple P (PooPoo PeePee Palace), after the landlords sold our rental house, would have been UNBEARABLE without the laughs I found here.

I hope you and your website are here for many years to come. In whatever iteration it is in, you have me as a devoted follower.

I hope you and Banjo have a wonderful day.

    XOXOX,
    ~ N

P.S. One day and a wake up!

    Happy Thanksgiving, one and all!

May you each find peace, comfort and gratitude today- whether it be in the form of a long awaited hug, a zoom/FaceTime connection, finding the unicorn deal on that Black Friday sale item, or savoring that extra piece of pie in solitude (nobody is there to judge you or need to share so enjoy every bite! Heck, have another, guilt free of course!)

I am personally grateful to TT, her side kick, Nanette, and ALL of you here… regardless of where you are, your political affiliation, real housewives opinions, whether you comment or lurk, you all make me feel less alone and part of a valuable community. In an era of isolation and fears, this place has been a refuge; a place to practice socialization and giving/receiving of support. I appreciate every single one of you.

A special shout out to Nancy in the Smokies for showing up for TT and for Tamara allowing her to help. Hope you both have a productive visit and that Banjo is okay with the situation.

Take care everyone. If you’re stuck with vaccine holdouts or are one yourself, please remember that mitigation efforts are still helpful (wear a mask in enclosed/indoor spaces) and be aware of the additional apprehension some around you might be feeling…one day of extra effort/cognizant behavior is not the end of the world to help ease the tension others might be feeling. No judgment meant today… just unsolicited common sense advice. Travel itself is probably adding to overall stress this year.

Sorry for the novel. I noticed an abundance of people on edge when going out in the world yesterday so I’m hoping everyone has calmed down by today! Holidays are stressful, periodT even without the elephant in the room.

Last but not least, for those who choose to sleep the day away in effort to forget about the hyped up holiday, may you have a restful slumber uninterrupted and sweet dreams of happier times.

Many virtual hugs being sent to all here! 🙂
