90 Day Fiance The Other Way Recap: Cold Feet

November 20, 2021 by tamaratattles 31 Comments

I can’t believe it has taken me so long to get to this 90 Day Fiance recap! I love this show. And it is time for Kenny and Armando’s wedding! I really wish I could do these earlier in the week! There are just so many Bravo recaps that get more views and I need to give the people what they want. If I didn’t need this site to keep me in wine and Banjo in dog food, I would so do this one and MAFS much earlier. Let’s get to it!

Jenny & Sumit

Can we please just get these two married this episode? I mean it is allegedly written in the stars. So, let’s just do it! Oh Lord. They are going to the astrologer again to find out what day to get married on. He tells them it is a good time to get married after nine days. But they can’t have a big celebration or a party. Sumit is already getting cold feet. Later, Jenny says she wants to go to the courthouse on day ten and get it done. He agrees. But, he tells Jenny that is divorce from his arranged marriage he claimed to hate was really devastating for him. Why doesn’t Jenny do something about Sumit’s “butt cut”? Even a side part could help.

Later they go to their immigration attorney and the astrologer tells them not to get married in a temple but just go to the courthouse. The lawyer says the courthouse process takes thirty days. That is in case someone objects. The lawyer says he can file the application for them today. Sumit starts freaking out. But they file the paperwork to get the ball rolling. Sometimes you guys irritate me especially because I follow some of these people on social media and know where they are now. But Sumit, putting the marriage license on hold?  That shows that you guys were right about Sumit the entire time. WTF?

90 Day Fiance The Other Way RecapEvelin & Corey

Why are they still on this show? They are going to see the wedding planner. Yet, they are already married. Evelin has dreams about Corey and Jenny so they fight about that. I dated a guy once and I used to dream that he cheated on me. He said this was a recurring problem with past girlfriends. Gee, can you guess why? We went on a weekend trip once and I stayed the night at his house when we got back. He went to work. I saw his phone bill on the table and saw lots of long phone calls to a particular number. I called from his house. Yep! Cheating. And there were more. Anyway, Evelin doesn’t want a religious wedding because those are forever.

Later these two fools go to the wedding planner and pick out all the details. Evelin keeps talking about divorce. Corey is not happy about that. I do understand Evelin’s perspective when she explains that when she gets on a plane she always notes where the emergency exits are. Not because she is expecting a plane crash but because she wants to be prepared for any outcome.

I’m not a nervous flyer I took my first long distance flight at age six (Atlanta to Tripoli Libya) at that point the flights were A LOT longer to get there there and it was like 24 hours on multiple planes. Ever since then, plane rides were just things we did a lot. Need to see an eye doctor? Fly to Italy. Mama needed a dentist or surgery? Fly to Malta. It was like taking a bus. I do pay close attention to exits and the flight attendants’ instructions. Evelin wants her sister to officiate the wedding. She hates Corey.

90 Day Fiance The Other Way RecapArmando & Kenny

Armando’s family is arriving for the wedding! He’s so nervous about his dad. Hannah rushes to the car to hug her grandmother. Armando hugs his dad. His dad gives Hannah a huge hug. While the family unpacks, his father goes outside for “fresh air.” Armando’s family told him that it was his message to his father that made him decide to come. She tells the camera that if he didn’t go he would care more about what people would say than his son.

Click Here For More 90 Day Fiance The Other Way Recaps!

Kenny’s family comes to join the party. He’s super excited. This is the first time Armando gets to meet some of the kids. Then it is time for tacos by the pool where both families meet for the first time. I want those tacos! Armando’s dad is nice to Kenny’s adult children. Especially the pretty blondes. lol. FINALLY, we get back to these two. It seems we won’t get to the wedding this week. 🙁  Kenny sits down with all of his kids for a talk. He starts talking about how much he loves his kids and how much he wanted kids. Kenny does want to adopt Hannah. But then he tells them that he and Armando have been to orphanages looking into adoption. Or perhaps even surrogacy. This goes over like a lead balloon.

His kids miss him so much. They feel like they could be replaced by a whole new family. For fucksake, these people are ADULTS! Kenny is hurt by the lack of support.

Ari & Bini

I am so over Ari and Bini. She is just such an entitled, privileged, bitch. I use to admire her for traveling on her own and especially to places like Ethiopia. That takes some bravery. But, as it turns out she is a terrible person. Ari, Bini, Avi and Ari’s meddlesome mother are all in Kenya. Apparently, Ari and Bini are barely speaking. Ari goes to take a nap. Bini and Ari’s mother decide to explore the town while both babies sleep. Mama bear just so happened to have an interpreter on speed dial. The mother refers to Bini and Ari’s house as “her house” and wants to know why there were so many people there including lots of females.

Click Here For More 90 Day Fiance The Other Way Recaps!

Bini explains to the interpreter that when Ari left FOR TWO MONTHS, he put a studio in the house so he could work from home so yes, there were a lot of people coming and going. Ari’s mom wants to know if he is cheating. She believes him. Bini says in confessional that he has lied to Ari in the past about going to clubs and hanging out with friends she doesn’t like. But, there was nothing bad going on and he just wanted to avoid the fights. He regrets doing that now. Later at home, Ari was debriefed on their coffee chat.

90 Day The Other Way RecapEllie & Victor

We don’t see much out of these two. I guess because filming the aftermath of a category 5 hurricane is probably very  problematic. Victor takes Ellie to his sister’s house where he and his family were together trying to survive the hurricane. He would have been safer in his own house which is mostly intact. This place was mostly blow away. They all hid under the kitchen sink in the cabinets for six hours praying for their lives. He was probably under there with his other girlfriend. IJS. These two just don’t seem that into each other.

Click Here For More 90 Day Fiance The Other Way Recaps!

Later, Victor and Ellie get into it over finances. HER finances. He is piss poor broke and feels entitled to all of her money. This comes up over a rum fueled happy hour. Victor wants kids. Ellie thinks she is past childbearing age. She also brings up how expensive babies are. As of the airing of this show, not the filming, it’s been almost a year since the island was wiped out.  They argue about the bar. It’s Covid and a bar isn’t going to be profitable until the island recovers. Next week, things get worse for most all of them. Especially, Ellie.

I love that you recap so I happily wait for it! You hit every point … I think summit has always bee n a liar so no surprise there. Ari travels the world on her parents dime. Kenny’s children are having children so I don’t get their reaction.

It seemed to me that Victor’s comment about not having a bike triggered Ellie since his side piece was going to buy him a bike. It must’ve been horrible during the hurricane but I think Ellie has more PTSD over her first husband and Victor cheating. And I’m actually on her side with that one.

Can’t wait to see the Mormon marriage next week and if Steven really goes through with it. And if Jenny wakes up.

Jenny and Sumit have been in it for the paycheck ever since their 2nd season. He quit his job, she has spent all her retirement money flying back and forth to be with him until her tourist visa runs out, rinse repeat. They are living on her social security check. What easier way to get income than to be on this show?

Arid mother refers to the house as her house because she pays the rent and provides the house keeper. Most likely covers all the bills.

I respectfully disagree. It is their home. They are married. If it was Bini & his family paying the bills & he referred to it as his home all hell would break loose.
If I recall Bini did provide a home it just wasn’t up to Ari’s standards.

You have gotten me hooked on these shows but I am confused and it seems by the time Friday rolls around I have seen the episode twice already. Can someone help explain to me what all the variations of the show are all about? There seems to be a preview, then another sneak peek. I only want to watch the one time but I am afraid to delete anything because I may delete the wrong one. Thanks.

That being said….the turn-around in Jenny’s mood is intoxicating! She seems so happy and upbeat! I can see her point that thirty days can be a long time if you are waiting to have someone oppose your marriage. Could the former in-laws of Sumit protest?

I don’t see much hope for Victor and Ellie, he seems shady and almost smirking sometimes. Perhaps it is because he is a dreamer. Ellis has a point, if tourists are not able to come to the island and the locals are struggling to put their lives back together how can a bar be successful?

Corey and Evelin- give it up already, she is never going to trust him and he seems so giddy about being back together…he will end up resenting being controlled by her wishes and cheat again.

Armando and Kenny— I don’t know what to think about them. On one hand they need to do what they need to do to be happy, but they both seem immature. I am not sure I would have brought up the possibility of another baby/child to the whole family before they are even married. Is there a reason they couldn’t live part time in Mexico and part time in the states? Not sure of their back story.

Ari and Bini—she is totally taking control and showing her true colors now that she has him away from his friends and family. Isn’t that what controlling, abusive people do? Isolate you from others? I feel for Bini, he doesn’t want to lose his son. If only he could get his son and get back to Ethiopia he could maybe prevent her from taking Avi away from him. I don’t see this ending too well.

    Thanks for recapping!

I know what you mean about how many time the episode is on. It’s hard keeping up with DVR. The show is on Sunday night at 8:00
TLC has an extended version of the previous Sunday’s episode on Friday evening
      called “More to Love”
Then to make it even more confusing, right after “More to Love” they have a “First Look” Showing of the next episode.
I just watch the Sunday night main episode and chase my DVR schedule to skip all the extra showings.

I have also been wondering if Armando and Kenny couldn’t also spend more time in the U.S. in the future. It seemed that he had spent quite a lot of time with them when he lived in Florida. I wish they clued us in on what all these people do for living. I don’t get how such a significant part of someone’s life isn’t shown at all.

And Ellie totally has a valid point. She should not have gone back to him after seeing that video of him with the other woman.

I feel that Jenny should send Sumit back to his parents and move back to the states to her family.
Ari is just a cry baby.
Victor just wants his girls money. He spends like she is made of money. When she brings it up he gets ugly.
I can’t understand why these people can’t find love in their own country.

My favorite part of this recap is the part about Sumit. Sometimes I think we don’t comment as much on this show because the comments are so obvious. At this point, it doesn’t feel particularly insightful to say that Sumit is stringing Jenny along and that Corey and Evelin are not in love.

I thought the conversation with Janice and Bini was interesting. He had a funny look on his face when Janice asked about cheating and I was just starting to think, oh no, he cheated, when Janice said she believed him and she’s very good at reading faces so she knows he’s not lying. I like Bini and I hope he continues to have access to his adorable little boy. Ari said at one point she really likes living in Ethiopia, so I hope that remains true.

I have no idea what I think of Ellie and Victor. She seems clueless and I don’t have a handle on him at all. I suspect there are some cultural differences coming to play there too.

Thanks for the recap Tamara! I just got the chance to watch the show earlier today. I think Sumit’s friend hit the nail on the head when he said he needed to go to a psychiatrist. It was so funny to see Sumit shaking his head no when the att’y was saying he could file the marriage paperwork that day. Earlier in the day, he had agreed to getting married in 10 days and now he is thinks 30 days out is too soon. The astrologer had seemed to be advising Sumit’s parents that if they removed themselves as the obstacle to Jenny, that the relationship might blow up as the couple would not have a unifying enemy. I do think S & J love each other but Sumit seems seriously freaked out. Instead of putting the application on hold (I mean it doesn’t require them to get married), he should have found a therapist to help him figure this out.

I’ve spent a lot of this week cleaning and trying to prepare for the holidays and just had the TV on in the background but wonder if I am the only one that has felt that about every 10 minutes all week long I have heard Debbie saying she has an incredibly strong sex drive in advertising some 90 Day spinoff?? I don’t need to know that. Do any of us? WTH. Stop airing that!

Victor was only supposed to be Ellie’s ” boyfriend experience.” She sends him money then he pretends to be her boyfriend when she visits. But then she goes home. You can see the seething rage in his face she overstayed her stay. He can’t see his real girlfriend with Ellie there.

Sumit’s 100 ways to say no to marriage. Real thing and he always has an excuse.

I’ve decided Sumit & Jenny storyline is all for show. Is it possible they love each other? Absolutely. Is it possible it’s all storyline for a paycheck? Absolutely.

I’m also convinced Armando has lived in the USA for a long time. He and Kenny went to Mexico for the storyline. Something hasn’t felt legit since the beginning although I couldn’t put my finger on it & last night I realized why. Armando’s English is flawless. Completely flawless. Like 100% no accent, his inflection (if that’s the proper word), just all of it. How did his English become so perfect, so smooth? We never see him struggle with the proper words, his sentence structure is perfect and his vocabulary is great…I know they haven’t been my favorite couple for a lot of reasons. Folks may get mad at me cause I know they are a “fan favorite” but I have felt a creepiness about them since the beginning.

If my suspicion is true, then I made unfair judgements about Kenny early on in the season because none of those things would matter anymore. Storyline.

Have you watched the show? We have seen Armando’s business, the family compound where he lived with his parents. All well before Kenny showed up. If Armando could live in the US with Kenny and his family he probably would. Perhaps after the marriage he can apply for a green card. Armando knew English when he met Kenny online. The insinuation that because Armando speaks English well means he had to have lived in the US is preposterous. Most of his family also speaks English.

Yeah, I’ve watched the show. His family lives on a compound in Mexico. We all saw that. Doesn’t mean they’re not going with a storyline. Hell, how do we know Armando didn’t show up in Mexico before filming started? You don’t believe everything you see on TV, do you? Anything can be manufactured. You know this. And my insinuation comes from having a Mexican husband & living in the ATL. His family lives on a compound in Mexico too. So do lots of folks. I don’t understand why it can’t be a storyline.

I mostly don’t comment anymore cause this place isn’t a place for differing views. No one respects differing opinions of any kind. And that’s all right. Doesn’t hurt me any.

        Bring on the hate. 😊

Seems to me that you can’t deal with differing opinions. I found Armando moving out of the family home and his parents reactions all very genuine. As are Armando’s father’s emotional crisis about Armando marrying a man.

Your questioning of all that we have watched seems ridiculous. I may own the site, but I get to have opinions too. And in my opinion, the relationship is genuine. Kenny sobbing when leaving his family is genuine. Armando’s tears over his father’s lack of coping skills with him coming out to his family were genuine. Kenny crying about missing his family was genuine.

So you whining about “differing opinions” not being allowed here is kind of hysterical. You do realize I could just not post your “differing opinion” should I have chosen to do so. Instead, I gave you MY “differing opinion” and you got all defensive.

I feel that Sumit is showing a lot of internal stress & conflict right now. His shaking his head no when the attorney said they could file the marriage paperwork on the same day is a tell. I truly think that is genuine and not acting.

Armando does speak English very well (most all of the non-U.S. people on this show speak English better than the U.S. counterparts speak their partner’s language) but unless I am remembering incorrectly, his daughter doesn’t speak English as well and if she had been living in the U.S. before the show, wouldn’t her English be as good as his?

Of course I know you don’t have to post my comments and I appreciate that you do.

I too found his family’s reactions genuine. That’s not what I find suspect. I have felt something “off” from the start but not sure why. Last night I had my back to the television and thought Kenny was talking, saying something Armando would say, so it didn’t make sense. I turned around and it was Armando talking. IMO, he would have to have gone to an English speaking school or spent a lot of time around English speaking individuals to sound as he does. Or could be he has aspirations as an actor & worked hard to erase any trace of his native language. Personally, I believe they were living here at one time, moved to Mexico and started the show. Maybe if Kenny knew some fundamental Spanish while living there, I’d feel differently.

That’s it. Thanks for posting my comments T.

    Re: Armando’s command of English

For some reason, I’ have a vague memory of Armando saying something when first introduced on the show about going to International School in the States. (or I’m remembering someone else with a similar vibe on another reality show, not sure) I swear I remember thinking, “Oh, that’s why he’s so well-spoken in English.”

Apologies if I’m remembering incorrectly, it’s from somewhere deep in the recesses of the mental fog.:)

Ok, had to confirm vague memory re: Armando’s English language abilities:

Armando says (in the 2nd episode he was on while going into his background):

“My family is very close, I have two older sisters, one younger, and we all learned to speak English by watching a lot of American tv and by going to bilingual school.”
