Project Runway Recap
Pictured: Katie Kortman — (Photo by: Barbara Nitke/Bravo)

It’s time to get started on this week’s Project Runway recap. I’m under the weather today with random shortness of breath and just feeling unwell. But, I am all ready to watch this episode. This probably won’t go up until whenever I wake up Friday because NBCu Media Village doesn’t always release the final look photos timely.

Tonight, the designers are paired with successful accessory designers and will come up with a look to pair with their accessory. Shantall cries when Christian talks about the competition helping out the small business owners (accessory designers) in the pandemic. She is a small business owner too and was affected by the pandemic as well. It affected all of us, even Tamara Tattles! The winning duo will split $25,000.

Off We Go To Mood!

Bones is working with a hat designer. Katie has a shoe designer. She’s also designing a dress that looks just like what she is wearing. Zayden has been paired with a “waste designer” which apparently means she recycles trash to make various accessories. Prajje is paired with a glove maker. Octavio is paired with a headwear designer. They have worked together before designing for Erika Badu. Anna has a hat maker. Shantall has a jewelry designer. Everyone is ready to go buy some fabric!

At Mood they have $400 to spend and also they will have another $200 at an as yet to be disclosed “specialty store.” Coral (who dis?) is doing an all black look for the fifth time and eventually listens to Christian telling her she’s never going to get out of the middle that way. The accessory store is kind of like mood but it is all accessories and trims, and buttons, and jewels. Aaron’s is doing resort wear with a swimsuit. That’s daring. Once again, Anna seems off to a good start. Shantall seems to still have some mental suffering going over Covid. I get it girl, same.

Christian Tries To Help With Limited Success

Prajje is doing a very tasteful 1940s dress in honor of his grandmother on the heels of being in the bottom last week. Kristina carries a paper bag wherever she goes and the other designers mock it. So she wants to put the paper bag on the runway!  OH. MY. GOD! Katie is using the fabric she brought from home to make YET ANOTHER FUCKING CLOWN COSTUME! PLEASE LET HER GO HOME THIS WEEK!  Bozo the Clown would say this is too much. Christian says to make it a mini dress. It’s just so hideous. Anna’s look is stunning again. She could easily with the whole things.

Bone’s dress is horrible. Christian calls it a big tattered muumuu. Octavio’s dress is great and apparently has twenty yards of fabric in the construction. Christian doesn’t seem to mind Kristina’s paper bag. He does however take offense at Aaron expecting his model to drop her overgarment, for lack of a better word, on the runway to reveal the swimsuit. There are some bad looks but nothing even close to how bad Katie’s look is. If she stays she has to be blowing someone influential. Back at the loft, Zayden’s partner calls to tell him there was an eviction notice on his door.

Chasity’s designer’s handbag is cute and goes well with her all black look. For the most part the designers love their accessories except for Coral. Her red headdress doesn’t match the red in her dress. Octavio’s look is top three for sure!  Zayden’s look sadly will probably be on the bottom.

Pictured: Designed by Octavio Aguilar — (Photo by: Barbara Nitke/Bravo)

It’s Runway Time

Octavio’s look opens the show with a splash. That black and white polkadot dress is everything. Bone’s look should put him in the bottom. It’s just a mess but he loves it. Coral’s red look turned out much better on the runway than in the sewing room. I’d mark her as safe but it could go either way really. I like Kristina’s lime green look. It might be top three but there is some stiff competition. Katie seems to know she is in trouble but blames the accessory designers shoes. Really? Shatall’s look is safe to me. I’m worried about my homeboy, Zayden this week. Aaron’s swimwear look is nice. He’s safe. Chasity did a great job adding orange stripes to her all black look to tie in with the orange strap on her handbag. She’s safe… maybe in the top three?

Click Here For More Project Runway Recaps!

Anna may have won the whole damn thing with the very formal black ball gown with jewelry from her designer covering her shoulders and going down her back. STUNNING WORK AGAIN. She is the one to beat this season. I would have loved to see the judges reaction to this dress. Or any of them really, we are not getting any camera time on them during the runway. Prajje’s look is definately top three as well.

My top three are Octavio, Anna and Prajje. My bottom three are Katie, Katie, and Katie. But Zayden will probably be there as well. As will Bones.

The Judges Decisions

ANNA IS JUST SAFE? ARE THESE JUDGES ON THE CRACK? Why are there seven people left for tops and bottoms?

Prajje is on the top! The love the dress, the hat, the gloves. Coral is also on the top. That’s actually well deserved. Kristina’s lime green dress is in the top. I’m not surprised, it is quite lovely. They even thought the “paper bag” was a cute addition. Octavio is also in the top. They loved Octavio and he got “one of the highest scores.

Zayden is on the bottom. Elaine says she doesn’t think he should be in the bottom, but it was just really close. Bones is shocked that he is in the bottom. I am not. The judges REALLY hate it. Bones sort of back talks Brandon. Katie is in the bottom again. I’m shocked! Said no one at all.

Click Here For More Project Runway Recaps!

While the judges talk, Katie is crying in the back room. The judges don’t seem to like Bones. And they do like Katie.

Kristina won with the paper bag! All four of the people in the top were worthy of the win. Zayden lives to sew another day. Bones stays and KATIE FINALLY GETS SENT HOME!

Next week is an Avant Garde challenge (BLECK) using fake fur. Also, it appears the designers were in some kind of terrible accident! AND BILLY PORTER IS GUEST JUDGE! I LOVE Billy Porter!

This was such a great episode and was my favorite collaboration ever. Finally beautiful dresses from most everyone! And the accessories were really cool too. So often this type of episode is gimmicky, but tonight’s was so normal and interesting. Octavio, Anna, and Coral were my favorite. I didn’t care for the one with the orange straps or Bones or Katie. Is it arrogant to think I could have helped Bones and Katie? Both needed extra flounces removed.

Hope you feel better soon, TT! Thanks for the recap. That accident next week looks scary!

No they do not. And I was thinking the same thing. I hate Avante Garde challenges and Faux fur. Hopefully, they can just use the faux fur as trim and maybe on a hat.

I loved this episode too! Loved all of the top 4 and Anna’s look. The jewelry really made her look. I was happy for Tamara that Katie finally got sent home. I loved Bones last week, but this week’s dress was dreadful. Zayden’s look was also bleh. It was an interesting challenge.

Bone’s dress looked awful even before he put it on the model and he sure didn’t take the judge’s constructive criticism. I was hoping he’d go home. And when they said the winner gets $25,000 I felt bad for the guy who couldn’t pay his rent.

This season is great. I feel like people who are not that into fashion (like me) or competition shows (TOTALLY ME) would love it if they gave it a chance. It’s fun to see all the work and the last minute changes and the judging. THIS SHOW HAS WON AT LEAST ON EMMY Y’ALL. ON BRAVO. You are missing out not watching.

Next week, when all the designers are in a bad accident? I’m worried if we will even get any fashions out.

I loved Santino on his season. That was a GREAT season. Unfortunately, I follow him on Twitter and he’s full blown batshit crazy now and not in the good way. He’s an antivaxxer with weird conspiracies about the vaccines. 🙁 I’m probably going to have to unfollow him. But, it’s Santino! I keep hoping for Santino humor but nooooo….

I know. He already seemed a bit mentally unstable on the show. That was before I became mentally unstable and I thought it was rather endearing. But he had progressed to like Majorie Taylor Greene or QAnon Shaman levels. It’s going to break my heart but I am going to need to unfollow him eventually because it is too sad to watch.

Also, if my mental health ever gets to that point, I’m going to need someone to just come shoot me.

I loved Santino so much. WHERE’S ANDRE’ and Red Lobster … I was pissed when they dinged him during the finale for the FIT of his clothes when his models got there too late (and I think some no-shows) for him to fit a single look.

Dang. This is super sad news. I loved Santino! I’m afraid there are a lot of people that I loved (still do) that have bought into this type of thinking. I have had to distance, if not cutoff completely some lifelong friends who have gone down those rabbit holes. It’s painful to watch. Hope springs eternal that they’ll get help and see the light. I find it strange that they used to seek free medical advice pre-covid, but now all of a sudden I don’t know what I’m talking about. It’s a futile argument or trying to educate. I still pray that even one of them will have an AHA moment but not holding my breath. Le sigh.

Red lobster cheddar bay biscuits do sound good though-I saw that you can buy them or the mix in the stores now. But I don’t remember which store I saw them in. Sorry for off topic here. I couldn’t not say something about the Santino stuff bc very sad.

This was my favorite challenge so far. I loved all the top looks and thought any of them could win, they were all so beautiful, I thought Katie was a bit obnoxious when she said she was sure she would have had a show on the final runway. I mean like she said, she’d never dressed a model, never had a runway show, didn’t go to design school. I think she went very far considering all that, but she was on the bottom just about every episode, so it was a bit smug of her to think she could really compete all the way to the end with the other highly trained designers. Just my opinion.

Wow! THAT was a great runway. FINALLY! Only 2 bad looks. – Katie the Clown & Bones.
But now to the real thing:
ANNA WAS SAFE???? SERIOUSLY????? Her look was amazingly gorgeous with the perfect combination of a fantastic dress which featured the accessory. Come on!
Of the top 4 I was certain that it was going to be Octavio’s outfit. When a judge says “this was a runway moment,” that’s a true winner. So color me surprised. But Kristina’s look was damn good and the subtle use of those shoes was smart. (Do you hear that, Katie? You can’t have a riot both above and below.). Loved Prajie’s and, as much as I loved that turban, it was one thing too many. But his dress was lovely & I really dug those gloves. The red dress was gorgeous and that macrame back exquisite
As for the bottom, I didn’t mind Zaden’s look. Yes, the fit could have been better & he overly styled it but the outfit was OK. As for Bones, that was just awful. It looked like he had put it together an hour before and completely swallowed the model. That wasn’t fashion – it was trash. Which leads me to….Katie the Clown. How she got on this show is beyond me. Yes, she’s a nice gal but seriously? With one exception, all her looks were hideous and looked like over grown craft projects. Tonight’s was the apex. The “dress” (if you can call it that) aside from the riot of color, looked like a child made it. And, insult to injury, bright yellow shoes with bright pink ribbons. That whole monstrosity burned through my pupils to my brain. She should have gone several challenges ago. She never learned a thing.
As for Bones, he needs to LISTEN once in a while. When Anna was in charge last week, what he made was beautiful (sans than hideous vest.)
Personally, I think this whole thing is ANNA’s to win with Kristina & Octavio right behind. I don’t think there’s a single thing Anna has made that hasn’t been unique & breathtaking. My money’s on her.

This! Personally, I think Anna should have won practically every episode, she is absolutely incredible. I was really surprised that Kristina won this challenge, but it could be that I’m just not her customer at all and I haven’t liked anything she has done. I’m also a little surprised that Prajje is in the top as often as he is. He chooses beautiful fabrics and then makes very simple pieces from them. They look lovely, but they’re just not very creative.
As much as I love Chastity’s personality and her winning look a few episodes ago was gorgeous, the last two weeks have been really awful for her. I can’t believe that black and orange thing she sent down the runway this week was not in the bottom.
I’ve been a diehard Project Runway fan from the start, and I’ll keep watching, but…the show doesn’t have the heart and soul that it used to. I miss Tim Gunn a LOT, but I don’t think that’s the only reason…

I LOVED Pradge’s (sp) look. He kept it simple so the gloves could be the focal point. I kept thinking that it would have been wonderful to combine this challenge with the last. Tara Lipinski would have looked amazing in Pradge’s dress with the gloves. Aaron’s look was unexpected and really complimented the really cool beach bag his accessory designer made.
Not at all sorry to see Katie go. She is entirely out of her league and I think the judges called it that she just kept sending the same crappy dress made in cheap looking cotton down the runway. Perhaps she should design for children because only the quirkiest woman would wear her clown wear.
Bone’s overconfidence will be the end of him.

I think project runway is goofing on us. If Katie had lasted another week I wouldn’t waste time watching any more of this season. The design that won looked like bag lady fashion. Octavio should have won, even though I don’t like polka dots. The lady gaga look was old fashioned, it felt like the 50’s.

I thought all the designers seemed to be in unusually good sync with each of their accessory designers–especially since they were told to just go to the wall and “grab a box.” I think they must’ve had names on them and specifically matched. Which is fine, at least we got some really good looks this week.

Praje won it for me because his look was impeccable plus, it did what it was supposed to do—showcased those incredible gloves. The dress complemented the accessory and vice verse. And I’m not a vintage-y person at all.

The red dress, that veil covered the entire hat—that was wrong. Why was she rewarded for covering up half the challenge!

Kristina’s outfit was really pretty and showed off the shoes well. Octavio’s look was fantastic as a whole, but it was a lot of flowing fabric, whereas Praje’s and Kristina’s were tailored beautifully. I can’t deny Kristina the win but I wish Praje got it.

Bones’ dress reminded me of the designer that had Michaels Kors’ saying, “She’s pooping fabric!”

It was SO OBVIOUS that the boxes were not random. I don’t know why they even needed to do that. Just pair them up and call it a day. We don’t need the fakery. They were all very well matched.

The red veil was added because the hat, her accessory was not the same red as her fabric. I thought it was a brilliant very last minute way for Coral to save herself. I do agree that she shouldn’t have been in the top with the other three though.

I loved this episode. If they chose those boxes at random, they all should have bought 1000 lottery tickets. Because that would have been major good luck/destiny. Every designer was paired with the best accessories designer for them. No clunker teams. Could you imagine Katie’s designer with anyone else?

Praje’s was my favorite. Aqua was the perfect color and the gloves … sublime. As I watched it again, I noticed the fabric-covered button on the belt. Those details are what elevate an already beautiful design. The back was as good as the front, and classy and sexy.

I disagree with the judges that Katie listens to others, not herself. She only HALF-ASSED listened to others. She NEEDS to learn how to edit. One skill you learn in classes. But I think there are legions of women who would buy her looks. Or children’s wear.

ONE MORE THING: Bones will NOT be getting the Siriano Save.

BOZO THE CLOWN !!! OMG I laughed out loud. The reference to my childhood made me happy. When I was a very little girl, my grandmother brought my sisters and me to a taping of Bozo the Clown in Boston. I have a terrible memory and most of my childhood memories have gone poof ! But Bozo is seared in my memory as one of the happiest.
Sadly, Katie thought grown women would wear that disaster? The high-low hem? And again she didn’t listen to Christian. I’m glad she’s gone – and not in a mean way – I think she was a distraction.

Anna has an extremely winning attitude, she is super focused and she reminds me of a soldier. She does not lose it (yet anyway) like a lot of people could do in a competition like this. And her dress was fantastic.

When I go shopping with one of my friends we walk through the women’s section and always stop to laugh at the “patio dresses.” That’s what Katie’s designs (and I use that word very loosely) remind me of.

My favorite was Anna’s dress and was shocked that it wasn’t in the top 3. I didn’t get to see the previews for next week, but I hope no one was seriously hurt in the accident.

Does anyone know how they determine the order in which the looks are walked on the runway? I’m sure what’s shown on tv is not the true order. Anyone have any theories on who or what looks go first? It seems that the first few looks are usually strong and then they fade to not so strong. Anyone notice a pattern?

Prajje’s dress was beautiful and the gloves were amazing.

No one mentioned Aaron’s swimsuit, coverup, and bag. Beautiful!!

I wrote notes and wrote clown and “do the judges think they’re dressing Bozo”. I don’t get it. Everything she designed was the same, with one exception, and she was always across from the judges wearing a matching Bozo costume.

Kristina’s lime green was so cool!! I didn’t see it as a top outfit until it was on the runway.

Bones is talented. I feel like as he escaped elimination he promised to listen. I believe that will make a difference if he really does listen.
