How is this possibly episode 26 of season nine? Has this been going on for that long? I thought this might be the finale, but apparently it is not. I’m going to try to hit the highlights of this two hour episode in tonight MAFS Houston Recap. In other news, I feel like I have a fever.
Brett & Ryan
There is literally no way this couple will stay together. Ryan knows he did a douchebag move getting back on a dating app while married. Ryan seems to want to be married. Just not to Brett. Ryan has already moved out of the apartment. Brett is packing up her stuff now. They are done. Ryan eventually apologizes for getting on the dating app and for moving out before the time was over. That was nice.
Michaela & Zack
Michaela talks to her sister who really wants Michaela and Zack to stay together. Zack needs to run for the hills and possibly change his name. Michaela and Zack apparently went out to eat and she spent the night with him after their meeting with Dr. Pepper. No Zack NOE! Later, Zack talks to Gil about Michaela. Zack needs to file for divorce TODAY not after decision day.
Bao & Johnny
This is yet another couple who should not stay together. Bao goes to talk to one of her friends about her situation. I hope this is not her crappy “best friend.” Oh good, it’s not that friend that trash talked her to Johnny. Johnny goes to chat with his friends. Johnny apparently has been critical of Bao since the honeymoon. He thinks he has made a lot of effort to be close to Bao. He seems to think he is husband of the year! He’s delusional. His friends seem to be trying to telling him to grow up and commit to the marriage.
With only a couple of days until decision day, Johnny and Bao go out to a private fancy dinner. Bao looks amazing. Johnny’s jaw hit the floor. Bao says she is focusing on the positives of their marriage. Johnny says that his friends have encouraged him to continue exploring the marriage. She says that her parents went through a lot. At this point, it sounds like they might both say yes! I would love that if they were able to work things out. They seem to enjoy their last night in the apartment. They sleep in separate bedrooms. I just want Bao to be happy.
Racheal & Jose
This couple will likely stay together. Whether or not that is a good idea, I’m not sure. Did Jose just tell his friend that something that could weigh into not staying together is that “It’s just hard being faithful?” WOW. So why did he get married at first sight then? Also Racheal spent the night HE LOCKED HER OUT as an ex’s house. But, I think they will ultimately stay together. Jose doesn’t have the kind of interest in international travel that Racheal does. This could be a big problem. She could just save her money and go without him.
This couple seems more up in the air than I expected. They were one of the only couples to exchange “I love yous.” So I still feel like they will stick it out. Saying yes doesn’t mean you are stuck together for eternity. You can always change your mind later.
Myrla & Gil
I still don’t know how to say Myrla’s name. I’ve never seen that name before. These two will be together. I would never have thought it in the beginning but they seem like a good match. Myrla’s only concerns are about his lack of finances. Clearly, she would be the bread winner. Gil takes Myrla roller skating. Gil is good at it and Myrla isn’t very confident. It’s cute. Gil basically calls Myrla a spoiled brat. I’m not sure that is fair. She has worked hard for the material things she enjoys.
Gil calls his mother on the phone to get advice. They mostly talk about Myrla’s expensive tastes. He admits to his mother that if she wants to do that with her money, that is fine, but that is not something that he enjoys. Me neither. Where the hell would I wear a pair of Louboutins? Someone sent me an handme down Louis Vuitton handbag. I can’t be out in the ghetto with that! LOL. I already have on too much nice jewelry. LOL. But when my anxiety allows me to go to Whole Foods, which is outside of my very small “zone of safety” I definitely take it. 🙂 I am a fancy trip kind of girl. And on those fancy solo trips I dress to blend in with the locals, not stand out.
Also, Gil is concerned because Myrla makes twice as much money as he does, but feels like he should pay all the bills. He would have nothing left over if he did that. He also doesn’t like that she whines and complains all the time. His mom asks about communication. That is great.
All The Couples Get Together
Everyone gets together to talk and shoot some pool one more time before decision day. This is the first time Ryan and Brett has seen each other before moving out. Everyone about reasons they might say no. This seems counterproductive. Bao basically says she is going to say yes. She wants to continue to work on the marriage. Johnny doesn’t seem to get that saying no on decision day means he is asking for a divorce. Some of the others are confused about this too. The question is, “Do you want to stay married, or do you want to get a divorce?” On that day. You can choose to stay married and work on things for a day or a month or forever. But if you say no, that is it.
Zack is so cute. He says he has cried more during this eight weeks than the rest of his life put together. Gil says he has been vulnerable for the first time in his life. Johnny and Jose talked about putting themselves in situations that could hurt their feelings.
I can’t wait for next week!
