Who is ready for a Below Deck recap? Sadly, we still have half a charter to get through before we can get Captain Lee back on the ship! And we have to find out if the beach picnic will actually happen before nightfall. When last we saw them, the guests were not happy at all about the hours long delay for their beach time. In no world does a Captain even go to the picnic site let alone be in charge of setting up lunch.
Now, Captain Sean is asking for his bag of shells from his closet. Good Grief! That said he did a great beach set up. Meanwhile, Rayna and Jake are totally going to hook up. Rachel is still pissed at Eddie for ratting her horrific behavior out to Captain Lee last season. Someone needs to teach Rayna some table manners! Did she seriously just ask Wes if he would stop being someone’s friend if “her pussy stinks?” WTF???
Boat Daddy Is Back!
Captain Lee is coming back mid-charter! Thank the baby Jesus! He should be there in time for dinner. We see Captain Lee on the boat out to the yacht! He’s back! Racheal is doing a Japanese themed meal with Tomahawk steaks? Are those Flintstones steaks in anyway Japanese? Captain Lee has a new set of blacks and I’m not sure I am feeling it, but Rachel is! She’s already invited him to her seven course dinner.
Captain Lee let’s Eddie know, presumably just him because he is First Officer, that he was in the hospital with Atrial Fibrillation. It’s an irregular heartbeat situation that runs in my family. My mother had to get a pacemaker because of it. The performed some heart ablations on him. It’s quite a scary procedure but he is recovering well.
Captain Lee arrives for dinner in his tux. Now this look I am down with. He looks like a million bucks. Rachel is giving a whole story for each of her courses it seems. The guests are loving it. Jessica is exhausted from washing a million towels a day. Captain Lee says that Rachel is the best chef he has ever worked with. I saw no Tomahawk steaks so maybe that is for another day? The primaries are still not getting top shelf housekeeping services. Rachel may have washed a billion towels, but apparently that was not enough.
The First Charter Is In The Books
The next morning at breakfast, Rachel is super smart. She offers two specials, a Shakshuka dish (I had to Google so there is your link. And a pancake popover. None of that omelets made to order crap. Two choices. The kitchen is running smoothly for a change. The Captain and the crew have concerns about a difficult docking at a new dock, with a green crew and bad weather. Fortunately, it goes off without a hitch. Now they just have to get the guests with the towel fetishes off the boat. But first they complain about the lapses in housekeeping.
UT OH! Before there is even a tip meeting, Captain Lee calls Heather to the bridge. Rachel walks in with Captain Lee’s lunch made to order. I’ve never seen a chef deliver a meal to the Captain on a boat before. You can tell Rachel is just as fond of Captain Lee as the rest of us are. Eddie heaps praise on the deck crew for their hard work. They may be green but they didn’t show it on this cruise. The guests left them $18,000 in tips. I will never get used to hearing such a figure. That’s $1,500 each. Apparently, that is not very impressive to Captain Lee or the crew.
Way Too Many Shots Are Consumed
Despite being exhausted, the crew prepares to go out and party. I forget where they are this season but it appears they are still in locked down. The restaurant appears to be empty except for the crew. And the waiters are all wearing masks. Eddie actually has a girlfriend. He’s 36 and might be ready to settle down. Fraser talks privately with Heather regarding housekeeping. He politely points out that she put him in charge of housekeeping but was constantly interrupted to help with service. She doesn’t seem to understand that was a problem for the interior. Fraser gets no resolution from the meeting. Basically, she said, “Don’t let it happen again.”
Meanwhile, the crew has moved on to the bar where copious amounts of drinking occurs. Rayna and Jake are totally hooking up. It wouldn’t surprise me if they did it right there on the bar. They all pour into the vans. Heather says the hookup will happen on the crew mess table. Miraculously, they all to to bed along and wake up with regret. Rayna has a guy off the boat that she is in some sort of relationship with.
Next week the crew drama escalates when Rachel airs her grievances with Eddie. And the rudest guests ever arrive and I don’t feel like Captain Lee is going to tolerate their behavior for the whole charter. He may make them walk the plank.
