It’s Saturday! My favorite day of the week where I can watch whatever I want and don’t have to recap a thing! But come hell or high water, I am not going to stop the 90 Day Fiance the Other Way recaps. This is the best reality show on TV, periodt! I have no idea why you guys won’t watch it. Is Bravo the only TV channel you have? I’m currently blissfully watching Floribama Shore while enjoying one of Banjo’s good days.
Jenny & Sumit
Jenny and her local friend Deepali (the sister of one of Sumit’s friends) go to have a chat at a local cafe where they have some lassi. (Lassi is a blend of yogurt, water, spices and sometimes fruit.) When Jenny tells her about Sumit’s mom wanting to move in. Deepali says her in-laws also spent several months in her house helping her get everything set up. Deepali is a very good friend to Jenny. Jenny says she is not going to be told to do in her own house. But, Deepali says this is the ray of hope she has been waiting on and that Jenny needs to be open to softening her views on Sumit’s mother and embrace the Indian traditions. Jenny actually listens and ready to at least give it a chance.
Finally, an hour in we get back to India. The country looks fascinating. But, I could not deal with all the monkeys (a reason I may choose not to live in Costa Rica) and all the traffic with no real rules of the road. I love seeing the country from the safety of my couch though! Jenny and Sumit have decided to let his parents come just for a couple of days. Let’s see how that plan goes. They are putting in beds for them and everything in the guest room. But Sumit suggest they stay in their bedroom. Then, Sumit says they have to get up at five or six am. Jenny is like, Oh hell NO! This is not what I retired for! lol.
So, it’s the day that Sumit’s parent’s arrive and her kitchen looks almost as bad as mine does. ALMOST. Sumit’s mother is going to be mortified. Jenny wants Sumit to have her back. Sumit doesn’t seem down with that at all. His mom immediately points out the rings on the coffee table. She might croak when she sees the kitchen. She says that Jenny should clean every day. Then Sumit’s mom makes her sweep. Jenny is pissed, but the kitchen was BAAAAD. Not as bad as mine currently is, but bad.
Ellie & Victor
Back to Colombia where these two have found a small apartment to live in on the mainland and get out of the expensive hotel. Ellie has decided to confront Victor about his cheating. She thinks he lived with something else. The girl told her that they were planning to have children. He blames it on Covid and quarantining with her and it wasn’t anything serious. Ellie, you are way too old to be buying this crap. You’ve blown up your whole life for a guy who can’t keep his dick in his pants! I need to go if the other woman is a white American.
Later, off we go to Colombian Home Depot. Honestly? This is the stuff I live for while traveling. I love convenience stores (although my favorite one was torn down in Paris) and grocery stores and drug stores and such. It is so much harder to even check out than you would think. Most overseas places don’t provide bags and if they do you have to purchase them and generally bag things yourself. It’s really odd. I had a European person visit me once and we went to TJ Maxx. He loved it. But he was totally confused by the checkout counter. Things are way different.
Anyway, Ellie is shocked that they sell machetes. She complains about the (very reasonable) prices and whines about having to pay for everything. Seriously? You bought a Colombian man with no job. Where is he supposed to get money? His whole island is demolished. This is what you signed up for. She spent a whopping $230 on a drill and some kind of charger. REBUILDING A HOUSE COSTS WAY MORE THAN THAT SWEETIE. Wait till you need a plumber!
Arilea & Biniyam
Ari and Avi have arrived back in the US for Avi’s hernia surgery. While I understand Ari wanting to have the surgery in the US and not in Ethiopia for many reasons. The way she went about it was totally dismissive of the father of the baby. The baby is already a good traveler and seems so happy. Later Ari introduces Avi to her siblings. Her mom already wants her (and Bini) and the baby moving back to NJ. Avi says that she wants to stay in Ethiopia. The family is applying a lot of pressure. The sister is pushing better education and employment opportunities.
Kenny & Armando
These two are so cute together especially with Hannah. They play nail salon with her and they are the manicurists for her. It’s sweet. I just realized that their apartment is right on the ocean. Wow. Armando talks to Kenny about adopting another child. Kenny really isn’t that into it. They had talked about adopting a kid close to Hannah’s age. Now, Armando wants a baby through invitro. He thinks Kenny should be the donor. No way! Not old sperm! Kenny is down with raising an infant. I think they should adopt an older child. Kenny is not getting any younger. Kenny agrees with me. He’s 58. That’s not a great time to have a child for the child.
Later, these two go to an adoption agency. Most refused a same sex couple. But, Armando has found a private company who deals exclusively with HIV kids that will see them. I love this idea. Kenny lost 80% of his friends to HIV in the eighties. To learn more about a side of the 80s that was terrifying and often ignored when people talk about how great the 80s were you really should watch Pose from season one to the depressing final season. It was terrifying for ALL sexually active people. There is going to be a lot of red tape. It can take up to four years. Okay. I want to go adopt them all. #Allergies
Armando is stuck on having Kenny’s bloodline in the family. How can you go to that orphanage and not take all the kids home with you? I think it is an age thing. He didn’t live through the crisis. Hell, I doubt he was even born. Armando’s issue is that it will take a lot longer to adopt.
Alina & Steven
Oh Lord, here we go with these two. Thankfully, Alina’s mother is still there to talk some sinc into her daughter. The three go out to lunch at a place with a beautiful view of Turkey I believe their city is on the southern border so their view is of the Mediterranean Sea. Fun fact, I was baptised in the Med. Anyway his mother orders coffee but he will not let Alina order one because Mormons don’t drink coffee. Alina, his mother, and myself, find the whole coffee ban thing ridiculous. Then Steven, the devout religious guys says he hopes someday that Alina’s mom can be baptized.
Alina has had enough of Steven’s “selective virtues.” So she drops the bomb on her mother and says that while she cannot have coffee, Steven cannot keep his dick in his pants. They both call Steven a hypocrite and that is one of the worst qualities someone can have. Now, I hope she orders a coffee. Alina goes way too easy on him. I need her mother to lit his ass up. She asks Alina if she trusts Steven. She says not at the moment. Alina wants Steven to excuse himself so she can speak to her mother alone. Her mother obviously tells her to dump him.
Wow, I just remembered that Alina is only TWENTY YEARS OLD! What is the rush to get married? Is this all for TV? Steven in 25. Same Question. Somehow, a guy with rabbits gives Alina a fortune. Don’t worry, I didn’t get it either. But, basically it was her relationship will be just fine. Apparently, the rabbits do crack or something because that will never happen.
Evelin & Corey
Corey is determined to get Evelin back, but apparently she has divorce papers ready to go. She want him out of her house. It’s also right on the water. How did that happen? I don’t know why he is fighting for her so hard. I imagine she has been cheating on him the whole time. He keeps slipping notes under her door begging for forgiveness. She seems done. OTOH she needs the paycheck to keep this setup. Corey tries flowers. It doesn’t work. She asks him to sign the divorce papers. He says no. She threatens him with the landlords and police.
Next Time: Evelin an Corey do couples therapy. Ari has the nerve to be mad that he is going out with his friends while she is gone. Sumit’s mom, tries to teach Jenny how to make bread. Jenny has no idea what she is saying so she thinks things are going fine. It looks like Steven gets busted for flirting with Alina’s best friend. Kenny wants to go home to see his family because one of his daughter’s is pregnant. Why can’t he take Armando and his daughter?
