This is the fifth episode of the season and if feels like these episodes just keep flying by. It’s a very fast season. But, I am loving it and I hope I can put out some sort of decent Survivor 41 recap tonight to distract myself from things that are happening here in the shack. It’s kind of amazing that Luvu has never been to a tribal council and still has all of their members. Five people have already gone home on four episodes!
UA Tribe (Green) Genie, Shantel (Shan), and Ricard.
This poor little tribe is still putt-putting along even though they are down to three people. At this point they should just merge UA and Yase and let Luvu kill them all off. I really like Genie and she is playing harder than it may seem. Now, she wants to go find Brad’s threeway idol. But, I think she is too trusting of Shan and Ricard. It was basically right out where people can find them. Shan suggests that they do not open it. She is a shrewd player. So they leave it in the woods. But really, Shan wants the idol and she a Ricard want her out. WOW. Shan went back and got the idol with Ricard. If the go to tribal again and Shan can’t vote, how does that work with only three people on the team? I don’t want Genie to go home but the people editing makes you like always do this season. 🙁
Wow, Ricard comes up with a plan to tell Genie that he wants Shan to say the broccoli phrase for the idol in order to find out if Luvu has found one yet. Also, it looks like Shan is going to give Ricard her extra vote in case they go to tribal counsel. And they probably will.
Luvu Tribe (Blue) Deshawn, Sydney, Danny, Naseer, Heather, and Erika
Despite this team never having to go to Tribal, and winning many challenges, this is the team that has not found the third idol? Maybe they feel like they don’t need to look for one? Over on Luvu, it looks like Sydney is doing all the spearfishing and feeding her tribe. You go girl! Danny and Deshawn still want to try to throw another challenge. Everyone is so good on this tribe it is hard for them to lose. Naseer (my favorite at the moment is against throwing a challenge. The other guys want Erika out, why? The tribe doesn’t like Naseer for whatever reason, but if the guys want to throw a challenge they need him. He can make fire without flint! Deshawn and Danny realize that four of the five eliminated survivors are male.
Yase (Yellow Tribe) Tiffany, Liana, Evvie, Xander
Over on Yase, it is all about the women. Xander is the target. However, Evvie wisely covers her bases with Xander and makes him feel like they have a final two to the end. Because, Xander actually has the best chance of making it to the end. However, Tiffany (world’s worst player) is stirring things up with Liana regarding her friendship with Xander. Please let this be the week that Tiffany goes home. Liana and Tiffany go through Xander’s bag and find his three part idol. What kind of moron doesn’t keep the idol in his crotch rather than in his bag? Some of these players this season, I tell you what… Le sigh.
Xander goes back to camp and tells Tiffany that he has the idol. He makes it seem like he just found it but Tiffany has already seen it and knows he said his (very true btw) about the butterflies. In retrospect it would have been wiser not to say your phrase until someone else said theirs.
The Immunity Challenge
Am I the only one who is annoyed that Jeff can’t say “you guys” anymore? We’ve been saying that for years. It’s literally gender neutral! Hey you guys, come look at this! Is something that people say to groups of any gender. Things are starting to get ridiculous. I had a future trans kid in my second grade class one year. He was born male but very effeminate and preferred to hand out with the girls. It’s common in elementary schools to foster a bit of competition between the boys and girls to see who can get ready for lunch the fastest. No matter which gender won or lost, this child would line up with the girls. Absolutely no one cared. He was one of the best liked people in the class. Everyone looked out for him/her/they. Hey you guys doesn’t offend anyone.
HOLY SHIT! Nasser from Luvu has found the third idol. Finally, and it could not happen to a nicer guy. He said the third phrase! I really want him to win. The two winning teams get tarps. The losers lose their flint. It’s actually not a water challenge this week. It’s a physical rope challenge. Yaseer is blowing this challenge away for Luvu. But Yase wins. UA goes back to tribal and their tribe will go down to two people. That has to mean the merge is next week, right? Yase picks two people from the other two tribes to go on a mission. They pick Shan to go from UA and Liana wants to go from Yase. Shan is really getting the winner’s edit this season.
Shan Chooses NOT To Risk Her Vote
Liana really wanted to get to know Shan. That’s a smart move. This could be our final two. And they make a final two. Shan shares about her mother and her death on the three hour walk up the hill. She tells Liana she can’t afford to risk her vote with only three people left on her tribe. Liana risks hers for an unknown advantage. She is allowed to ask one player one of two questions. Do you have an advantage? Or do you have an idol. They are not allowed to lie and if they do have what she asks them about she gets the idol/advantage. It seems like it will happen at tribal. So she will steal Xander’s idol.
So Ricard tries to set up Genie, by telling her they need to vote out Shan. But really the plan is to vote out Genie. Shan returns and lets both of them know she has protected her vote. Shan does one on one with everyone. Genie tells her that Ricard is trying to get her out. Shan wants Ricard to give her the extra vote back. But he is hesitant to do that. Or beyond hesitant. He doesn’t want to give her back the vote. That would leave him vulnerable. These two do NOT trust each other. It will probably come down to Genie breaking the tie. And Shan could be gone with an idol if she doesn’t play it. Shan has to decide whether to keep the strategist (Ricard) or the loyalist ( Genie) further into the game.
At tribal council Genie sells her case. Shan admits she talked to both of them, pitching why she thinks they both need to keep her. Basically, they have all told the other two to vote the person out that is not in the conversation. This could be interesting. If Ricard and Genie are smart, they will both vote out Shan. If Shan is smart she will play her idol. But, Ricard smart he will vote twice using Shan’s advantage. But no advantage or idol was played. Genie is voted out.
