Wow this has been a super busy week. I’m not going to be able to get through all my recordings this weekend! I have 42 hours of shows in the hopper! Four of those hours will be discussed in this 90 Day Fiance The Other Way Recap.
Evelin & Corey
We start in Ecuador where Evelin has just dropped a bombshell on her sisters. While at a store to buy her wedding dress, she admits that she and Corey eloped a year ago. So, what’s the point of have a really expensive wedding now? The news is met with stunned silence, followed by anger. They had a quickie wedding so that he could stay in the country. Later these two go to an open plaza with a meat market. The three girls get crab soup. The sisters order penis soup for Corey. Then they confront him about his relationship with Jenny in Peru. Corey is pissed to find out that Evelin’s sisters know he was married when cheated. Oh no! Corey has another secret to tell Evelin but he is afraid to come clean.

Evelin finally tells her parents and other family members that she is technically already married. Her mother is hurt and confused. She asks her if she was forced into it. She say no she did it so that Corey could stay in the country. Her mother asks her is she is happy and she says she doesn’t know. He parents do not believe in divorce so her mother plans to ensure that she stays married. Evelin kind of feels like she should not have told her parents. Now she feels trapped in her marriage. She says this on camera while sitting next to Corey.
Later, Corey and Raul, his best friend in Ecuador go surfing. And he makes a confession. Things with Jenny from Peru were pretty serious. She introduced him to her family and they made plans to move in together. Wait! That is the shocking news? I was expecting for him to say she had his baby. Raul wants Corey to officially break things off with Jenny. Um, I’d say after cutting off communication with her, she probably gets it. However, I still see a baby showing up. Then Raul says to tell Evelin. I say just keep you mouth shut. Raul says that if he doesn’t tell Evelin then he will.
Alina & Steven
These two idiots are finally traveling to Turkey. They aren’t even staying in Istanbul! How did they pick this location? On the way to the airport Alina tells her mama that Steven doesn’t want them to share and apartment. She’s more worried than ever. Oh! I just Googled Antalya and it’s a beautiful resort town on the Mediterranean Sea! I want to go now. Despite a very happy reuniting at the Antalya airport, the taxi ride to the apartment is already contentious. Alina wins the war on him staying in the apartment. Steven reads Mormon scriptures in Russian to Alina and goes to sleep on the couch. Alina was expecting more affection and fewer scriptures. Alina finally gets Steven to stay in the apartment.

Alina and Steven go to see an immigration lawyer about getting married in Turkey. But Steven wants hitchhike there. Of course he does. As it turns out they both need paperwork from their home countries proving that they are both single. Steven will have to fly to the capitol city of Ankara. Alina can get hers in Antalya where they are. Then they have to apply for a wedding license. Then they can get married and apply for his visa for Russia. This will never happen in 90 days, I promise you. Too many government agencies are involved. Steven isn’t even sure he wants to get married. On the car ride home Alina gets upset when Steven says he is not as ready to get married as she is.
Ellie & Victor
In Columbia, Ellie is still searching for Victor after his small island was hit by a category five hurricane. She is getting on a boat the next day to go Providencia and hunt him down. First she shops for some clothes for the Islanders. She finally hears from Victor and he is in her town at the airport. Victor talks about surviving the hurricane and how he thought he was going to die. After getting a bunch of supplies for Victor’s family, they take a four hour boat ride to Providencia. Then, they will have four hours on the island and a four hour boat ride back. Providencia is a literal disaster zone.

After taking supplies to Victor’s sister’s family, whose entire house is completely gone, they go to see the house that Ellie basically paid for, for Victor. Shockingly, it is still standing. There is a lot of damage, and the roof blew off, but it is still there. And surprisingly most of it is intact, relatively speaking. His mother’s house and his uncles house on the same property are completely destroyed. The beach is full of rocks and debris. They head back to San Andres.
Arilea & Biniyam
I am so over Ari and her sheer stupidity of flying her ex-husband over to stay with them. It’s beyond rude to Bini. Now she is going on a coffee date with Lander and clearly Bini is not invited. Lander tries to convince Ari to go back to the US. Later, the throuple goes to Bini’s sister’s house to celebrate a religious holiday. The sister’s don’t hold back when questioning Leandro about his intentions. I actually hate Ari more that Evelin. At least Evelin’s husband is a douchebag who deserves the about. Bini is a sweetheart. After Ari hugs Leandro so inappropriately long, he is off back to America.

Bini and Ari continue to “work on their relationship” as if Ari knows what that means. So they go to a place that is suppose to have holy water. Mimi the nanny is there to care for the baby. Bini says he has seen many miracles from the holy water. His brother was sick and crippled and the holy water cured him. If anyone needs to be dunked in holy water, it is Ari. The men and women go into different tents. So the nanny, the baby and Ari go to the women’s tent.
This is why I love this show. This is all very interesting to me. Bini gets naked and is showered by the holy water. The water is very cold and Ari is not feeling the experience. Her demons are fighting the holy water. LOL. Sorry. That was mean. Thankfully, there is a mostly naked woman turning her around and holding her under the spigot.
Armando & Kenny
Kenny’s daughter Cassidy is in Mexico for a visit. Oh my, they are all going on a road trip to visit Armando’s family. I already know this will not go well. When they finally arrive, they discover Armando’s dad is “at the store.” But, he actually was there and he comes out and hugs Armando for a long time. Then he hugs Kenny and Cassidy as well! Progress! Dinner goes great everyone is happy even Armando’s dad. But, Armando chickens out on telling the family about his plans for a big wedding.

The next day, Armando goes to a very beautiful garden show to buy her some accessories for her garden. OMG! Armando’s dad still doesn’t know that he is engaged to Kenny! So the wedding news is going to be a huge deal. Armando’s mom said not to tell his dad he was engaged on his last visit. She wanted to do it herself. But she chickened out as well. Armando told her he was there to tell his family about the wedding. She cries because she remembers when he was married to the mother of his child. And, she thinks about that a lot. She says when she cries she worries he thinks it is because she doesn’t accept him. But she does. Armando believes her, but he also doesn’t think his mom is happy for him.
It’s time for Armando to bite the bullet and tell his father. On the ride over, Armando tells Kenny that if his dad is unable to accept him he won’t be comfortable returning home. Armando is super nervous. He sits down with his father to talk. Before Armando can even say anything, his dad says he loves him and he is proud of him. His father cries. Armando finally tells him about the wedding and you can literally see him processing this news. He says he needs more time to process things before he can agree to come. It’s a lot to take in. So, I think things went well.
Jenny & Sumit
Jenny finally gets Sumit to go request a new passport. If everything goes well, he should have one in a month. For some reason they do home checks to verify where he lives. Other than that it is all done online. Jenny puts more pressure on Sumit to “shit or get off the pot” as we say in the south, regarding marriage. Despite not being able to get a missionary visa as a Hare Krishna, Jenny loved the chanting so much she bought her own changing beads. Sumit tells Jenny that his sister-in-law is pregnant. And he needs to go be with the family. Once again Jenny is hurt and feels left out of everything. Sumit says he will stand up for her, but we all know he will not.

So, off Sumit goes to the temple bearing gifts for his brother’s baby. Just like Armando’s dad, Sumit’s family does not know that he and Jenny are engaged. The family talks about how far away Sumit lives now and how much his mother cries. When he sits with the family his brother notices he has lost weight. Sumit says because he is happy now. He says without Jenny’s support he could not have made it this far. He says that he wants to include Jenny in these celebrations. In an interview his brother and wife say she is welcome at the celebration but as a friend, not as family.
His mother says she gets phone calls all the time saying that Sumit is “doing wrong.” His father says the family will be cut off by society if they accept Sumit being with Jenny. Then he tells them that he and Jenny are engaged. His mother gets up and walks away to cry. Everyone chases after her leaving Sumit by himself.
I made a horrible mistake of looking up my first love from college. I have not thought about this dude for years. He looks way better now than when we lived together. Oh, and he is the county attorney for his region which is a pretty big deal. My mind is blown and I feel like poop. I did not want that at 21, but I do want that at 40. It makes sense why his new wife is only 27 and pregnant. My life is so fucking werid.
Time to stop looking back and start looking forward, my friend. Have you ever gone on a trip alone? I highly recommend it. xoxoxox ~tt
Very good advice.
I looked Leandro up and he’s a physicist. This guy must be mega-smart. He dodged a bullet when Ari just wandered away.
Steven is an idiot. Why would you move to the other side of the world if you weren’t pretty sure you wanted to marry the person? And why would you do that and worse yet allow someone else to uproot her life knowing you were keeping a secret that could ruin the entire relationship? I don’t get that; we’ve seen it many times before when someone has to tell their partner something that could be a deal breaker and they don’t do it before the big move. That really bugs me. That’s a huge red flag. If they can’t be honest about things: NEXT! Don’t try to manipulate people by withholding important information until it’s too late and they’ve already completely uprooted their lives.
For those of you who were so kind and supportive earlier this year when life was just one devastating blow after another, (we lost our beloved English setter to heart cancer and then Jon had open heart surgery) here’s an update:
Jon’s recovery has been painful but steady. He’s been in cardiac rehab and got back to doing (and overdoing) what he planned to this summer. We planted 18 trees in the orchard, seeded the meadow, trapped and relocated FIVE porcupines who were enjoying the new trees, we’ve had some of my family and his up for visits (I renovated our 10 year old camper and it is adorable, people love staying in it), and the best news of 2021 is our younger Setter had a litter of six puppies 5 weeks ago. They are beyond adorable. Jon is so happy. I wish I could post pictures because they just make you smile. So life goes on. This is why I haven’t been commenting; not enough hours in the day to get everything done that’s got to get done. But as the weather gets cold and outdoor chores are over for the year I should have more time to participate.
Love to all!
Lucinda I love this good news. You paint a beautiful story and life. I can picture it all. ♥️❣♥️
Thanks, Jananell. I appreciate the kind words.
Happy to hear life is better. Sending positive vibes.
Thank you iv. You’re very kind.
Honestly this season is not all that interesting with the exception of Armando & Kenny. They are the only couple who are likeable and seem genuine.
As for the others:
Jenny & Sumit – Both just dragging-out their storyline for TLC cheques. After-all, what will Jenny do for work in India?
Ellie & Victor – Ellie is dick-ma-tized
Arilea & Biniyam – Ari is a spoiled, emotionally immature girl who is too fragile for life in Ethiopia.
Alina & Steven – Steven is a cult-leader in the making
Evelin & Corey – Evelin acts like she’s Miss Ecuador.
Totally agree.
Lol on Miss Ecuador.
I love your summation. I don’t watch anymore, I gave them 90 days plus another 90. If they can’t get their shit together in 2 seasons, I’m over them. Armando is a nice person, but Kenny deserves a partner that respects him enough and cares for him enough to put him first. Armando is a weak ninny, what is it 3rd season of pussy footing around the truth with his daddy? Sumit may or may not be worse. Armando just has a nicer family, less worried about social status, it’s only a macho thing. I think the TLC checks should stop if they don’t marry by 2nd season.
CLEARLY you don’t watch or you would never speak that way about Armando. Armando is extremely brave to come out to his parents. He knew they might reject him and and father basically did. His mother is barely tolerating it because she loves her son. The amount of strength that man has is amazing. It is so lovely to see his father open the door to acceptance of his son just a crack. His mother is also struggling with acceptance. I hope they both get to that point at some point.
Kenny is sort of replacing Armando’s overbearing father. He wants to tell Armando how to raise his kid (Armando refuses to let him) and run their entire relationship. Armando is a lovely person and your comments are way off base.
I guess you must not know anything about Mexican culture, a strongly Catholic highly religious culture where especially in more rural areas homosexuality is taboo. Armando was married, had a child, and was living a totally inauthentic life just to please his family. If his wife hadn’t died he’d probably still be living that way. Armando and Kenny are at least genuinely themselves, unlike others on these franchises.
You had me on the floor about Steven, which isn’t hard to believe. Evelin gets on my last nerves. She wants a machismo man and is forcing Corey to be something he isn’t. If he didn’t have some kind of money, she would of walked away by now.
I’ve never watched this show, but I watch Nightly Pop. Which is the only reason why I know to ask: Who wants to marry a guy who calls having sex “skoodilypoop”?
No kidding! He doesn’t seem mature enough to walk down the street, never mind fly across the world and get married. There’s something creepy about him too. I feel so bad for Alina. I think she’s pretty quickly seeing what we are all seeing. I just hope she sees it in time to leave before they marry.
How does a guy quit his job, and move to TURKEY of all places to be with a woman and then when the time comes to start taking legal steps to marry announce that he is not there yet?
But let’s not let Alina off the hook. She wants to go marry a weirdo who is making her convert to a new religion, who asked her if he could date other people, who announces that he won’t actually live with her when she gets there, who she has to have her best friend to flirt with him on social media to see if he flirts…. GIRL! HOW MANY RED FLAGS DO YOU NEED!
Why does evilyn think she’s so hot? She must be the best looking girl in that creepy town, hence her attitude. If Corey hasn’t figured out by now that she is using him, then he deserves what he tolerates. Armando has a very gentle heart. Both of them do. They are too good for this show. The others, especially Ari, make me ill. And I used to like Jenny, but it’s enough already with these two. NOBODY is this stupid.
Bini is a serial cheater. When he calls his ex “sweetheart” in front of Ari small telltale sign. Also that same ex alerted Ari that he is a cheater.
The only “storyline” I am enjoying is Armando and Kenny! The scene with his mother and father was very touching.
Jenny and Sumit is just a tired storyline that failed to progress. He will never marry her story over.
It’s time for some fresh couples and not ones we just saw or see over and over again.
I couldn’t have said the words better. They all make me mad except Kenny and Armando. I love them two there are so good together. Bini should kick her spoiled ass to the curb if it wasn’t for the child he would I think. And Steven please wtf is up with that hair get a hair cut looks like he’s 12 and acts like it also. He is so stupid what does she see in him she can do much better run girl run!!!
