I am so excited to finally do this 90 Day Fiance The Other Way Recap! It’s monsooning again in Atlanta and all this rain just makes me so damn sleepy. I got plenty of sleep last night but I feel like I could take a 12 hour nap right about now. #narcolepsy. Anyway, we are getting new couples this season and I am not particularly thrilled about that. I just need a dose of Kenny and Armando today. This is a fantastic show. I was resistant to watch when y’all first started asking me to and now I am completely addicted.
Ellie & Victor
Wow, Ellie is 45 and is from Seattle and is in love with a Caribbean guy, Victor. His island, Providencia (part of Colombia) was just hit by a category five hurricane causing mass destruction. She has not heard from him since. Wow this season is starting off with a bang. She’s worried he is dead. Then we go back a week. Allie is the owner of a pizza place along with another guy, she selling it all of to move to the islands with her man. Dumb move. Really dumb. She had a very happy marriage. He suddenly died in their bed one night. 🙁 How awful! He accidently overdosed on prescribed medication.

Ellie’s good friend, Hiromi drops by for a visit. She wants to leave her art with her. That is my problem with moving overseas. I don’t want to leave my art behind. Hiromi is not really supportive of her move. Victor has been cheating on her with some other girl. The girl texted her and told her not to come they were happy and don’t need any ex-girlfriends. Victor denied the whole thing. But, the girl continued to show her the receipts. And now she is selling her company to move down there? Hiromi is tryin to save her friend. But Ellie is going to do it anyway.
Corey & Evelin
I literally can’t believe these two are still together. They have never seemed like they even like each other, let alone love each other. Yet here they are in Ecuador, living their best lives? Apparently, they broke up and he went to Peru for a month. He was ready to pack his crap in Ecuador and move on. But Corona hit and he was stuck in quarantine with Evelin. They started to work things out again. So apparently the wedding is back on. They are getting married in five months. I do not see that happening. They can finally open their beach bar again. But Corey hasn’t come clean to Evelin about what really happened in Peru with a girl named Jenny.

Evelin and Corey go to dinner with her family to tell them they have set a wedding date. Evelin says she never wanted to get married. She is only getting married because Corey wants it. That’s not a good start to the marriage. Evelin’s sister, Lesley is not happy about the wedding. Corey has learned a little bit of Spanish finally. Her parents are happy. Lesley is not. Especially after Corey’s escapades in Peru.
Ariela & Biniyam
Over in Ethiopia, Ari and Bini are still going strong. Ari seems to have picked up even more of the language. She’s raising the baby like a true Ethiopian. Their interview was kind of tense. But, spoiler alert, these two are still happily living in Ethiopia. Ari wants her ex husband to come for a visit. Apparently, they are best friends. That’s weird. Leandro, her ex is in Ethiopia but he has to quarantine for three days. She met Leandro in Argentina. They were married for ten years. But they apparently had different plans for their futures. Ari is way too hung up on the Leandro dude. It’s very rude to Bini. Especially since Bini’s first wife went back to her ex.

Bini’s sisters do not know about Leandro’s visit. They do not really get along with Ari. But now she has to tell the sisters about his visit. And he is staying in their house! Bini’s sister says “this is white people shit.” LOL. One of the sisters says that she knows about Ari and Leandro spending time together in New Jersey. Apparently, Ari told one of the sisters than when she went back to NJ Leandro stayed with her at her house. She was pregnant and went home to have the baby, but then decided to come back and have the baby in Ethiopia. Now, Bini thinks they slept together. Bini has it out for Leandro now.
Jenny & Sumit
Oh how I have missed these two. I hope we get to see them get married this season. Also, spoiler alert they are still together in India. I was very worried about them during Covid, but I believe they both managed not to get it. It’s Jenny’s 63rd birthday and Sumit brought her flowers. Then, Sumit takes Jenny to see his astrologer. Jenny is not really down with it, but she goes along. The astrologer basically tells them not to rush into marriage. They should just go with the flow. Jenny is not happy with his advice. Her visa will expire soon.

Later, Jenny gets a letter saying that her visa application has been “closed.” What is that about? Is her visa expired? So Jenny has to leave the country and return again. Sumit says they can go to Nepal for a couple of months. They need to talk to a travel agent. Well, then they find out that the Nepal border is closed. Oh and Sumit doesn’t even have a passport. This is a disaster. Jenny says it looks like she is going back to America. She’s furious. They get in a huge fight. Jenny says she is done with coming in and out of the country every six months. She’s booking a flight and going home because he won’t marry him.
Alina & Steven
Steven is 26 and from Salt Lake City, Utah. Alina is 20 and from Russia. Steven is weird. Like really weird. His parents are weird. They are Mormons and they have church in their backyard due to Covid. He literally lives in his parents basement. On his Mormon mission tour he spent two years in Eastern Europe and learned Russian. Russians think Mormons are a cult who sell human organs. Interesting. Wow, he is much cuter with short hair. Because the Russian border is closed due to Covid, these two are moving to Turkey. I loved Turkey! Although, that might have been where we got surrounded by machine guns for going on a government property we should not have.? Steven expects Alina to convert to Mormonism. And Steven has some secrets that could destroy the relationship.
And that’s a wrap for season one, we didn’t get any Kenny and Armando scenes and we still don’t know if Victor is dead! I hope some of y’all are watching this with me!
I am watching even though I told myself not to watch. Nothing *new* ever happens…just the same old shit that I cannot believe is being rehashed (though I suppose that’s what people like??) The Ari and Bini situation did throw me for a little bit of a loop, I guess. How did I miss that Ari was married for that long?? I too hate Evelin and Corey. People who want to marry people who don’t want to get married (and people who get married when they don’t want to) really bother me. Pick a lane and stick with it. I’m just as frustrated…but I’ll still watch lol.
Crazy in Love or just crazy? I enjoy watching but it’s like watching a train wreck. Jenny and Ellie look foolish. Why can’t they go abroad for a trial period rather than give up their entire lives and possessions in the U.S. for men who have lied and cheated on them? I don’t think Summit wants marriage with Jenny. He’s just content to shack up.
Love this freakin show! Ari/Bini – wow the Leandro situation is beyond weird!
Jenny/Sumit – he will never get married without his parent’s approval and that will never happen!
Going to be a good season!!!
I’m watching. This is probably my favorite TV show. I missed half of it so I’ll have to catch up next week.
Love this show!!!
I agree Sumit will never marry without his parents’ approval.
Ari makes me crazy. I think she’s very spoiled and has been looking for a way out since she first arrived to Ethiopia. I recall her saying he didn’t look like what she remembered back when she first got there. Anyway, we’ll see what happens. I feel bad for Bini.
I don’t feel the love for Kenny and Armando that everyone else seems to feel. Kenny makes me nervous. I also wonder how much time Armando has spent in USA – did they meet here? I don’t remember their backstory. Based on what we’ve seen thus far, I expect them to come here for awhile. I have a suspicion they actually live here but met up there for the show. But what do I know? Perhaps I just have an overactive imagination.
This and Love After Lock Up are my favorite guilty pleasures!!
So glad you are recapping this. I’m hooked on 90 day in all variations, the good and the bad. Then of course the pillow talks are almost better than the show. That tells you how little there is on cable tv these days!
I agree, I prefer watching Pillow Talk, they are funny and keep it real
I went to Turkey in 2015 during the election and also had a fun experience. The guy running sent the army or some bandit ppl to the hotel I was at to pick up some protesters. 30-40 men with guns pointed weapons at all of us and went from room to room to find these guys. I was terrified.
My favorite show since Season One. These people are all nuts. They can’t find someone in their own country? NOBODY IS PERFECT. Find someone closer. Ellie is desperate crazy. She knows he’s a cheating SOB so of course the next step is to sell your belongings, get rid of your business and MOVE TO BE WITH HIM. Ari is irritating and spoiled. GET A DAMN JOB. The ex is now coming? Is this a production thing? I FF thru Cory or Evelyn. Looks like Kenny is having second thoughts. Sumit is a liar, has been from the beginning and she STILL moved there and then came back WHEN SHE KNEW HE WAS MARRIED. And she’s upset NOW?? She waits till now?? Please. This has got to be production. I think a lot of them need the TLC $ cuz this just can’t be the real story and if so, then NEVER underestimate the stupidity of people. Steven the mormon guy is strange and extremely creepy and that girl needs to RUN FAR AWAY. I am always astounded the level of desperation these people sink to. Makes me feel very normal living with 6 cats and a 75 year old man/child who pees in the sink and can’t pickup after himself….
Spoiler Alert!
Jenny and Sumit and Bini and Ari are still living happily ever after in India and Ethiopia last I heard. They are on social media a lot. Ari an Bini travel a lot with the baby and her parents.
Since I am almost completely off bravo you know I am watching 90 days!
I started watching it but didn’t get a chance to watch it all. I’ll watch it today. Kenny and Armando are on pillow talk for this season of 90 days the other way. It’s on demand. Pillow talk is my favorite part! I truly laugh out loud at the couples watching the show and commenting!
So I think my comment was sent as an email. How can they be on Pillow Talk when they are on the show?
Good question!! Lol, see I didn’t see the whole show! I need to watch it now.
They were on a pillow talk for a different show on the discovery channel and it was fun having them on there.
I enjoy every couple when they are on pillow talk more than when they are on the shows!
Thank you so much for recapping! I love to hate all the 90 days and pillow talk cracks me up! I’m amazed at Ellie and she looks like a fool. Love doesn’t make you do crazy things. Deciding to ignore reality does. Ari is spoiled. Must be nice to have Mommy and Daddy support you. No jobs but they have a nanny! 🙄. Did she really think she could confide in her husband’s sister? That “white people” comment made me cackle. Jenny is another fool … he has consistently lied to her from the start and she’s consistently believed him. I can’t wait for Armando and Kenny .. they are my favorite! Looks like a great season and I am here for the recaps and comments!!!
Re previous comment, right on with observation that ignoring reality makes you do crazy things. Ellie is someone who is in love with someone her imagination is telling her he is; not who he is in reality.
Ari IS spoiled and I think it is totally weird that she got divorced because she wanted to travel and her husband wanted to study and earn a doctorate. There are ways to just make that work if you try hard enough. She is flakey and her ex-husband coming to visit is too weird. I did love the dress she was wearing though.
Many of these people just seem like they need more close friends who can help them get out of their delusions.
Looks like in the preview of future shows that Jenny is at some event with Sumit’s parents so she apparently was able to stay in India. Maybe they were able to get a reversed decision on her visa due to the pandemic flaring up again. I don’t think Sumit is willing to get cast out by his parents and they sure seemed unlikely to change their minds about this proposed marriage.
Watching Corey and Evelyn is so painful. Corey only partially telling the truth about his time in Peru is so dumb and will certainly come back to bite him. Glad to see he is finally willing to learn a little Spanish; his refusal to do that earlier was mystifying and no wonder Evelyn was irritated by it. This long list of TOW Americans who move to another country without learning the language is dismayingly arrogant. Why do these people not think of using their damn computers to learn what will become their native language.
I thought Steven putting a tie on for a backyard church service surprising. And he WAS much better looking with short hair. And he had a tie on for many of those short hair pictures too so maybe he just likes them unlike most men I know? Somehow I think this plan of Alina converting is optimistic. I guess that his religion requires that?
Thanks for the recap!
Yeah I have a hard time believing Evelin and Cory. In the previews for next week we hear Evelin say Corey will pay for the wedding. She tells him it could cost up to $50,000. What?! First of all she keeps saying she’s not that interested in getting married so it doesn’t make sense to spend that much money. Secondly, that town they live in looks pretty poor so I doubt getting married there would cost that much unless they are going to some major city. But even so, I would not think the average nice wedding in her country would cost that much. This storyline is not believable.
I love all the iterations of 90 day Fiance! It’s very dramatic and mostly funny. TLC picks the most messed up people to be on the show…ie: Angela….Natalie….Sumit, etc. It’s messed up, but it’s great tv! Reminds me to count my blessings that I’m not any of them every day….
I sort of love them all. I want everyone to work things out.
Love the shows but it seems like the first half of each show is a repeat of the prior week, AND, there are so many commercials. Reading your recaps (thank you) or watching Pillow Talk is so much easier. Whenever Steve is on I expect the fellows from Book of Mormon to show up and break into song. I wonder how Ellie has been so successful in the restaurant business yet shows such bad judgement moving to live with Victor. I hope she comes to her senses before she loses everything she has. Does Victor have a job?
Jenny and Sumit….I can’t believe we are still at the same story line. I thought it was disclosed that Evelin and Corey were in fact married when they first came on the 90 Day shows?
Well, TT, you turned me on to the 90 Day series and I am hooked. Ari left me shaking my head a LOT. She presents her ex coming to visit as “GOOD NEWS” to his sisters? In what world would that ever be considered good news to anyone but her. And he is visiting because SHE invited him. Waaaaay out of line. Bini is far from perfect, but this is ridiculous. Should be interesting to watch. I wonder what Bini did for Ari to say she was never going back to Ethiopia with Avi. I guess maybe he cheated on her. I really wanted these two to work out, but ugh. Mostly, it seems that ALL of these women are fools.
Don’t count out Avi and Bini. They go through a lot of ups and downs… for sure … but stay tuned…
