I meant to give you guys a new Open Forum yesterday but the site was really busy with the exclusives. If you can please share those posts on your social media. First of all, sending lots of love to all of you in the path of Ida. She seems like a big ole bitch. Hang tough. I feel guilty because today is day two of sunshine! Banjo is doing really well on his prednisone and some one was kind enough to send up a little bit more. I ain’t to proud to began if anyone else has any leftovers. Even his weird tumor/growth he had is almost completely gone. We even went for a walk yesterday! He’s barely been outside for quite some time as it just never stopped raining. Life is good again now.
It’s Sunday night when all the good stuff comes on TV. In my neverending and fruitless efforts to get you guys off the Bravo teat, I wanted to recommend two REALLY good shows on Showtime. First, is Work In Progress. The show description says, “Abby is a 45-year-old self-identified fat, queer dyke whose misfortune and despair unexpectedly lead her to a vibrantly transformative relationship. Chicago improv mainstay Abby McEnany co-created and stars in this uniquely human comedy series.” sounds really depressing. But it is somehow kind of hilarious. It’s a dark comedy. If you have never seen the show, you will have the pleasure of being able to binge season one. Season two has just started. As someone who struggles to find a decent psychiatrist, Abby’s never-ending quest in that regard is familiar to me, and somehow really funny.
In keeping with the lesbian theme, I would also like to highly recommend, The L-Word: Generation Q. Also on Showtime, the show stars Jennifer Beals, Kate Moennig and Leisha Hailey alongside a group of tightknit friends experiencing life, love, setbacks and success in LA. In this case, the L word is lesbian. There is a lot of lesbian sexual activity on the show, so if that is a deal breaker for you, you are going to miss a REALLY good series. It is also in season two, so definitely binge season one. Other than the lesbian porn, it’s a show about a very close group of women trying to manage their careers, raise children, and deal with constant makeups and breakups and the usual gossip and feuds within the group. I can’t possible do these two shows justice with these descriptions. They both air new episodes on Sunday night. Work in Progress is a half hour show but you get two episodes each week.
I know that a lot of you are going through some things right now. Feel free to vent in comments and update us when you can as always. Oh, and I just saw that Gregg Leakes is losing his fight with cancer. Just an FYI.
I’m off to stick some chicken thighs in the oven. It’s a new recipe so I have no idea how this will go. Also, I don’t say it enough, but I am very grateful for this group. I appreciate all the support here not just for me but for each other. It’s nice to have a safe space.
