Sorry for not getting this up earlier, I have an awful lot going on here for someone who never leaves her house. My pre-pandemic hermit life was a whole lot easier than this one. I didn’t expect it to change that much. But it did. Currently, my elderly dog is needy of attention and I am trying to give it to him and get my past few days of narcolepsy under control at the same time. Also, today, someone whacked my mailbox over again. Kids today like to slap stuff. There is a sign outside my house that alerts drivers to the school ahead. Of the forty or so walkers who go back and forth on the sidewalk outside my house, 99% of the boys slap it, as do many of the girls. It never bothered me until COVID. It’s got to be the germiest sign ever! Elementary kids are giant petri dishs. And nose pickers. It doesn’t take much to knock my mailbox over. That was the point of the sign story. I think someone just slapped it.

In other news, there is a plague on my house. Every week there are new random bugs in here even thought the door is never opened for any longer than it takes to let the boy in and out. It takes him a bit longer these days, but still. First it was those blind flying things with multiple sets of wings. Next it was very tiny bugs, they hop really high for their size and make a loud pop sound when they hop. They are so tiny I have to wear my reading glasses to find them. So, both of those plagues stopped and then last night there were plain old regular flies in my windows. It’s like they all hatched in here somewhere. They all seem to be trying to get out but even when I open the windows in the July Georgia heat, they don’t want to go. They also just happily walk right across fly traps.
But today, was a better day, I was able to chase most of the flies out of the windows. Banjo had a good day. I was more productive than usual with household chores. And it didn’t rain! So um, YAY?
I know a lot of you have way more serious things going on in your lives. And hopefully some of you are enjoying your weekend. So let me know how it’s going!
Well, I found the largest thickest spider in the tub and doused it in raid AND IT DIDNT FLINCH. I then had to kill it. It was personal. Not sure what kind. I’m here in Newport Beach and I have never seen this thick of a spider before. I am ADHD about cleaning and I cannot stand insects of any kind inside. They belong outdoors!!! It’s dead and gone. They make my skin crawl….
I usually use a foamy bathroom cleaning product works wonders & smells nice afterwards.
REALLY?? I’m getting some today! THANK YOU
Rubbing alcohol, instant kill for spiders!
I noticed more bugs but I think it’s because the neighbor’s dog poop in my yard when I’m on the road…they don’t pick it up and I finally installed a fence last week.
I watched Married at First Sight episode one of the new season. They are in Houston. I don’t know if I have the mental energy to get into it this season. The show can be draining if the couples are jerks or liars.
I’ve seen the first two episodes. There are still couple weddings left. It’s a really mixed back. The Asian couple seems like they will have the normal ups and downs and be fine. The first black couple to marry seemed to both fall in love at first sight and they have a lot in common. The second black couple to marry looks like the cute fireman got put with a high maintenance fashionista. While they do have some things in common, they really don’t seem like a good match to me. I don’t remember much about the two white couples. I think one of the females is strange, maybe even both. And not cute strange like that one couple from New Orleans. I’ll probably do some recaps soon. I need get a plan to get my life in order first.
Thanks TT. I’ll try to get into it.
I’ve had so much bad news in the past week I can’t even begin to start. My dog is sick, my mom is sick, my dad sick and my husband doesn’t feel good. All different things, kind of. I also had three interviews in one day for a job that I was basically told I got last week. And now silence. I’m also peri menopause and feeling super irritated. So that’s me. I’m beyond over everything but, I’m trying. I’m also watching married at first sight. I think the guy the red head ends up with is going to be a total jerk. Just my guess.
We had our annual “Three Boys’ Birthday Barbecue Bash” yesterday on our back deck. Within two weeks of each other other my husband, son and father all have birthdays. So yesterday on my father’s 91st birthday, we celebrated his birthday, my husband’s 65th birthday, and my son’s 28th birthday. There were 11 of us. This was a such an improvement over last year. And there were three desserts, one requested by each of them—chocolate cake with fudge frosting, pecan pie cake and blueberry pie with vanilla ice cream.
That sounds fun,, my 2 sisters and I have one big “party” during our birthday month too. This year was roller skating at an outdoor park.
Chocolate cake with fudge frosting is my favorite. Years ago I made one with the recipe from the side of the can of Hershey cocoa powder— it was delicious. Moist and chocolaty.
I stopped making it because I would eat the whole cake by myself. I realized I had a problem when I presliced the entire cake before going to bed so I wouldn’t have to waste time cutting it when I got up in the middle of the night for cake…lol
Both my cake and the frosting are made with melted bittersweet chocolate and melted butter. Luckily, besides the fact that most guests had a slice, several asked for pieces to take home, so there’s not much left.
I miss those days of yesteryear family gatherings celebrating together & just being around family. Thanks for the memories. Sounds like you had a great time !
We’ll, the guests had a great time. I spent s lot of the me on my feet. But I think my father really enjoyed it and that’s really important.
Spent the entire day at the beach with my best friend forever. Beautiful weather walked swam ate read napped & wrote all day. It was so much fun. I hope to return a few more times this summer. Atmospheric conditions & raw beauty. Showed him where G. Maxwell’s husband / paramour was found by the Fed’s on his oceanfront property. Currently reading my face off. 3 new autobiographies Sharon Stone Andrew McCarthy & Sinead O Conner. Last Sunday double feature The Green Book & American Gangster. Both recommendations by a friend. This week another double feature later this evening. Any suggestions friends? I have HBO max Netflix. Have a great summer !
xo Marc p.s. just started watching Atypical on Netflix it’s really a great show ! Hope Banjo is feeling better and the bug situation sounds awful. Perhaps a fly strip or light bulb by entryway/ exitway? Too soon in the heat of summer to have an infestation. Sorry to hear that.
Ughhh! I am a 2nd grade teacher in Texas and I have to go back to work tomorrow! Already! Summer is over! Usually I am very productive — lots of cleaning, house projects, visits with my sister, etc. in the summer and this year all I could do was read, nap, drink wine or Titos, go to bed, repeat. COVID killed me last year — we had to teach in person AND record every lesson, activity and worksheet ahead of time to post for the online students. Two full time jobs with no extra pay! We were handed a spray bottle of disinfectant by our district and basically sent to the room. Our idiot governor has already prohibited schools from requiring masks so here we go again! Still tired from last year and not sure where I will find the energy to do it again (but I will). Whew! Rant over! Thanks for letting me vent! Hope everyone else is having a fan-tast-ic weekend.
UGH! I thought only Florida had the stupid governor forbidding masks. Also, school used to start in SEPTEMBER. There is a reason for that. It’s hot as balls in the south during August. At least one kid dies every year during football practice due to the heat.
As a former second grade teacher (among many others but second grade is the best!) I don’t see how there are enough hours in the day for you to add the job of “online teacher” FOR SEVEN YEAR OLDS on top of your other full-time teaching job that there are not enough hours in the day for.
Bless you for not quitting. I imagine lots of teachers will, and I won’t blame them one bit.
I live in Texas and am friends with a couple of teachers. My hat goes off to them and all teachers everywhere. The amount of time and double work they’ve put in the last year is unbelievable and only the most dedicated are staying
TT, have you tried looking for a mobile vet? I found one though a local animal shelter, and it’s perfect for my dog. He was terrible at the vet – very anxious (and I was too). She can handle him in his yard, or anywhere you like. And her rates were more affordable than the vet office.
As for bugs, I heard someone used hairspray as it was handy when the saw a bug. Said it worked great – but I haven’t tried it myself.
Aqua Net. is the best. Their little wings can’t flap then you can nail them with a shoe.
I didn’t know they still made Aqua Net. Does it still come in the metal can with the aersol spray or is it in a stupid pump bottle?
There is nothing like a Palmetto roach to get me screaming. Those things are fierce. I place peppermint essence of oil pads in dark corners of my garage. I read it’s a natural deterrent. So far good perhaps it’s just a coincidence though. Also, I put Borax down my drains now and then. My hairdresser told me this would help.
Palmetto bugs are the one thing…well and lizards in my mailbox…. that I DO NOT miss about living in South Carolina.
I call Palmetto bugs giant water bugs. Just give me the shivers thinking about them.😰😰💀💀
TT, I’ve asked this before and never got an answer. How come I don’t get notified of any new posts or follow up comments by email, even tho I click on this boxes every time I post?
🤔🤔🤔❓❓❓
This is a wordpress site – not sure how I got to the root of it but it’s there where I had to indicate I wanted notifications – then to receive notifications regarding comments I tick the boxes
Maybe that would help you

I dunno. Sometimes my notfications stop too and then magically come back. I discovered that usually that means I hit spam instead of trash after reading them. The only thing I can suggest is going through all your spam and approving all the ones you see in there.
I wish I could help but, I have no control over that. I sign up the same way you do, 🙁
I have to re-sign in every time I post and the ads come up in a language that resembles Russian or Greek. As long as I can still read and post its all good
Can you try going to an online store? I get D’artagnan (fancy meats) ads I also get a lot of chewy ads. And just got a Best Buy ad and one inviting me to vacation in Cleavland… lol.
Hopefully this will fix it for you. xoxox
I love to sit outside and read, do some facebooking, play games and watch my old lady try to keep up with the squirrels. She turned 16 last month, but I believe she thinks she’s still a kitten. I deal with all types of bugs. About a week ago, this giant green thing with wings landed on my head. So after I had a full blown meltdown that caused 2 CNA’s to wrestle me so I wouldn’t hurt myself, I had to go inside and take two valium. Today I’ve got 2 fly swatters and a spray bottle of insecticide right next to me. (Que the music from Good Bad and the Ugly) I’m ready for my showdown!
LOL you write well as I totally envisioned that fandango!!
I have reacted the same many times over the years and this gave me today’s chuckle 😀
I am now and forever going forward going to call any “attacks” being bug related or mental related My Fandango!!
So let it be written, so let it be done.
I’m glad I was able to give you a chuckle. People should have at least one a day.
XOXO
I work in Long term care and one of my sites just locked down again and I am waiting for the other to do the same. It sucks sooo much because the residents were just starting to see their families again on a regular basis.
My coworkers husband is terminally ill too and our office mate has COVID symptoms starting yesterday eventhoufh she tested negative Friday (we are tested twice a week) and has the vaccine. I am praying nothing gets passed to my coworker. I found out about her being sick of course after I attend church and got baptized…
I’m praying my facility doesn’t get shut down again. Like you said, we’re just starting to see family again. I hope your co-workers don’t have anything, but you went to the right place. Got Baptized and prayed for. Thin combination with the vaccine, you should be ok.
I’m down to one fly. They used to be all over the windows and I sprayed them and put up fly traps. But I sort of feel sorry for the sole survivor. The poor guy is flying around from window to window as if to say, “Where did everyone go? Guys? Where are you? 🙁
Now that USA Women’s Soccer is OUT, Or do we have to play again for Bronze? I might get to bed before sun up. Unless Women’s gymnastic is aired live at four A.M. I was surprised that we were unable to beat Canada, but it saved us an ass beating by Sweden who will take the gold this year. Congrats, to my Canookian friends!
CURIOUS I’ve been looking up a photo of you Tamara tattles. I’ve been recovering from pelvic prolapse surgery. So please reply! Your whole web page has kept me entertained so THANKFUL, your awesome 😎 Love the straight forwardness, also the comments that are fun! HUGS From Oregon
Not sure you would be looking up a photo of me. You will not find one. But there are plenty of hate sites about me you could find with all sorts of funny ones. I’m off now to look up photos of you and your family.
Hugs From the ATL Streets.
