Oh Joy! It’s time for another RHONY Recap where I will report on all the screaming and arguing and preaching and finger-pointing and canceling the New York women do. Then, we will all scream and argue and preach and point fingers and cancel each other in the comment section. So, yay?
Can We Please Call A Truce?
Oh Gawd. I’m not ready for this. It’s going to be like this all season, isn’t. Leah’s reaction to Eboni coming home early saying that Luann called her an angry black woman is so fake and ridiculous. Heather is trying to moderate Luann and her reaction to Eboni. Meanwhile, Eboni is really embellishing the story to Leah. Heather returns to Ramona’s house. She and Eboni discuss fake black versus rea black America. Eboni doesn’t think Heather is woke enough either. Can we just get to the part where they all call a truce? Oh good. It looks like we are getting there. Or not. Eboni doesn’t think she needs to apologize for anything she did and said. So she doesn’t. Eboni goes to order herself some comfort food rather than eating with the ladies. I am thrilled with this decision. Especially if she takes Leah with her.

Finally, the ladies go to the beach to surf fish. Of course Sonja gloms on to their fishing instructor right off the bat. They all throw on waders and off they go to fish except of Leah who doesn’t want to wear waders. And, Luann who uses the excuse she has to work on her props for tonight’s party. Apparently, working on her props means hula hooping. I hate people who surf fish on the beach. Their hooks are just another scary thing to try to avoid. Eboni seem to be the only one trying to enjoy the fishing experience. Oh, Sonja and Heather are giving it a good try as well.
Fish or Cut Bait?
It’s time to wrap up the surf fishing scene. Oh, Lord. Eboni and Luann are talking again. Thankfully, they hug things out. Then, Eboni goes to suck up to Sonja. She has hired a matchmaker to find her a man. They all have a winter picnic on the beach. Since the are eating a meal, it is imperative that they choose a topic that will cause drama. They’ve already done sex and race. So, that leaves them with politics. Eboni is going to host an election party. Oh! This should go well.

It looks like we are going to go from fishing to a… um, to some sort of 70s themed beauty pageant? Who are the writers for this franchise? They can’t possibly be women. There are no grown ass women on the planet who do mock beauty pageants on girls trips. Not one. Leah has another breakdown about her grandmother. Eboni is also losing her grandmother but she’s not hysterical and all over the place. I feel like I’m on an acid trip. None of what I am seeing is making sense. I have literally nothing to say about this other than that.
Leah Needs In-Patient Treatment
The script says that Leah and Heather have to have a catfight. Eboni is riling up Leah. Heater is venting about Leah to Sonja. When Eboni tells Leah that Heather said that everyone needs to vote. Eboni says the exact same thing. Leah runs off to rage on Heather. Apparently, she is not allowed to talk to anyone about her issues with voting. Leah screams from the balcony that Heather is “white feminism 101” and she is the problem. Does Leah realizes she is white? I hate this show. Leah, who has to have a HUGE dramatic moment in every scene tells Heather to just be quiet. And, that she doesn’t need to be part of every conversation. All the insults that Leah hurls at Heather are really Leah’s own issues and behaviors. Just shut your pie hole, Leah!

Leah grabs a bouquet of flowers and her purse and storms off to the getaway limo. They are all heading to do the stupid, juvenile pageant. When Heather gets on, Leah starts screaming that she doesn’t want Leah in the party limo. Heather says, “Oh, relax bitch.” And Leah jumps up and comes for Heather. She throws he flowers at her and then runs out of the limo to have her third? fourth? fifth? dramatic hissyfit of the episode. Heather is literally the most easy going out of the bunch. And finally the episode ends.
Next week: More incoherent screaming and Ebony’s election party. UGH.
I can’t even stomach looking at Leah. Can a person really be this un self-aware? She has taken this franchise down.
Definitely!!!!! She is crude and uncouth.
Kat-my bad misread this portion of your comment. The screeching, drunk fighting part.
I can’t watch Leah she is a fake acting attention seeking disgust. Eboni now has brought up race every single episode.
If I was Luann I would have said I called you angry, it’s a verb, that’s it! It wasn’t about her race. This show sucks now. Sonja is done. Luann and Ramona are the only saving graces.
RHONY sucks. I’m tired of Ebony being so focused on race. Ebony pretty much said she was angry. Then said don’t call me angry. What? Luann was angry too. Soooo, is it ok to call her angry??
Leah is awful. Romona is right about her but surprisingly Romona isn’t articulating it very well. Heather needs to go home and wash her hair.
Lu looks great. That’s all. This show sucks. Bravo has gotten even worse. I need to quit watching but … never quit even though I can’t stand it anymore.
LOL Tamara, I don’t know how many hissy fits Leah has had. It feels like one continuous hissy fit.
God bless you Tamara for enduring this horrible mess in order to provide us a recap. Leah and Ebony have ruined it and removed all of the fun- it has become unwatchable.
I couldn’t agree more. This part of the franchise I always looked forward to fir the fun. Even their drama was silly fun drama. These two are destroying it and I’m sad to say after watching from day one I cannot watch any longer.
I wanted to yank that track Heather had out of her head. These women really need to check their clip ins in the back before their scenes.
Leah….oh yay her sister is back next week, aka the housewife tryouts. imagine all 3 of them, I think even Lu would throw in the cabaret towell.
Her sister is soooo creepy and is trying to hard to be relevant.
Idk if I will finish this season. I will read your recaps. I can’t handle Leah. She gives me anxiety. She is all over the place. She had no intention of getting along with Heather. It was premeditated mayhem! I just can’t with her. If she knows something bothers someone, like the vulgar talk w/Ramona, then Leah is going to do it 1000x more.
I am not feeling Eboni. There are enough race issues without added embellishment. I truly don’t think Lu thought “angry black woman.” I just thought Eboni was angry period, loud, and acting like Wendy (RHOP) w/making sure everyone knew how educated she is. Yes, she has something to be proud of, but I think people are more impressed by people who don’t brag…kind like the saying wealth whispers & money screams (I realize that is wealth vs education, I just can’t stand any type of boasting). I think people who need to announce their credentials are a huge turn off. Eboni is breaking BOTH arms patting herself on the back. This show irked me tonight.
Eboni didn’t embellish
So Lu called her an “angry black woman” as Eboni went back to Leah and stated?????? Not what I heard. She added to what Lu said to make it fit her racist narrative after she told Ramona “I can’t with you and your white fragility.” Eboni was the one talking race at Lu’s table. Then, called Lu “trash.”
You’re exactly right. Lu did not call her an angry black woman.
Right. She added an untrue detail (definition of embellish) to Lu’s comment to make it fit her narrative.
She did
You’re right she didn’t embellish!!!
so what Eboni said angry black woman and then she saidLu said I was angry….so Eboni said it right. the people that are leaving these evil comments they weren’t going to watch the show anyway I think New York is getting good at this point I’m going to continue watching it
I am done with NY, Leah and Eboni. Why does everything have to be about race?
Because it has become more than apparent that we are a country full of racists.
I am open to hearing from any POC what pains them so badly.
I’m so curious….and now I might have to watch this horrible sounding episode…..did Luanne actually say “angry black woman?” Or was it a “your angry” and ebony is a black woman. I get this might be splitting hairs but “angry black woman” is a racial stereo type. Angry – as a person – of whatever race (maybe for good reasons ) is different IMO
She only called her angry. Not an angry black woman. Eboni is the one bringing up race constantly. And she did embellish the truth. She added to what Lu said.
Can’t repeat verbatim and my memory may be a little fuzzy, but Lu said “angry woman” with a smirk on her face that let you know exactly what she meant and then she said…”I didn’t mention race!!”
That whole little interchange let me know all I need to know about Lu.
PLUS, she only spoke with Eboni and apologized because she was shamed into it and knew if she didn’t she’d be cancelled.
💯
Yes absolutly correct, her attitude and smirk is what did it for me. She knew what she was doing!
I forgot to record it. Thanks for the recap.
I watch so you don’t have to. It’s just awful.
Yea I’m going to have to take advantage of you watching in the future. I can’t watch this one anymore.
And we all thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You sacrificed and laid down on the sword for us. Bless you!
i just won’t watch. leah is practicing “Hype”, the book, but she’s not playing the long game unless there’s some micro market she’s attempting to exploit.
Leah playing a long game. That gave me a laugh I won’t be buying her book..
gabrielle bluestone wrote “Hype”, about billy mcfarland’s fyre festival scam. leah was quoted/interviewed extensively as a source on the subject of using social media to hype something.
Watching RHONY is above and beyond the call of duty. Bless you. This has gotten unwatchable. I watch Bravo for escape and fun. This has certainly become NOT FUN.
Eboni is race baiting. Leah is trash. And the two of them were at an NBA game last night. Casey Wilson was on WWHL and said she loves Leah and Eboni sung her praises. Is this a bad joke!? What is even remotely likable about Leah?!!!!
Yeah, I saw this Casey person and Eboni on WWHL. It was so clearly biased towards Leah I wanted to puke. A total set up.
That WWHL episode was wacky. I don’t get it. Leah is completely unlikeable and for Eboni to be friends with someone like that speaks volumes about her character as well. Leah is jumping on the woke bandwagon. That “OH NO SHE DIDN’T after the “angry” comment was laughable. Girl, you’re as white as can be. Stop acting like you get it. Eboni should be embarrassed hanging out with a 40 year old woman stuck at 16. Leah was out of line in that limo. I would have clocked her if I were Heather. Heather did make me cringe about the “you’re articulate” and “I knew Diddy” comments. She meant well but it came off as being totally out of touch. I don’t blame her for leaving this shit show. She’s too mature, smart and successful for this group of cows.
Eboni clearly has an agenda and Leah is her rabid ferret. Sonja seems checked out and Ramona is walking on eggshells around Eboni.
yes, Eboni has an agenda and alters things to fit her narrative. What started out as a conversation about Leah became all about her. She says the other women didn’t call Leah angry. that’s because you hijacked the conversation, didn’t fully listen and made it all about you! She came on to play the game. Lu had to apologize to her for saying the word angry but what about the fact that she did not listen to what Lu was saying about Ramona and her religious upbringing? If The women are to listen and learn about Eboni then she should also listen and learn about each of them as well. It’s a two way street.
Now she is going to help Sonja, as if she is a shrinking violet? What BS. Sonja can hold her own. She doesn’t need Eboni’s help with the women.
As for Leah, she is just disgusting. Period. End of story.
Her poor parents! I would be humiliated and embarrassed to have any child I raised on TV behaving like this. Of course I’m sure she tells her parents, “It’s acting,” and not real.
Thank you TT for the recaps! You are the best!
I think Heather is very different now without Carole. Heather keeps trying to ignore or dismiss Leah and this sets her off. Leah comes across like an irresponsible teenager while the rest are mature and responsible
I agree with you. Leah seems to have stopped maturing at around 16 years old. She’s very immature, very awkward and has no social graces. She isn’t a good fit for this group one bit.
Agreed. HOWEVER, if Leah wasn’t there, I think the addition of Eboni would have gone much more smoothly. I cannot for the life of me understand why someone so accomplished, and yes educated, and mature would be friends with Leah. But they are apparently friends off the show. It’s mind boggling.
It is mind boggling!!
I 1000% agree with that, TT! I feel like Eboni has been given her script as a supporting role for Leah, and she’s playing it to a “t”.
I agree, but smooth isn’t what is wanted. Not by me anyway.
You are sooo right!! 👏…👏…👏
Try ignoring a bully. You will see anger like no other. Bullies don’t like people who aren’t willing to become their minions.
I once faced a bully head on. They don’t like a taste of their own medicine.
I watched about 10 minutes and then walked next door with hubby to see the neighbors new puppies and completely forgot about the rest of it. This is telling. All I do know is that it’s enough of all this embellishing from Eboni. Enough. And as for Leah? She has mental problems and needs, IMHO, a 5150 hold. Something is really wrong with her. I won’t be watching anymore but I’ll read you TT. It sounded like the rest of what I didn’t see what just disgusting.
Seeing the puppies is a better use of your time. I liked Eboni a lot this episode. She showed so much thoughtfulness towards Sonja. She also explained why she got triggered by the angry word.
Yea…She watched Wendy on the Potomac Housewives Reunion. So, the key words are, angry, aggressive and ferocious? Got It!
Don’t forget articulate.
That’s just a micro aggression. 😋
Basically, avoid any compliments??
Precisely! It all can be misconstrued!
I think we’re all supposed to avoid any words or thoughts of our own, and just fold our hands, listen, nod and smile and agree with everything, regardless of how we feel or how much bullshit is being spewed, or we all could be essentially erased from the planet.
Listen, I do think Lu shouldn’t have chosen “that word” (that apparently, we dare not ever speak of, ever again). And she did become pretty closed off and haughty during “the talk”- but part of that is just Lu, whenever she’s confronted. But, things are really reaching a point where language is overly dictated, and so many words are deemed to be “trigger words” (and not just in the area of race relations), that we are starting to risk dire social consequences for opening our mouths. Too much “offends” too many people. I’m big on language and sensitivity, but even I think this has gotten totally f-ing ridiculous.
Well there was that.
I love puppies!
Giggles!!! “I love puppies”. Sooo funny as I’m immersed in comments then see that 🙂 (yes totally agree – puppies sound way better than this show). And thanks all for opinions bc I’m sooo not watching
Thank you for the recap now I do not have to watch. They were my favorites until this season. I will say it over and over, I knew Eboni would be a bad addition. It’s like she is trying to make the Black community proud but she is on the wrong platform. I want to see shopping, expensive homes clothes and cars not race baiting. Booooooooooo
Lol, I didn’t have the visceral reaction you all did this week🤣 I just knew it would be what it was, better to just knit and have the sound on low.
New York got boring last season, but this season is just straight up uncomfortable. This show used to be a good escape but i can’t watch all these literal narcissistic women. Ramona and Lu are in their own assholes. Sonja needs medication. Leah needs stronger medication. Eboni is feeling a little bit forced and contrived to have the conversations that production wants her to have. Problem is, these conversations don’t seem to be happening in an organic, authentic, and productive way. It feels a lot like baiting when we all already know who these gross women are, and Eboni, who has watched every episode of RHONY knows that too. And Leah is that uncomfortably over-performing “look at me! Look at me! Im an ally!” white savior blah blah blah. I feel bad for mama holla heather, shoulda sat this one out in the first place lol
I hope the ratings TANK.
@blahblah: you summed it up. Thank you.
Agree that Leah is crazy, crass and over dramatic. This is just my opinion. But I think Heather does butt into conversations. It sounds more like she is lecturing rather than discussing and comes across very self righteous. The statement about her getting it because she knows Puffy was just laughably ridiculous.
I told my husband how Condescending Heather said that she had been deep into the black culture, then names P.Diddy and Beyonce? Eboni called her out on that, and she said that they had black employees?
Oops…wrong rapper. PDiddy…but that was my point. At least we didn’t have to hear Hola.
Puffy is p diddy….and is Sean combs …. I believe
I couldn’t believe my ears when Heather talked about being deep into black lives because she knew Puffy and Beyonce! That was her claim to fame when she was first on the show too, but now it’s even more tone deaf.
Leah with her fake tears and fake outrage/awful acting — smdh. I am about done with this crap.
Leah is a few years older than me and I literally haven’t met anyone who acts like her since high school. She’s either on drugs, or off of her medication. She absolutely ruins the show and makes it unwatchable.
I couldn’t agree more. I think I pointed out that her graphic discussions about body parts and sex acts was the kind of thing that girls do in high school and not at all after, and obviously she is going out of her way to offend Ramona. Now Ramona should stop taking the bait, but that is a different discussion.
I just can’t with Eboni. Bravo is ruining all of the RH franchises by trying to make them seem inclusive. I haven’t watched a RH episode this year that didn’t drag race into it unnecessarily, and it ruins the entertainment when things go all preachy, and quite frankly it all seems contrived, like Bravo is just on a big virtue signaling marathon. None of it seems sincere.
Poor Sonja, I saw that just before lock down she had a major facelift to the tune of 75k with Dr Jacono in NYC, and yet to me she just looks sad and exhausted. I feel bad for her, I hope she does meet a good man, then maybe she can get off this sad rollercoaster she has been on.
This has nothing to do with the recap but……SONYA’S FACELIFT COST 75,000?!?!?!?! Da F##k?!?!?!? That’s a lot of facelift even for rich folk!!! She didn’t need all that work and she really looks a bit worse to me this year than last year. Depression and alcohol aren’t helping her aging process. I love her though and I hope she can find happiness.
And I thought 25K for a facelift was Outrageous for Angela on 90 days Fiancé, Happily Ever-after! 75K would have gone a long way for a facelift on Sonja’s townhome!
JustJenn, seriously I’m so relieved to hear you say this being that you’re around her age. I’m so glad to hear that kind of behavior is not the norm for your age group. Good for you girl! My God, that Leah is just a straight-up whack job! For the life of me I do not understand why she has to go into those overly dramatic hysterics screeching around like such a God dang lunatic all the time. On top of that, she just flat-out doesn’t understand or realize that gutter talk with the p and the c words in her normal everyday interactions is just straight-up classless crass and does her absolutely no favors except lower her individual level of respect. And if ebony continues to try to Interjet the race card to avoid accountability for her own behavior when she really should be checking herself, she doesn’t realize she’s diluting the validity of her own big picture Crusade. Both of these girls are trying to teach people to be woke, but are unwilling take a look at their own bulshit about themselves in the mirror
It is clear to me that Leah has struggled with mental health issues and addiction issues her whole life. If I recall correctly her family sent her away at an early age and she clearly didn’t get the help there she needed. Not blaming the family the might have thought she was just “incorrigible.” She clearly needed medical help at that time. I’m not so much angry at Leah as I am at Bravo for having her on the show and exploiting some pretty clear mental illness. (I am not a doctor, but both my undergrad and Masters focused on the psychology of brain and behavior) it was very useful in my teaching experience.
My reason for this comment is to ask you not to refer to her as a whack-job or a lunatic. IN MY OPINION, she is mentally unwell and clearly not receiving proper treatment. And the suits suck for exploiting this for ratings. She needs to be off the show and seeking help. Instead, Eboni is taking her to Nets games and enabling her.
Yes Leah is struggling and I’m concerned about her daughter
As far as mental illness many of these shoes exploit their disorders and addictions. Several have diagnosed eating disorders and this is truly not entertainment
Thank you, TT. It’s absolutely an exploitation of an unwell person and makes me uncomfortable. When Sonja becomes reasonable in comparison…I used to get a kick out of the lifestyles of these women and loved the drunken fun, but it’s not enough to just show “real” life, manufactured drama alongside prodding behavior that is negative is gut wrenching. #shameonbravo
Thank you so much @Tamara Tattles. There’s too many negative comments.
Kick A$$ request and observation.
Leah was diagnosed with Bipolar. She is not on meds otherwise she would be less reactive. As someone who has a family member diagnosed with Bipolar/manic depression its sickening.
I STILL HAVEN’T READ THE COMMENTING RULES!
https://tamaratattles.com/commenting-rules/
For me, Eboni’s reaction would have been much more relatable (and something could have been learned from it), IF she had not initially used a textbook term towards Ramona (white fragility), and, if when she retold the story to Leah, she would not have embellished what Lu really said by pretending that Lu “called her an Angry Black Woman”. Lu, in fact, called her “angry”. Period.
Now, in the heat of the moment, was that the best choice of words for Lu? Of course not- it showed a lack of understanding of that “trigger”. Angry is a trigger word for Black women. And in the post-discussion that Heather was trying to mediate, I did think that Lu was resistant to really understanding. A
But, two realities CAN exist at the same time. Just because Lu used a “trigger term”, it doesn’t negate Eboni’s purposely embellishing the story to Leah for dramatic effect. I also thought that, based on what she said later, she was shitty to Heather, when Heather was in the bedroom, talking about her experiences with Black culture (and trying to empathize with Eboni). What it feels like right now, is that for Eboni, white women are damned if they do and damned if they don’t- and she expects people to walk on eggshells.
If people in general would stay away from the “textbook” terms (which are becoming triggers for each race in and of themselves now), and just TALK (and tell the truth- not embellish and make things bigger for dramatic effect or to “win”), maybe we could get somewhere. When “textbook terms” are used, people go on the defensive.
I agree- the white fragility comment threw me off.
I appreciate the conversation and sharing of why angry is a trigger word. It must be exhausting to try and keep yourself in check so as not to perpetuate a stereotype. I think Garcelle and Crystal have done a much better job of promoting those conversations than Eboni.
100% Ebony is constantly “on”. No human responds well (or learns from) people who are constantly “on” and preaching, using what have now been so overused that they are becoming cliches, “textbook phrases”. Just freakin’ be a human being, tell it like it is (when it must be told), but stop the constant in your face preaching.
No one ever learned that way- the human response to that shit is fight or flight. People will open up to new paradigms when they feel they have a connection with people- which doesn’t come from “on high lecturing” and textbook words. I find Crystal to be smug and condescending (but hey, we all have different reactions to people!), and agree with you about Garcelle…
100% agree. Garcelle is able to make her point, stand her ground and help others understand her perspective without going bananas or being condescending. It’s called maturity, Leah, look it up.
Lu embellished as well. Eboni never said that anyone was ignorant or uneducated . Ebony said I response to Lu’s comment about education that she had the highest education of all the ladies which is subjectively true.
Lu was not initially talking about education. She was talking about Ramona’s religious upbringing to help Eboni understand why Leah talking in such a crass manner bothers Ramona so much. As it would bother many of us! Eboni misinterpreted and misstated what Lu said and it became about education and no longer religious upbringing.
That’s a fair point.
I concur with your assessment from a totally different view of the issue. HONESTLY, I wouldn’t be surprised if “the suits” and/or production got with Eboni early on and made sure she understands that she’s there to put the issue of race in the face of the women every chance she gets. The trouble with the “REAL” BRAVO shows at the moment is that they’re all too contrived and fake. These storylines are production driven and have no authenticity to them. That’s why most of the Housewives series have become quite difficult to watch.
I feel like Porsha got the same conversation from the suits. Then, when Porsha started going to protests, either alone or with Dennis, when she came back she had to quarantine and the suits were pissed because she couldn’t film. So suddenly, that stopped on RHOA and we went back to stupid shit. I may have a minority opinion here but I think Porsha was very genuine in the social justice activities. And that would have been an authentic storyline.
You can’t open a dialogue by making the other person in the conversation feel defensive. There has to be a mutual willingness to listen and share with understanding and not blame.
Kat, girl, you just nailed that with a thousand percent accuracy! Bullseye!
Hello, anger is not a trigger word for us Black women at least not for the ones I know, its just a word and if it is true then so be it. I am not offended because Lu called her angry because she was angry. I was more offended when Eboni screamed, ” Lets just be honest I have more education than everyone at this table”. Her and Wendy use education as an elevation tactic. I may not have your fame or fortune but I am smarted than you. I can not watch any of these shows because it causes these types of misconceptions and conversations. All of the shows are going in the wrong direction so I will continue reading the recaps and watching Shahs.
I’m finding that it’s only a trigger word for the 40 and under who haven’t had nearly the negative experiences as those that came before them and paved the way. My friends that watch the show say the same thing. That girl probably hasn’t had a bad day in her life. She’s beautiful, smart and rich
I really enjoyed Leah last season but this season she is awful! Part of the reason I was glad dorinda wasn’t on this year was because I didn’t want to watch an hour of angry yelling for no real reason
Well, we saw what happened to Dorinda. Sat there at the reunion, going in on Ramona and Tinsley, then siding with Leah.
I’m trying to figure out how Dorinda’s actions got her a pink slip, yet we have Leah and her blow-ups, name calling, vulgarity. I can’t watch this shit anymore.
Can we pink slip her now, pronto, immediately, no time like the present?!
I’ll tell you why- the suits deem Leah to be the right demographic, and (at least she pretends to be) woke. That’s what they want now. As the numbers continue to drop. Dumb shits. There’s no balance anymore.
Great! Create a show full of young woke women and leave the OGs alone! That would be one show I would not watch if it was cast with Leah type characters!
This season is just too difficult to watch.
While I understand the need to have discussions about race and make people mindful and aware of this issue , dare I say it’s becomes someone’s agenda in all these franchises. It’s exhausting.
I never took to Leah from last year. She says and does things for shock value . Nothing authentic about her imo.
Eboni : preaches every week to the women . There comes a point when it’s just annoying. Imo she’s just a poor house guest . Checked out early on night one, that’s ok . Then late becos of her hair, poor manners ,nothing to do with freedom ,start earlier.
Now orders in food!
I’m tired of all the educated women on the show constantly telling us how educated they are . Education is more than just a degree . Travel, language skills , street smarts all come into play.
Sonja : is just sad. This show is not for her .
Ramona : with her over exaggerated antics, mannerisms and eye rolls. Ugh!
It’s time to get a good group of friends, who travel , live life, love and bicker , host glamourous parties but have authentic realtionships.
I’m an Infrequent poster , but regular reader.
Thanks for the updates, y’all have kept keep me going in this crazy world I now find myself in. Haven’t seen my extended family since Feb 2020. Logistics , and our jobs have made that impossible , however with vaccine rates picking up hopefully sometime this summer. In the meantime , since I’ve found this site , I check in everyday and makes me feel theres someone out there ! So thank you Tamara.
Thanks for commenting with us Faye!
Totally agree with you. I want to go back to the time when all the girls were friends and lived in beautiful homes and summer homes and wore beautiful clothes. Little spats are fine but all this drama is not fun.
I’m gonna take my time and read comments and prob re comment later – but gotta say – Leah is too much for me! In a bad bad way. It’s like fighting with a 4 ur old – I’ve done this when I was 18 babysitter – the parents got mad bc I wouldn’t give into the 4yr old saying OP spells ocean pacific. “No, it is an abbreviation for Ocean Pacific”. On and on….this feels like Leah
Can we just have Sonja on the show? She can be fabulous, have parties, and date. I would watch that! I have been trying to watch this season but can’t anymore. Thanks for taking one for the team and recapping for us!
Yes! After her recent stay with Josh Flagg, I would watch Sonja as the houseguest that will not leave!
As much as I can’t stand Leah, I’m feeling sorry for her this morning. I just recently dealt with my bipolar brother having a severe manic episode that lasted almost 3 weeks. (We finally figured out he was actually dreaming about taking his medication with a hospital visit and pill counting.) But I can say, from my own terrifying experience, Leah is 100% manic and somebody needs to step in. I actually couldn’t finish watching this episode. Thanks for the recap, TT!
I see Leah as seriously personality-disordered, not manic. Mania doesn’t just come and go like that, e.g., when you hear something that makes you mad.
I’m honestly not surprised by this review or the comments. It’s apparent who your audience is. Eboni didn’t throw her education in anyone’s face. Luanne stated she believed that education influences how Leah acts and the words she chooses. Eboni sated she has more education than all of them (Eboni uses same vulgar words as Leah and has an education, so she was refuting Lu’s point). Also, heather brought up working with diddy and Beyoncé. While both black and I’m sure have had their fair share of struggles, that is not the everyday black experience. Diddy doesn’t even pay his black artists. You can’t expect a black woman to be a part of an all white cast and not express racial inequalities . Now while the casting prob wasn’t genuine, Eboni is and this was filmed right after George Floyd stuff. I’m sure Eboni feels as if it’s her duty to use her platform. Sorry that you all want to live in a bubble. Frankly, Real Housewives hasn’t been all about shopping and trips in a while. But I’m proud of Eboni as a black woman for speaking her truth. These recaps just get a little more miserable each wk. this used to be a fun site, but it doesn’t seem that way anymore. Anyway, I think a lot of commenters would do good by listening instead of just bashing because majority of you all haven’t had to deal with racial inequalities, micro aggressions, etc.
Oh! And Eboni doesn’t have to suck up to anyone. Especially Sonja. She’s actually breathing positivity into Sonja and building up her self esteem. You know, when you have low points, your friends are there to make you feel good about yourself. Something the commenters on here do for you daily, so you should recognize the uplifting… is that sucking up? If you want to dislike Eboni, just say that, not nitpick her entire existence.
Thank you for spelling it out.. I’m white and don’t pretend to know anything about the black experience but I do listen and try and absorb and adjust to what is being said by those who live it every day. I’d also like to add the point that Eboni made about Leah going off on a tantrum and nobody said, oh there’s one angry woman but you have a black woman get upset and very clearly and without screaming attempt to say why and boy, she’s an angry angry woman. I agree that she shouldn’t have said that Luanne specifically said ‘angry black woman’ when explaining what occurred to Leah but you know what, when i get upset, i say things that aren’t exactly what was said but rather what was implied…. I don’t think Luanne is a racist i just don’t think she has any concept of what it is like to be marginalized….
And yes although Heather was really trying to listen and help, for her to say that she was impressed by how articulate Eboni was was indeed a microaggression; one that i dont think again she meant any harm but my gosh well of course she’s articulate, she’s a freaking lawyer and has been a commentator on news shows- she better be articulate! the unspoken meaning behind it comes across as surprise that a black woman could be articulate. If she had said, “man, you let her have it and in such a cool ass way; i dont think i could have held my cool like you did” or some such it would have been different but the way she said it was almost like patting her on the head and saying oh, aren’t you just such a smart little black girl..
I’m going to watch this episode again, but I don’t think Heather said she was “surprised” by how articulate Eboni is; I believe she said she was “impressed”. Had she said “surprised”, I would certainly call that a microaggression. But I’ll listen again in case she said “surprised”, because at this point, I think most people would know that’s shitty.
For me, when a person (any person) is extremely articulate, I view that as an impressive gift (regardless of race). Very few people truly have that gift- and, if it came up in conversation, I would certainly give that person a compliment. Same with any impressive gift- gift
I’ve always believed that it is important to listen with the heart, not just the ears, learn and try to understand people’s feelings in the context of the culture they are part of (or anything else they’ve gone through). I guess what I’m starting to feel now (and I never used to feel this way), is that it’s becoming difficult to know in certain circumstances, when something is said that is a true compliment (from the heart- nothing shady), whether a person of color will take offense.
Honestly, is no compliment, no matter how sincerely given, received in the spirit in which it was intended anymore? We can all hear “shade” (usually). Shade would be saying “so surprised”, or maybe even saying someone is “impressed”, but with a shitty, superior look on their face. It’s all about reading the room. Even if certain things are said with sincerity, I’m starting to fear that I’ll say something wrong. Does “intent” and “context” not matter anymore?
In the words of one of my favorite people on tv- when can a thing just be a thing?
Thanks Sis. I did a mini-dissertation about these same issues last week and it was cathartic, but these women don’t GAF. Honestly, many of them wouldn’t care if there was NEVER a Black woman on the White Housewives show and if there IS one, they don’t want to HEAR about anything unpleasant. They probably want the Black woman to STFU and just be happy her Black A## got to be on the show. However, what is going on in America right now with a full out assault on Black men, voter rights and a hostile but growing white supremacy movement is UNPLEASANT at best and I’m glad that Eboni doesn’t mind sharing her feelings about it.
Actually, I think Ebonis’s message would have come across better without Leahs histronics and Heather trying to “help” and butt in. Those 2 should have just shut up. Heather was ridiculous with her examples and telling her she was articulate. What was she expecting ? .
Omg eye roll Heather. She’s so condescending and sanctimonious. Why wasn’t she telling the other women to stand down when Eboni was trying to get her point across?. For someone who pretends to be so woke she missed a huge opportunity.
I don’t GAF. Eboni will be co-hosting The View. She’s smart AND articulate. Oops. Did I insult?
Exactly! Because if they hear about it, it will force them to look at their own behavior. So they’d rather pretend the inequality doesn’t exist and stay in their bubble
I don’t believe Lu talked about Leah’s education. She was explaining to Eboni that Ramona’s religious upbringing is why she doesn’t like hearing Leah talk so rude, crude and socially unacceptable.
Truer words have never been spoken. Thank you for this 🙏🏽
💯 Agree with you NOPE!!! I am a white woman and think it’s better to sit back and absorb and try to learn a different perspective!
Stop being so judgmental. You don’t know me or my background. I don’t need the education thank you very much. I grew up in diversity way back in the day; late 60’s to early 80’s in a town where we all went to school and worked together. I don’t appreciate Bravo trying to educate me through drunken brawls and cat fights with bi-polar, arrogant single women who aren’t even wives or mothers. It’s forced. How is Eboni even on the show? No kids and never married.
Eboni isn’t the first RH who never married and never had kids, practically every RH city has had at least one “wife” with that same distinction. I can’t think of any off the top of my head, but this was brought up before – I thought the same thing years ago until someone pointed this out and gave examples.
Girl in that franchise alone, there was Bethenny and tjnsley. That commenter just mad a black lady is on show
Oooo you’re so angry lol bethenny had no kids and wasn’t married when she started. Same with Tinsley. Same with Carole. Only difference is… Eboni is… well , you can figure out the rest. I know what your real issue is
Thank you for expressing so clearly where the discussion btwn Luanne and Eboni went off the rails. I couldn’t muster enough energy or clear-headedness since last week’s episode to post about it, but It’s been annoyingly bandied about that Eboni randomly brought up being the “most educated” just to brag about her education or as if she said it as proof she’s right and superior.
She was trying to say that she and Leah are both comfortable with the crude language and respects that other people aren’t. Luanne brought up that she and Ramona were less comfortable because they had a conservative, religious upbringing. When Eboni referred back to that comment, Luanne said no, it’s about education. Eboni tried to make the point that she feels it isn’t about education because her despite her technically having the most education, she doesn’t mind and is comfortable with the crude language. Unfortunately, saying “most educated” was like waving a red flag in front of Luann, who had her never-too-dormant-haughtiness triggered and characterized it as Eboni saying LUANN is UNeducated. Shades of “it-was-an-analogy-gate”, also annoying,.
It was unfortunate that Eboni told Leah that Luann called her an “angry black woman”, which wasn’t accurate.. I think she subsequently sort of clarified the issue related to the use of the adjective “angry” directed *towards* a black woman, but the original statement to Leah didn’t look good.
Yes! All true! Very unfortunate Eboni said angry black woman to Leah, but she def then restated it
NOPE…Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! Just as I was about to move on from the negativity I read your post. Finally, someone saw the same thing I did.
Well your name says NOLA and I’m from there! Lol. Smart cookies we are! Lol
I started The Housewives franchise with NY, and loved it. It has always been my favorite even through the many cast changes. Till now. I detest Leah. She is pure trash. And I don’t care for Eboni much either. Keep the race talk straight forward. She was angry and she is black. No one called her an “angry black woman”. As an attorney, she should stick to the facts.
Thanks Tamara first of all for your recaps, I always enjoy reading them. I post from time to time and this is one of those times. I am a black woman and for me personally, if someone of another race says “girl you are angry” doesn’t trigger anything with me, I may say NAW, IM NOT ANGRY. IM MAD, THERE’S A DIFFERENCE “, laugh and keep it moving. Eboni was angry, Luann was angry, Ramona was angry and Leah is just an attention seeker! Why does every scene with her have to be over the top! I think Heather in her own way tried to explain both sides of the “angry” coin to all the women and I think Eboni was very dismissive to her. I feel they all have been walking on eggshells to not offend Eboni but she’s made different references to the “white race”, every episode, ENOUGH! But then she goes and throws Heather under the bus telling “SCREAMING MIMI LEAH” what Heather said about her not wanting to vote, which Eboni herself should have said something to her as well. I think everyone is over race gate with all these shows, it’s an every day occurence, they are making it seem so difficult, they have to use the “words that are trending” in their conversations. I look at Kari with Married to Medicine she holds her own with the almost all black cast, in fact I like her a lot better than some of the women who are the regular cast. Just do something with this “train wreck called Leah!
Yes! Sometimes angry simply means angry.
And telling someone you’re articulate is simply a compliment. Never liked Heather, but I feel bad for her. A literal minefield would have been easier to maneuver.
Same. I never really liked Heather either but I feel terrible for how everyone is treating her. It’s straight out of mean girls and no one is backing her up. I’d have left too.
I re read your comment again. You perfectly sum up how I’m feeling. I’m over race gate on these shows. I am white. I hate what has and does go on in our country. What happened to George Floyd sickens me. I can’t stand to look at a picture of Chauvin. I am sick of people I know arguing, spewing ignorance . I’ve heard shit from family that both angers & embarrasses me such as for example, saying Michael Brown wouldn’t have been killed if he wasn’t stealing from the store. No bitch, he was just a kid, got shot 6 times, one was a kill shot to the head. OVER F’n PETTY THEFT??? NOOOOO! It’s wrong! The ends (death, murder) do not justify damn misdemeanor crimes. I’ve argued with people over this and it sickens me the ignorance, the lack of empathy or concern. That being said, when I watch Bravo, I want to see women and honestly I love the men in 2 franchises) having fun. A little bickering is fine, but go shop, travel, let me see inside your homes, your marriage, your closets. Let me see how fabulous you live, and I don’t give 2 Ramona Singer shits what color you are, or what ethnicity you are.
I liked Tiffany on RHOD, but the shit coming out about the sexual misconduct w/her in-laws (and frankly sounds like her husband is present at that golf course where things are happening) makes me sick. I like Garcelle at times on RHOBH and other times I don’t, but hell I feel that way about other cast members…I’ve loved some, then end up thinking what a cunt, but it has NOTHING to do with skin color. A comment above is just not true (for me at least). I don’t care, I just don’t give a damn what color, or who they fuck. I don’t care if someone is gay, but I don’t personally like Braunwyn. She’s too damn thirsty, comes up w/too many storylines, but I don’t want people accusing me of not wanting anyone who is LGBTQ either. Sometimes you just F’n don’t like people. To me, it would be worse if I felt like I had to like someone because of their race, their ethnicity, their sexual preference, etc. I don’t think the message should be we can bitch about Leah, bitch about Ramona and her horrible treatment of people every time they travel or have someone cater a dinner, bitch about Lu when she acts entitled because she should have the best room because she just got married or she should have the best room she just got divorced, or her Countess schtick, but we can’t bitch about Eboni??? (according to some comments)
“Race gate” is a great synopsis of what’s happening now on the shows. That we want to go to for entertainment (I used to call them “junk food for the mind”). The HW shows used to be my “comfort food” at the end of a long day. Now, they’ve been turned into modern day “morality plays” (last popular in the 15th and 16th centuries, lol). I get that these topics are so important now, but we all (of all races) sometimes need an escape, cuz we’re human…
Mine too Kat! I watch these shows after a long hard day and want to unwind. I need the escape from my life.
Thanks for the recap, TT. I hope you are awarding yourself combat pay for having to watch this mess AND write about it! Ugh!
RHONY has become unwatchable. It’s not fun or entertaining. I also do not want any of my teenaged children to wander in while I’m watching, and get the idea that this is how grown adults behave! My kids have most certainly NEVER seen/heard any social interactions like that in our home!
Bravo better think about who their audience is. I’d like to think we are culturally sensitive folks who don’t want to see anyone treated badly, of course, but we’d also just like to see plain old fun and entertaining content! Why is that so difficult?? Does Bravo really think fans are going to tune in to watch THAT??
I look forward to seeing RH because I want to laugh and poke fun. This season of NY is just not enjoyable.
I think watching Leah lose it is so uncomfortable. Her behavior seems like she is sick. Worried about her really.
Eboni is finding her way, but her sensitivity is never going to be understood by these people. The fact that they listen and try is a huge move in the right direction though. I’m just not entertained by confronting racism and bigotry.
Now I have to relive the election? No thanks.
What happened to fun?
I feel like RHONY suffers from the Tupperware party syndrome…..a roomful of strangers who were equally guilted into a crappy evening by the host whom they tangentially know—the woman you knew 10 years ago from the pta, the wife of some guy you work with or the older lady you know from church. No one actually even knows one another unless you could beg your own friend to come with…
If you’re of a certain age and have been to this party, you know it’s a roomful of people whom would never connect with the other because there is no common bond other than burpable bowls. The odds you will see any of these people ever again are minuscule—-you don’t run in the same circles, you don’t really know anything about them and most likely, you don’t care to and just want the order form so you can get the hell out of there.
That’s what is happening. Ramona, Sonja and luann have a natural and organic friendship and it shows.
I don’t care how much money Leah does or doesn’t have, she would just never associate with them in the wild at the hamptons with Harry dubin. They can be cordial to her, but it’s absurd to invite her on a trip or a sleepover.
Same with eboni. Both ladies are just so much younger—more leah, who has the EQ of a flea. They at a completely different stage of life. I thought eboni was originally a good fit until her agenda became clear.
The fact is, the older three are not, and will never be “woke” enough for either of them. I think it’s a shame they constantly have to censor themselves to be politically correct. They are a lot of things and certainly could be called ignorant by today’s standards but it doesn’t make them racist or homophobic or xenophobic or whatever else thing we are doing this week. The bar keeps moving and quite frankly it’s a bit hard to keep up for some of us. It doesn’t mean we are bad people. It just means we are old. Words in our vernacular that we were once told to use are now offensive and vice versa. Maybe we should just be concerned with just being kind rather than articulate the wrong thing. ( for those like me who didn’t know, articulate is now a micro aggression instead of a complement)
Heather might have been able to bridge it but it’s clear that’s not happening.
Now pass the canapés while I refill my tupperware tumbler please!
We should have an open forum contest to see who has the most pieces of Tupperware in their home.
I still have my 1970’s Tupperware Harvest cereal bowls set—deep dark rusty red, dark orange, regular orange, and egg yolk yellow. Probably full of PCBs 😵💫
I have an original devilled egg carrier!
I love the Tupperware comparison!!! Perfect!!!
What do you think would happen if Bethenny came back into this group?
I wish she would. I’d rather watch Bethenny cry than watch Leah do anything.
I think she knows going back would hurt her brand and to stay the hell away!!!
She would piss off Eboni by saying something stupid like her dogs are named biggie and smalls
Yeah, Bethenny couldn’t risk being on the show with Eboni. Something really dodgy would come out of her mouth sooner or later.
I initially liked sober Leah. Now Leah is just exhausting. Leah behaves like a three year old having a tantrum.
Leah has ruined this franchise trying to be woke.
Bravo dropping random women of color in already established shows isn’t working.
Amen JoJo! I made a similar comment about this last week. Bravo is being lazy. If they really want diversity they will need to build a new show with an existing diverse group of girlfriends. I say this as a black woman with a diverse group of girlfriends. It does not take all of the work and preaching that this show is portraying.
This is exhausting and I don’t think I can watch the rest of the season
“Oh Joy! It’s time for another RHONY Recap where I will report on all the screaming and arguing and preaching and finger-pointing and canceling the New York women do. Then, we will all scream and argue and preach and point fingers and cancel each other in the comment section. So, yay?” When you’re on, you are ON! 😂 😂 😂
It happens every week. Also long as I recap this season, I’m going to get a small percentage of people calling me racist. I miss the Tiffany and Dorinda drama at this point.
I’m sure this happened with other housewife second seasons long before this but with Leah this year – just like with Braunwyn in the OC – an initially intriguing newbie’s 2nd season ego explosion has eaten the show.
Round 2 begins tonight with BH🤣
First I want to say THANK YOU TT for your amazing recaps. My grandmother has been on the decline for the past few months and passed away Memorial Day, so I haven’t been able to watch the recent episodes. I tried to watch an episode 2 weeks ago, but Leah’s behavior…..then blaming it on her Grandmother not being well. I couldn’t deal with it. However, I love reading TT’s recaps/comments and everyone else’s thoughts on each episode.
So sorry to hear about your grandmother’s passing Michelle. That’s a lot to deal with during normal times let alone during a pandemic.
Thank you. She was a great lady. And I would never use her as a way to get attention. Or as an excuse for bad behavior. Why I just can’t watch Leah these past few episodes
The race baiting on these shows is becoming just too much.
I feel like I’m watching the movie “Quiz Show” where the public is mislead into thinking what’s on TV is true.
I liked Leah last season. But she acts manipulative this season, and she lost me with all the fake storylines. It’s too many things: she’s converting to Judaism, probably to trick some rich Jewish guy into taking care of her financially, there are the multiple plastic surgeries, her new apartment, she’s not voting (did she check with BFF Tinsley?) She’s like Brawnwyn from OC. It’s just too much.
Also, Ebony did not embellish. She flat out lied about what Luann said.
Thank you Tamara. I appreciate you recapping a show that you’re just not into.
Watching this show is like going to the dentist. It sucks
I like Ebony and don’t understand her friendship with Leah. Leah is extra and loud and brash and ridiculous. Every scene she’s in screams insincerity. Leah accuses Heather of exactly what she is doing. It’s gaslighting. What I don’t get is why it’s perfectly fine to refer to white women as trash. That, to me, is far worse than calling someone angry but when someone referred to one of the ladies as trash, that gets ignored and accepted as A-Ok.
I’d be walking on eggshells if I was in this cast. Everything is being picked apart and blown out of proportion for drama. Lots of round tables where everyone is apologizing for being who they are (not saying people don’t need to be called out, but it’s not like these ladies haven’t been exactly who they are for the duration of their time on this show.) Suddenly everything that’s said is wrong and needs to be addressed, except for LEAH, who is beyond reproach because she’s decided to sidle up to Ebony from the get go. It feels forced and phony.
I see how it might seem like people are going on and on about race all the time, but people are just starting to speak on it more and some have experienced these issues CONSTANTLY. Also… I mean their ancestors were literally slaves that people classed as cattle, and who have been held down for generations. Imma let you speak on what you need to speak on, and listen. What harm is it doing to anyone? Making a few secret racist people uncomfortable? Straight white folks bang on about their bloody problems ALL THE TIME. Just saying. Lol!
Also I can see how annoying it is being in the presence of a self righteous Karen like Heather, jumping down your throat with some ethical morality bullshit opinion every time you open your mouth, even to say something that’s just venting.
That said Leah is an asshole who behaves like a child. Could do better.
Mark, I got schooled by a black women on my white fragility. She was correct, and I didn’t know I was doing it. It’s so ingrained.
Having Eboni speak about it doesn’t bother me. The fact that she has to say it at all is bothersome.
I don’t understand her and Leah either.
I am just having an idea. If viewers really want a cast that is authentic and real, maybe we should want a cast in a city where there are women activists. I personally would really like that. Sorry, this is a Real Housewives thread. Bravo would never do that. And I’m pretty sure there are other shows and documentaries that highlight this.
I think 90% of Bravo’s content has run its course and then some, especially ALL the Housewives shows and VPR. I quit watching them 2 seasons ago – I just couldn’t anymore because I just wanted more lightness in my life, not all this fake drama and screaming at each other.
I would be interested to see what would happen if everyone commenting started stating I am so tired of women playing the #metoo card. Because unless you’ve lived it I think it’s pretty damn ridiculous and ignorant to spout off comments about being tired of the race card. No one could even talk about stuff like this five years ago! Come on people!!! Just listen empathy and learn!!
Salbee- I feel like most (although not all) of the people commenting about this are not saying that these issues are not important or shouldn’t be discussed or presented.
I think most people feel like they’re being presented in an over-produced, inauthentic way, and, for many people, when they watch a HW show, it’s for pure “trash tv”. For me, as I said earlier, it’s like eating a bowl of ice cream or some other kind of comfort food at the end of a long, hard day. Or at least it used to be.
Discussions about race, sexual harassment, and a plethora of the rest of the “world’s ills” happen constantly now in our lives. And, I think most would be open to it if the themes were presented in a way that wasn’t produced and fake. There are SO many great quality shows that handle this issue beautifully (and I watch them obsessively and love them). But I watch HW shows for pure entertainment, not to have screeching, drunk, fighting women trying to force these themes down our throats in a fake, producer-driven way. We don’t have to “learn” something from every damn thing we watch- certainly not HW shows.
So instead of judging and name calling the other people commenting on this thread (“ridiculous” and “ignorant” are your words), maybe read the actual words that are being said and the context in which they are written.
Not everything is a 15th century morality play, and if that’s what you are watching HW shows for (especially if #metoo is an issue you care about), that’s pretty ironic.
What I found ironic is your comment regarding housewives screeching, drunk and fighting. This has been filmed and celebrated by Bravo since season 1. I have read every word and the context in which they are written and this was my interpretation. I appreciated your words in the first paragraph but you lost me after that.
Are you saying that the housewives are not screeching, drunk and fighting? I think that’s a pretty accurate statement. What exactly about statement do you find “ironic”?
Your exact words above are: “What I found ironic is your comment regarding housewives screeching, drunk and fighting.”
What exactly do you find “ironic” about that statement?
Hey Kat- my comment was posted up top, traveling and must have hit the wrong button. I misread your comment re: ironic in my weary jet lag. my bad.
All good, Salbee. Thanks so much for clarifying. 😊
The first paragraph you wrote TT is golden! 😂🙌🏻 And Leah was literally fake crying, that suddenly stops all of a sudden. I had to check here to just check myself to see if I was the only one thinking Leah is just policing and judging. I mean if so worried and upset with your loved one literally dying, I would not be filming a show. Id be with my loved one. I love this site! Ty for what you do!
Thanks for commenting with us! xo ~tt
