By Guest Recapper Nanette
The hot topic of this week’s Married To Medicine recap is the C-word. Not Next Tuesday, the other C-word: Cheating. The apropos Quote o’ Night is from Lisa Nicole Cloud: “There are a lot of husbands who weren’t perfect in their marriages.” Before the cocktails make it to the table, Heavenly starts the shit-stirring by announcing she may order “devilish” eggs, with a devilish look to match. Toya tells Anila not to take the bait. So Heavenly comes for Anila, calling her Toya’s Muppet. Anila asks if Heavenly wants to be Miss Piggy. Score for Anila! Heavenly says she was just joking and apologizes. (We know that’s fake because in a later interview, she says Anila does Toya’s bidding and she looks funny, like a muppet.) Potomac’s Real Housewives Gizelle Bryant and Robyn Dixon join our ladies. Gizelle looks beautiful and Robyn is … under a heap of golden braids.
After Contessa tells Gizelle that her “husband” Pastor Jamal Bryant “touched her soul” at the march, we come around to husbands, past and future. Contessa feels her husband, Dr. Scott, is going through a midlife crisis. Gizelle asks point-blank if she thinks he is cheating. Contessa says she doesn’t know, but she prays he’s not. Let’s take stock … Robyn and Gizelle divorced their husbands because of infidelities. Jackie and Curtis nearly split because of his extramarital incident. Simone filed for divorce over Cecil’s platonic “emotional cheating.” The peccadillos of Lisa’s husband, Darren, including gay rumors, led to a near-split. Former regular Quad divorced Dr. Gregory after social media exposed his motel tryst. Even happily married Heavenly hasn’t been unscathed by cheating (rumors). She, and the rest of the cast and husbands, defended Dr. Damon after former Queen Bee Mariah Huq, claimed to “have receipts” (unseen) of his cheating.
Doctor Daddy Discloses Dangerous Dust-Up
Anila and Dr. Kiran’s marriage seems fine, but Bravo has dropped breadcrumbs about possible future problems. When Contessa says Scott isn’t as sweet as usual, Toya over shares about her sex life. She wants Scott to talk to Dr. Eugene. She discloses that Eugene had low testosterone. After hormone treatments, he can’t get enough sex. Funny how what Contessa describes as an emotional chasm, Toya reduces to sex. After days of togetherness, the cast is ready to get home. And Toya and Anila are ready for their “childs” to return to live school. Driving home after dropping off their kids, Toya seizes the opportunity to remind Anila to pay the makeup artists. They worked on Anila as a favor to Toya. She implies that Anila isn’t being honest with Kiran about the money she is spending. Toya wonders just how much money Anila’s blogging is bringing in versus going out.
Heavenly has “prepared,” aka plated, a takeout meal for the family. Damon shares details of the D.C. march trip with their three kids. He is proud of the covid testing and was thrilled to see many white hands raised in fists among the Black fists. He uses this opportunity to tell his kids about a youthful misadventure. After knocking down a sign at a boardwalk, a tussle with a security cop led to real cops being called. One held a gun to Damon’s head and asked him what he was going to do. The kids are appalled that their father came that close to death. That is no exaggeration, as recent events have proven. The parents warn the kids about the inequitable consequences of their actions. One mistake can lead to losing the opportunity to vote or attend medical school. Or cost a young Black man his life.
Alcohol, And Apple, And Android, Oh My
Jackie has invited Simone and Heavenly to dinner. She warns Heavenly that Quad is coming. Heavenly and Quad fell out after a major emoji incident (I feel weird just typing those two words!). Heavenly is bringing Anila, under the pretense of trying to get to know her without Toya’s presence. Jackie hopes that the bonding over the seriousness of the pandemic and the BLM movement will have given the ladies perspective on their petty feuds. Jackie proudly shows off the $425K home remodel (note that Bravo’s faulty math puts it at $325K). Part of Curtis’ “restitution” for his cheating was to let Jackie, who does not cook, take over the $151K kitchen remodel. The $125K closet is all hers; Curtis can keep his stuff downstairs. These M2M Queen of the Castle attitudes offend me. But, as Heavenly points out, it literally is the “House That Jack(ie’s money) Built.”
At the table, Jackie concedes that much of the reason for her estrangement from Simone was her stubbornness. She uses Anila’s newcomer status to inform us that Quad and Heavenly were “thick as thieves,” and “gangster tight,” until an Instagram imbroglio occurred. Quad posted an image featuring her curvy butt. Heavenly responded with some emojis that insulted Quad. Quad apologizes and takes responsibility for the fallout. Her claims that emojis look different on Android phones vs. iPhones is false. I know because I just sent the emojis from The Fiancee’s Android to my iPhone and back. They look the same. Quad sounds very sincere, but that is not good enough for Heavenly. She does not like Quad’s tone. The others look like they agree with me. Heavenly escalates, calling Quad a bitch and jumping around. Finally, the two hug it out and all is good in Heavenly’s World. For now.
Next week: Contessa’s symptoms lead to Covid testing; the gang deals with isolating in quarantine; the ladies attend a sex-toy party; Toya confronts Anila about not paying the makeup artists (again), then says Anila sounds crazy. Not shown: The cable preview blurb says “Jackie surprises the ladies with a porn star.” PLEASE do not be Bolo!
