I am so far behind with posts and recaps! I guess I will start with a MAFS recap because it is the couples retreat just before decision week and these episodes are always super dramatic. Sometimes I think I’m the only one who is into this show. But, I find it super interestings. Not so sure how this recap will go as i have a pounding stress headache so I’ll probably be a bit off my game today.
Haley & Jacob
I cannot stand Haley and her horrible attitude regarding the bracelet. We start with her smart ass returning the bracelet to Jacob. Who acts like this? Clearly, Jacob feels personally rejected. These two will not even make the five hour drive together. Jacob is the first to arrive. The house is beautiful. Haley is pissed because Jacob made himself some eggs. She is always pissed about something. She is clearly going to whine about Jacob the entire trip. Good GRIEF! She just will not shut up. She’s awful. Haley thinks she has learned a lot about herself. I am missing it. Jacob says that this has been one long bad date. During the “know your spouse” game, Haley and Jacob do surprisingly well. They actually won!

Haley and Jacob’s date has them on a boat going crabbing. They are catching a TON of crabs and seem to get along during the outing. But we really didn’t see much of their date. They all have an exercise where they speak highly about each other. These two both had an amazing amount of positive things to say about the other. Haley talks negatively about Jacob with the girls. She did think the letters were helpful and they made a bit of forward progress. The guys try to boil the crabs for dinner with hilarious results. Haley and Jacob bond a bit over the crab boil. Jacob is the first to get up and leave the house. He don’t give any goodbyes. Haley seems pissed about this. They didn’t come together so who cares?
Briana & Vincent
Why does Vincent suddenly sound like he is not sure he is all in on this marriage? At the beach house, Briana says she has learned a lot about herself. Vincent is worried about a planned horseback ride the next day. Briana is disappointed. It’s time for these two to go horseback riding. Vincent is giving it a try but he is nervous. He decides not to do it. Then the instructor manages to talk him into it. It’s a beautiful ride. But Vincent was terrified the whole time. He told her he wants to be in on the planning of future endeavors. He doesn’t like surprises. Briana seems pissed that he is not as adventurous as he is.

Briana tells the other girls about the horse riding experience. I wish the girls were providing more feedback. I think Briana needs to stop being so bossy and insisting that Vincent always be the one to push his limits. Even though she seems to haves good intentions, I think she is pushing him to hard. At dinner, Vincent announces that Briana is moving in to his apartment. She is not excited about that. She doesn’t seem like she is all in on this marriage. The next morning they still can’t agree about where they will live.
Virginia & Erik
Virginia is another horrible choice for this show. It seems like the husbands are all good. And the wives are problematic. Virginia is picking at him already on the car ride to Hilton Head. Virginia has learned that you can love someone and not like them all the time. Erik learned a lot about patience. He’s still frustrated with Virginia and her immaturity. I don’t know how old she is. But she is not emotionally mature enough to be married. Virginia complains about her marriage with the girls. But, she says they both love each other. And they fight a lot. She is unreasonable.

These two have a picnic on the beach. They talk about decision day. She seems to think that decision day is going to go the way she is hoping. She seems very nonchalant about the whole thing. Erik says that sometimes she acts like she doesn’t care at all. He thinks she might run. Apparently, this is a three hour episode! Virginia tells the girls that she has hope for her marriage. But, then at dinner she says she is not moving in with Erik right away. Erik is not happy with the situation. Virginia wants him to rent out his house. This is a huge issue. I hope Erik asks for a divorce on decision day. She is clueless about how marriages work. Here is a clue. You live together. She thinks her cats need to sleep in the bed even though he is allergic.
Clara & Ryan
It seems Clara had to work so these two won’t be there until the next day. When they arrive, Clara does a lot of defending with regard to her marriage. For their date, these two go paddle boarding. This never seems fun to me. They manage to get through it without falling in. They seemed to enjoy it. Clara is fully expecting Ryan to admit he loves her on decision day. I do not see that happening.

Clara cries when Ryan reads her his love letter that was assigned by the “experts.” I’m not sure why other than she was hoping for an I Love You. She cries through reading her whole letter. She is clearly in love with him. In her letter, she says she can’t wait to say yes on decision day. They kiss. It was really sweet. Clara says that Ryan is everything she wants in a man. But, she needs him to open up about his feelings. Ryan is just so cute. I really want this marriage to work. But no one knows what is going on in his head.
Oh, I woke up in the middle of the night, to this ridiculous Unmatchable spinoff. It’s ridiculous. They tacked it on to the end of my MAFS recording.
Thanks for recapping this show; I watch it each week and look forward to your updates.
I am very curious why they are showing on decision day Chris and Paige looking like they may stay together! I hope its just editing and she tells him she isn’t staying!!!
At this point I think it is editing.
I do think Bri and Vincent are all in for marriage, but they both have issues that they’re not compromising on. Bri is entirely too bossy and Vincent is easily wounded over everything. I don’t how that’s going to be fixed. I don’t know how Clara is in love with Adam, he holds his emotions hostage, and the fact that he’s taking it slow to have sex, he has no problem asking her to give him handsies and blowies. First red flag, among many with him. Usually I’m against Erik, his controlling thing is scary, but Virginia is so immature, I’m an animal lover, but how can you not even consider kicking the cats out of bed for your husband who’s allergic? Allergy pills usually aren’t enough to treat animal dander allergies.
Thanks for the recap. Sometimes I forget when this is on.
I need people to stop painting Vincent’s picture using the single incident at the dance studio he already explained. There are things I will not try and don’t appreciate anyone trying to force me into it. A friend was almost thrown from a horse when we were kids, and I’ve been afraid of them ever since. I’m also not into dangerous excitement. Just because Briana wants to try something, doesn’t mean Vincent has to. Briana is not only bossy, but she gives off entitled techie vibes. Her comment about living in a one bedroom apartment doesn’t bode well for this relationship. She makes more than he does and wants to spend every penny, AND have him spend money forever courting her.
Virginia is smitten with Erik, but not nearly as in love as she thinks. They don’t see eye to eye on some very basic issues, with Erik being extremely conservative. I don’t see this relationship working. Clara pegged them well in her talking head moment.
I really need Ryan to tell Clara why he’s holding back ON CAMERA. Sit down and just explain that he has issues with Clara religiously and with her future planning. They’ll either work it out, or go their separate ways, but at this point they’re just friends.
Haley…is very unselfaware and the other ladies aren’t helping her to see that. She’s just really unkind to Jake and seems completely unaware of it. I suspect there was more to their discussion besides what we saw the night before he left. Hopefully he’ll say next week.
Honestly, I’m not sure any of these couples will make it long term, though I think Briana/Vincent and Clara/Ryan will likely say yes on Decision Day. Here’s hoping Erik saves Virginia from herself and says no.
Ok, with this stupid show. First of all, I actually watched this week, paid attention and and noticed a few things. Yes Haley is still a clueless witch and I’m tired of her saying dont give a gift if ask for it back. When did he ask for it!! He just wanted to see her wearing it. Ok my pet peeve with Bri, why on earth does she have to chime in with advice for the other couples like Jake and haley aren’t trying, worry about your 1br house planning! Clara, Clara, Clara YES you have lost yourself, you are not who you were, you are trying so hard and hes just not. Oh my cats sleep on me Virginia, my God Erik stop this we will make it work or die trying attitude. Seriously he is the captain to go down with the ship with cats sleeping all over him and his puffy eyes. I know she’s testing him to see how far she can push and so far she knows she has the upper had and is working him. Shes immature yes, but she knows what shes doing. Not looking foward to the 2hr recap with the night before decision day. Oh an btw I did catch the end of that undateables that my DVR recorded, they stayed in touch and went on another date, wait how is that a success!!! No wonder why they keep mismatching couples!
I loved Jake’s comment ‘This has been like one long bad date’. He has a hysterical sense of humor. It is lost on Haley because she is so shallow and clearly has not gone very deep in the self-reflection category. She’s a judgmental mean girl with that nasty high school attitude. I agree with you. Not sure what she learned about herself at all during this experience. She clearly deflects her own issues to rip Jake to shreds. I think she would bring out the worst in any guy she is with…imo.
From most annoying to least: Haley and Jacob. I don’t why they have not quit the show yet. Why are they even at the couples retreat? Jacob said it all when he summed up their experience as one long, bad, first date. It did not make any difference that their exercise went well or the crabbing experience (although Haley seemed to flirting or talking more with the guide). In between they obviously dislike one another as partners and made no attempt to be romantic towards one another. I loved it when Virginia told Haley not to mimic or make fun of one of Jacob’s comments at the dinner table. I am sick of the bracelet argument. If it were me, I would have opened it up before the ceremony and worn it down the aisle. She acts as though she was too nervous to deal with it at the time. If she even liked Jacob she would have apologized and said she would have her mom send it to her so she could start wearing it. Her being defensive about it just shows she’s not attracted to him. Even though they drove separately, it did seem rude that Jacob left in the middle of the night without saying goodbye to her or the group.
Virginia and Erik. Maybe he can be annoying and rigid, but she can act like a baby. She should have been cast on Unmatchable. She is chronologically and mentally too young for him. What a baby she was whining in bed about how her cats WILL sleep in her body crevices and how could he dare ask her to keep the cats out of the bedroom. She’s not as in love with him as she is her animals which shows she doesn’t have enough desire to make this relationship work. I can’t imagine a bed full of cat hair for a man with cat allergies. He owns his condo. If it were me I think it would be reasonable to move into his place. Again, I can’t believe in the vetting process they don’t ask them about their tolerance for animals and if they have any pet allergies. That could be a deal breaker.
Clara and Ryan. They want it to work. I’m not sure that it will. He just doesn’t seem that into her. They don’t seem to have the same level of sex drive. Clara really wants him to show that he is into her. No matter how much she communicates this to him, he doesn’t seem to get it. He doesn’t make her feel wanted.
Brianna and Vincent. He wants to take care of her. She wants to boss him. They probably will have to continue to work towards a lasting relationship. Again though, how was their desire, timeline, and ability to have children not vetted before they were matched? This is the biggest deal breaker. Again another couple who want to keep their bachelor/bachelorette pads. If you can’t compromise on living arrangements what hope is there for a marriage?
Good point!! So far we have sex drive, children, religion, living arrangements, allergies in this season, in my opinion pretty huge deal breakers and here we are with the so called experts! I think Jake is over this whole charade and is not about to pretend to get along with anyone anymore, so painful goodbyes maybe next time. Didn’t haley say she hated Jake’s neon, all of a sudden Clara’s neon is everything🙄 and yes she seemed like she was flirting with that guy just to be a c***!
You are not alone TT. I’ve been watching this since season one. It’s like a train wreck….I just can’t look away. This season is pretty much a sh*t show. I like Clara and Adam but wonder if his reluctance to have sex is because he is a virgin. Erik and Virginia are years apart…not in age but maturity. I think the reason he is trying to hang in is because he doesn’t want a second divorce. What can I say about Haley and Jacob? She is awful and decided she wasn’t going to like him early on. She is so nasty to him and I think he’s been very tolerant. Hi also like Bri and Vincent but she is too bossy and he is too sensitive. Hopefully they can push through. I’d really like to see them succeed.
uh….Clara and Ryan.
There are reasons Haley had been single so long. All these years she’s built a wall around herself a mile high to keep emotionally safe. She was not ready to be intimate so soon in the marriage and the vulnerability that came with it scared her more than she expected. She liked the idea of having someone to share her life with, but not the actuality of it. She’s just nit picking at him to justify pushing him away. She should not have been chosen for the experiment at all. Jack deserves someone who appreciates his quirkiness.
My DVR is, thankfully, still catching MAFS Aussie!!! Thanks TT for getting that great show on my radar.
I’m watching because of you, TT! These couples are all kind of a mess! This was especially highlighted when I watched a Couples Cam episode and 3 of the couples from NOLA last season(first season I watched) were on and still together.
I’m sad I missed that episode! I have to reshuffle my DVR every night to try and fit everything in. I haven’t been doing that consistently lately.
I AM DYING over MAFS Australia. It’s the season BEFORE the last one we got in the US and it is SO GOOD. I haven’t been recapping it because I kept getting spoiled looking for photos.
I must have had too much wine watching the episode before this because I could not believe that the whore Jess was on a home visit at her husbands house and was sleeping with him like most things were fine while bidding her time to get back to Ben. Then they MADE OUT IN PRIVATE at the commitment ceremony! I am GOBSMACKED that anyone would be such a BRAZEN HUSSY on national TV? I can’t remember if this show has a Tell All or not. BUT I NEED TO KNOW! But not until the season is over. This show is so much better than the American version. I’m counting the days until Thursday AGAIN!
You know Jess will say yes, so she can hook up with Ben, like that last girl did at the gold coast with Sam. I know the spoilers too, but its so much fun watching them get there, lol!! For the American version…omg check out the perfect curvature that is Ryan’s badonk, no wonder why Clara is frustrated🤣
