I’ve been literally doing the OPPOSITE of our usual Lentil Season. Keep It Moving is the standout Lentiler this year. I on the other hand have not been drinking water or eating food. I’m on the wine/beer/cigarettes diet. I feel like UTTER CRAP and all I want to do is sleep. I haven’t been online in at least a full 24 hours if not more. I never do that and am not caught up on emails yet. I don’t want to eat food at all. I keep making food and not touching it. Then there is the random crying and the waking up having to remind myself which family members are dead. The cheese is sliding off my sandwich, if you know what I mean. Sleep beckons again.

Some HEY! How are y’all doing? Oh and did I mentions hours and hours on the phone with the IRS because I noticed when I oddly posted my last quarterly payment receive on line that money went to SOMEONE ELSE’S SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER!. It’s just been a horrible, no good very bad week over here. So tell me something good!

I’m so sorry, TT. That’s so awful.

I’ve just been pissed about having to refile my taxes to get a refund. I guess I’m one of the lucky ones.

I opened up a bottle of Mendocino (CA) Muscat for tonight. It’s slightly sweet, but it also has this interesting gin-like herbal flavor. One of the best things I did last year was sign up for a monthly wine subscription. I’ve never since had to worry about running out of wine or running to the store to buy some!

OMG the IRS did the same thing with one of my deceased mothers payments! I called and they said write a letter so I did. They never got back to me so I called again, they told me by phone it was handled and it to worry and then two weeks ago I got a letter saying it’s not resolved. May the force be with you on that!

I’m close to having my travel agency live so I’m praying that and my travel blog will generate some income since I have now been laid off over 6 months.

I can do about one thing a day and then just want to sleep. But I did manage to get an appt for a vaccine so I’m praying that means normalcy is around the corner….

What you’re going to find after you’re fully vaccinated I huge weight will slip off your shoulders. I hear it over and over from my friends as they slowly all get their vaccinations. That’s one of the reasons why I encourage people not to procrastinate to get their vaccine shots.

I received mine through the VA about a month ago and I can attest to that personally.

Also Ibuprofen is your friend. Take a couple before the shot and keep it going for a day or so afterwards. I was a bit worn out for the first week after the first shot, and so went into the second Ibuprofenned up. The second wasn’t nearly as bad as the first just the injection site hurt a little for a while.

I lthanked everyone I saw at
IHS who kindly provided vaccines to staff taking care of their elders.

Second dose the same, on time (rarely happens), thanked everyone I could …everyone was so nice and also excited.

Got in my car and broke down in tears.

I got a response from someone in Chandler last week, I waved going to Tucson and coming back today. (Traffic was a nightmare today east of PHX, EESH!)

Anywho, I digressed a bit…by the time I got to my Daughter’s (and grandson Bruce) in Tucson I was a blubbering idiot. There were times last year I thought I may never hold them again. The relief was exactly what I needed.

I stuck to keto the whole week. Lost 3.5 lbs and I’m ready to keep taking on this world!

        Can I get an AMEN,

          Yay, on hugging the grands.

Good for you on keto. We were strict for 1.5 years, fell off a few months ago, going back. You have to put in the work math/macro-wise, but eating wise, easiest diet ever.

Seriously, on what other diet can you say, “Damn, that meal was too lean, I need more fats! Oh, I got it! I’ll just have a slice of (keto) cheesecake!”?

I have good keto recipes, including NY cheesecake. I wish I could get them to you. Monk fruit sugar rocks! Except for the price.

Damn, I wish I could do keto, that’s everything I CAN’T have, I’m so jealous!

Do you know any good liver cleansing recipes? Just diagnosed with a fatty liver so I have to cut out all the good stuff, including alcohol.

I’m okay with the eating healthy and exercising stuff, but would love to have a glass of wine now and then. Once I lose 10% and my levels are normal, I can drink again.

Hoping a cleanse could speed that up a tad, it’s been a week from hell!

I checked in with my MINI in Tucson this past week. ALL of the idiot lights were on because this poor little car got her battery changed (long story short, I can look helpless at times) required open thoracic and abdominal surgery to get a new battery in place…Oct 2020…not a great time for our world. Sucked it up until Thursday. All is right again in my MINI world. Next step for her, she deserves it, racing stripes! Coming soon!

It is interesting because they are re-visiting the conversations and fights they had about race while filming. I really have so much respect for Kevin. He has written 14 books! And he talked about how after the show aired that Tupac contacted him and they became friends.

If you have Paramount + please watch The Real World Homecoming. Becky is awful and I am still fascinated with Kevin. I feel like I am with them in my jammies and bathrobe. Aside from Becky, who is still awful talking about South France. This is the best thing on TV I have seen in awhile.

I’m so sorry you’re having another crappy week. Mine has been too. There were two spaces mice were getting into my house. I found one really quickly but didn’t discover the other one until I’d had 12 mice caught in traps. Thank goodness for my dad who set and emptied the traps and a handyman who filled the gaps. They’re still in the roof but the bait should take care of that. My elderly cat is not pulling her weight. I spent the week feeling jumpy and grotty.

I’ve been waiting to discuss Tinsley and Scott ending their engagement. I’m not all that surprised but I really hoped she would live happily ever after in Chicago, even if just to rub it in the noses of the awful other NYC women.

Oh Tamara, I’m sorry! It bites to feel this way. Plus it’s even worse when we are our own worse enemy and somehow, somewhere, sometimes, know it, feel it. It’s no good when someone says ‘I get it’. Cause who cares!?!? Sometimes it is just one stupid thing after another and enough. Cynicism and empathy is hard to balance—I speak for myself. But whatever is going on in your life, you know in your heart you are respected and appreciated and loved by people you feel the same way about.
I’m glad you have Banjo. I have my rescue Luna. A cat who is skittish and beautiful and can be loving and gun shy. And I love her. She is all things. Like Banjo for you.
I hope you get what I mean.
It’ll be right. I will pray for you because you are a good soul. C’mon—the Good Lord has such a sense of humor! He gets you. You are loved by many. And we want you to be well. Many hugs. I’m not usually effusive in my commenting but tonight…Lentil season, my daughter losing her dog to lung cancer, you feeling this way for such a while, well, I’m worried and wanted to send you some affection & encouragement. You have a good heart. Be all well soon, my dear.

Got my COVID vaccine from my local Kroger. I was signed up through our State Health Dept but there seems to be glitches or understaffing…or whatever and I never heard from them. I was on the Kroger website downloading coupons and saw they are giving appts for the vaccine! Wouldn’t have known otherwise. I signed up online and got an appt no problems. Very relieved!

Hey, Shay- I was with you reading last night but when I drink I can’t write. Was right there with you though.
TT, I’m feeling for you and trying to “radar” you calming and healing vibes. I’ve been reading long enough to see that this happens to you when taxes are due. It’s like the thing that brings out all the worst things for you and all the anxiety, and it happens four times a year. My husband is 10 years older than me and has always done the taxes (and finances), and right now, I’m trying to learn it all, just in case (he’s fine, but it’s always in my head that he’s older, so..) I can only take it in small doses before glazing over, and I know if and when I have to do it, I might feel the way you do- it seems like hell.
I think for many creative people, dealing with things that are boring, structured and laden with ridiculous details is akin to pulling out fingernails. I wish you had someone (for taxes) who could not only do them for you quarterly, but who could also pull all the tax pieces together in-between the quarters. But I’m not there so can only send love- you will come out on the other side soon.

So I needed to run a quick errand today. Because the ASSHOLE used to live next door, I planted a bunch of bamboo to block out that property so I can’t see what is in the yard. But something big was near the fence when I was trying to get in the yard. I had just brought Banjo in from the yard while I ran an errand. It was a GIANT bird… A hawk maybe. He flew into my back yard. I am TERRIFIED of birds. (This is a problem when I all Nanetter or The Fiance because they both have birds. It gives me anxiety just to hear them in the background on the phone.) On the way back home there were multiple very large birds flying in the air. It. Was. Terrifying. WTF is happening in this world.

I *really* admire and appreciate you talking about “mental health” it real. Take care of yourself. *sometimes* brain chemistry makes life feel really hard. Hang in there, darlin. I know you were takin crap over other things that made me wanna tug a few bad wigs. But honestly.. these days.. we are all so overwhelmed that even small shit brings on hysterical crying. If it’s any comfort.. you ain’t crying alone.
    meanwhile.. and speaking of drinking..
When my daughter was in 8th grade she attended a public school here that was almost entirely Asian student body – a great were new, still learning basic English. She was in drama & won the lead as the Wicked Step Mom in a revised Cinderella. The only blonde.
Wks later.. I was, likewise, the only blonde in the audience. Sitting amongst families I STILL passionately adore. But the only one, none the less
The final scene was the 6 ‘step sisters’ agreeing on a plan to take out the Wicked Step mom. When they raised their little plastic glasses to CHEERS the plan..? They ALL yelled (Jesus. I can’t even say it) .. chink.. instead of clink.

I literally lost my shit. Almost peed

Started decorating my balcony (my only outdoor space) with container pots, window boxes, rug and am on the hunt for new cushions for the furniture. Am using sweet potato starts for trailing greenery, very excited about that. I am a plant in the ground type of girl, so it’s pretty new to me to be constricted. Any tips welcome!

Tamara, sometimes I go days without eating, just drink milk and chocolate syrup. And smoke cigarettes like a fiend. I haven’t told anyone that. ❤️

Tips galore! As I renter and gardener, I have used containers for 50 years.

      1. Do not use a layer of gravel on the bottom for drainage. It does the opposite. (No striated layers, mix everything together.)

      2. Instead of putting a piece of broken crockery to stop dirt from coming out the bottom holes, cut a square of netting from those bags vegetable or lemons come in and put it on the bottom before the soil.

      3. Moisten your soil in a container before you use it. It should be moist enough to form a ball in your fist but with no water dripping.

      4. Mix volcanic rock with the soil. Garbanzo bean sized for small pots, walnut sized for larger. Mix 1/4 to 1/2 volcanic rock. It helps with drainage. VERY FEW things do not benefit from good drainage. It makes the pots weigh less too — you will be grateful when you lift them.

The last three are things I came up with. The first was updated from the 1960s-1990s by Master Gardeners.
