Wow! Google didn’t show me the show title for this week so I went to Wikipedia. And, it was there that I saw the ratings for this season. They are abysmal! They range from an episode one low of 340,000 views to a “high” of only 600,000! Last season the ratings were between 600,000 and 780,000 and the high number was LeeAnne’s wedding episode. This show is tanking without her. Also, before I get to tonight’s RHOD recap, if you haven’t seen today big Blind Item Reveal, click here now. Now I’m sure you will be thrilled to know that tonight’s episode includes a shaman therapy session and yet another birthday party. So, let’s get right to it!
Hug It Out!
We start at D’Andra’s Shaman party. It’s a weird as we expected it to be. Kary and some of the others can’t stop cracking up. Kameron is certain that the “Shaman” is brainwashing them all. Brandi thinks Jesus is going to be mad at her for chanting. Then they do partner work to resolve conflict. First up is D’Andra and Kary. Kary called D’Andra a selfish friend. That hurt her big fat feelings and made her angry. Kary is pissed that D’Andra talks about her behind her back. They hug it out. Next Brandi and Tiffany talk. Tiffany apologies to Tiffany for her behavior toward here. And they hug it out. This whole scene is ridiculous.

Then they all lay down and get covered in rose petals while the hairdresser/Shaman guy plays a gong. For some reason Brandi and Kary are afraid of the gong. Brandi thinks it it sounds like what hell would sound like. This whole situation was boring and ridiculous. All of it. The next day Tiffany meets with her boss to ask to go to a four day work week. He agrees to the new schedule. Meanwhile, Brandi shares that Brinkley has dyslexia and ADHD. Then she rambles on about Jesus. Kameron talks to her husband about selling the house. Apparently there is a pending contract and Court hasn’t told her about it. She wants to be included in the information regarding the sale.
Tiffany’s Morrocan Themed Birthday
I’m not sure why Kary was chosen as the one to throw Tiffany’s birthday party. It seems an odd choice. But Tiffany has has problems bonding with all the women. Everyone is getting super dressed up for the party. Nothing about the party says Morocco. Ha! Even Brandi knows this is not a very Moroccan setting. D’Andra brings Mama Dee to the party. Apparently, Tiffany loves Mama Dee.Tiffany says she never got a birthday party growing up. She got a hard boiled egg for luck and $20. Tiffany loves the party setting and does think it is Moroccan. I guess that is all that counts.

Dinner looks amazing but sadly the dinner conversation is disgusting. Tiffany gives a whole speech about how this is the first time she has a group of girlfriends. They have a group hug. Mama Dee tells Tiffany about how she planned to marry Glenn Simmons and marry rich. And she did. As Kameron says, Mama Dee was a gold digger who stalked a rich man. Then, we move on to Mama Dee and Brandi saying that the shaman session was demonic. Brandi tells D’Andra that she’s not a Christian if she believes in shamans. D’Andra and production remind us that Brandi goes to psychics and claims she can see ghosts. So, Brandi is a hypocrite.
SNAKES! OMG SNAKES!
Tiffany’s wedding cake does seem more Indian than Morrocan. Then, out comes the fancy birthday cake AND THE SNAKES! Kameron loves the snakes. One in particular. Next, the shots start flowing and everyone is wasted. D’Andra loves the giant snake. Also, D’Andra is really, really drunk. Mama Dee is not amused by all the drunk women. Apparently, Glenn Simmons is not D’Andra’s father. He is her step father. So why did she change her last name to Simmons? Mama Dee says she did it because the Simmons name would get her a lot further in life. D’Andra denies this and starts cussing out her mother and having a drunken tantrum. Mama Dee decides to walk away and maybe hitchhike home. Tiffany runs after her. D’Andra keeps calling her mother a fucking bitch.

So, um….Happy Birthday Tiffany? Mama Dee wants to have her microphone taken off so she can go home. D’Andra starts throwing shit like a lunatic and tells EVERYONE to go fuck themselves. The girls try to get D’Andra to call her ass down but she is too drunk to be anything close to rational. D’Andra is literally swaying like a tree in the wind. Kameron said that the word on the street is that D’Andra did change her name to give herself more clout. Someone thought it was a good idea for Tiffany and D’Andra to sit on the swing. That someone was wrong.
Next time: D’Andra and her mother talk about the name change. Tiffany films with her mother to tell her she is working less hours to be with her family. Why did Tiffany even need to tell her if it will cause an issue. How would she even have known?
This seems to be a recurring problem for Bravo: Housewives shows with shitty ratings. I’m not (yet?) buying the “LeeAnne made RHOD happen” narrative, but it does seem clear that Brandi’s messiness and D’Andra’s drama are nowhere near enough to carry this show.
And is it just me, or does it seem like Bravo’s really having a hard time in this more streaming-heavy media environment? I know cable channels across the board are having to scramble to adapt to cord-cutting and online streaming. But when Bravo shows increasingly feel like higher-budget versions of shit that’s all over YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and even Facebook, what’s the point of watching these Housewives shows?
I agree. I don’t think Bravo knows what we want. I want to see relationships, decked-out houses, and people negotiating work and kids and friendships. I want to see them having fun together. Instead we get lots of parties and trips where people get drunk and fight. It gets too chaotic. There is a pattern — the first season, we get real friendships or people getting to know each other and gossiping about each other to the camera. But then within a couple of seasons, they all fight, and then a couple of seasons later it’s fake story lines. The only franchise that seems to have handled it successfully is New York because they have real stuff going on, so they don’t need to make things up to be interesting.
I also don’t think coronavirus is helping them. In our house, we don’t want to see them at the beginning of the pandemic being all panicked and talking about it all the time. At the same time, they seem too frivolous for this time. We want just enough drama to escape our lives, but we want positivity right now.
Thank you KaraW! I could not agree more–I am so over all the petty drunken fighting. I want all the fabulous clothes, homes, trips, parties–and I don’t need the fabricated drama.
i agree. i am SO happy LeAnn is gone! i don’t think i would’ve watched this season if she was on it.
My guess is ratings are down because there’s not enough drama, but i personally love this season because it has a a little bit more of a happy vibe.
D’andra is good for tv but she bugs me bc she’s constantly wasted and an angry whiney spoiled entitled brat. i love stephanie, cam, Kary, tiffany and brandi. ❤️ and mama dee. and travis.. lol
You know how you pull up to a stop light, next to a great car & Sneak Peak look inside. and there this really good looking guy driving. Nicely dressed , gorgeous hair, great music playing. Maybe you’ll catch his attention….
& then suddenly he deep dives nose picks. For 4 or 5 seconds.
Yah
That’s what watching RHOD is like
EW!!!! LOL.
Omg, hilarious!! I just about spit out my coffee!!
Perfect way to describe it
I think this is a trend among all tv shows. There are certain ones that people watch live, which helps the very large ratings like on ABC/cbs but a lot of ppl that watch tv right now do on demand or online which has a delayed count. Most the networks already use the live +7 model.
I predict this will be the final season.
I HOPE NOT
I hope you are right. This show is painful to watch. In fact, I mainly fast-forward.
No wonder Brandi quit.. she knew she was about to get cancelled with a quickness after her disgusting display of hypocrisy and ridiculous bible thumping judgmental af attitude. Her BFF Stephanie has been slowing pulling away from her toddler sense of humor while her thumb of a husband went screwing around thus also distancing from her. I thought it was sweet letting her daughter dress her up, that’s about the only positive thing I can say about her from the scenes I saw last night.
Generally it was a hot mess express of a party and momma Dee is the devil itself and I don’t give a rip saying that, she’s disgusting and it surprises me that Tiffany gives her so much attention. I felt bad for Dandra, to have your own mother constantly throwing you under the bus is abusive and maddening. I hope she can move on and put some boundaries in place with that awful woman but seems that would be pretty hard since she has taken over her business. I Stan for Dandras house and her hot husband.. I love that they don’t have a cookie cutter space like a lot of the other HWs.
Kinda like how Kameron was being hilarious with the snake, she always surprises me with the things she ends up being good at.. archery, hula hooping, etc..
I completely agree with you about Momma Dee. The more I see her the more I dislike her. I did love Kam calling her a gold digger and really loved Kam’s reaction to the snakes. If this is the last season for this show, I doubt that I’ll miss it.
I’ll take poop talking, trashy Brandi over self-righteous “sister in Christ” Brandi any day of the week.
And why in the fahk did Mama Dee have to throw her own daughter under the bus like that? There’s something wrong with that woman for wanting to make her child look bad, true or untrue.
I used to love Stephanie too but her lack of story is making it so she’s hidden in the background.
As much as I dislike her elitist ways, Kam was hilarious this episode.
agree mama D was out of line. but i can’t stand D andra. did you all hear her say “now i’m going to be cut off financially.” like WTF tone deaf at. i can’t stand her. did i say that already? lol
(even tho she is funny sometimes)
They have a strange relationship for sure! It kind of reminds me of when I was a teenager and my mom was in a bad place and couldn’t show me actual love so I took what she could give me… money, clothes, and vacations. But… D’Andra isn’t a teenager and needs a lot more than a hair dresser turned shaman to heal, I know I sure did. Luckily I had a bad ass dad who set me up for success.
D’Andra doesn’t have any real skills from what I see that would allow her to make money if she doesn’t inherit the the trust which is in part her mom’s fault. I know I’m doing everything I can to not be like my mom and teach my kids to be 1. Hard workers 2. Grateful as hell.
Have to admit I deleted the last 2 eps. without watching. Just wasn’t interested. I’ll see if I like this one or I may say goodbye to this franchise as I have to another.
I wonder if Mama Dee is jealous of D’Andrea and Jeremy’s marriage… she sure is jealous about something which explains why she said jealousy is the reason women don’t like other women. I’m tired of watching drunk middle aged women.
I feel like we’ve gotten taken down (down being the operative word) path with Kary’s anger and Brandi’s issues. Brandi does not seem strong enough emotionally to be on TV this season and good for her if she made the break. I love these reality shows when they follow interesting people’s lives. But, with so many the reality shows, the show becomes the biggest thing in their life and now there is nothing real to show us. This is why I love Tiffany! She is showing us her real life. And D’Andra & Mama Dee could be their own made for TV movie. They are interesting! Crazy – but interesting.
I think Mama D IS jealous of D’Andra
I had a mom like her that and she was always jealous of me…and it sucked cuz I never realized it till I was older but couldn’t understand why my mom didn’t like me. With her wig and makeup she is fighting hard against aging and her daughter is a constant reminder of her “good old days” when she was a hot gold digger.
That being said it wasn’t cool for her to “out” DAndra for wanted a leg up with the name change
I am always amazed at parents who compete with their children. When the child just usually wants love and approval. How small are you inside that you view your children not as gifts to help grow into even better adults than yourselves, but as a competitor you have to constantly put down, to build yourself up? Save everyone the time and just don’t have the kids, doing nothing but making more damaged people.
I agree, and hope that with younger generations, women who (for whatever reason) either don’t want, or aren’t cut out for the sacrifices needed to be a half decent mother, will feel freer to forgo having children. I think older generations of women may have felt the pressure to have children to be socially accepted, more than the current generation of women in their childbearing years do. Even though I think I’m a good mother, sometimes I do wonder how much further I’d be career-wise, and how much freer I’d be, if I never had kids (my boys are in their thirties now). I know back then, the pressure was definitely a “thing”. Not to excuse Mama D, but her generation was under that pressure, and she seems a classic case of someone who (now), might choose not to have children.
FWIW, not having children is not all it is cracked up to be.
The grass is always greener, that is for sure! 😊
I always wanted children of my own, but wasn’t able to, and used to be really depressed about that fact, but in the last few years, I’ve regretted it less. Now, I do have a great step-son & grandson, which eases the pain, so that is probably a factor.
I think it is, TT. Childless and happy right here 🙋🏼♀️
I never really wanted to have children. I didn’t totally rule it out, but it wasn’t the dream like it is for a lot of women. I was just trying to say that not having children isn’t the perfect life of freedom some women with a passel of kids secretly dream about. I certainly do not regret not having kids. My whole family as a new kid coming every day it seem like that I can go play with if and when that desire hits. I used to have twenty something kids a year that I got to love for 8 hours a day five days a week. I LOVED that. I didn’t have to feed them, dress them, get the to school, take them to the doctor, etc. It all worked out perfectly. 🙂
Absolutely agree. The other’s grass always seems greener no matter which side you’re on. I was also a teacher, TT, so I had my own brood for many years. They brought me joy but I also felt happy knowing I’d find respite at home. I knew I didn’t want children from about 18. Never looked back. I do appreciate having some freedoms my friends don’t have but I also know I will miss out on some of their amazing experiences, as well. We can’t have it all no matter how much we try. ❤️
Whatever issues D’Andra and her mother have clearly run deep. Jealousy is for sure one. Whether the name change reason is true or not, her mother shouldn’t have dropped that bomb. I believe it is true, but I think Dee pushed her into it. Maybe the reason Dee brought it up was to punish D’Andra for getting wasted. Maybe Dee was embarrassed by D’Andra’s behavior and in turn wanted to embarrass her.
I am wondering how old D’Andra was when the name change happened. If she was a child then it was mama Dee who made that decision. If she was say 16 or older then D’Andra may have wanted the name change.
Either way it was rude for mama Dee to say and even ruder for D’Andra, on camera in front of friends, to say FU to her mother!
She was 18. And I also thought D’Andra said her stepfather adopted her, so I thought her name was Simmons because of that. But I guess her bio dad was still alive when she was under 18 and didn’t allow an option. D’Andra said her stepdad was the stable parent figure in her life, so she wanted to have his last name. Makes sense to me.
Thank you for the details!
