Black History month may be over, but black history is American history and never really stops. I regret not getting up more posts last month, but I don’t plan to stop just because February is over. Georgia has suffered a tremendous loss, with the death of Antoine Hodge.
Antoine Hodge was a highly acclaimed opera singer and native of Georgia. Hodge was a rising star in the opera world who performed leading roles at the Atlanta Opera, On Site Opera, Central City Opera, Opera Colorado, Regina Opera Company, Ash Lawn Opera, Colorado Springs Philharmonic, and Winter Opera St Louis, among many others. He has succumbed to a two month battle with COVID-19. He was 38-years-old.
I’ll let his voice speak for itself, as those of us in Georgia, and people around the world grieve. The video is blurry, but the voice is incredible. What a loss to the world. He comes in at the two minute mark. You won’t regret it.
COVID is truly the devil. RIP Mr. Hodge
Chilling…his voice goes right to the core.
I meant to mention somewhere along the line and forgot – seniors moments are happening frequently these days!
Black History Month may be over but I for one love reading these tidbits about incredibly interesting people. Please keep making special posts that highlight people that we should all know about. I love reading these posts TT
Me too. I started crying as he walked on stage. All the loss, now and in our history can be overwhelming sometimes. I won’t speak too much of what I’ve experienced this past year so unfortunately I have to learn of another loss but at the same time I get to release some sadness. I suppose that’s unhealthy but it’s all I’ve got right now.
Never stop being a teacher Tamara, thank you for all you do. Thank you TT followers, we have learned so much from each other but our fearless leader is the absolute reason we converse as we do.
Beautiful. What a tragic loss. Thank you so much for sharing.
Thanks TT. I love these posts.
