Oh Sonja Morgan. I love you on RHONY, I do. But I have to keep on telling the truth about your “clothing line.” Frankly, I can’t believe it has been going on this long. Back in 2018, TamaraTattles along with multiple other sites reported that Sonja’s newish clothing line was really an attempt for her to do what Ramona used to do buying and reselling overstock. Ramona would buy overstock from stores like Macy’s and sell it to stores like TJ Maxx.
But Sonja bought overstock from Target, and ALLGEDLY just slapped new tags in the products with her name, and sold it, or attempted to sell it online. Then, in 2019, she got a deal with a brick and mortar store chain Century 21. They agree to sell “her clothing” and promote them in her stores. Sadly, before that plan really got off the ground, Century 21 filed for bankruptcy as a result of the pandemic.
Sonja Morgan’s Big Retail News
Sonja’s online store seemed to pick up more inventory at that point, perhaps from Century 21? The quality of product at her online store seemed to be elevated at that point. That brings us to today. Sonja Morgan is now on WalMart.com. In my opinion the Walmart products are the old Target products. You can check out the twenty looks at Walmart.com here. They are all immediately “marked down” despite never selling at the previous price. They are also really over priced for WalMart. But the totally fit the tacky WalMart brand.
Couldn’t she have just given us a toaster oven?
In other news, RHONY has wrapped and nearly all of them are vacationing all over the place. This includes Leah McSweeney who has been critical of Ramona and Sonja and their travels. Leah and Ramona actually ran into each other in Florida and posted photos on Instagram. Sonja, Leah and the new girl Eboni all seemed to have ended the show as a “girl’s squad.” I’m looking forward to season 13.
Leah also posted photos of her and Braunwyn in Florida as “Sober Sisters”. Oy Vey!
Stay away from Braunwyn!
The most expensive item of clothing I have ever seen at Walmart was a 50$ coat. I buy clothes from Walmart. But I buy socks, pj pants, and just plain basic t shirts. I think you can buy the same dresses at H & M for cheaper.
Sonja’s ‘brand’ is being sold on Walmart.com. Not in stores. Big difference. Selling on Walmart.com is like selling on Amazon or EBay. It’s drop-ship items from the factory or AliExpress in China with a huge markup. You and I could probably sell our own ‘fashion line’ on Walmart.com
Correct! I made a couple minor edits to make that more clear.
What should be call our brand? 🙂
oh, so now i understand what i saw on walmart.com. multiple vendors were offering le creuset enameled dutch ovens from low prices to more than 2x the list price if purchased from le creuset direct. that was a pretty sweet deal for the vendor – get the cash up front, buy the pot wholesale, ship the pot, make a big profit selling it for twice retail.
Interesting Tamara! Walmart is trying to become the new amazon. As an independent store, you can add an app to your shopify store so that your products show up on Walmarts’ online store. Most of the outside retailers’ products say at the bottom “sold & shipped” by sugarpants or whatever. Sonja’s items do not say that which leads me to think either walmart is warehousing her products or may actually carry the items in-store at a location or two. Who knows?
Does anyone remember “1st season Ramona” at her office when she says to the client “so we will ship it overseas and have the new labels sown in”. Something like that. It was 10,000 units of something but being in the retail business, it has always stuck in my brain!
Yes and sometimes they actual house the product in China or wherever the get the fake labels sewn in. I’ve heard complaints about weeks of shipping time to receive the purchases. Not sure if that is what Sonja is doing or not.
I see Jim beat me to the punch. But to Jim & Tamara – we can call the line “Janfan’s shit she couldn’t sell due to covid” and I’ll donate the product! I packed a LOT of it up and sent it to a thrift shop that supports a womens’ shelter. But there is still more to be donated! I may take a loss, but it beats if hanging over your head and making you crazy. Now it is at the least going to some great people who can use it for good.
Wow! Is RHONY really heading into season 13?!? I’ve watched since season 1 and can’t believe it.
I also wish that Sonja with the sexy j had given us a toaster oven!
Well, first off, why does it not surprise me the depths these desperate women will go to in order to keep their name in the spotlight and second … who the hell is wearing dresses like these? Are people really going out to “functions” that require this type of dress? Hell, I go to the grocery store and Dr.’s appts and that’s my “functions” I guess and no fancy dress required. And can I add they are really unattractive? Who wears ruffles over 30? Or is it just me. We could name our brand “Cat Lady Chic” or “Covid Garb” and it would just be sweatpants or pj bottoms with a t-shirt that says “I like cats (or dogs) and maybe 3 people”
I looked at the clothing, not horrible but certainly overpriced. I like the long sleeve black t-shirt with sequined shoulders…pricey though and I haven’t worn real clothes in a year.
Oh Sonja, Sonja, Sonja, hope you make some money!
This has nothing to do with Sonja, just a quick comment about Walmart.com. If you find something online you can click the filters on the left. All the way at the bottom is a sold by filter. If it is on Walmart.com then it is technically sold by Walmart. If it’s not then it is a marketplace item which is sold by 3rd party sellers or direct manufacturers. Basically anyone that wants to set up the item. Amazon works the exact same way. Shipped and sold by Amazon = Amazon is the seller. Anything else is marketplace.
I only watch RHONY and RHOBH at this point. Cant wait for them to come back. And the toaster oven would have been better than clothes. Bethenny has always been right about Sonja as a business person.
Lmaoooo, oh geeeez ???
I’d rather wear the Captain Morgan pirate rum t-shirts that were just below Sonja’s on Walmart.com. Then I thought about Sonja (and Luann) and the pirate. Wasn’t that a crazy storyline?
I’d bought the toaster before the clothes. BUT they do look good on drag queens.
Maybe she could come out with an air dryer or mens leggings
Sonja would have made millions on the toaster oven.
Everyone wanted it.
To be fair, Ramona was a buyer for resale stores, as in, that was her job. It’s not like she personally went to Neiman Marcus, spent thousands of her own dollars, and resold items on the street. Marshall’s and Burlington, etc, have contracts with large, high end retailers. Ramona’s job was to select pieces for Marshall’s to sell. That’s HOW stores like that get their inventory.
Also I bought a dress from Sonja’s Walmart collection and I love it!
