I haven’t been able to watch this on Wednesday nights because there are two Bravo shows. I did managed to get a little bit spoiled on Twitter last night. People were losing their minds over the Chris and Paige situation. And apparently, Pastor Cal finally shows up to counsel the couples. So, I’m ready to get going on this MAFS recap.
Haley & Jacob
These two are not even speaking to each other. They did not ride to the airport together. Haley asked to have her seat assignment changed so she wouldn’t have to sit next to him. Haley has been hurting his feelings lately and the debacle with the “girls nights” that he was not invited to may be the last straw. Jacob thinks that Haley has a boyfriend. His feelings are hurt that she didn’t want him to go to drinks with her and the others the last night in Vegas. They fight immediately. They spend their first night in separate bedrooms. Jacob has apologized for calling Haley a liar.
Jacob is weird at Haley’s apartment. Here place is very classic and his is going to be Wayne’s World. Jacob’s three dogs immediately jump on Haley and beg for attention when she comes through the door. Gee, I wonder where they learned that from? Jacob shows Haley all of his 80s clothes and shoes and miscellaneous crap. We did not see the backyard beach resort he talked about for hours at the reception. Jacob’s dogs are mean to Haley’s dog. Later, they meet with Pastor Cal. Jacob explains his insecurities. Haley basically doesn’t want him to touch her. Yet in the end they both say they want to make things work. I don’t think Haley does. She’s waiting for an acceptable time to bail.
Brianna & Vincent
Brianna starts bossing Vincent around the minute they get in the apartment. She is a neat freak and that would drive me insane. Either I zoned out when they went to each other’s real homes, or they haven’t showed it yet. But Pastor Cal has showed up to counsel them in their new apartment. They both tell Pastor Cal that they are very happy in their marriage. But are they really? They both say they have met the person they want to be the rest of their lives.
The topic changes to foreseeable issues in the relationship. Vincent brings up that respect is important for him. So, her delivery at times is abrasive to him. Because, she’s so damn bossy. He says he is fairly laid back but there will be a point where he will bark back. He seemed very uncomfortable sharing this information. And she seemed shocked he felt that way. Also, he is wearing a dress shirt that is two sizes too small for him. Why didn’t she pick another one for him? Later Vincent visit’s Brianna’s place. She has a huge closet. He helps her pack. His apartment was nice too.
Later, Vincent pops some champagne to celebrate moving in. Some of it sprays out on to the floor. She makes these little jabbing insults like “leave it to you.” Then the fact that some got on his shirt was “real cute” and “real Vincent of you.” She’s quietly emasculating this guy and I don’t even think she knows she is doing it. It’s subconscious. You can see his mood changing rapidly. They go in the closet and close the door to the cameras. Brianna asks if he’s okay. He says he is just tired of her smart comments. She is clueless. They try to talk about it and it doesn’t go well. Vincent takes his backpack and heads to his place. 🙁
Virginia & Erik
Virginia keeps talking about wanting to have her space. Girl, you are going to have space because Erik is going to be gone flying for days at a time. Their flight home and first look at each others apartment was pretty much uneventful. Apparently, Virginia has cats and Erik is allergic. Erik’s apartment is a very clean, very modern bachelor pad.
Pastor Cal shows up and these two really need him. They talk about the age difference. It’s really more of a maturity issue. Erik says that she doesn’t know the difference in being married and having a boyfriend. She has already gone out for a night without him and thought it was weird that he wanted her to text him when she got there. Then Virginia says that sometimes she sleeps over at her guy friends house on the couch. Pastor Cal tries to explain to her that is unacceptable.
Paige & Chris
Next we discover that Paige is moving in to the new apartment alone. Apparently, on the flight back to Atlanta, Chris informed her that he was going to fly to Chicago. Eventually, Chris returns to Atlanta and shows up at the apartment. But he would not allow production to film the conversation with Paige. Since when is that okay? After the conversation, Paige calls production to tell them what he said. He told her he is still in love with his ex and wants to get back with her. She’s crying. He says he has already spoken to a divorce attorney. She’s angry. She wants to air out all his bullshit with Pastor Cal and then she is done. There was lots of cussing and tears.
Did Paige have family at the wedding? She needs a dad or a brother to come kick the dude’s ass. Wait! WHAT! On the ad for the next episode, we see the baby mama with Chris talking to Paige. Pastor Calvin stops by. Will she finally get some help? Paige tells pastor Cal that she slept with Chris on their wedding night because he wanted to and she felt obligated. She had sex with him again the night morning to avoid upsetting him. This is a highly triggering scene that make me physically ill. How does Pastor Cal not know about the baby’s mama? How could he not know this. Paige says they have had unprotected sex pretty much every day! Now he is all caught up to sped.
Chris Finally Shows Up To Therapy
Chris waddles his fat ass in the room with a smile on his face and gives a wave like nothing awful is going on. He is having trouble spitting out his cover story. He mutters about divorce. He won’t answer Pastor Cal’s questions about why he keeps having sex with Paige is he is not attracted to her. Paige can’t even say that she wants a divorce. Girl. WAKE UP! Pastor Cal tells us on the way out that normally, he would fight tooth and nail for the marriage. But not this one.
After Pastor Cal leaves, Chris starts apologizing again. He says he just hopes she doesn’t hate him. Then he whispers some kind of shit in her ear. There were no subtitles. Oh for fucksake. Paige tells production that he whispered that his fear was falling in love with her. And just like that, she thinks there might be a chance. She need to seek some serious therapy.
Clara & Ryan
Ryan goes to bed around 10 or 10:30. Clara goes to bed around 1 am. He wants the room completely dark. She likes to watch TV in bed. This is their first issue. Ryan actually has a house. Every drawer Clara opens has just random stuff inside. The house itself is nice though. These two are in a good place when Pastor Cal arrives. Oh they haven’t had sex yet! That surprised me. They are intimate, but they are taking it slow. Ryan wants more of an emotional base before they have sex. Clara ready for sex but she is learning to slow down a bit.
