I’d be lying if I said I was not trying to get through recapping RHOA to watch American Idol. It’s weird because I don’t listen to music. I know that makes me sound like a terrible person… But, I guess what I really mean is I hate music that I can’t control. I’ve left a grocery store and abandoned a shopping cart because I could not handle a song. I’m way too sensitive to music, so I mostly try to avoid it. But I kind of like American Idol and The Voice.
Until tonight. American Idol seems like a bit of joke. Or frankly A HUGE JOKE. The last few people have come through have been fake as fuck. Is it just me? Where is Erica when I need her? Everyone is a caricature or themselves. It’s sad. I think this show has jumped the shark. I know people will say that happened years ago, but this is some sorry shit. Fakers.
I’ve never been much of an American Idol fan before, but this season is just far too beyond the pale. After Claudia Conway posted about some really disturbing shit on her TikTok, she suddenly appeared on AI, and her mother was just cheering her on like nothing ever happened (at least, when it comes to what Claudia alleged on TikTok)?
Whatever the hell is the actual truth about the Conways, it’s just so gross for AI to exploit a child who’s clearly going through some real problems just to boost ratings.
Finally we got Willie Spence.
He was OUTSTANDING! So humble too.
Stop watching this dreck. It’s got nothing to do with talent anymore. Kellyanne Conway’s daugher? Come on! The most talented singer hasn’t one since Kelly Clarkston. I can’t believe this show is still on.
It used to be fun to see the stories of people’s lives and their paths to the show. Last night, everyone seemed like a caricature. The talent doesn’t seem to be there this season either. I’ll still keep watching for now. But I record it so it’s easy to FF through the bullshit. Which is most of it this season. I’ll never understand why The Voice who generally has had much better vocalist has not been able to produce the number of names that Idol has.
I did watch some after Simon left, but the show has never been the same. I did enjoy Steve Tyler as a judge. But after Simon left, the show became more about the judges performing and promoting themselves instead of being all about the contestants. Simon and Randy knew how to pick great talent. Since they’ve been gone, I can’t believe the people these judges have kept and those with crazy mad vocal skills sent home.
