This open forum will not be allowing any political comments or references. If you want to talk about politics, we can to that in the new post HERE. This forum is to talk about pretty much anything else. Just please don’t spoil TV shows. A lot of us are behind. Oh wow time got away from me. I’m watching a recording of Restaurant Impossible and it seems after this double episode they are moving to fucking Discovery Streaming. I hate all of this streaming nonsense. Another show I will miss. I am trying to gear up to watch the final episode of Jeopardy with Alex Trebek. I think I’ll wait for the weekend for that.
So, I know a few of you are ready to kill your husbands. Everyone still breathing or do any of you need an alibi or at least a divorce lawyer? 🙂 Best to vent here rather than catching a charge. I’m just living with a big ole dog and we irritate each other too.
Does anyone have any good news? It been cold and raining in the ATL today and looks like that will be the weather most of the week. It’s kind of good news in that the troublemakers aren’t out roaming the hood. But it doesn’t help my mood much. Anyone else feel kind of like the felt after 911? For those of us with safety issues, it’s not very helpful. I remember in college learning about Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs. It’s a pyramid. The bottom level of the pyramid is physiological stuff like air and water and food. The next level is safety. The professor basically said everyone has those two and move on to three. I remember thinking that I rarely feel safe. The rain makes me feel a little safer though. 🙂 And yes, I’m a nutbar. All psych majors are nutcases. Anyway, I’m trying to look at the rain as good news.
Oh an Banjo seems healthier than ever lately although he does sleep a lot. And I got new underpants and reading glasses and fleecey sweat pants recently. So those are my good things. And you guys.
I’m glad to hear Banjo is doing good. My entire world has been just crashing down around me lately, and it has nothing to do with Trump or the Pandemic…just everything coming to a head at once. And I’m reaching the end of my rope, but I’m healthy and so is my Mom and my pets. Plus I have a job so it’s best to look at the bright side of things.
Today is my 2 week wedding anniversary. I’m still pretty fond of him, but speaking of killing husbands, have you seen “”Why Women Kill”? It was my favourite show last year.
Congrats from another aussie on your two week anniversary!
Loved “why women kill” and pretty much decided its my favourite new show!
Thank you!!! Who were your favourite women? I equally loved the 60’s and 80’s women in different ways. I am definitely the neighbour across the road in the 60’s one.
Pretty sure i am the lawyer 😂😂😂
Rural NSW you say? Well now, that’s a coincidence, me too!
OMG! SARAH! Congrats! Where are y’all now? Where did you get married? We want details!
Thank you. Rural New South Wales… just family, perfect for us. He goes back to Germany in a week, I don’t know when I’ll see him again. The Australian government is so tight on exemptions, we are so lucky he got here after 11 months apart.
I have been watching lawsuit breakdowns on you tube, I’d recommend it but i know you don’t like you tube as a rule. But between makeup, tomfoolery, and the Erika jayne mess it is keeping me occupied. I work for the government and I am just too stressed to deal tv where breaking news could bring in more stress.
Murder podcast, lawsuit breakdowns, and books are my happy place currently. I am eyeing new pajamas as a treat for the Inauguration.
Have you tried Casefile? It’s the most popular Australian true crime podcast. I also love Canadian True Crime.
Discovery+ is a new streaming service that includes all the channels that Discovery owns. There`s a seven day free trail, you might want to take advantage of, because there is a show called Bobby & Giata in Italy, you really need to watch Tamara. there’s a total of four episodes right now. Two of them are centered on Rome, and two in Tuscany. Chef Bobby Flay and Giatta…who I did not know until know is the grand-daughter of Dino Delaurentiis, shop, cook, and see the sites.
It’s such a magical, relaxing show. As I think you`ve said you`ve toured Italy in the passed, you will love this show.
I haven’t been to Italy since elementary school. I really want to go back as a grown up. Or well an old person who never grew up. 🙂
At least live vicariously through Bobby and Giatta with that 7 day free trial.
You’ll be glad you did.
Stanley Tucci is doing a new show on CNN where he travels all around Italy discussing the food & the culture.. I love Stanley. I love that film he did, “Big night” with Tony Shalhoub about an Italian restaurant in America in the 1950s.
Ooooh I’ll look for that. Has it started?
It’s airing in February 😊
In the immortal words of Jimmy Buffett, I’m growing older but not up 🙂
Big news! Today I put on pants. Real pants with a zipper and everything! Like I had someplace to go (I did not). Only lasted a couple of hours, but still, so PROUD! My love for sweats grows daily! Can we make them the new Canadian tuxedo?
I kind of know how you feel… I put on a necklace today! I have tons of cool “work necklaces” that I stopped wearing in March. Pants don’t fit at this exact moment but I’m working on it!
lol, you put on “hard” pants today. It is a Twitter word meaning anything but the leggings we all seem to be living in. WTG GIRL, I love and live in my leggings.
p.s. last July the gap had them for $17. I did not expect much but they have turned out to be the best ever. Wash and wear weekly
Penny, why on earth would you do THAT? I bet you put on a bra too. Show off.
Sarah from Love After Lockups Blackcent?.
Drives me nuts
Love the show
I always though psych majors were nuts too. My sophomore roommate was a psych major and (when I was away that weekend, thankfully) she got into a FIST fight with another girl in the apartment and she was arrested and charged! She had to move out of the apartment and good news, I got the room to myself the last month of that year. I have no idea what happened to her but the girl she hurt (not badly) I am fb friends with and she is an artist in NYC.
I forgot about restaurant impossible, I watch the gordon ramsay one about fixing crap restaurants, and I wish I could find the Tabitha Coffee show with the hair salons? I cant find that unless I pay 1.99 an episode.
I love these posts where we can take a deep breath, thanks
oh and I got my covid shot! It hurt some, and I am no baby but two days later I still feel it. Also yesterday I felt so terrible, low grade fever, exhausted, I thought I was really getting sick but it was a side effect, and I am fine today. I dont care it if makes me grow a baby arm out of my forehead I am happy I got it. Next week my 84 year old Mom gets it. In six weeks I can hug people, but not too much.
also special note: I am using a different email address, hope that’s okay, this is my preferred one
Oh Ingrid so happy for you! I’ve followed your horror Covid journey with your husband and his long, hard miraculously recovery. So happy you got the shot and will be protected. Happy dance for you!
Ingrid, Hell’s Kitchen just started too, and the first episode was really good! Production made me fall in love with one of the guys and buy the end of the show everyone hated him. lol. I still love him.
Haven’t watched it in ages, but loved the first episode.
I moved to a new state, and the hubby just arrived a week ago. Been a tough letting him get settled when I’ve been here for a month.
A Covid side effect is a good thing, means your body is reacting to it. I believe in yearly flu shots, have not had a reaction in years because my body recognizes the virus/vaccine. Covid is a new one so with your second shot you will have great immunity. Congrats, I’m so jealous.
thank you Coco! I am more of a top chef girl than hells kitchen, but I will check it out again, thanks!
I love Top Chef, Hell’s Kitchen and Restaurant Impossible(which is very formulaic, owner asks for help, owner tell Chef whose name escapes me to go fuck themselves, Same Chef becomes a therapist and fixes all the families problem, Owners resist change, the big reveal is beautiful and they all live happily ever after.). It’s kind of like a Lifetime Christmas movie. It’s basically the same movie/ Show over and over with different casts. LOL. This is what I need right now. Shows where people need help, resist help, appreciate the help, get through hard times and live happily ever after. On the latest shows he is going back to help people he helped before deal with COVID and help them make money.
I’m a masterpiece theatre geek. I can’t wait to watch “All Creatures Great and Small” starting on Sunday on pbs. It looks lovely and tranquil, and that is what I need right now.
Long time reader very occasional poster from Brisbane, Australia. Thanks TT for all the reality recap I love reading them all even though I never comment. I’m always a day late. It’s nice to gasbag about these loonies we see on tv lol!
On the home front we are in our 1st day of a 3 day hard lockdown for our 2.5 million residents. We have 1 case of that highly contagious UK Covid strain and we’re trying to prevent any community transmission. The majority of us know it’s a necessary evil so we’ll be all at home for the next 3 days and masking up everywhere.
Hope you all have a great weekend! I’ll be re-watching A Discovery of Witches Season 1 in anticipation of the 2nd season premiere next week 😊 Can’t wait!
P.s. where’s Cho? I’ve missed him and his reno stories.
Y’all are locking down for three days over one case and everyone is doing it? We have FOUR THOUSAND cases a day or maybe it is deaths I don’t even know anymore. And We just jet around the world and do all sorts of dumb shit. And OH, Our president is trying to orchestrate a Banana Republic style coup, and we can’t afford health insurance and are all probably going to die. CAN I COME LIVE WITH YOU? LOL.
We are a total shit show and laughing stock at the moment.
Australia does it the right way and has since the beginning.
WTG Aussie girl. Hope you are proud of your country and how the people all worked together.
I am also looking forward to All Creatures 🙂 I wish I could <3 or 🙂 posts by other TTers, I'd like them to know their posts are appreciated.
As for me, My NW FL Coastal home is safe and sound. We are still recovering from 10/18 Hurricane Michael (thank you, insurance companies that don't care) and 2020 Hurricane Sally. On the good side, the feral kitten my neighbor helped me trap joined the herd in October, let my husband pet him by mid November but I couldn't touch until early December. Now he wants to sit in my lap 🙂 Good to be loved.
Enjoyed Drag Race tonight and now I am on to Life After Lockup. I am going from beautiful people to crazy people. So far my fav is Tina Burner.
Saw a commercial for a new PBS show that looked really interesting (esp. after I fell in love with the Netflix movie, Enola Holmes)
It is called Miss Scarlet and The Duke.
Website description:
Kate Phillips (Peaky Blinders) stars in a six-part mystery as the headstrong, first-ever female detective in Victorian London, who won’t let any naysayers stop her from keeping her father’s business running. Stuart Martin (Jamestown) plays her childhood friend, professional colleague, and potential love interest, Scotland Yard Detective Inspector William Wellington, a.k.a., The Duke.
Starts on January 17th.
I am so excited for this too!
I like to watch a few historical fashion youtubers. One lady did a review of historical accuracy of fashions for 2020 period pieces and she included this in the rankings, and I was so confused I spent several days trying to find it thinking it had already been released. Would have been nice to watch during Christmas!
Victorian lady detective novels were my JAM in early covid times. Hopefully this is lighter than “the alienist” was.
LOVED Peaky Blinders, have crush on Cillian Murphy – have you seen him in the movie Peacock? Amazing movie.
Will plan for this series on the 17th.
I needed a much break from news & have been binging Hannibal on Netflix. I love psycho thriller/horror movies – but this shits bat crazy.
Have 2 seasons down, and one left – just going to put football on and make a stew. It’s cold and I want comfy food – plus I like my dark movies when it’s dark out..lol
Haven’t watched it in ages, but loved the first episode.
I moved to a new state, and the hubby just arrived a week ago. Been a tough letting him get settled when I’ve been here for a month.
I can’t imagine moving in a pandemic. I wanted to go to bed at 7 pm and I HAVE NO IDEA WHY I AM STILL UP. Night, all.
Has anyone watched the first season of Bridgerton? So good! I binge watched and wish now I had watched slower. I don’t sleep for very long, I nap due to chronic pain. So I’ve been watching lots of Netflix. I start my next series of knee injections in another week and after that I will be able to have ablation on my lumbar spine again. I dread the actual procedures each time but look so forward to pain relief and actual sleep.
I did. Never read the books. I enjoyed the soft porn scenes immensely. Simon is the hot version of my not-hot husband. Like if you fell through a hotness rabbit-hole and your hotness factor was reversed.
I thought it was interesting that Networks like Discovery and Own, etc., are live screaming. Don’t we pay enough to watch tv. I remember using an Antenna to watch and everything was in black/white, and not having to pay to watch. This is getting crazy and more expensive by the day. Has anyone ever used fubotv? If so how is it? I think it’s a screaming service too. Never thought I would see the day that I would have to pay 100’s of dollars to use my home phone, watch tv or use the internet, but here I am.
I used Fubo for a couple of months. I ended it as I felt it was too expensive for the channels that I watched. I paid $75 per month for Fubo and there were good things about it. One of the advantages was the ability to ‘DVR’ shows. They also had some decent 4K shows as well. But, then hell froze over and I got Spectrum Streaming for $24/month. No dvr service, but access to loads and loads of on demand and it also had most of the channels that I was looking for.
I watched the Queens Gambit and LOVED it!! I’m sure a lot of yous have already seen it but if you haven’t, please check it out!!
My girlfriend who’s birthday is today, and I have been watching Couples Therapy on Showtime, it’s really good too.
Hmm let’s see, we also signed up for MasterClass so I think we’ll probably watch some of those this weekend.
I am making her Beef Wellington tonight for her bday.. wish me luck! I’ve never made it before. I am also attempting to butcher the entire huge beef tenderloin I bought at the Publix yesterday.. the nice butcher guy showed me how and I found myself getting way to excited to work on my knife skillz!!! I am going to use my food sealer to freeze the steaks and scraps I end up with after getting my 3 lb roast out of it..
Need an outlet for this crazy week!!
Oh in case anyone’s interested, I’m attempting the Tyler Florence Greatest Beef Wellington recipe from food network..
Any advice from you guys on this recipe, please send them my way.. I’ve never even eaten this dish before but from what I can tell, it’s delicious if done right.
Beef Wellington is my favorite meal. Impossible to find it in a restaurant .
My DIL travels and enjoys the finer restaurants. I asked her & she had never heard of it. Then a few weeks later a client of hers asked where they could find it in Monterey-Carmel area. She could not reply but went looking.
This was before Covid.
If any of you know the area you know fine dining is everywhere here. DIL could not find one place that served Beef Wellington. I can’t say all of you would like this meal but I can’t see a normal home cook achieving the preparations of this meal. You would need exceptional skills.
Maybe Tyler has found a shortcut. I will check his out.
jam, I admire your energy on attempting Beef Wellington. I think it will be delusions.
Tyler’s recipe is a little different than how I was served and became accustomed to.
Mine was a individual serving in a puff pastry with liver pate’ at the base of tenderloin inside pastry.
Think it was 1/2lb tenderloin med-rare sitting on about an inch of pate’.
Tyler’s sounds so yummy I sincerely admire your kitchen bravery.
The beef Wellington turned out wonderfully! I followed the Tyler Florence recipe all the way through and used a meat thermometer to ensure proper cook time. I swear by the thing, has a probe so you just stick it in, set the temp and let it go off when it’s done!
Was sooo good!!
YAY! I haven’t had Beef Wellington in years. Glad it worked out for you!
Mmm. I’d eat rocks if they were encrusted in something flaky/buttery – so glad you’re Wellington turned out great! My stomach has rebelled against meat as I’ve gotten older, but seeing your post today is inspiring me to try salmon wellington. I saw it demonstrated on Tamron Hall just this morning- so the universe must be guiding me to do something Wellington soon. I go through phases with cooking- I’m either all in- the mad chef- or will go weeks without doing much of anything (and supporting our local restaurants by ordering takeout- or so I tell myself). Seeing all these posts about food shows made me remember an old BBC series I used to watch on public television called Chef 😊
I was Jonesing for Anthony Bourdain this weekend, so I finally dipped my toe into streaming and got HBO Max. I think it’ll be a whole new world. I need some Anthony right now, really, really badly. Also listened to a great podcast yesterday on NPR called Hidden Brain. It was on how and why our brains are hard wired wired to make us biased- we all are, we all think we’re not, but we all think everyone else is, etc., but as long as we can recognize that everyone has “bias blind spots”, we can all start to communicate and respect each other again (if only, sigh). Sorry- another crazy former psyc major here 😊. Love NPR.
TT: loving that you’re sound like your warrior matter-of-fact self is restored. Oddly, I’ve read your posts daily since you arrived “on scene”. And you have been an unexpected pillar of strength & bad a$$ery that inspires me I’ve come to realize…Tnx for staying & continuing your good work. Wishing you a smooth wknd. Battle onward we must.
Thanks Dawn. I’m still kind of all over the place but focused on trying to keep it together. I think we are all like that right now.
I’m gonna work on my gardens today. They are small but good enough. I also got an AeroGarden and my six little herbs are growing like crazy! Dill, 2 basils, thyme, mint and parsley. Just finishing watching Sweet Magnolias. They are making a Season 2. And Lifetime went back to all their regular movies… Deadly Resolutions or something. And there’s always the cats who require non stop attention… Not cooking anything thrilling but did make a lamb, barley, leek, mushroom soup that was delicious. I’m telling you, we could live on soups.
We watched Sweet Magnolias at the beginning of the pandemic! Loved it! Will have to watch again just to catch up when they finally get to film Season 2.
Yesterday would have been Elvis Presley’s 86th birthday. I binge listened to his music all day. What a voice.
If Anyone is watching Your Honor on Showtime, it is a really great series and I hate that I have to wait for a week for the next episode. Also, I’m a bit mentally slow during all of this quarantine shit. I feel like my mind is going to mush. Also, I used to drive boyfriends crazy at movie theaters with my constant whispers like, “Is that the same guy from the elevator?” Because as most of you know I struggle with facial recognition skills.
I say all this to say, I have a new boyfriend! Well okay not really but this Jonathan guy writes the best recaps in the world and answers all my questions including ones I didn’t even know I had in his recaps.
So if you are watching and like me need a person who is smart with good facial recognitions skills, I highly recommend his recaps. I just found them tonight when I was googling to figure out why we were at a funeral. I also tend to forget the previous episode by the time the new one comes out. I think I am getting Alzheimer’s.
https://readysteadycut.com//2020/12/07/your-honor-season-1-episode-1-part-one-showtime-recap/
I’m watching your honor! Like you, can’t wait for the next episode! Had an idea tonight. I would love to have a puppy, but can’t. Hubby as allergies. Any chance people could post photos of their pets? A little joy in these bleak days?
Goldendoodles, if you can afford one. My friends have a mini-GoldenDoodle that didn’t end up being so mini (took after his Golden mom in height, rather than his mini poodle dad)
Find a breeder that will let your husband come hang out and see if he reacts.
Sadly we can’t post photos in comments. Why not get the dog the Obamas have? They are allergy free. Or look outside and watch the others walking their dogs? I love watching all the dogs passing my house.
Welcome to Plathville has just finished. Any chance of a discussion thread??? I have so much to say.
On top of everything else in the world, this dog/cat food thing is getting worse. Dogs are dying from the following brands.

Hello TT and the Gang! I’ve missed all of you. First my Kindle died, then my phone decided it didn’t want to let me on the site. I’ve been struggling with a variety of sickness and depression. I’m a trooper, so I’m hanging on. The holidays were awful. Still on lockdown and I missed my New Years “Tune Up” LOL
TT you can send me some wine or tequila to my facility, I double checked😉😉
I have a lot of catching up to do. Wanted to let you all know I’m ok and I missed you a whole lot!
Love ya💞💞💞💞
Welcome back, Nadia! I’m having trouble getting my own wine. Groceries are sold out of my favorites. Even the website I use has cancelled orders for Prosecco. It’s insane. We are all apparently guzzling booze!
I’ve been looking for a place that delivers alcohol in Snellville, they charge way too much! Before Covid I know that Wal-Mart was putting in a wine section. But haven’t been able to go back and see.
