HAPPY NEW YEAR! WE MADE IT TO 2021!

January 1, 2021 by tamaratattles 32 Comments

What a bitch 2020 was. I am so glad it is our rear view mirror. Between the pandemic and the political situation, I feel like we got into it with each other more than usual. I hope that 2021 will be a year of healing and that some of our friends with differing political opinions will find it safe to get back in the pool.  2020 divided a nation and it also divided us. A lot of that is on ME. And while I do not apologize for my opinions, I do apologize for the ways I expressed them at times. I’m an independent and usually that means I hate things from both parties. And I vote for the side I hate less during that election. 🙂  It was a bit different these past four years as we had someone in the White House who was actively working to divide us. And it worked. And someone who didn’t care we were dying. And was supported.

It is now time to move past that and try to figure out how we can all come back together after this. Some of us, including me, are still very angry. So it could take a while. One of my favorite parts of last night was people asking where Beetswhy is. Most of us disagree with Beetswhy on A LOT OF THINGS. But she is part of this family. It was like an empty seat at the table. Then we have KTina. Lord help me sometimes when her comments end up in moderation, I want to hit the WLS button. Then I see the user name. And it is like, Oh. Okay. I do have the tendency to WLS newbies who I think will not fit in. But, hell, if you have been bugging me for years… You have a seat at the table for family Thanksgiving. But I might choose to mess with you here and there. 🙂

And while so many of us have become an Internet family that squabbles a lot. The virtual table has infinite amounts of seats. But please understand, there may be some hazing on the way in. It’s not for the weak of heart. But once you stick around, we aren’t really mean girls (and guys) and you can sit with us. So let’s try to mend any hurt feelings and forge ahead in 2021. We have the Mr. Rogers kind of can’t we all just get along sort of president this time. And while it might not have been my choice prior to 2020 I think we need that warm and fuzzy grandpa at the helm for now.

This is an internet photo, but I even have those dishes. ..

In other news, what are you guys eating today? In the south we MUST have blackeyed peas and greens on the first. People have different reasons for this even within the south. But I grew up being told the greens (TURNIP GREENS ARE THE ONLY CHOICE PEOPLE, NOT COLLARDS!) are for money and the peas are for luck. So mine have been slow cooking with a ham hock in each pots for a few hours. I’m about to eat all I can hold because I need lots of money and luck in 2021 and I hope you guys all get a lot of both too.

Thanks so much for spending another year with me. I appreciate you all more than you know. Let’s stay healthy this year. PLEASE wear a mask, wash your hands, social distance, avoid leaving the house unless you have to. I need you all to be healthy.  xo~tt

OH…. You just sent me into remembering the tune Portobello Road from Bedknobs and Broomsticks… and also remembering that I got lost in my last day in London, so didn’t actually get to experience Notting Hill (but time to rewatch both movies, I think!)

I agree with Biden wanting to bring us closer together as a nation. Driving along my rural part of Arizona yesterday I saw Fuck Biden banners for sale next to traditional Trump gear. People gotta get over the election and move on. So, I’m making white chicken enchiladas and Mexican rice in honor of new, more open border policies soon to come.

Happy Kinder New Year in 2021.

    Happy New Year everyone!

I’m making rigatoni. My Grandma always made rigatoni for everyone on New Year’s Day. She made a large pan of it, full of meat she got from the small Italian grocery store, and then she would make a small meatless pan for me. She was the best cook in the world and I miss her.

Happy New Year! And, yes, black peas and turnip greens are very important.

Hope everyone stays healthy and happy.

I am on a three hour wait for delivery pizza! I called at 3 and they said it will be 6:30. I said ok, I will see you at 6:30. Also, my mom is a die hard Democrat, and all of her best friends are die hard Republicans. I love and respect those women so much, they have gone above and beyond for my mom and for me. It is possible for us all to be friends. I can say what I want to my mom’s closest friends, but I will throat punch anyone that dares to be rude to them.

Hi Tamara- you’ll probably block me or I’m in the WLS or something due to our recent heated exchange (and I had really thought that I was done with commenting here), but this post really touched my heart and you drew me in, so I thought I’d chance it.. You also made me laugh on this grey, icy day up here in B-more, when you said you voted for the party you hate the least- I completely relate to that. So much division and hate right now; I’m not religious but I actually find myself praying (which is not like me) for people to stop hating people just because they have different opinions. That is the thing that Trump did to us, and we need (as a nation and as individuals) to not give him that power anymore! He poisoned us the most in that way, I think – it was insidious! On a happier note, made the mixed navy bean type soup with a ham bone and collard greens, and cheddar jalapeño cornbread.

Fun fact, Kat! I never remember who I argued with after the argument is over. It’s the one good part of not being able to remember shit. 🙂 So for me, it’s like it never happened! Go forth and sin no more. lol.

Happy New Year TT, this was a really beautiful way to start out the new year. 2020 has brought out so much anger, anxiety, and depression in everyone, we as a country have never been this divided, so here’s to hoping 2021 brings healing and kindness to us all. Love your site I come everyday even if I don’t comment much. I have been blocked before and I try not to say much I know how your anxiety has taken over since quarantine, and don’t want to trigger anyone. I suffer everyday too and have for a very long time so I just feel like I’m a better lurker than commenter lol. Have a very blessed day. Oh the food we always have on New Year is bbq ribs but this year was steak tips because I didn’t thaw my ribs in time.

TT, I have to thank you for being an escape from some of the craziness. Even when you touch on the real world, you keep it honest and say what you feel! I can always respect that.

It has not been a good start to 2021 for me. My aunt died early this morning, I have a friend in ICU with covid, not expected to make it thru tonight and a stepmom at home with covid. I pray this is the 3 bad and that the rest of the year will be smooth sailing.

I really really really hope that things will start getting better soon. I don’t expect miracles overnight, but moves like the shit the McConnell monster has been pulling are going against ALL of us. I have been a Democrat all of my voting life, but I vote on the candidate, not the party. I hope the remaining Republicans can get back to being responsible AMERICANS and do what’s best for this country. We need to work TOGETHER to KEEP this country great — for all Americans. But I confess, I am worried about the first few days of the new regime. POTUS (NFL) is busy fomenting hate.

I have never in my life seen people this full of hate. And this was before Covid. Then I read both Bob Woodward books about Trump. Then I went back and read some of his tweets and now I see where all this hate comes from. We, on this site, do not always agree with each other but that does not mean there needs to be verbal attacks. If you are that angry, with that little control over your rage and get wound up that easily, then take a deep breath, count to 10, pray for clarity and then comment. We have been attacked for the simplest comments and this world has enough hatred. I’m glad to see him go. Now he went back to WH for what? Pardon more family members? Oh, BTW, in Woodward’s book Rage, he writes how even Fauci was against mask wearing, closing down and scaring the people in the beginning of the pandemic since nobody ever went through this before. Frightening how this whole thing exploded when it didn’t need to be that way. Stay safe all my friends here. Don’t get weary of this cuz it’s gonna be around for a while…
