D’Andra Simmons Hospitalized With COVID

December 28, 2020 by tamaratattles 32 Comments

D’Andra is the latest housewife to contract COVID. Friends and a representative of RHOD’s D’Andra Simmons announced today that she is currently in the ICU. She’s in the COVID ward at UT Southwestern Hospital. She had experienced a drop in her oxygen levels and was admitted. The doctors have started her on Remdesivir. That antibody treatment usually occurs over a five day period.

D’Andra is still recovering from a recent “ankle replacement and foot surgery” shortly before Christmas. That’s a lot to go through at 51 years old. She celebrated Christmas at home with her husband, her mother, and her step-son. So, I am sure they are all being tested. Sending thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery and that the rest of her family stays well.

RHOD returns on Thursday, January 5th at 8 pm.

I was so saddened to see this news break earlier. In case anyone still doubts the reality of the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic, here’s another awful reminder that it’s still out here.

I wish nothing but the best (including a full recovery) for D’Andra.

Yep! We are in the worst spike we have been at all season. And things are projected to get worse from all the fools who traveled for Christmas gatherings. I don’t forsee any sort of dip until the end of March unless Biden is able to do the 100 days of mandatory masks thing.

Unfortunately masks don’t work because people only wear them long enough to enter a business and then pull them down to their chin or below their nose. I’ve seen videos on social media of idiots making a special effort to make masks out of material that lets all the air through. The pandemic isn’t going to be over until the majority of people are vaccinated, or we have a nationwide lockdown because of ignorant a-holes.

MASKS WORK!!! People not using them properly is another issue.

Wear a mask. Stand away from people.

          Don’t give up

I know masks work! I’m saying a mandate won’t work because people still won’t wear them properly. They have been mandated in Minnesota for months and people still do the things I mentioned in the above post. We were almost at 10k cases a day, even with a mask mandate, then government shut the bars and restaurants down and now we are around 2k a day. So nationally we need something more drastic than a mask mandate, especially with the new strain that’s highly contagious.

masks work, it’s the idiots not wearing them or wearing them incorrectly that are the problem.

I wonder if she caught covid while in the hospital for ankle surgery?
DFW has been hit very hard in the last few week – got a news alert on my phone today that there are only 17 ICU beds available. And people still don’t wear masks – beyond selfish.

it’s very possible. My fiancé’s grandfather went in due to a mini -stroke, and what they didn’t know was that his hospital roommate had covid. It was insane. Prayers to her family

I hope she does well. I watched all of the seasons a month or so ago, all of the episodes back to back, and at first I didn’t really care for her, but she grew on me a lot. She seemed cold and distant at first. I mean I would wish her well even if I didn’t care for her because that’s sort of what the whole human experience is all about, but it’s nice to be able to really feel it, you know.

I hope she recovers quickly and without complications! I like her. Facts: 1.3 million people traveled in America on Christmas Day. Why was this necessary? My sister and I were saying this is past being selfish. It’s a mental illness at this point. Did they not hear about that guy and his wife on the United Flight who LIED about his being sick with covid and he died on the flight? They claim they didn’t know. Really? He couldn’t taste or smell anything and had a fever and still got on a plane. LIARS! To me, there must be charges that can be filed against the wife if anyone on that flight catches it. And today I read a journalist in China was sentenced to 4 years for reporting on lockdowns. So this is not a joke or a hoax or exaggerated or made up. It’s been since February that we knew about this and people are STILL in denial. I am not going to ask anymore what the hell is wrong with people for not taking this seriously. To me, they are all just mentally ill and should be treated as such. 5050 holds, psych evaluations, etc etc.

Just to play devils advocate, I lost my sense of taste and smell but it came back within days. I did not have a fever. I tested negative. My daughter with no symptoms tested positive. It’s not as cut and dry as it seems. Though if you can’t go to school due to a fever, I am not sure why you should be able to fly.

This isn’t the one to play devils advocate with – the news stories made it pretty clear the guy was in bad shape – he should not be on the flight. The wife told an EMT (not sure if it was the dude who did CPR) that the husband had covid symptoms. They choose to get on the flight.

Sorry – but at a time when there is so much covid BS – don’t be devils advocate – if someone “thinks” they aren’t 100% don’t get on a flight. Don’t mess w my life by getting me and everyone else sick bc your selfish and can convince yourself it might be a cold, or no one will know….

Poor D’Andrea, even the ankle replacement surgery is not as tried and true as a knee or a hip, as a chronic ankle pain sufferer, it would have to be much worse to consider that step, so I guess it was pretty bad.
VERY sad about the COVID. My husband did not get remedesiver because they were just starting to use it and were worried about heart complications. He did get hydroxychloraquin (sp) which did nothing, and the antibody transfusion, which May have helped. I hope she is in the icu due to an abundance of caution and she is breathing on her own, so very scary

My hubby’s brother died from it last week. 15 members of the family have it and none of them were together. They have no idea why this one family is catching it from different cities/ etc. It must be their gene or DNA strains. It’s horrible in our county of 38,000. People refuse to wear masks in our rural Texas area! Crazy!!!

I just went out in THE WORLD and more people were wearing masks than usual and masks were mandatory in all the small stores I popped into. Also there were HUGE SIGNS saying that if we get sick or die from COVID Georgia law states they are not liable. So sorry about your family members. I’ve had six get it. So far they have all recovered. However one has some serious preexisting conditions.

Best wishes for D’Andra. I live in Dallas as well. My Aunt and Uncle both died 2 days before Christmas. They had been in the hospital for 45 days- both were admitted early on after diagnosis. Neither received Remdesivir or any of the special treatments available to high profile patients. I’m guessing D’Andra’s wealth and status are why she got the life saving treatment. It’s all just so incredibly sad. 2020 has been dreadful for me and my family and so many others.

I’m so sorry to hear this and wish her a speedy recovery. I know you have readers here that still don’t believe so I’ll throw my story in. My son’s 40 year old (healthy as a horse, marathon running, zero pre-existing conditions) football coach has been on a ventilator since the beginning of November. They have thrown every possible life saving measure at him and he is continuing to fight although still in very critical condition. I have a friend whose co-worker found her 30 year old son dead in his room – he was diagnosed with Covid and was in quarantine and it just took him overnight. I know several other folks who have gotten very sick but survived. How anyone can continue to deny the gravity of our situation with this virus is beyond me. I feel every single denial is a slap in the face to those who are suffering, and if I know several personally who have been impacted then I feel that most everyone else must too? So its disheartening, to say the very least, to know that so many people think so little of their fellow humans. The fact that others might not wear masks properly should not be a reason to give up on them. Wear your own properly and protect yourself and potentially those that you love. I do know we will get through this. Thank you TT, for giving me a place to read about my favorite shows. The respite from the realities of our world is much needed.

I went out in THE WORLD today for almost 3 hours. Most of it was spent standing outside waiting to vote. I also got my favorite Zalad from Zaxby’s to coax myself to eat something healthy. Then I stopped at the Dollar Tree for more reading glasses because I somehow manage to break a leg off all mine. The Family Dollar for Reindeer pants (they didn’t have any bought some boring kind because they are cheap and clean. Then one more stop for smokes to get me through January hopefully. During these jaunts I typically listen to talk radio. At some point the guy substituting for Rush was on. He is even further out there. And the callers were terrifying. They are 100% convinced, despite any shred of evidence, that the election was stolen. They fully believe in a bunch of conspiracies about suitcases of votes and pizza boxes covering windows. They believe unless Trump is president again it will mean the end of the Republic. They are planning to riot in DC on January 6th. There was talk of Civil War. Somehow they had odd opinions on BLM. As if it was outrageous that black people are still 400 years later fighting for equal rights. And the mask thing. OMG! The said there is no science behind mask wearing. It doesn’t work. IT WAS TERRIFYING. And I had to keep the volume low because I had my window open because today was a great day. I was mortified someone would hear and think I believed what I was listening to.

I really think some of the shows need to be taken off the air. Today’s episode for sure. There are exceptions to Freedom of Speech in this country and this broadcast was definitely attempting to incite a political coup through threats of violence.

The Supreme Court has held that “advocacy of the use of force” is unprotected when it is “directed to inciting or producing imminent lawless action” and is “likely to incite or produce such action”.[2][3] In Brandenburg v. Ohio (1969), the Supreme Court unanimously reversed the conviction of a Ku Klux Klan group for “advocating … violence … as a means of accomplishing political reform” because their statements at a rally did not express an immediate, or imminent intent, to do violence.[4] This decision overruled Schenck v. United States (1919), which held that a “clear and present danger” could justify a law limiting speech. The primary distinction is that the latter test does not criminalize “mere advocacy”.[5]

Sorry. I got a bit off topic.

We wear mask and gloves. I lost my job because they were non-covid believers, walking around coughing. I am struggling financially, but we’ll be fine. And the best thing you said, was that it is a slap in the face to those who are suffering.

Yolanda, Georgia is WORKING SO VERY HARD to make this change. I gave a few small tokens to a Dem campaigner yesterday. The weather was shit and no one in my hood opens the door unless they are expecting someone. They have been here knocking on every single door over and over for days. Yesterday’s worker was being chased by a dog in front of my house and I put a stop to that. It made me realize how many dangers they put themselves in. She was campaigning alone. I wish they would go in pairs. Anyway I gave her a couple of Starbucks cards someone had sent me for another situation we were trying to help and a couple of single serve bottles of Prosecco to ring in the new year. She cried, I cried. She is my hero. She is brave and determined and amazing. WE ARE TRYING. WE ARE GIVING IT ALL WE HAVE. I VOTED and spent yesterday trying (and succeeding) to get media attention on voter suppression and the FOUR HOUR LINES we are waiting in at my polling site that the republicans tried to close entirely. In the end they gave us 3.5 days when everyone else had three weeks. We came. We waited and we fucking voted.

WE ARE DOING EVERYTHING WE CAN. And I hope so very, very much that it works.
