RHOA Recap: Ten Ten Twenty Twenty

December 20, 2020 by tamaratattles 46 Comments

RHOA RecapThe Bravo suits are losing their minds over the housewives ratings last week. Apparently, it’s not just websites who are suffering from 2020 burnout and everyone preparing for Christmas. I know I am trying to fit in Bravo shows and 90 Day fiancé around my Christmas movies. I’m actually watching one now while doing setups for tonight’s RHOA recap. 🙂 Anyway, last week, when I was bitching about my views and having a meltdown (um again) it apparently paled in comparison to what the Bravo suits were doing. RHOC which is sucking this season had P18-49 (DEMO) 0.35 – 1.084 MM Overall in ratings. That’s not shocking. What is shocking is RHOA’s ratings, P18-49 (DEMO) 0.38 – 1.189 MM Overall. RHOA only had 105,000 views more than RHOC. YIKES! The suits are freaking out. But also don’t have any plans for fresh new programming. Sigh.

RHOA Recap

High Drama & Holy Drama

We begin with Porsha back in Louisville continuing to protest for justice for Breanna Taylor. Each time she went to these protests, she had to quarantine before being allowed to film with her castmates again. I’m so glad that so far it seems like she didn’t lose any episodes for this. Bravo cameras did not go with her. Porsha got arrested again and was one of the people last released. She thinks that was deliberate.

Drew and Ralph’s family are making pancakes before Sunday service. That’s industrious! It was all I could do to roll out of bed and get dressed before church. There were no pancakes and we all had rumbling tummies during the sermon. After church let out, we raced the Methodists to the restaurants. On, they are not going to church. That is why they have time for breakfast. Drew’s mama is going to preach at home. Drew is offended by the sermon. It’s entitled “Bridle Your Tongue.” He feels the sermon is directed toward him. Mama needs to go home and let these two work on their marriage without her interference.

Far From Picture Perfect

Latoya drops by Kenya’s house. These two sure did team up in a hurry. I don’t get it. I do see this lasting. They are two huge drama queens and I don’t see them sharing that role for long. Plus, two of them is one too many. They immediately start dragging Drew for her “bad wig.” It’s childish. Latoya who is married wants to get on a dating app. She wants Kenya to do that too. Kenya says she is going to move forward with her divorce. That’s not true. She is going to try to establish custody though. They take photos for their dating site profiles.

Later, Kenya goes to visit Kandi. Kandi, Kenya and Cynthia all gained quite a bit of quarantine weight. So they are working out with a trainer on her basketball court. Kandi is getting ready to drive Riley to NYC for college. Cynthia tells the girls about her 250 person wedding. She thinks it is okay if the wedding is outdoors. Kandi advises Cynthia not to wait until the last minute to knock out their prenup. Kenya regrets not doing a prenup.

Breaking Up Is Hard To Do

Porsha and Lauren go to pick up Tanya. Is this the first time we have seen Tanya this season? They are going to one of Porsha’s friend’s Talynn who has a pool. First, they talk about quarantine. They all stay it started off like a honeymoon and then they all got irritated with their partners. Porsha is breaking up with Dennis. Where will she get her next hot dog? Suddenly we are talking about WAP. In details. Because, tacky. Then everyone gets pushed in the pool. Things take a sad turn when they talk about social justice.

Meanwhile, Drew and Ralph are buying a new house. As if they have nothing else to stress them out about, Ralph is trying to control everything. This isn’t really a good time to buy a house. so the next thing you know, they are off to couples therapy.

What was Eva thinking?

Wedding Drama

Cynthia and Mike go to the wedding venue in Acworth. I don’t know why Cynthia was so set on this venue. It’s really far from where Cynthia and everyone else live. At least to me. I guess it is about 40 minutes from her house and much longer for Nene and Kandi and Porsha. It would have been great if it had not rained. But then it became a super spreader event indoors. Mike just wants to make sure they get married on 10/10/2020. Cynthia is not sure if that is still possible. She’s pissed that her sister agrees with Mike that they need to make adjustments to marry on their wedding day. What she should have worried about was Eva’s hair.

Cynthia and Mike fight all the way home. Eventually, Mike just shuts off the cameras. Next week, it looks like a lot more screaming at each other.

I don’t understand why Cynthia was so determined to have the big-ass wedding. It’s her second Wedding by Bravo, and the last one, while at the foot of dinosaur skeletons was “different”, wasn’t exactly a pauper’s feast. What a fool.

I think she wanted a big wedding this time because last time she looked like she didn’t want to get married. When they were in Miami she broke down in tears at her own Bachelorette at the mere mention of her wedding.

I think she is really exciting about this one and wants a big wedding.

    Thanks for recapping!
So, they are worried about ratings… yet, the most compelling things for both OC and Atl are things the ladies filmed themselves. Emily reacting to Shane, something that you could feel and relate to. Porsha getting involved. It’s Porsha’s “awakening”, and not just to a social issue we all at least want to be a part of, but baby girl is a grown up now. It isn’t just Porsha’s world. Gets me right in the feels. Like a big sis watching the baby finally find her ground. And we don’t need production crews to get it.
I guess I’m saying, maybe it’s not the ladies.
Although, just thinking about Cynthia’s 10-10-2020 wedding makes my eyes roll like an involuntary twitch. Kenya too. We all already know how this plays out, so all her divorce angst eems phoney. Drew getting verbally abused by her husband is disturbing. I love Kandi, but even she seems bored.

I can understand the ratings downturn. With all that’s happened this year, I just can’t get into watching a bunch of women complain about their privilege lives. There’s just so much more going on. TT, your recaps are great. For 2020 that’s all I need.

It does all seem much more trite.
I’m ok with them airing how it affected them. I lost my job due to Covid . I work in the medical field. I had direct contact with patients and did not have quick access to testing for myself or proper PPE. There was a point i was going to patient’s homes. It was safer for them. The lab i worked for could not get hand sanitizer and there was nothing to be found at the stores here. Shannon from OC angers me. Ramona angers me. Those are the type of people who stock piled. Southern Charm is full of careless pampered brats. I don’t see the ATL ladies acting careless or even greedy. They are doing their job, which is to film for our entertainment. All the precautions production says they’re doing? That didn’t work at BH.
I lost my own job because we did not have anything in place for employee testing. I could not waltz in, ask for a test. Our area, high geriatric, was having to prioritize tests. So again, watching Shannon take multiple tests, not giving one thought to the fact that she was spreading it each freaking time. To me, that is privledge. Watching people get on with life in a new normal is ok in comparison. You take away the parties, the daily glam and ya know what, their life is just as mundane as mine. I’m gonna own it….that’s why it’s not as fun for me.

Thanks for the recap TT. Haven’t watched yet and not sure I will. I love watching “reality” TV to escape reality, but this is not escaping anymore. I watched people jump out of the twin towers on 9/11 and when they made a movie the following year, I was like this is way too soon… I lived it… No need to see it on screen. That’s how I’m feeling about this now. I will continue reading your recaps though. I’ve been a faithful reader of your site for years, but have only commented a few times.

I wonder if she chose that venue because the COVID restrictions in that area weren’t as strict as closer to Atlanta. Also why did I just realize Eva wore white to a wedding.

In general it sounds pretty boring and they should have waited until after the holidays to premiere

Eva was a bridesmaid. The bridal party wore white, the guests wore black. Cynthia wore a sort of blush colored gown with lots of silver embellishments.Mike wore a silver jacket. It was a black and white and silver them… with a pinch of gold.

TT thanks for your recaps because I tend to see things differently until you comment & I see your point as well ?. I’m not surprised with the viewership ⬇️ and mentioned that I heard that NBC ,BRAVO’s parent Co. was considering selling the Housewives Franchise. Have you heard anything? Rumor has it that they are hemorrhaging $$? big time! I figured if anybody has their ear to the ground it’s you!
Anyway this episode was lame. Porsha’s friends husband seems like her husband is a lot older than her. She’s an awesome host. Kenya as usual messy always taking women that she’s threaten by down. Drew is a very attractive woman with beautiful kids and her husband is too controlling. I sure hope she can work through that. Cynthia is acting like a drama queen. She’s been through this B4. These people not wearing masks or social distancing. There over here embracing each other, what the heck is wrong with these people? Gawd oh Mighty!! This Virus Kills!
    Peace ?

My source says Bravo doesn’t seem to get they are beating a dead housewives horse. They are still looking for new cities. The suits don’t seem to have any other ideas that interest them. They are not “selling the franchises” the franchises are dying on the vine. Bravo itself will go down unless they come up with new programming ideas. TLC is killing it and Bravo is crapping out.

People are dying and shutting their businesses. I don’t care about Cynthia’s second Bravo wedding to some guy whose name I would have to Google.

Only Potomac has kept my interest reality tv wise. I think after all that’s happened in 2020 I’m just knackered. I think I’d rather watch a show with Brooklynn, Mikey, Ace, Blaze and PJ in the playground than their mothers on the Bravo
Playground. I’m done with grown women arguing non stop.

The thing with the wedding irritates me. Yes, it would be lovely to have a wedding in a gorgeous location and have friends and family celebrate. However … it would be nice to see that the pandemic puts life in perspective. Like the priority being happily married and having a partner to weather the storm this year brought to everyone. I don’t blame Mike. If the date of 10-10-20 and the man mean that much, you get married. At a courthouse, by the lake or via Zoom. That’s what would matter to me. Would rather have a blow out to celebrate after we get through this horrible time. Celebrate having a partner who makes you happy … celebrate the return of some normalcy … celebrate surviving. It all seems trivial with COVID, BLM and the election nonsense. Let’s get back to what is important!!! My nephew cancelled his destination wedding got married in a simple ceremony because it was important that his partner became his wife in all these times of uncertainty. That is what matters!! I wouldn’t want to take a chance on one person being sick because I needed to “be a bride” on TV … AGAIN!!!

It’s the Housewives recipe that’s killing these shows. The producers have dwindled it down to:

    1. Rich girl problems
    2..Girl’s lunch/dinner, gossiping
    3. Girl’s lunch/dinner, fighting
    4. Girl’s trip, picking rooms, complaining who got the least luxurious room, drinking, fighting
5, Designer labels. “You look cute, no–you look cute.”
    6. A wedding, birthday party, baby shower, fighting
    7. Overseas trip, room arguments, drinking, fighting

I enjoy the show so much more when you get to see the cast at their best, at home, family meals and celebrations, charity events or PSAs they work on together and actually talking and working out differences like grown, rational people. I like the drama and the shade and little arguments here and there but for goodness sake, less IS more.

I watch mostly Atlanta and New Jersey. I go back to the early seasons and enjoy them so much more.

I wish Kenya could be the good girl. She should not have brought the subject of the wig up again after she said that in Cynthia’s kitchen. That Kandi and Cynthia are really not Kenya’s true friend. Cynthia is the one that betrayed Kenya when she went behind her back and told Tanya that Kenya was talking about her when Kenya didn’t even say her name. But, everyone in an uproar about Kenya spoiling Cynthia’s engagement. Hell truth be known Mike probably already told her. So Kandi ran back and told Porsha what Kenya said and got her disinvited to something.

Kenya had to grab a fresh HW to latch onto. Latoya was the best fit bc of her “marital” breakdown; this is what tethers them.

Trust & believe that middle aged Kenya has no interest in either of these ladies…..she just did what was best for her story line. Latoya and Drew had stronger parallels – they’re close in age, were/are in long term relationships that produced kids 7yrs and under. Latoya got swooped up.

Also I tend to agree with Nicole above when she notes that she doesn’t see that relationship going the distance. Mike has shown some overbearing tendencies on more than one occasion, and I think eventually they’ll lead to them separating, but then again Cynthia tends to like guys like that for example Peter.

Mike doesn’t come off as a grifter though so that’s in his favor for what that’s worth. But that’s a tiny bit like saying my husband isn’t an axe murderer so Imma stay with him I think.

I think I’m not interested because I’ve seen Cynthia get married in dramatic fashion already. I already am annoyed with her for wanting to expose herself all the time. Her modelling days have BEEN over.

My cousin got married in June. She is the youngest woman in the family. We watched via zoom because she said that no matter what, she was marrying her husband. All she wanted, if she couldn’t have everyone there, was for her parents to be there. I cant help but think that Mike is under the impression that Cynthia wants to get married for the fanfare and not for him.

I don’t care for Latoya. I’m Trinidadian with two very awesome Trinidadian brothers. Just because her and Kenya chose losers to marry doesn’t mean all Trini men are like that. Blame the men instead of their crappy instincts.

Besides Porsha, this season is kinda boring.

I agree. Porsha this season, is flat out boring, but then again she always has been.

And when I tune in only to hear her complaining that she was one of the last to be let out of prison it only clarifies in my mind that she’s trying to make the movement about her…Oh look at me I’m so important in this movement that they held me longer than just about everyone else. Alas, and alack, whoa is me.

But then again I guess we should be grateful that just a very short few years back she finally came to the knowledge that the Underground Railroad had nothing to do with trains so there is that I suppose.

Kandi’s family, including Momma Joyce would have been better leads for this franchise for this season. The dynamic between Kandi, Todd, Joyce, Kandi’s employees, and friends, and the business of running her businesses could have carried this season, instead we get tired narcissistic Porsha leveraging the BLM for personal gain, holding the giant peach.

I noticed a lot of people on my Twitter TL were also tweeting about 90 Day instead. She is such a downer! Now she is everywhere trying to get Bravo boycotted, but it is all about her treatment, not real problems. You know she will take credit when it all falls apart. Things have a cycle of popularity, the Housewives is mostly over. How many years can we stay interested in catfights and denied facelifts? They don’t show us what we really want. At least Vicki was honest about hers. Tamara, I don’t know how you manage to turn out interesting recaps, like making a “silk purse out of a sow’s ear”.
