Southern Charm Recap: Love Sick

December 10, 2020 by tamaratattles 68 Comments

Southern Charm RecapWe’ve known for a few episodes that John was single and ready to Pringle. Then week’s episode, Monumental Change was about more than just taking down a monument. It was about Madison getting ready to trade up. Though anyone is a trade up from Austen. Last week we found out Austen has Covid. It seems like all those nights out drinking at bars with no mask finally caught up with him. Also, as I told you in the previous Southern Charm recap, my sources say that despite being ready to call it quits after this season, the Bravo suits are very pleased with the feedback this season and another season seems “almost certain.” Huh? Maybe we just haven’t gotten to the good part yet?

Positively, Ridiculous

This show starts with Pringle calling Shep only to find out that everyone except for Shep is positive for Covid. His girlfriend is positive and going to stay with Craig and his girlfriend are also positive. And of course Austen is positive. Pringle asks about Madison of course he wants to know if she is still with Austen. Shep says he thinks she hooked up with Austen that last week but he’s not sure if they are still together. But what about the beer company?

Kathryn dropped off some supplies to Craig’s House of Covid and they talked through the window on the phone. At least now he has time to sew pillows, right? Speaking of pillows, his pillow are going to be on HSN next week! (show time, not real time) This is going to jar old Patricia’s grandma’s preserves. I guarantee it.

Southern Charm RecapStop Monkeying Around!

Kathryn has gone silent on social media since “the monkey incident.” Also, she wants to meet with Leva to get a lecture about the Calhoun statue  some advice about…um… how not to be racist? Meanwhile Leva and her friend have gone to watch the statue come down. I’m starting to find Leva’s level of involvement in this rather annoying. She is not a Charlestontonian nor is she black. Nor was she even born in America. Or raised in America. She is not the spokesperson for this cause. Sure, she can be happy about it for her sons. She can go watch it come down. But she needs to get off her high horse about it.

Venita comes to Madison’s house for a shoot on the porch with wine in a can and snacks. Venita is so beautiful! She needs a better agent. She should be high fashion modeling instead of a social media influencer. She might be too short though, it’s hard to tell. Madison has to quarantine for 14 days, because she slept with Austen, so her store is shutdown again. But so far she tests negative. Just to be safe, her son is with his father. Madison seems over Austen. The guys did a Zoom and apparently Shep’s girlfriend is mad he would not quarantine with her while she is positive. Um, why would anyone ask that of their boyfriend?

When Negative Is A Good Trait…

Danni takes her dog on a play date with Shep’s dog. While the dogs play they talk through Shep’s window. Danni gets caught up on who is positive. Shep tells Danni that his girlfriend was mad that Shep didn’t have it. Danni tells Shep that Kathryn wants to talk to Leva about her social media crisis. She has not reached out to Danni. Kathryn doesn’t even know Leva! No one does except for Cam.

Kathryn calls Leva and wants to go to lunch. Leva wants to do Facetime instead. And then the lecture from Leva is delivered that way. Leva came on the show hating Kathryn because she is friends with Cameron. Leva tells Kathryn she needs to get in touch with Danni and nurture that relationship. I miss Charleston. It’s one of my favorite cities in the world. It 14 days after everyone tested positive and they have all tested negative. Craig as well as Shep’s girlfriend still seem a bit weak and frail though. And Shep’s girlfriend, Taylor, seems to have figured out in these two weeks that Shep is all about Shep.

This whole episode has shown us a lot of Pringle being a good dad. Finally, Madison comes to meet Pringle and his sons. She brings her son too. It’s a cute play date. Pringle makes his move on Madison. He points out their relationship is volatile. He’s laying the groundwork with his “look what a good dad I am” playdate. And it really seems like he is.

Southern Charm RecapPillow Fights

It’s time for Craig’s big debut on HSN and he is nervous. His pillows look amazing though. He had some really cute Christmas ones this year with the old timey pickup trucks (ahem like Hallmark merch) and they sold out immediately. We get Patricia and Whitney in on this episode buy filming them watching Craig live on HSN. I knew it. Patricia is peeved by Craig’s success. She seems to think that she is superior to him because, “he only has pillows.” The dude sells a ton of pillows. How many rayon dog muu muus do you reckon ole Patricia is selling? Remind me what else she has? Actually, don’t. Oh, of course she is going to tell us. She’s selling “high end home goods.”

Why is Leva trying to break up Danni and Kathryn? She seems to think she is the authority on all of these people’s lives. Meanwhile, Madison just happens to look fantastic from head to toe, in a perfectly clean house and wine and a board of appetizers ready when Austen wants to stop by to film the breakup scene. Madison goes all in on him. She says she is moving forward and he is moving ass backwards. She cries. He begs. She stands strong. It’s over. She throws him out with a thank you for coming. There is no hug goodbye. She does not walk him out.

Kathryn is late to Danni’s house. Leva calls to get Danni all worked up about Kathryn before she comes there. It works. Especially because Kathryn came in a complete hot mess with one broken shoe and one on her foot. The whole scene was bizarre. Something is wrong with Kathryn.

I can understand why Danni would be upset with Kathryn for being insensitive and taking Danni’s friendship for granted. But how long has Danni known Leva? Maybe the timing was right, but I didn’t understand why Danni so quickly agreed with Leva’s criticisms of their friendship? It looked like Danni is being taken advantage of/manipulated by Leva. Who either has an agenda or is working very hard to become the central character on the show? That strategy definitely worked for Madison.

It looks like she has already taken over the show. I’d rather have the Patricia, the know it all buttiinski and lecturer that we have had since the beginning. At least she knows everyone by now.

I was so over Leva after the first episode. She is preachy and self righteous with no evidence in sight to justify her being so. I’d be so overjoyed to see her gone from the show. Nauseating beyond words.

Charleston is all about its history. I mean the Civil War started there. Why should you be surprised if you go there and it’s about the Confederates? You cannot even be buried in a church graveyard there unless your family has been there 5 generations. Others go across the street to the cemetery. Okay, so knowing that, WHY if Bravo wanted to make this about diversity, wouldn’t they bring and OLD TIME black family onto the show? Why a Persian? It makes no sense for the show and they are reaching so hard to make her relevant. I live in the Bay Area where it’s ALL immigrants and I don’t care ONE iota what color/race/religion someone is, but she is not relevant to the theme of the show. Nor is she interesting while she’s teaching us all her version of history. Find a descendent from a slave’s family and let HER or HIM school us. It’s an important topic just not from her.

Kathryn dated a really hot black guy for a moment. His last name is Ravenell (slightly different spelling). It is probable that he was a descent of slaves of the Ravenels. He MIGHT have been one of the original newbies in the original first episode that Bravo rejected outright and made them start over. Maybe he was and he didn’t want to be bothered with “educating the white people.” Something the Iranian seems to have no problem with. It’s clear that on the eleventy billionth restart of Southern Charm the statue was coming down and none of the regulars wanted to get involved in all of that. So they tapped the Iranian with black children.

I’m over Leva. She did a quick google to get all that info on Kathryn’s family. She is taking too much joy in shaming her for her history because of what she said about Cam. I dont think she should have been the voice of reason. I’m fine with the statue coming down, but Leva just seems motivated by other things. Also, why havent they talked about shep and Austen’s homeless person video? They talk about everything Kathryn does off screen, but we continue to just overlook the guys.

Leva is on the wrong show, she needs to leave Southern Charm. Bravo needs to place her on Shahs of Sunset with her look alike MJ, then maybe she’ll be happier. Something is wrong with Danni. She appears to be overly depressed and anorexia. When she asked Kathryn what was wrong with her eye, she should’ve looked in the mirror and saw that one of her own eye looked smaller and half way closed, maybe that’s why she had a hard time focusing on Kathryn’s eyes.

She is Iranian and was born in India, but spent her years growing up in Canada and Bolivia. She has lived here under ten years. She got married in 1993. I was just having this convo on Twitter. I am looking to retire overseas. I cannot imagine living there for a few years and then going on TV as the spokesperson for the history of whatever country I land in. It’s just revolting and takes such hubris. Especially from someone from a country when everyone from Iran escaped to come live here the called themselves Persians because they were/are still embarrassed and/or afraid to say they were from Iran.

Madison and Austen Dani looks anorexic and unwell and her voice is shaky. What’s going on with her? Kathryn is clueless and on something. Patricia jealous of Craig? What’s wrong with this woman who can’t be happy for someone else? Why does she think she is the doyenne of Bravo and be all and end all of anything? High end goods?

But my biggest one remains who are all these people giving Bravo positive feedback? Y’all need to go sign up for that Bravo insider thing or whatever. I did that a hundred years ago and if it is the same thing they ask your opinions on everyone on a particular show and things like that. Because whoever is doing it now are morons.

I agree with most of you, Leva is trying to take the show over. She is a trouble maker. Who died & made her the arbiter of truth? LMAO 🤣 She was born in India & raised in Canada! Don’t get where the Persian comes in but not interested. I believe she’s fake and she reminds me of MJ from the Shahs of Sunset! She’s hell bent on dividing the friendship between Danni & Kathryn. It’s disturbing that a person can be so dark! It’s pitiful. As for Madison I would not waste my time with any of these losers. That Pringle guy is a douche as well 🙄! Scarlett O’Hara (Patricia) that lives in that museum, OMG everytime she rings that bell 🔔! I just want to ring her neck!😂 She’s exhausting! 😬 What the hell is wrong with Bravo! That is so crazy!! I have never cared for that woman!! She represents a certain stereotype in many peoples minds, and not in a good way. Bravo is so preoccupied with diversity in their shows well, this is not a good look. I know that Whitney her son is the producer but rumors are that some of these shows are being sold to other Companies. TT I’m sure you know or have heard something. They’re saying that some of these shows viewership is really down. 🤔 We shall see. Peace 🙏

Whitney hasn’t been a producer on this show for a long time. If he is on the cast, he can’t be a producer. He can have “producer credits” but he doesn’t have any pull as long as he is on the show. He can swing a better room than the peons when they go on a trip but that is about it.

When we were watching last night I said to my husband that Madison’s friend should be a model if she’s tall enough! Leva comes off as such a know it all and I’d like to think she has decent intentions but I agree she REALLY doesn’t want Dani to be friends with Kathryn. Dani is so fragile in this moment. She’s smart and tough but clearly fragile. She’s going through something and I don’t like this storyline. Kathryn seemed drunk or something when she showed up to Danni’s house. Also, I can’t get out of my head that Leva is best friends with Cameron who had to have had some knowledge of Thomas’s past indiscretions and yet continued to push the narrative that Kathryn was using him or trapping him etc. I feel like when Cam bailed she handed Leva a playbook on how to become the narrator.

I cannot imagine any American NOT speaking up about things they find wrong in other countries, from just visiting to living. How can you question a woman’s right to speak intelligently on social issues that directly affect her family in the place she calls home? You think it’s so appalling of her to point out historical facts to people on a show where she is supposed to share her life? You need to take a page out of Danni’s book and just listen. The show has never represented the actual demographic of it’s namesake and now you have someone who’s lived there this whole time the series has been on and known cast members to some degree and you vilify her like this? Is it her fault no other cast members besides Danni came to the BLM event? Of course she’s going to speak about something that going on that has directly to do with other members of the show, especially when she’s one of the few to show up. She can speak about it because she was there. She was there with Danni and their friends listening to people who were direct descendants of the VP and from elected positions. She was echoing their sentiments and more importantly, if she hadn’t gone there and invited people to go there, Bravo would not have filmed it and those protestors and educators would not have been on the show period. I find it annoying that since there is finally a POC on the show as a cast member and blogs like this give her absolutely no slack. No understanding a appreciation of the situation she’s in and where she’s coming from. Is it easy to speak on on things that others are staggeringly ignorant about and not sound preachy? Hell no. The city should know it’s history. The show has some responsibility to show some level of reality when it’s happening right in front of their/our faces. Saying things like “she wasn’t born here so she can’t speak on this stuff” is an appalling thing to say. Especially if your argument is based so heavily in leaving the past in the past and focusing on the present. I mean, Leva is presently a human being speaking her mind on her surroundings. Does she really anything more to have that right?

Also, what universe are we living in where a model HAS to be tall? That woman is beyond gorgeous.

” The city should know it’s history.” Your assumption that Charlestonians (of which Leva is not) do not know their history and need an Iranian transplant to explain it to them is the appalling part you seem to be missing. It’s great that she went to see the statue come down and somehow thought that the removal of a statue would somehow make her sons safer. Leva is a Charleston outsider and no expert on the history of Charleston. Same with Patricia. And Craig. Kathryn is a DESCENDENT of Calhoun. Charlestonians are steeped in history. It is the basis of everything they do. You seem to think that Leva has arrived to educate “the staggeringly ignorant” people who go back multiple generations in Charleston and/or SC. There is a reason that no one went with Leva other than her random friend. Her reaction was… insincere. And BELIEVE ME, she didn’t DECIDE to get all into the statue removal. PRODUCTION SENT HER THERE BECAUSE NO ONE ELSE WOULD GO.

And the fact that you don’t know that high fashion models have to be over 5’9″ appears to be another area that you are staggeringly ignorant in. Thanks for stopping by. Let me know if you need help finding the exit.

Thank you, TT. The arrogance of someone who would actually think it’s ok travel to or live in another country and “Splain reality” to the people living in that country is truly staggering (the “I cannot imagine any American” statement).
The individual clearly lacks critical reading skills- what many here have been saying is that speaking for another culture/ethnic group is white (or Iranian, or any culture that is not Black) SUPREMECY in it’s most ignorant/arrogant form (or in this case, an Iranian person who married a Black person acting as though she herself speaks for the Black perspective because she married into it).
To do that is incredibly disrespectful, and if the poster had actually ever had a real conversation with a Black person (ever) about this issue, they would have some understanding of how this is not welcome on any level.
It’s very easy to try to cancel people, and the previous poster has tried to do here when you don’t want to bother to understand what they are really saying (and lack critical reading skills)- and again, thank you!!!

I don’t get the Leva hate, I applaud any efforts by bravo to bring in diversity to this cast and show. She is married to a black man and has a black son living in America so I think she’s got every right to be a strong advocate for justice and equality here. I also think she’s doing a great job of pointing out what those statues and names really represent and doing it with grace considering she’s teaching white people who are supposedly Charleston natives things they seem to be clueless over. And she’s certainly got a lot more going on for a storyline then Cam ever did on this show the entire time so thanks to Cam for bringing her into the show. I’d certainly swap any scenes of sweaty Thomas Ravenel for more screen time with her and her gorgeous family!!

Can you imagine yourself moving to another country and then going on TV and explaining that countries history to its own people???? That really makes sense to you?

It’s kind of like Patricia, who is not even southern coming on pretending to be southern for all those many seasons. And then she goes on WWHL and says she had to read up on who John Calhoun was. It seemed like people kept saying he was trying to reinstate slavery. HE DIED IN 1850! Over a decade BEFORE slavery was abolished. The entire south was against abolishing slavery and it was a new concept at that time.

I think doubt that SC take down the statue of their VP of the US nearly TWO HUNDRED YEARS AGO is going to do anything to mend the racial divide in 2020. We shouldn’t wipe out history just because we have evolved. Nearly 200 years ago there were slaves in the south. Nearly 200 years ago they worked on plantations and farms. Plantations are where we grow cotton, tea, etc to this day. Plantations are now somehow bad? Are farms bad too? It’s insanity.

Leva squealing like a stuck pick when the statue came down was bizarre. It was camera hogging. It does NOT THING to move BLM forward. It does nothing to stop police in 2020 for killing black men on a daily basis. It is a historical statue of a man who DIED 170 years ago. It’s been in the park for… as long as I can remember and you can’t even really see the statue unless you are far away. No one even paid attention to who the statue was. All most people knew, if they knew anything was he was one of the first vice presidents. End of knowledge.

And the sudden hatred of modern plantations is bizarre.I’m not sure if it is even still there anymore but the only tea plantation in the US used to be in Charleston. They grew tea, southerns like tea, it was good tea. Locally grown. Lots of jobs for the area. Not sure it is there anymore, maybe it is. But there were no slaves working there.

I’m agitated that people would rather focus on 1850 than 2020. We can’t do anything about the horrific racism of 200 years ago. And eventually people put an end of the political beliefs of people like Calhoun. But IN MY OPINION, in 2020 we need to do something about POLICEMEN RANDOMLY KILLING BLACK PEOPLE FOR NO FUCKING REASON. We need to do something about CURRENT US PRESIDENTS WHO LOCK BROWN PARENTS AND CHILDREN IN CAGES. WE NEED TO FIX THE THINGS THAT THIS GENERATION WILL HAVE TO BE KNOW FOR 200 YEARS FROM NOW. AND ADDRESS GLOBAL WARMING SO THERE WILL STILL BE PEOPLE TO BE APPALLED BY US 200 YEARS FROM NOW.

Does anyone think that this century will be seen in any sort of better light than we look at Calhoun now in 200 years? Have we really made that much progress? Think on that.

We’ve got a lot more to worry about right now than taking down historical monuments and renaming bands to appease people.

          Here is just TODAY’s list.

Dozens of Trump supporters, some armed, went to the home of Jocelyn Benson, Michigan’s Democratic secretary of state, and began shouting obscenities.

On Twitter, Trump supporters have posted photographs of the home of Ann Jacobs, a Wisconsin official, and mentioned her children.

In Phoenix, about 100 Trump supporters, some armed, protested at the building where officials were counting votes.

In Vermont, officials received a voice message threatening them with “execution by firing squad.”

Seth Bluestein, a Philadelphia official, received anti-Semitic and violent threats after Pam Bondi, a Trump ally, publicly mentioned him.

A Georgia poll worker went into hiding after a viral video falsely claimed he had discarded ballots.

Brad Raffensperger, Georgia’s Republican secretary of state, and his wife have received death threats, including by text message, and caravans have circled their house.

Gabriel Sterling, another Georgia official, received a message wishing him a happy birthday and saying it would be his last.

WE HAVE A BIGGER SITUATION HERE THAT RENAMING MILITARY BASES AND TAKING DOWN STATUES WILL HAVE NO EFFECT ON.

I agree with everything you said. It is part of our history. We take the bad with the good. Instead of hiding it away in a museum frequented mostly by tourists why the heck do we not have it all out there to see – to see where we went wrong and forever be reminded never to do it again. And the moron that brings up Nazi Germany and makes comparisons needs to STFU. The Nazis annihilated millions of people for no good reason other than their sense of superiority over them. You cannot equate slavery, horrific and revolting as it is, with mass genicide.

And yesterday somebody got out of their car in Atlanta to beat the shit out of a guy at a Democratic get out the vote rally. His crime? Holding Osoff/Warnock signs. Busted his head open pretty good.

Real cute. What a cult this is. Oh, and my neighbor gave me so lovely Christmas cookies while informing me that Biden was going to get arrested so that the radical leftist Harris could take over and…something? There was some other stuff but I was just speechless. Cookies were good.

Oh, I remember!! Covid is fake. My best friend’s mom is lying in ICU right now with it. 82 years old. Sad part is she, her husband and 3 of their neighbors all have it, living in a small town, very much Trump supporters who believed it all to be a hoax and no big deal. If they get it, they get over it like he did, right? Heartbreaking.

Oh! And one of the little county facebook pages is FULL of people that believe voter fraud kept Trump out of office. So, so many people that are intellectually dishonest or flat out stupid. We are getting inundated with mail ads and absentee ballot requests from varous organizations, both sides. These people are CONVINCED they are being mailed ballots. Hundreds and hundreds of comments all saying the same thing. It’s something else. Trump claimed vote fraud when he didn’t win an Emmy for the Apprentice. Open your eyes!!!

Ballots in suitcases in Fulton county. So, so much evidence to the contrary, hours of videotaple to prove it’s untrue. But that is fake news. I don’t want to live in this timeline.

I thought I was the only one who didn’t worship Patricia. When she went after Craig last night, that made it worse. But the original reason I can’t stand her is she is an ADULT grown woman and Kathryn was being abused by an adult sociopath when she was barely and adult and Patricia sided with the sociopath.

I disagree. Leva only works as a foil for Cam and without Cam she is miscast. the person who would have worked for the new role is Madison from Gwynn’s. Instead we still have an all-white cast black-splaining for us what black people are experiencing instead of hearing actual black’s voices. In my opinion and it’s only my opinion, I don’t want to get banned.

I couldn’t agree more with your comment. Leva has actually been in background scenes on the show in previous seasons. She has bee friends with Craig , Danni and others for years according to Craig. I find her refreshing and down to earth.

i 100% agree. she’s getting a little too much screen time, but i’m not bothered by it.. I also understand it’s production pushing a narrative, and she is the new narrator.. kathryn is dumb as rocks and i’m kinda fucking annoyed she’s still on the show. before the season started, i was over it. now i’m here for it and confused lol i can’t sleep right now so i’m actually gonna turn it on.

I don’t mind Leva as much as you all do. I think Bravo wanted to highlight what was happening during filming and they couldn’t exactly send Patricia, Shep, or Kathryn to celebrate the statute coming down. They also probably wanted someone to take Kathryn to task for her racist behavior as people online were outraged. Bravo seems to conveniently be adding one person of color to each of their shows now, after years of people asking for diversity falling on deaf years.

Also Danni looks super unwell. I hope she has real friends outside of this group to look out for her.

I’m pretty sure Madison got Kathryn’s job at Gwynns. And The really pretty black girl has her own social media influencer job. (and that pays way more than Gwynns) . I just to spend a lot of time in Mt Pleasant BACK IN THE DAY lol ad Gwynns wasn’t a high end store. It was lovely, and had nice things but it wasn’t super designery. Apparently it is much more expensive now?

I had hoped for Leva in the first episode, but things have gone way downhill since. It’s human nature to tune out people who are so self-righteous and “preachy” after a while, even if you can agree with some of what they espouse. I also think that the intense energy that some groups are putting into destroying the symbolism (tearing down statues, renaming things, etc.) should be put into solving the very real problems of TODAY.
I do get the perspective that statues, etc. are “honoring” the people they represent, so I understand the emotion behind getting rid of that kind of symbolism, however, solving the REAL problems of 2020 takes a lot more than just emotion and the public “shows” of tearing down a statue .
Actually “doing the work” takes years of commitment, the ability to work with people, grit, and cool-headed strategy.
Sometimes I think that for some, especially some of the immature, non-Black “posers” involved in some of this stuff, it’s a lot easier to make a big show of tearing down statues, screaming and yelling, etc., then it is to roll up sleeves and commit to the years of REAL work it takes to actually change the world and people’s lives. Affecting real change takes diligent, day to day, actual WORK (and maturity, and a lot of patience 😊).
Certainly not all, but many who engage in the statue destroying, etc. are immature, caught up in the emotions and the “coolness” of the movement- “virtue signalers” if you will. They can tear down a statue here and there, go on a few marches, scream and yell and post on Instagram, Blacksplain, etc., then go back to their regular lives.

For me, the jury’s still out on Leva. She runs her mouth a lot (which is plucking my last nerve), but does she truly “walk the walk” (do more than pose)? She does need to stop speaking for Black people.

Perhaps Leva is speaking about Charleston’s history with slavery and the current BLM movement because no one else in the cast would? Perhaps the producers asked her pointed questions and suggested she attend the statue being removed?

Let’s be real, who else on the Southern Charm cast would able to speak on those subjects with any type of sincerity or empathy?

So yeah it’s weird for a person who is not born in the US providing a narration on the subject of race relations in the US, but it’s a reality TV show that stars a bunch of idiots. The previous voices of reason left the show (Cam, Chelsea and Naomi) so they worked with what they had, Leva.

I agree, Leva is a bit preachy, but I prefer that to them ignoring what was happening in their city and no one holding Kathryn accountable for her actions on social media. Because if it were up to the rest of the cast they would just say, Kathryn is not racist (as Craig did) and that would be the end of it.

Also, i didn’t get vibes from Leva that she was trying to break up the friendship between Dani and Kathryn. Dani has always been exasperated with Kathryn’s behaviour. She has spoken to Shep about this on every single season. I think Leva is just responding to what Dani has told her in the past – save your mental energy, don’t waste it on Kathryn because she is an energy vampire.

But we can agree to disagree. I watch the show with my lens which colours my interpretation of what was presented as I assume all viewers of the show do.

But I do agree that they need to not renew southern charm. It’s lost what “charm” it had.

I’m a bit taken aback by all the hate for Leva. First of all, I don’t understand the argument at all that she can’t have strong opinions on these matters because wasn’t born or raised here. She lives here now and is raising a black son here—of course, she is passionate about it! I think she brings something very needed to the show. I also like the contrast between the women on the show having real discussions on important issues, while the boys are still focused on partying and getting laid (although I am happy Craig is having success). Kind of reminds me of the “breakup bunch” season when it was all about girl power…one of my favorite seasons. Anyway, that’s just my opinion.

Fact: Leva is not black. So when Leva is lecturing others she is speaking based on her privilege not her experience. black people don’t have to explain what it is like to be black but if they want to on a reality show, their choice. but a non-black person lecturing black people (last episode not this one) is distasteful. it’s indicative that all the production and editing is white.

I’m actually on board with Leva, her husband and son are black this is a cause close to her heart and she is also of BAME origin herself and has experienced direct discrimination in the US because of her ethnicity and because she chose to date and then marry a black man. Her voice and experiences are valuable. What is also telling is the lack of black main cast members to give their perspectives, she is being used by production as a gateway to the non-white privilege side of Charleston which had not been represented on the show at all up to now.

Leva is ridiculous. Katherine is not a mean person, but Leva is.
Who is Leva to go to parties and call out Katherine?
Katherine has already lost her job and has had her mistakes pointed out.
Does Leva need to drag this into the ground?
Katherine is feeling bad. Leva is a troublemaker.
She needs to knock it off.
