Hey, it’s Cho and unfortunately, I am NOT back with another Survivor recap today. Under normal circumstances, we would be talking about hidden immunity idols, dumb strategic moves, plot twists, villainous contestants and how Jeff Probst has maintained his youthful appearance all these years. Unfortunately, the year 2020 has been anything but normal. We’re currently in the midst of one of the most devastating pandemics to date. Its effect has been widespread internationally, and Survivor is one of its many victims.
Survivor: The Caribbean Islands?!
According to reports from my friends at Surviving Tribal from Fansided, CBS had to halt production for seasons 41 & 42 amidst Miss Rona beginning her reign on society as we know it. They aren’t even slated to begin production until April of 2021. Despite filming in Fiji for the past 4 years, CBS is desperate to get back on track with scheduling. Media is reporting that the Dominican Republic could serve as a backup in case things in Fiji don’t work out this spring. Secretly not so secretly, I’m hoping that things DON’T work out in Fiji as Survivor could use a change in scenery. Let me know in the comment section if you’d love to see Survivor in the Caribbean?!
What To Do While You Wait?
Well to start, you could be tuning in to The Amazing Race which luckily already had a season in the can and ready to go. For some reason, people always tell me that they want to do TAR with me. This is despite the fact that I’m not well-traveled and when I do travel, I tend to get really grumpy in the airports and vehicles. I would probably be a major drama queen. Really, I’m only medium-maintenance. Ok, maybe I’d make a great contestant on TAR???
Also, there is some good news amidst this global pandemic: SURVIVOR IS ON HULU! And when I say Survivor is on Hulu, I mean Survivor. Is. On. Hulu! Like, 34 seasons out of the 40 that exists! I can’t tell you how incredible that is. I guess the big time execs know that everyone’s unemployed and at home with nothing to do, so they blessed us with this mega release. So get to watching those older seasons that you missed or just would love to rewatch! I’ve got my eye on Season 15 China!
Keep Up With Cho During The Off Season!
Lastly, you could stay up to date with what is happening in my life! My auntie Tamara and I stay in contact on a semi regular basis, but I’ve been really busy with lots of online projects. I’d love for you to stop by my blog and support me there. My intention is to empower people to make better purchasing decisions when it comes to skincare, gaming and general lifestyle purchases. I think you’ll find value in my website. I may also have a major Cho Does Home Reno post coming up by the end of this year! Instagram or Twitter are also the best places to reach me if you require immediate access to my attention. Now tell me, what are your thoughts on Survivor’s current state?
And a bit of Purple Pen… Cho has gone blonde! What do we think?
AHHHH YES I forgot the most important update: I’m blonde!! Hopefully it’s NOT giving you Nene energy! hahaa I wouldn’t want to be compared to her!
CHO!!! You look fabulous! Do blondes have more fun? Thank you so much for posting, heading over to your blog now! Hope all is wonderful with you.
Kyle I adore and miss you. I really will endeavor to check in here more often with my auntie’s community. You guys are the best.
Blondes DO have more fun. I even love my black roots coming in. It’s an unpolished look that I’m digging a lot right now. The first time I’ve ever died my hair too!
Thanks for supporting me with visiting my blog! I’ve worked really hard on it!
That would be great to see Survivor in the Caribbean instead of Fiji definitely needs a change of scenery
Thanks for the comment, Joe! Frankly, I think we’re all tired of Fiji. “Back in the day”, the theme was heavily focused on the location and its culture. Think China, Pearl Islands, Guatemala, Australia etc etc! It truly added a unique element that differentiated every season.
I think they’ve gotten lazy because Fiji is easy to film on and the weather isn’t as dangerous as the other locations.
Blonde looks great! Looking forward to your reno project.
Thanks a lot! I love the blonde hair. Surprisingly, it feels really natural. I got used to it almost immediately.
Wish the producers would have been more inventive.
I would have been happy if they rented some sleepaway camp that was shutdown over the summer and filmed a Survivor season in the woods there.
I agree. I feel like this was the time for them to be super innovative. Wouldn’t it have been interesting to do some type of filming here in the U.S.? Something more land-based perhaps? I’m unsure, but I do think this was a missed opportunity.
I’m so mad at Survivor I can hardly comment! Helllooooo, British Baking Show figured out how to film along with Big Brother. Survivor has the perfect premise to safely film! Grrrrr. And to hell with the tropics. Film in the Grand Canyon or the Mohave. Historical pandemics are the time to think outside of the worlds greatest sociological experiment box right?
The Amazing Race is well, AMAZING. I want to watch earlier seasons.
omg you’re totally right! I feel like they really missed an opportunity to be innovative and figure something out. Now was the time to try something different without fear of failure. People would understand with it being a pandemic…
The survivors are already on a “desert island,” so it seems that it would be the easiest show to make adjustments. Put people in separate rooms for two weeks, then monitor. They don’t need to be expensive rooms, just decent. So they’d rack up a little extra charges for the rooms — it’s got to be reasonably inexpensive.
After that, it’s just keeping production physically distanced from the survivors. Or, better yet, separate them for two weeks.
SUCK IT UP, SURVIVOR!
We don’t want a Big Brother remake! lol
Cho you look amazing blonde! My hair is currently purple! I also cut my long bob into a pixie which I regretted immediately. Not because I don’t look good with short hair, but because it is Seahawk season and I could have dyed my long hair blue and lime! Stay healthy and sane, look forward to Survivor returning and reading your take on it.
omg Superfly I’ve missed you! :'( Thank you for the compliments. Purple is my favorite color so I’m sure it looks fantastic on you. I’ve thought about going dark purple It would be subtle but I think cool.
Hope you’ve been doing well lately?
Would love to watch Survivor in the Caribbean.
Really missing the show. Have been a fan since the first show. Haven’t missed one!
I am definitely checking out the old episodes on Hulu. Thanks
Hey Denise, thanks for replying. I’m glad to have other super fans like you. I’m definitely going to start rewatching China. I liked the winner of that season but also the journey of several of the contestants.
Hope you’ve been well!
WTH. Survivor CAN be filmed elsewhere!!! Dominican Republic can use the money and publicity. I agree with filming in the Grand Canyon versus letting it lapse another 6 months. Great way to lose viewers for a show that has broken records for viewer. They’re really killing the show by postponing it with excuse after excuse. As much as I loved Survivor I have no intention of watching old clips from Jeff’s house. Unless he serves wine….then I’ll watch it at Jeff’s house….
Rita I totally understand your frustration. The entertainment space is fickle and highly competitive. I don’t see why they thought this calculated risk would pay off. They should have definitely MADE IT WORK somehow.
Hi Cho!!
The blond is fierce!
Work it!
Thank you so much Emmet!! It was such a big risk for me. If you check out my instagram page, you’ll see that I usually keep a pretty short and boring hairstyle. I was just wanting to try something new! It is 2020 for crying out loud.
Hi Cho!
First, I must tell you that I’m “old” so if some of my responses and/or lingo is outdated then you’ll know why.
The color of your hair is gorgeous and it compliments your skin-tone; end results…..””stunning!””
Survivor is my all-time favorite show! Family & friends know they are NOT to call or bother me when Survivor is on. With that said, I appreciate you relaying any and all info regarding Survivor! You don’t sugarcoat the facts, you simple give it to us straight.
Please keep up the great work, my dear!
Be safe.

Omg thank you so much for your thoughtful comment! It was such a risk dying my hair. I had never done it before, so I was super nervous.
You’re just like me. Watching Survivor is a SACRED practice. Everyone knows how serious I take it. I’m happy you like my reporting. I will do my best to give you more information as I get it.
How were your holidays?
Please anywhere but Fiji . . . they need to shake it up a bit. Remember when they had Australia, Africa…now all we get is Fiji.
I totally know what you mean, Cindy! The different locations used to make me get even more excited. Guessing where they would go next. Figuring out the cultural significance throughout each season. It was great.
Fiji is tired, old and used up.
Why the hell are we hating on Fiji? I think we should all take the next available flight to Figi? My house is literally trying to commit suicide. My bathroom is underwater.
