On this Thanksgiving, I am even more thankful for you guys, my virtual family, who is always around twenty-four hours a day. We’ve been through a lot this year. Many of you have lost family members and pets. Some of you have dealt with loved ones in ICU for for months who thankfully pulled through. We’ve all struggled with anxiety, and adjusting to wearing masks wherever we go. To staying at home, many of us alone. We’ve helped each other get essential items. We’ve prayed for each other. And most importantly, we are all still here keeping on, keeping on. So let’s make this very odd Thanksgiving the best it can be.
I had visions of grandeur for today. I have some cooking to do. Last night, when I went to bed, I was all ready for today. I didn’t see a single fruit fly! My drains had all been cleaned twice, and the kitchen sink was all plugged up. When I opened my eyes on the living room couch today, the first thing I saw was a fruit fly. Argh. They are still here. Then, I realized that I woke up with some really sharp stomach pains. Then came several mad dashes to the restroom. I have no idea what happened. I didn’t eat much of anything yesterday other than Chex Mix and oreos. Thankfully on one of my last grocery shops I bought a mini medicine cabinet…bandaids, antibiotic ointment, cough/cold medicine, and Pepto Bismol. I almost never take OTC meds especially Pepto Bismol but I was VERY thankful for it this morning. I’m almost ready to go start cooking. I just have a few gnat to squirt with bleach first. Le sigh.
I was up for the Thanksgiving parade this morning and it was horrible I went straight to my Lifetime movies. What are y’all watching today? I’m back on track now and ready to start chopping my celery and onions and peeling my sweet potatoes and getting this house smelling like Thanksgiving. My Thanksgiving prayer for all of you is that you are able to make the best of this day and forget about all the anxiety, disappointment, grief or depression you are feeling and be grateful we are all still here for this day of thanks.
P.S. Now I’m gonna go kill me some freakin’ fruit flies.
P.P.S Apologies to Canada for forgetting about Canadian Thanksgiving this year. There was a lot going on in 2020. 🙂
