Y’all I’ve been up for about 12 hours. My time schedule almost straightened out there for a bit, and then it went right back to Crazy Town. As I was writing about this, something happened that finally made me take a shower. I’m not feeling well. Let’s leave it at that. Prior to the forced shower, I was reading at a site about famous chefs while watching my stockpile of Guy’s Grocery Games. And there was a lot in there about cars. They talked about the rich chefs’ first cars and the cars they drive now. And for some reason I thought this would be a good jumping off point for a new discussion forum.
The very first car I got to drive was my older brother’s … Dodge Duster? Is that a thing? It’s the car my brother drove while we were overseas and he was in college. He’d graduated a bazillion years before it was in our driveway. But, it was a car, and I was fine with it. And then it went to car heaven or whatever. Then, I drove my parents eleventy billion years old station wagon. I remember stalking my Methodist boyfriend in DOWNTOWN ATLANTA when I was barely old enough to drive because he was supposed to be at the Methodist thingamagig in DOWNTOWN ATLANTA. It needed steering grease or whatever and was not safe at any speed.
Then Things Took A Wrong Turn…
I’d barely learned how to drive and ended up in the part of Atlanta where the female prostitutes were not genetically female. I wasn’t really sure what was happening but it was then I realized that I was alone and would not be able to sneak into the Easter/Christmas/Whatever pageant it was and I was terribly lost. This was the boy I lost my virginity to… and sort of set the tone for my future relationships.
I have a feeling my all knowing mother found out about this excursion somehow because soon thereafter the ancient station wagon was gone and we had a new “third car” a brand new honda civic. Since then, I’ve driven nothing else except for a Mazda Protege, it was a stick shift and the best car I ever owned. That is what I will buy if I ever have another. It had the best pick up and I hate to merge onto the Interstate in my Honda. Yes, I now still drive a Honda. I bought it in 2007 and it has 25,000 miles on in in 13 years. They never believe it when I go for emissions testing. lol. My insurance company is also confused.
So what was your first car and what do you drive now? Got any interesting car stories? Or just talk amongst yourselves about whatever. I’m going to have to sleep soon. 🙁 Sunday nights are super busy.
