Election Day: Open Forum

November 3, 2020 by tamaratattles 194 Comments

Well, election day is finally here. I am trying to hold off on the wine for a few more hours, but my nerves are already frayed. It’s going to be a long and exhausting night. The New York Times is already warning us to expect a lot of disinformation tonight, mostly from Trump. So basically like every other day with him.

The NYT says:

The earliest meaningful results. They will arrive shortly after 7 p.m., after polls close in much of Florida and Georgia. Thirty minutes later, North Carolina’s polls also close. Those three states are worth watching for two reasons: First, if Joe Biden wins any of the three, he becomes an overwhelming favorite to win the presidency. Second, the three seem likely to count votes in a more easily decipherable way than almost any other state.

They will announce not only where ballots were coming from but also how those ballots were cast. That distinction is crucial, because the mail-in vote will lean Democratic in most states while the in-person vote will lean Republican. But nobody knows exactly how big the skew will be — so reported vote counts that don’t distinguish between in-person and mail-in ballots will be extremely difficult to analyze.

Let’s try not to fight as much as we did in the last post. I sort of started it, 🙁 and it got out of hand. Let’s at least try to be civilized. Perhaps we all just need to focus on breathing.

In no way was it a “red wave”, my dear. Nor was it the will of the people by any stretch of the definition.

Your so-called “red wave” was in actuality “a fluke of the system”.

HI EVERYONE! Your favorite liberal Republican here. It’s 2am and things seem to be close for the POTUS position. Oddly enough MSNBC shows a closer race for POTUS but each station seems to be using their own metrics. I’m staying up but I don’t think we will have an answer tonight.

You position as my favorite Republican has been highly reinforced tonight. Some of your friends here are losing their shit here.

The senate race looks bad for the dems at the moment but Georgia still has two potential senate seats that will like have to go to runoffs.

Meanwhile, Trump is already sending out pleas for money to file lawsuits to keep “The democrats from stealing the election. Le sigh.

So while we wait for the results I needed something to watch. I no longer have patience for the dancing or singing talent shows. My attention span won’t make it through a movie and I’m too jittery for the limited series stuff right now.

The answer came to me last night. Family. Not my relatives, the tv drama from the 70s. Family, Kristy mcnichol, Sada Thompson, Meredith Baxter. I was too young to watch it originally aired so I gave it a try on YouTube. It’s eerily still relevant and also very calming with its 70s vibe.

Just thought I’d throw it out there as a relaxing option.

Arizona is another State to watch, with votes having been counted all along, since early voting began October 7th. Counts to be announced starting a little after polls close 8 p.m. AZ time. I’ll be looking at two counties, Maricopa and Pima, to see if Biden can get enough to squeak by with a win. Some in my rural part are concerned there will be large Trump parades up and down our local Highway, whoever wins. I have enough water and food for a few days, if anger and resentment boils over. Nearby Las Vegas is where progressive’s would show their solidarity if Trump refuses to accept a fair outcome. I’m stating what I have heard, no one knows exactly how all this will go yet. Whoever wins this election, I want no mob mentality to hold us hostage.

On one hand, so much of what so many of you have already said is true. There’s just so much uncertainty, and a whole lot of what’s being said on the internet is just meaningless bluster.

Now with that out of the way, I’ll offer some professional advice: It looks like Pennsylvania will take a while to count, so don’t freak out over the earliest numbers from them. TT probably knows what’s happening in Georgia far better than I do, so I’ll leave the Peach State commentary to our fearless leader. Florida will probably count its ballots quickly, and so far we’re expecting a big dump of results from North Carolina and Arizona after they close, so pay attention to those states to get a better sense of what’s happening nationwide.

I’m still waiting to see how many votes we’ll get from my state tonight, and I’m still trying to decide how late I’m willing to stay up to wait on my home state.

Good luck to all, and please stay safe!

For those who think Trump won’t accept an unfavorable outcome, I’d just like to remind you that Hillary told Joe months ago to NOT CONCEDE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. So looks like BOTH sides could have issues with accepting the outcome. And it’s not conservatives rioting and looting and burning things down and attacking innocent people so liberals should look to their own leadership if that occurs.

Hillary isn’t the Democratic candidate in this election, yet for some reason you chose to incorrectly quote what she said about accepting this election’s results. Joe Biden is the Democratic nominee and he said about accepting election results,
“I will accept it and he (Trump) will too.” Sept 29, 2020/Joe Biden/televised Debate

Versus President Trump who has stated repeatedly:
“I’m not going to say yes, I’m not going to say no.” (when asked whether he would accept the election results) July 19, 2020/ televised Fox interview
“This election could be decided two months later. It could be decided many months later…there’s never been anything like this.” Aug 9, 2020/ Donald Trump/Axios televised interview
“We’re going to have to see what happens, you know I’ve been complaining about the ballots and the ballots are a disaster.” (When asked is he’d accept a peaceful transfer of power) Televised White House Press Briefing/ Sept 23, 2020/Donald Trump.
The list of Trump interviews where he states he is unsure if he will accept the election outcome tops 23 – not including his numerous tweets stating he is unsure if he will accept election results.
And the enormous fence he is building outside our White House continues.

Biden won’t have time to fight the result, he will be too busy doling out his super duper top secret cure for the coronavirus that can only be shared after November 3 when he is elected Senator.

Biden has not EVER claimed to have a secret plan for the coronavirus. He has said, even before this got so out of hand, that SCIENCE will dictate his plans.

He got reamed for saying he was ready to shut things down. The question asked and answered was if SCIENTISTS AND DISEASE EXPERTS said we should shut down was he prepared to do it. He said IN THAT CONTEXT that he was.

Biden’s priorities are human lives first, economy second.

Erica, the people of the United States elected a black man president. Twice. I voted for him. But this time I voted for Trump for a whole lot of reasons. Was I a white supremacist before and didn’t know it? What percentage of the population do you believe are white supremacists? I’ve lived a long time, lived all over, and never known one. Is there prejudice in our society? Of course. Has there been racial injustice and inequality? Of course. But I really wish people would quit calling conservatives white supremacists. There’s no reason for that. Democrats have been the party of slavery and oppression throughout history so if you’re going to paint anyone with a white supremacist brush it should be them.Trump has done so much for the black community. The list is long of accomplishments on their behalf. I don’t understand where the white supremacy accusations come from? Is it because if what he supposedly said? The deliberate misquoting has been debunked time after time. You can read transcripts and video which tell the truth yet the lie keeps being repeated. Support your candidate with enthusiasm but please stop throwing white supremacy accusations around like confetti.

You didn’t answer any of my questions. Why do you think Trump is a white supremacist? Because the media says he is? Because they keep asking him to renounce it even though he’s on the record doing so for years? Because they misquoted him about the Charlottesville incident which has been debunked time after time, you can see a transcript or the video and see the truth but the lie has been repeated so often people believe it?
I don’t vote for ANYONE who is or supports white supremacists. For you to say I do is wrong, rude, and a baseless accusation. If you can’t make your case with facts and logic, to resort to personal attacks is a indication of lack of critical thinking skills.

Why is he a white supremacist?

            Well, let’s see…

▪️Re-tweets his supporters chanting “white power”.

▪️Refused to denounce white supremacy and the KKK for years of his presidency, until he was finally backed into a corner last month, then did so with all of the enthusiasm of a hostage with a gun to his head.

▪️Called for a ban on all Muslims entering the US.

            ▪️Calls non-white nations “shithole countries”.

▪️Attempted to de-legitimize a US-born President of the United States with a stream of lies about his birthplace.

▪️Characterizes Mexicans as “rapists and criminals”.

▪️Said an Indiana-born Federal judge was “inherently biased” due to his Mexican ancestry.

▪️Was sued in 1973 by the US DOJ for housing discrimination.

And there are many, many more.

            Shall I go on?

His funding of HBCUs was increased to levels never seen before, even under 8 years of Obama.

He created Economic Opportunity Zones which incentivized investment into low income communities. This coupled with capital gains tax decreases resulted in a boom in minority owned businesses.

Black unemployment rates dropped to historic lows and income leaped in record amounts.

His police reform First Step Act executive order released thousands of people from prison, 90% who were black. This was undoing much of Biden’s 1994 crime legislation that increased incarceration of black people exponentially.

I could go on but I think I answered your question.

President Donald Trump’s signing of the FUTURE Act in 2019 made a significant allocation of federal funding for HBCUs permanent beyond 2019. It’s not clear how involved Trump was before the legislation hit his desk for a signature.

HBCUs received funding under the same program during President Barack Obama’s time in the White House. It’s a stretch to say Trump “saved” them.

Two experts calculated the total federal funding provided to HBCUs for PolitiFact. Those numbers show little change between the Obama years and the first year under Trump.

LOL, all you’ve done is copy/paste campaign-website spin, i.e. a big bunch of bullshit.

NONE of the things you list pass even a cursory fact check.

HBCU funding is actually little-changed from the Obama era. That’s a super-easy thing to verify.

Black unemployment along with all unemployment is at an historic HIGH, due to Trumps supreme mismanagement of a little thing called the pandemic. Maybe you’ve heard of it?

In fact, black unemployment numbers are even WORSE than the average. I mean, that’s been a big topic of discussion these past few months. That you claim “Black unemployment rates dropped to historic lows and income leaped in record amounts” makes me wonder what planet you live on.

And the First Step Act isn’t “his”. It was bipartisan legislation that was worked on for YEARS and he signed only after huge concessions were made, such as Tom Cotton’s insisting to still be able to lock up juveniles in adult prisons in Arkansas, for example.

But of course it’s absolutely on-brand for Trump to take all the credit for something that other people worked on for years.

People forget that the political machines move slowly so that legislation & budgeting from previous administrations. Like the Military had a fairly expansive budget when Obama took office but with the end of the budget period and the credit crunch it was pretty much halved in his second year.

Reminds me of when George W. signed the largest marine sanctuary in history AFTER CLINTON DID ALL OF THE WORK And got it passed. But the date of signing was after Bush Sonny took office.

And when Obama got stuck signing a bunch of bail-out money that BUSH got approved. People ripped Obama for that and he had nothing to do with it but that date of signing.

Why do so many people believe a Trump’s LIES? He says we’ve turned the corner on corona like it’s a GOOD THING. But the corner it’s turned is more cases AND more deaths. The numbers of cases MAY show more as more tests become available. But NOTHING, NO SPINNING can change the death numbers.

Now I’m being accused of being a plagiarist? No, you’re confusing me with Biden who never had an original thought or idea and began his plagiarism in his school days. Every word I write here is original. I don’t “copy and paste ” anything. I express my own thoughts. Do my own research.
You can believe anything you want. Say anything you want. That’s how this country works. But I’m so weary of the endless parroting of the lies about Trump, some of which have been thoroughly debunked but that doesn’t seem to matter. The white supremacy quote, for instance. If you READ THE TRANSCRIPT or WATCH THE VIDEO he clearly states he is not talking about white supremacists. But that part gets left out and ignored because it doesn’t fit the narrative.
There’s plenty one can criticize him for and I do. Do I agree with every decision he’s made? No. Do I agree with everything he’s said? No. But I have a real problem with lies. I read some post here by an Aussie, I think, listing the Russian collusion bullshit against Trump. That has been PROVEN by the investigation to be a lie. Hillary Clinton paid for the Steele dossier to start a campaign to distract people from her email scandal. That is proven in documents uncovered in the investigation. An FBI attorney is in PRISON for falsifying information to get warrants from the FISA courts as part of this. These are facts. I could go on just about this one thing to continue to show how the Russian collusion narrative was a lie. But I’m not because I want to move on to one more thing before I sum up.
The same post talked about the Ukrainian aid being withheld by Trump. This is another outright lie. Trump got impeached for what Biden did. Biden is on video at a conference bragging about exactly how he pressured the Ukrainian government by saying he would withhold US aid unless the prosecutor who was investigating corruption in Burisma was fired. This was when Hunter was on the board of Burisma. These are not my opinions. They are facts you can see for yourself on video or read in actual documents.
I could continue to refute every single lie I’ve seen here but I’m not going to because I recognize that people will believe what they want to believe regardless of facts. See what they want to see no matter the evidence.
I’m not a white supremacist. I don’t think Trump is a perfect president who never makes a mistake. But he has had the Washington establishment against him from before he was inaugurated. If he hadn’t been the target of an outrageous impeachment in which he was impeached for what Biden had done, maybe EVERYONE including the media could have paid more attention to the emerging coronavirus threat. The White House’s first media briefing on the coronavirus was ignored by the media because all they cared about was orange man bad and the impeachment.
In conclusion, all I’m saying is be open to EVIDENCE and facts. If you turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to anything that doesn’t fit your narrative you’re doing yourself a disservice. Treat everyone with respect regardless of whether or not you agree with them. If you don’t you’re doing exactly what you accuse others of doing.and how does that help anything?
Keep an.open mind even about things you think you know all about. Knowledge really is power and if you are closed minded you deprive yourself of the opportunity to learn and grow.
To those of you who have stood with me, I appreciate your courage.and integrity. To those who don’t agree with me I wish you peace and happiness.

        Have to agree with ericzku

        Not living in the US I really don’t have a dog in this fight, but as an outsider who frankly finds both candidates dubious I’ll say this;

If you vote for a man who is
        – openly racist
        – openly a “pussy grabbing misogynist”
        – discriminated against Latino’s – lost over 500 latino’s kids parents after remanding them in detention and trying to enforce a policy allowing the administration to detain migrants indefinitely in violation of their constitutional rights.
        – declared after a violent incident between White Supremacists and Liberals’, “There are good people on both sides”. Trump gave cover to the neo-Nazis who rioted in Charlottesville and murdered a protester, he violated his obligation to protect the citizenry against domestic violence.
        – Has repeatedly attempted to intimidate or influence witnesses in proceedings against him in the Robert Mueller’s investigation
        – Although forbidden has profited enormously as President from accepting personal benefits from any foreign government or officials and has retained his ownership interests in his family business while he is in office.
        – Trump has repeatedly pushed his properties as avenues to secure his favour, and multiple foreign officials have stayed at his properties while lobbying his administration.
        – Despite Federal law prohibiting campaigns from soliciting or accepting anything of value from a foreign national he has solicited Russia’s assistance in the 2016 election.
        – Trump openly advocates political and police violence, he encouraged encouraged police officers to rough up people they have under arrest, particularly in BLM protests, he violated his obligation to oversee faithful execution of the laws.
        – Continually abused his Presidential powers threatened to withhold aid from Ukraine if its Prime Minister did not investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son. Using taxpayer dollars to manipulate an important ally against Russia and attack a political rival pardon . he also pardoned Joe Arpaio, who was convicted for contempt of court after ignoring a court order that he stop detaining and searching people based on the colour of their skin, amounted to an abuse of the pardon power that revealed his indifference to individual or people of colour. This goes against your Fifth Amendment which allows the judiciary to issue and enforce injunctions against government officials who flout individual rights.
        – Trump continually engages in reckless conduct – his failure to address the reality’s of the danger of COVID has resulted in the death of 233000 Americans out of 9.47 million cases.
        – Trump persecutes political opponents – eg pressuring the Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden, his potential opponent in the general election, by leveraging US military aide to help his reelection prospects.
        – Requesting foreign intelligence agencies to assist in an investigation to discredit Robert Mueller, hoping to undermine the credibility of the damning Mueller Report.
        – Trump continually attacks the concept of The Fourth Estate – – a free and independent press – dismissed the murder of a critical American journalist in Saudi Arabia citing the economic partnership the US has with the offending nation.
        – Shows no respect for your constitution on which your society of “men “who are created equal … the home of the brave & the land of the free”. Now a joke on the world stage.

So You may NOT be a White Supremacist, but you have aligned yourself with a Racist, Misogynist, Corrupt and Criminal man.

Trump is not a Republican by values – he’s not interested in personal citizen liberty, fiscal conservatism, supportive of a standing army, supporter of the Second Amendment etc and most importantly the staunch implementation and practice of civil virtue. he cares only for himself.

He is a failed businessman, a Reality TV star and a charlatan

Don’t kid yourself that a Trump president will be the leader of a free world, the US has spent the last 4 years abdicating the stage.

Yes I know the rule is never engage Americans in a debate over politics or religion. I just can’t bear to watch you continue to destruct.

Preach, debate, consider and ponder. Just don’t attack. Most voiced their opinion on fear of death, we can do so with more leniency. Don’t shy from your opinions, that is what had established us a democracy, lets not take that one right away due to bruised feelings.

I’m horrified by all of this. People keep keep hanging on to the old stand by of how things used to be handled. Our old way changed 4 years ago and the new norm has been horrifying. After tonight, those that voted for this pig are complicit in the horror that is about to befall us all. You will get what you deserve, while millions of our citizens will get what they never dreamed of happening to them.

Proud of my State of Arizona. We worked hard to get out the vote in the months long record heat. We had good, positive ads and even though we had to share scarce resources (fewer in person door knockers and late yard signs) we believed in our candidates and message and persevered for the first time in decades to win blue. It may take Biden across the electoral finish line.

More advertising dollars like many of the Democrats had don’t necessarily translate into a huge number of new voters who wouldn’t otherwise vote for a candidate. We tried different types of airwaves and addressed new, specialized issues. So far, so good. Lots for Democrats to do whoever wins this Presidential election. We’re not the hare, thank goodness.

Biden has won Wisconsin! That’s the good news. The bad news is that it was only by about 20,000 votes. So state law allows for a recount which is going to happen.

This is going to take FOREVER.

Things are starting to look good for Biden to win GA. But the Fulton County GOP leader is complaining that the people counting from 11pm -1am last night were not supervised by “poll watchers” or whatever. so when Biden wins GA …Trump will have another tantrum. Or continue on with his tantrums. He has been tweeting lies all day and Twitter keeps putting up disclaimers to that effect.

Meanwhile, Joe Biden is already trying to reunite the country and being presidential.

The fact that this election was not landslide is just another embarrassment on the world stage.

I’ve spent today crippled with anxiety. I cannnnnot handle all of this! I am keeping an open mind. I’m sooo sad about Jamie Harrison. I’m laughing at some of the desperation tweet trump is sending out. He literally just said he would leave the country if he lost.

How is everyone holding up? I’m sure I’m not the only one that has a lot of big decisions dependent on the outcome of the election. If Trump wins I probably will have to stay in the south, where I have been temporarily because I lost my job In Brooklyn due to covid. I will probably move in with my grandparents (in their 90s) and help them live out the rest of their lives as their caregiver(which I honestly would be happy to do. I love my grandparents soooo much). If Biden wins, I will hopefully feel stable enough to move forward with my life and start laying out plans for my future. I will either move back to Brooklyn, or look for some kind of job in a city I always wanted to live(hawaiiiiiiii!!!!! Lol). Oh god I don’t know. It’s been a wild day.

    The president versus democracy
This is a dark and dangerous moment for American democracy.

A sitting president has spent months telling lies about non-existent voter fraud. Now that his re-election bid is in deep trouble — but with the outcome still uncertain — he has unleashed a new torrent of falsehoods claiming that the other side cheated. He has demanded the Supreme Court intervene to decide the election in his favor.

His supporters are staging protests in Arizona, Michigan, Nevada and Pennsylvania meant to interfere with legitimate vote counting. In Phoenix, some have showed up at the State Capitol with guns (as you can see in this short video taken by my colleague Simon Romero).

The worst democratic outcome — in which judges appointed by the president’s political party intervene to overrule the apparent will of voters — seems likely to be avoided. The Supreme Court has shown no signs of halting vote counts, and Joe Biden’s leads in the decisive states may end up being large enough to avoid the election hinging on the sort of ballot-counting minutiae (like hanging chads) that decided the 2000 result in Florida.

But President Trump’s actions are still causing significant damage. They undermine his supporters’ faith in the country’s government. They also undermine the credibility of the United States around the world. And they force election officials, journalists and social-media platforms to choose between telling the truth and sounding nonpartisan; it is impossible to do both about Trump’s election claims.

In the simplest terms, the president of the United States is attacking American democracy in an effort to remain in office.

For more: Dahlia Lithwick, Slate: “We are as confounded today about the lies as we were in 2016. We ignore them at the peril of democracy; we engage with them at the peril of our sanity.”

Susan Glasser, The New Yorker: “There have been many times, over the past four years, that covering Trump’s Washington felt like a foreign assignment to me, never more so than while driving around the capital these past few days and seeing boarded-up storefronts and streets cordoned off for blocks around the White House, in anticipation of unprecedented post-election violence. I have seen such scenes before, in places like Azerbaijan and Russia. This is Trump’s America. It is not the America I have known.”

Steve Vladeck, University of Texas law professor: “For anyone complaining about the ‘late’ shift in totals toward Democrats in MI, PA, and WI, most of those votes actually came in *first.*” But Republican-controlled state legislatures refused to allow the counting of mail ballots as they arrived.

Nicholas Kristof, a Times Op-Ed columnist: “If Biden wins after this poisoning of the chalice, he will inherit a badly divided country after an election that many will deem illegitimate, and it will be harder to govern and more difficult for the United States to exert influence around the world.”

We are in a bad spot as American’s. I think this will be the a moment where we may have to force our own elected President like so many of the “dirt countries” Trump has disparaged, out of the seat of office and the White House (those barriers are not random). I keep telling myself this was unavoidable at one point, America’s had it easy in regards to despots and the like, one was bound to show him or herself eventually. It’s dumbfounding though what is occurring. We American’s have mostly boasted of is our freedom of choice. By blocking the bridges, keeping people from the polls, you are literally shitting on the very freedoms we have worked so hard to gain. How is this constructive? Where has our moral compass? Why are we so willing to sell our stature as leaders of the world, for a buck and a win?

When I am in my car, which is only when I go to the store, I listen to conservative talk radio. And the guy I hate the most was debunking a lot of the shit on social media that has his Trumpster base up in arms on the way there. And on the way back, he said that Trump has lost the election and they need to deal with it. He said the good news from the election was the number of house seats that flipped Red and “PROBABLY” hold the senate. The senate flip is incumbent on the great state of Georgia where we HOPEFULLY will have two run off votes that flip.

This concludes my recap of my trip into THE WORLD.

Trump is on TV blathering about stolen elects and “an impressive big red wave”. He appears to be having trouble catching his breath. Is the Covid back? He looks dejected and is basically whining. He is talking about how Republicans are the party of inclusion. He is making less sense than usual. He’s rambling on about how the polls were wrong. He thinks that is voter suppression. Huh? If your candidate is shown as being behind in the polls that is motivation TO vote.

He says this whole thing is unfair and corrupt. NBC cut away to point out all his lies. Fox is still letting him lie. He’s talking out of his ass about Georgia right now. He says that Detroit and Philadelphia are ” two of the most places anywhere in our country, easily!” Everything his is saying is a lie. He says that the vote counting isn’t allowing anyone to oversee the counting. That’s a lie. Then he says the observers were too far away. Jesus.

It is interesting to watch this after watching The Comey Rule and The Loudest Vote. NBC is now running Wheel Of Fortune. LOL. Meanwhile there is only 4,000 votes difference in GA right now. He did not take any questions.

CNN points out what a disgrace this speech was to the country. FoxNews says the president seems to know this will not turn out his way. They point out he is already saying he will go to the supreme court. Fox also has the live vote difference in votes on the right side of their screen.

Then a lawyer comes on and says that in Georgia the Governor and the Secretary of State who runs the election are REPUBLICANS.

Anyway I came back to say that GA is now in the worst Covid category possible. Apparently because 50% of us refuse to wear masks. I went to Kroger today and a kid (grownish) was shopping without a mask on my aisle and it freaked me the fuck out. I think Publix requires them. then there are the idiots who wear masks below their nose. Like that is going to help. Most of my country has turned blue or at least knows to wear a mask. I am trying not to speculate about who my new lovely preacher neighbors and their beautiful babies voted for. They are really good people. They bought their house that was rebuilt from the ground up for two and a half times what I paid for the ghetto shack many years ago…

You saying you freaked out was THE REASON I began wearing bandanas/masks very early on. Because panic/anxiety attacks are dreadful. I know people who had to dig deep just to venture out for necessities and were terrified. An act of basic human kindness was to wear a mask. Is it THAT BIG OF A DEAL to be kind? To put on a mask?

You made me admit that a mask was protecting me when I really didn’t believe I needed it. (I always figured it did not hurt, but I was observing the other protocols). And you were RIGHT. The mask goes both ways. Restaurant workers wearing masks for hours did not get covid, but diners who unmasked only to eat, who were distanced, got it.

I am irritated by these third party candidates. I think if you want to be a third party candidate, that is fine. But once we get to the primary, you can’t just claim to be the Birthday party and get on the ticket for president, or really anything unless you have say 10% of the primary vote. I’d love a third party but the system isn’t set up to allow them and they only fuck things up.

OH AND ALSO I read somewhere Kayne got 60,000 write-in votes.

Should we have a national system for voting for national elections And a state voting system for local and state? Could this help with the fraudulent and corruption theories being spouted today? We knew this was going to happen.
We could easily have more parties with the diversity of this country but I agree with you, at this stage of voting, these candidates should not be on the ballot. Or write in candidates, What’s the point?

The NYT has been tracking every Trump lie for a while. It kept getting longer during the lead up to Election Day. I cannot find it this minute, but I will find it. Maybe because the writers haven’t been able to close it since his latest baseless allegations (aka LIES) about the voting.

Official announcements planned for 7:30 am. EST, 8a.m. EST, and 6p.m. EST for three of the undeclared. All of the active military will not be counted, but there were official updates planned. One state (Arizona or Nevada?) expected all other votes counted by then. My memory on stress is worse than on drugs.

I have been worried that if Nevada or Arizona went to Biden that Trumpers would bomb Pennsylvania voting facilities. I’m still worried. Two Trumpers arrested a couple of hours ago. Something odd about the car, not saying what just now. Arrested, not charged.

As I typed this, Biden just took lead in Pennsylvania. Many active military votes still need to be counted in PA too.

As Trump continues to try to undermine democracy with his unsubstantiated LIES. This script was written BEFORE Election Day. He said he would call in the lawyers if he were losing. His hubris is barely second to his dishonesty.

The Trump camp has set up a “hotline” to track voter suppression and alienation.

Trump is saying that the elections were rigged yet somehow we are all stuck with Lindsey Graham, and Mitch McConnell. If the elections were rigged we would have gotten rid of those two as well. Plus Georgia has still not finished counting votes and no call was made by the press.

FOX NEWS IS ALREADY TALKING ABOUT THE SUPREME COURT AND HOW THE LGBT Community not being allowed to ADOPT CHILDREN. SO even that the POS is voted out they can at least stop babies to be adopted into loving homes.. YAY REPUBLICANS you found your win for as the lady just said her “freedom of religion.”

Yep Fox is back to FOX. Trump must have really threatened them after they gave Arizona to Biden hours before the mainstream sites. They tried to go with the facts and now they will feel his wrath. This all makes sense if you watch The Loudest Voice on I think HBO but it may be Showtime one or the other.

Oh and they are saying that there is going to be a GA announcement in a couple of hours. I am not going to make it a couple of hours. I may nap and set an alarm.

Trump told people to go to the polls to be sure your vote was counted. I went, immocompromised in a pandemic and early voted anyway. I really didn’t know how to do mail in in the first place. But WAY more dems did it that way. Now Trump thinks things are rigged because he told his voters not mail in Does he have any idea how long the lines were to vote? I literally bought a chair because I can’t stand for long periods of time. BUT TRUMP TOLD HIS PEOPLE TO GO TO THE POLLS.

And now he can’t figure out why mail-in votes are Biden votes or the most part?

He thought he could get the Mail-in votes disqualified as fraudulent JUST BECAUSE HE SAYS SO. He has lived on BECAUSE I DAY SO his ENTIRE LIFE. Grandpappy Trump was the model for stealing, fraud, racism, elitism, misogyny, selfishness and every other bad character trait Trump displays. Not sure if Pappy were a pussy-grabber, but I bet he didn’t discourage it in his MiniMe grandson.

So my son lives in Philly….PA has “early voting” but actually that means going to a poll location and filling out a mail-in ballot and then handing it in to the Poll. So in reality those “early votes” in PA are the ones being counted now…hope that makes sense

Every State has their own unique laws and procedures and timelines as to how mail in ballots are handled. So that is 50 too many facts for Trump to wrap his pea brain around.

Bwahahahahaha! You are so right! He can’t even COUNT to 50!

Just a minute ago, Biden has slim lead in Pennsylvania.

Christ. My big fear of plots to attack Penn voting centers just verified. People from Virginia were on way to attack
      Philly center.

I agree with Trump on TWO things:

I HATE IT, BUT as far as the Supreme Court Justice appointment goes, when pols said because it was so close to the election, we should hold up and let The People decide … The People DID decide. They voted for Trump in 2016. You don’t arbitrarily get to push the date to after the current POTUS is out of office. Vacancy was during Trump’s reign, so too bad for that. ?

There should be SOME WAY to get every vote counted on the night of Election Day. Or the day after. The WORLD knew that Election Day was Nov. 3 long ago. There SHOULD BE some way to get those ballots all in by Election Day. In the olden days — late 20th Century — ballots were filled in manually, at the voting sites and counted manually. No electronic shite and we knew that night who our president would be.

TWO AGREEMENTS. I DOUBT I WILL AGREE WITH A THIRD THING!

Nanette- even though I didn’t vote for Trump, your statements make complete sense to me (hey- it’s time we all start to think critically about issues, instead of blindly accepting every single position that our chosen “team” takes). One of the reasons this is all so messy and possibly vulnerable to legal scrutiny is how “drawn out” the counting of the ballots has been, and, all of the different “standards”for what constitutes a “legal” ballot between different states. I’m not at all implying that there was massive fraud, but a mail-in system that differs between states in terms of what constitutes a legal ballot (some states accepting ballots without verifying signatures, that aren’t post-marked, etc.) is vulnerable to potential fraud (and subsequent legal challenges). My deceased father received a ballot, which I could have VERY easily completed and mailed (I have access to documents with his signature that could have been copied, etc.). I reported this to our board of elections (and returned it, blank, to them). The lack of concern on their part was deafening! So, while it was probably not enough to influence the results, I have no doubt that some fraud DID occur in this election- I don’t want to believe it, but I am one, very concrete example. We need tighter, more secure standards, and just because I’m a Blue, I’m not going to deny reality!

Why are you lying? YOu could NOT easily return that ballot. You are not “blue,” These Trump supporters are not Republicans, they’re fanatics. Do my research, huh? You know it’s funny, for people that loooove to tell their newfound sworn enemies, the Democrats, that they are parrots, I can take each and every one of their comments here and attribute it to any one of my neighbors, almost verbatim. Do my research? You’ll wait? You think some shithead on youtube is more reliable than ABC? The cranial rectosis is astounding. In my own house I’m told, “I don’t know what to believe anymore, what’s truth?” Give me a fucking break. If that cuntfaced Laura ingaraham says it, suddenly it’s truth? There is nothing wrong with healthy skepticism. This is not healthy. These old bats should know better. I doubt very seriously you were raised to declare fealty to an old ass fame whore who was born on third base and thinks he hit a home run. Jesus h tapdancing Christ, what is it going to take??

I know some very smart people that I respect that support Trump. I believe that they are lifelong Repubs that cannot stomach anything with a D after it since Bill Clinton. I get it. But this is not your guy. It’s just not. Stop it. Deep down, you have to know this. I also know every moron I left high school with 30 years ago that never cracked a book are now Constitutional scholars. It’s nauseating. Stop it.

My, but aren’t you colorful? Trump supporters, I suspect, are loyal party people. Trump was the only Republican in the race, unfortunately. There was no one else for them to support. Poor souls. Maybe they can do better next time. Won’t be that difficult!

Um- triggered much? Not sure if you responded to the right person. If you’re response was intended for me, I think you’re reading things into my comment that were never written (perhaps you’re responding to someone else). I never said “do your research”, and frankly cannot make sense out of most of your rants above. I VOTED FOR BIDEN, I am anything but a liar (as far as I know I have never had the dubious “pleasure” of meeting you so you would have no way of assessing my character) The fact is, I was PRAYING every minute that BIDEN would win, but, as I was assisting my mother with her bills, I DID find a ballot sent to my deceased father. I was mortified (because it was a concrete example of what the right- who I DO NOT agree with on almost anything, had been saying COULD happen. You are a perfect example of the poison that has seeped into us as a nation- that being- if you don’t completely “tow the party line”, you cannot possibly be a Democrat or a Republican. You find the need to attack me, simply because I cited an example from my own life that was real, that did happen (and again, I VOTED FOR BIDEN) just because it doesn’t fit your version of what you think the truth should be? I just started reading Tamara Tattles, but I’m signing off now- too many “rabid dogs” on here that can’t engage in civil discourse (or possibly see that there can be different viewpoints). Peace…..

No Kat….?. Wasn’t for you but for Sam. My “colorful” remark was meant lighthearted because Sam used wonderfully creative descriptives. I’m pretty new here, but I read a lot of the comments. The regular commenters aren’t rabid at all. Very intelligent, yes! Mean, no! Emotions and sensitivities are very close to the surface right now, so written words can be taken the wrong way. I’m sorry you thought I was being rude. ?

Hi Dizzy- thank you so much! And even though my reply was right under yours, I was actually replying to Sam?. It hurt to be told I was lying (when I absolutely wasn’t), so I allowed myself to get triggered I guess. You are so great for letting me know and for your kind words! I feel pretty passionately that people should get out of the silos of their chosen parties and evaluate issues and events objectively- that was the only point I was trying to make (to Sam)- and describing an actual event that happened to me (as a Biden voter?). None of us is all right or all wrong. Thanks so much, Dizzy- I like you already….
