Three episodes of Don’t Be Tardy showed up on my DVR tonight. But only one was new so this Don’t Be Tardy recap will be super short. Kim is very upset to find out during a visit with her aunt in Louisville that her father had cancer. She leaves the dinner with them (I thought it was lunch last week, but it is dark when they leave) crying. The littles are confused about what is going on. We get a lot of flashbacks of Kim with her dad. Brielle and Ariana are upset too and feel like Kim should reach out to her dad.
The next morning after all the heavy rain, the campsite is a mud bog. Kim wants to go shopping so she and the girls go to the KOA General store. Ariana is fine and Kim is enjoying the swings but Brielle is a stuck up whiner. And she is wearing heels at a campground covered in mud. She’s just not very bright this one. They briefly try to interact with the native “country folk.” Then they are off to St. Louis.
But, when they try to leave, the giant bus gets stuck in the mud. Because you can’t drive giant buses through a mud bog. The campground tries to use their tiny little truck like thing but it doesn’t work so they have to call a huge tow truck to yank the 55,000 pound (according to Kroy) bus out of the mud. They are not even all the way off the campgrounds when the smoke alarm goes off in the bus. Someone burnt something in the toaster. Kim is still obsessing over finding out that her dad has cancer. Then traffic is stopped for construction and backed up for miles. St. Louis is trying to tell them they are not wanted there.
Soon enough they get to another KOA and pull in for the night. As it turns out they are in Terre Haute, Indiana and already way behind the production schedule for the trip. A couple hundred miles later they arrive in St. Louis. Kroy has family there so he visited a lot as a kid and is excited to take his kids to see the Arc and other familiar sites. They arrive at the third KOA in 48 hours. It’s already getting dark and Tracey is cooking dinner on the grill. But the next morning, she is going back home to this mysterious baby she has acquired. Anyone know the story on the baby? Is it a baby? She said something about picking a kid up from school. I don’t really know much about Tracey’s life.
Finally in Saint Louis
Ariana asks if she should text someone to find out how Kim’s dad is doing. Kim says know. She’s not going to call him right now. Kim is nervous about calling her father and saying the wrong thing. She is also worried about her Mom selling the story (of the phone call) to the media as she has done in the past. Kim decides not to call her dad. The next morning Tracey headed back to be with her kid. But she will be back when they get to Arizona.
Apparently, Kory’s dad was a park ranger in St. Louis and worked at the Arc (or Arch as Kim insists on calling it). Kim has no idea what a park ranger is. Kroy tries to explain that his father got a degree in Botany. She thinks he is talking about Botox and then mocks Kroy’s father for “studying plants.” Is she really this dumb? She has to just think dumb is cute, right? Then even Ariana who used to not play stupid acts like she doesn’t know what a barge is. Really? It is pouring rain there. It seems bad weather follows them. Apparently, the Saint Louis Arc is also called the Gateway Arch. Who knew?
The St. Louis Arc
Kaia was super excited to be the first to catch a glimpse of the arc and called her twin, Kane excitedly to come have a look! When they get to the arc, Kim freaks out and doesn’t want to take the elevator to the top. I don’t blame her. I won’t do it either. Kim doesn’t even take elevators in regular buildings. I don’t like elevators either and didn’t go up the Eifel Tower or the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. Way too many people crammed in there. Plus I’m sure I did it as a kid. None of this group takes the elevator. Kroy said they didn’t have time.
Next week: The Biermann Bunch goes to a haunted house.
