As it turns out, there are black women who live in New York City! Who knew? With Dorinda Medley and Tinsley Mortimer leaving RHONY there are two apples up for grabs. There has been some lip service to hiring a black housewife for years; however, with the uptick in media focus on racial disparity in the US lately the time is now. Muchlike the RHOA, the RHONY is looking to change direction a bit and focus less on drunken brawls and more on serious social issues. I don’t see Ramona and Sonja being ambassadors for change, but hopefully they will prove me wrong.
Today, TMZ Exclusively announced that Eboni K. Williams is under contract with RHONY for season 13. Eboni worked briefly on a Fox News show in 2017 called Fox News Specialists. So presumably she is a republican. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean she is a Trump supporter. Lean McSweeney has been a staunch republican in the past but has called out Ramona Singer for her MAGA stance. So there will probably be a lot of politics in the upcoming season.
RHONY Needed A Lawyer!
Eboni gave a statement to TMZ, “NYC is filled with successful and dynamic Black women. I’m excited to join this legendary franchise as the first Black housewife. Can’t wait to share a slice of life in this city that hasn’t been seen before. Anyone who’s aware of my work knows I don’t hold back. I’m going to keep it just as real here as I do everywhere else.”
Eboni is 37 years old which fits with the desire to bring in a younger demographic to the aging franchise. Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, She has a law degree from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law and has clerked for Louisiana’s Secretary of State and the state’s Attorney General in the past. She currently co-hosts State of the Culture on REVOLT TV.
Eboni had the coronavirus in April and is now fully recovered. That experience seems to have made her grateful for life and fervently pursuing happiness. I think she will bring a lot of youthfulness and spice to the cast. What do you think?
