I don’t know how we are going to survive as a country. A reality TV personality was voted as the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.  No wonder Kanye thinks he could be next. It’s not out of the realm of possibility. I have lost all hope for this country. Everything has gone batshit crazy.

I really can’t take much more of this. I really cant. It is really hard to recap stupid shit when we are going through shit. I can’t take much more. I may have to stop posting until Banjo dies. Then I will post about wherever I go… I hope you will stick around.

WHY IN THE NAME OF GOD WOULD ANYONE VOTE FOR A REALITY SHOW STAR TO BE FUCKING PRESIDENT OF OUR COUNTRY? WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE? How is this possible? How is this possibly happening to our country?

        So scary! The lack of reverence & historical sensitivity is deplorable. BLM needs the White community to acknowledge the ugliest part of our country’s short history. Museum’s, Memorials & taught accurately in school more than once a year. If you are White and not an ally of BLM than you are fine with the status quo.There are more of us than you, ask a confederate statue. I’m watching Black people get murdered on my TV. It must stop & the momentum of BLM must be kept moving forward.

      Beets, I disagree with you and think you are conflating two different things. While I agree with you that BLM is “NOT and organization to help black people” it is a grassroots effort by black people demanding the same rights as every other US citizen. Black folks are SICK AND TIRED of being targeted by police and presumed guilty by the color of their skin. Black folks are tired of being murdered in their own homes. Black folks are tired of being pulled over for driving while black.

      We are in agreement that burning and looting businesses is unacceptable. Where we disagree is that you feel like BLM does such a thing. It’s outside agitators that show up who do the rioting. BLM exercises their right to PEACEFUL PROTESTS. BLM has black and white supporters. Remember that time they protested outside the white house and Trump called in the military to clear the way by assaulting peaceful protestors so he could cross the street for a photo op holding a bible upside down at a famous church and then went and hid in his bunker? That was presidential rioting.

      I have a question for you, do you think that black people should be able to have all the rights and privileges’ of white people in the US? Would you say that is common ground we share?

        I’m still gobsmacked Bill Barr compared lockdown to slavery.
        Black people don’t trust most police,I’m sick of hearing some black man was beat or killed for “mouthing off” I watched so many cops beating & going off on protestors cause the cop felt disrepected, We were brought up, if you’re mouthy or don’t listen, a cop can do whatever he wants. Wtf? That thinking is most prevalent in NY/NJ where i live.

        i just got a yorkie pup who fell asleep on my chest/arm & i’m typing with my left hand. lol.
        He’s helped pull me outta a deep hole of anxiety & depression. I live everyday thinking about the past or worrying about the future. life is so challenging and scary always but this year it’s insanity as this administration enjoys chaos to thrive. What’s happening in America is extraordinarily painful. I’m told my state doent count cause we’re “blue” and voted for Clinton. Trump dumped a national test/trace plan cause he thought only “blue states” would be hard hit. The article in Vanity Fair shows this administration is devastatingly unAmerican.

            I also am afraid for our Democracy. Many do not see the historical timeline of how very young this experiment in Democracy is still a toddler. We all need to protect it.
            I never considered the threat to our country would come internally from such a large misinformed group of Americans.

            Our nation was founded in a bloody prolonged protest.

            The right to protest is a fundamental right of our Democracy. Yes I get it the looting etc must be dealt with legally but the protesters must be protected to maintain our our freedoms. It is not always comfortable or the way we want it but a Democracy is worth fighting for.

            Why so many want to give away our freedoms is baffling.

        Our current world is extremely stressful. I am caretaking my elderly Mother and she is terrified. She has helped people her entire life. And does not understand our current world. Nor do I or my sister. We judge each human by their behavior, not their appearance. And that has made life difficult for us. It’s still worth it! Love to you all!

        While I have no desire for a purse that costs more than people make in a year, people are allowed to be rich. I know some very kind rich people. Rich people who have saved my life not because they buy me shit but because THEY CARE. You can’t despise any group of people as a collective. There are good rich people and bad rich people. There are good and bad people of all races. You CANNOT JUDGE PEOPLE as a collective just because they belong to a certain group. If you work hard and make a lot of money, you have a lot money to give back.

And, of course, make sure you vote. Early, if your state offers that option. Mine does not.

          Susan Collins from Maine is a traitor like McConnell and Graham. I think what she said is that she didn’t think a vote should happen before the election, BUT what she did not say is that she would vote NO if a vote happened anyway. And we know McConnell will do what he can plus some to force a vote. I don’t trust Collins at all. I am sending money to Sara Gideon often to make sure Collins loses.

        Mitt was the last holdout, and he said today that he will vote during the election year. I think Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski are the only ones you listed that have not gone on record as saying they will vote to confirm.

        So, it will happen. Our Supreme Court is going to be extremely conservative for the next 20 years or so…. I am actually more terrified of this than of having an idiot like Trump in office. I do believe in the genius of the political system our founders set up, though. We will not fall a la Rome, because the majority will always have a voice in politics. If the majority ends up being misogynistic, conspiracy theory loving, racist assholes, I may move to Rome. I am hoping most Americans are good, but I am losing a bit of that hope daily.

        I think every one of the vulnerable senators that has fallen in line behind Trump needs to be voted out. Cory Gardner (CO), Martha McSally (AZ),Thom Tillis (NC), Joni Ernst (IA),David Perdue (GA)

        I would love for Lindsey Graham and Mitch McConnell to lose, but I do not see it happening. I live in Tennessee but adjacent to the Kentucky border, and I can assure you Amy will not win. I am an accountant and bite my tongue daily. I did not have an option for any primary race but President. We are so red, no one tries to run on a democratic ticket. I had my first child at 39; he is 4 months old. His father is a douche, but a self-aware one.I asked him why a city with 25 +% African American demographics does not have a single Democratic candidate for ANYTHING. He said black people are not allowed to vote.This is a military town, and they make sure to let the minority communities know they are not allowed at the ballot box.

        Voter suppression is still happening in 2020. This is why they are terrified of mail in voting.

          We all know how fluid the political environment can be—that is true for both parties. I dnt know how this will play out but if the tables were turned I think the Dems would take full advantage. It only makes sense. I also believe if the Republicans nominate someone it will be someone in the middle. Trump would be foolish to piss off women like me.

When they had the chance to cheat and install a Democrat to the SC during Obama’s last year as President, the dems chose to follow the law and NOT appoint a new SC justice. Those are the rules for a president during an election year, you do not appoint someone. How can you not know this?

              Honey, your facts are wrong. During Obama’s last year, he nominated Merick Garland. Graham did not allow a vote to come to the floor. So we really don’t know what the Democrats would do based on this situation.

              These “rules” have no legal basis & can be changed at will by the Senate. Harry Reid eliminated the filibuster for lower court appointees. Graham eliminated it for Supreme Court nominees.

              How do you not know this?

              If you think the Democrats would not do everything possible to get a nominee through if they were in this position, you are naive. Both sides are playing to the death now.

              You might not want to go so far as to call Trump a murderer, but I will. IDGAF how the virus started, but his response in my book, is up to about 200,000 kills so far and counting.

              Those of us who have taken it seriously and sacrificed ourselves by staying inside for the better part of a year and those who have been on the front lines exposing themselves in order to save lives indiscriminately have every right to be pissed off and mute the trump cult.

It’s about what’s best for America, and Trump is not it. We need someone, who at least know the laws of the this country, someone who cares about all of us, not a select few. We are the middle of a Pandemic with no guidance from the WH. Our Governors, some of them are doing the best they can. I live in NC and I’m so glad Governor Cooper is in office. I have no idea what we would have done, if someone else was Governor. Of course people are complaining here as well, but he is trying to keep us safe, by having a mask mandate and social distancing in place, although some are not following those guidelines.             Don’t forget Mark Kelly. I just confirmed on NBC News that Arizona law dictates that if he wins, because the “incumbent” is simply appointed (it is Senator McCain’s seat), he could be sworn in on NOVEMBER 30TH. Which means he could be casting a vote regarding Ruth Bader Ginsberg’s seat on SCOTUS.

            If they don’t flip flop, there are already 3 Republican senators who have said they will not support filling the position on SCOTUS until we know who wins the election at least

    I received a postcard from the USPS about mail in ballots saying they will get our ballots in. Trump is doing his best to make sure this election doesn’t happen by eviscerating the USPS, the one way many of us will vote. Voter suppression has always been a problem, and it is certainly happening now.

        In my state we receive a “post card” from the Post Office assuring us it could handle mail in voting and to make sure we filled it out promptly and get it on time. So cool your jets troll.

        I could write another novel about voter suppression but you’ll probably have trouble following. 2013 they reapealled the 1965 Voters rights act which took away valuable Federal Oversight for elections especially in Southern States where the poor & people of color are marginalized. Immediately after SCOTUS re-appealed it, states began getting rid of THOUSANDS of polling sites and machines, they re-organized districts or “Gerrymandering”to manipulate the boundaries of the electoral constituency to favor Republicans. Those lines you see of people in Georgia waiting 4-5 hours to vote are directly due to these tactics used by Republicans. it’s a disgrace. As usual the average Trumpers/Repubs don’t know or don’t care.
        I was a competitive athlete for 20 years, I worked hard & I welcomed the competition, when you’re confident and prepared then bring it on!! Trump & Republicans do everything
        they can to throw the election into doubt, to lie about mail in voting to maintain their power, they don’t care their words are undermining American’s faith in time worn traditions and our institutions-they ONLY care about the next few years and then they’re gone. The ends justify the means. We can wait TWO months if necessary for the results, we’re not going anywhere, we’re banned from going into countries all over the world.

        The postcards are not ballots. It is the USPS promising registered voters that the USPS will deliver the mail-in ballots to be counted.

        Not telling you WHO to vote FOR or WHAT to vote ON.

        The USPS is telling us it is committing to serve us by doing what it is supposed to do. There should not be a need for the postcard, but “some people” are trying to convince voters that their mail-in ballots won’t be counted!

          The problem with the postcards, Nanette, is that elections are run by each state so in essence we have 50 different ways of voting (some differences are minimal of course) plus the territories. From what I understand, the postcards were the same for everyone across the nation – and actually give wrong information for those like me who vote entirely by mail. For other states, it implies that they must wait to request a mail in ballot to a particular date, a date which might prevent that request from being filled.

          It may not be telling you WHO to vote for, or WHAT to vote on, but it is fucking up WHEN and HOW some people vote.

          I’m actually mad my Secretary of State hasn’t spoken out on this and the Cheetolini’s continued disparagement of how dangerous it is to vote by mail. I’ve NEVER questioned my state’s voting process. I’m so scared about this bad influence that I’m driving nearly 30 miles to hand deliver my ballot to my county auditor’s office. I know multiple people who are planning the same thing.

          The loss of RBG is a loss for women around the world. I have no words right now that can truly express how I am feeling. What wisdom do I share with my daughters today about the impact this has for their generation and generations to come?

      The Senate, the Electoral College, voter suppression by Republicans, lol, almost all the current Republican SCOTUS Justices were appointed by presidents WHO LOST THE POPULAR VOTE, the dedication with which these unpopular presidents filled the federal benches with unqualified graduates from the likes of Liberty and Regency University Law Schools (Tier IV ideological church-over-state academies)

I agree that we should be respectful of police. I believe we have points of agreement. I could not sleep, so I will probably sleep a lot today. I am asking you not to call anyone in this thread cunts (and others not to call you one). I went to grocery store since I was up at the butt crack of dawn anyway. Apparently, you cannot buy alcohol before 8 am in Georgia. WHO KNEW? It was like 7:45 when I tried to check out so I sat and waited. Two fire fighters came in to buy eggs and bacon and such to make the fire house breakfast. I got up and paid for it while I waited. It was not a lot of money at all. But it made me feel like I was supporting the fire department during a time when they are risking their lives in California.

    When I came home the news was on the TV. It showed the moment Trump found out about RBG passing. It was on camera, unrehearsed. He seemed genuinely saddened. It was like he was capable of compassion. Perhaps you could just follow suit on this one? I feel like you were probably a little bit in the sauce based on the timing of your rants. I’ve said many things I regret in such situations. Or maybe you were actually attacking people who are grieving and calling us cunts stone cold sober. But I am asking you to do me a favor and let us grieve in peace. You can call us cunts in the reality TV show comments if you must. But not here. Not today.

    You mentioned that you were raised to respect police. Could you respect us while we grieve and be a cunt in the recap comments? Even Trump was respectful and seemed to even have a tristful emotion when he found out on camera. I’m sure he would be okay with you exercising a bit of restraint for a day or two.

      TT, on a lighter note. During our pre- evacuation alert we had CHP officers parked at intersections o stop looky lou’s or looters.
      I would stop and ask if they wanted anything from our local market. They would say no.
      I began picking them up a cold vanilla Starbucks bottle.
      On a return from store this one younger officers said no thanks as he showed me his large energy drink he had emptied. . Possibly because he was of similar age of my sons and I think his energy drink is a horrible beverage for him, He just had me feeling angry. I snapped at him.

      Yes you ARE taking this Starbucks and you won’t drink that crap again.
      OMG he actually jumped but smiled a real smile and said yes Mamm.
      As I walked away I felt as if I was coming out of a trance, I was so embarrassed but felt better for some reason.

OBVIOUSLY, if she was a first time commenter she would be shit canned. And she is usually just a contrarian and I feel like at times she just wants attention.     Personally I’m over the Beets of the world. I live in Beets/Trump country. Half of my family belongs to the Beets/Trump cult. Bob Woodward in a recent interview said Trump people aren’t Republicans or conservatives instead they’re part of a populist movement trying to take us back to the simpler times of the 1950’s and 60’s. But I remember the unrepentant wife beaters, child beaters and unwanted and mistreated children from that era. As well as my own Mom who couldn’t get a credit card in her name and who worked for a pittance even though she was well educated- because she was female.

    Those are some of the many things RBG helped to elevate womenkind and children from. Nope, this election is about moving forward and not romancing racist, sexist and exclusionary times. Vote early, whichever method you vote by. If it’s by mail know your stance on all the provisions ahead so you can mail it back within a day of receipt. Sign up to to register people or help work at voting booths – if your health allows. Hate has taken a front seat for four years, but I’m hoping it’s reign is over soon. There’s an online petition asking the Senate to wait until after the election to appoint a new judge in Ginsberg’s place. Sign it. Facebook or Google it. Peace and harmony and justice for all.

      My sister usually hosts Thanksgiving. This year there probably won’t be one. She has some pretty uniformed political views and my family is sort of split. She laid down a hard rule that there will be not political discussions in her house. We all agree and it works well. FOR THANKSGIVING.

      I watch a lot of CNN but I often switch over to Fox News to see what they are saying when shit goes down. We can’t just all get in our corners and call those we VEHEMENTLY disagree with cunts. Calling each other stupid and ignorant is fine when it comes to the real housewives. But this is some serious shit and we all need to TRY to come to the table and talk to each other.#BeLikeJoe

His music may not be most of y’alls cup of tea, but i recommend you check it out on YouTube. It is positive and shows not all of us here in Kentucky are a bunch of uneducated rednecks.

          His message is beautiful and he is so articulate. My son is a musician and follows him and it is young people like him that keep me from giving up hope. There is always hope.
          And RBG was all about never giving up–or giving in. The often misquoted Churchill quote about never giving up was actually about him not giving in during a particular dark and troubling 10 month period; that is, never giving in to his emotions but to instead act with conviction and courage. “..surely from this period of ten months this is the lesson: never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never-in nothing, great or small, large or petty — never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense.”

      I watched his statement and listened to a couple of his songs. His statement was beautiful and profound. It’s so nice to see white artists with a platform stand up as an ally. From reading the comments it looked like some of his fans disagreed with it, but I think the majority of those I read were supportive and glad that he spoke up.

      His music wouldn’t have been my cup of tea many years ago in my early 20s but I’m glad my taste in music has expanded and evolved. Long Violent History made me tear up. Thanks for bringing him to our attention. I’ll keep listening.

    When Justice Scalia passed in 2016, Mitch said this: “The American people should have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court Justice. Therefore, this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new president.”

    And this is what Mitch said last night: “President Trump’s nominee will receive a vote on the floor of the United States Senate.”

    He’s making it clear: He’s always going to do whatever’s best for him and his political party. For Mitch, it’s never been about principles, or precedents, or rules, or laws—it’s only about power.

    He broke Washington, and now he’s willing to light our democracy on fire if he has to in order to get what he wants.

      A boring story about Mitch McConnell’s crappiness… in 2004 I was one of the WRHF’s USSYP delegates For Ky. At the time, Mitch was minority whip. The foundation held a meet and greet banquet for all the kids and their respective Senators. Tom Daschle, Hilary Clinton, Elizabeth Dole, the power-players and literally all the rest showed up; except good old Mitch! The group and I collectively referred to him as “good ol fish eyes” for the rest of the week. A play on his good ol boy ethics and power structure, and his over all “crappy-ness”

        Yes, Mama thought they were an abomination. It’s quite easy to make biscuits (the bread, not the cookie). I live alone and making a biscuits for one seems dumb and I buy a can or two of the little Pillsbury biscuits (and croissants which were acceptable to mother) in case I need bread. I really need to mask up and go to Panera for one of their super high calorie sandwiches. I love me a sandwich but this is something single people really can’t make from home that much because you’d have to buy a whole loaf of bread.

          I understand the dilemma of being single – I am widowed. Bread is either super fresh with no preservatives and doesn’t last very long at all or mass produced and still isn’t blue after a mth – WTH is in it?? I get the fresh every now & again, maybe 2X a yr & fresh butter and that’s a celebration for me 🙂

      I drove through Kenosha, Wisconsin yesterday. Charming lakeside city. Very diverse. Burned out cars in the parking lot of a car dealer. Boarded up buildings.

      No real, “Love is the answer,” signs. Plenty of, “Where is the justice here” signs.

      The agitators who came to disrupt BLM have scored silent votes for Trump. But you all know this. To see it up close is disheartening to say the least.

    Hi TT-It’s been almost a year since I have been here. I have been thinking of you lately and decided to stop by and see how it was going. Banjo 🙁 I am sorry…..I always loved hearing about him, despite all the chaos in the world. It’s tough when our best friends are old and ill.

    Before I respond to one particularly egregious thing Beets said, I say this having 3 police officers in my family, all cousins.

    “Treat police with respect as we are TAUGHT TO as children. Yes, ma’am; yes, sir. As you would address your parents. You can get a lawyer later if there is a problem.”

    I try to treat everyone with respect, even police. But at the end of the day, the police work for us. Some people have been shot for merely asking what they are being detained for. No one should have to kiss ass to stay alive.

    Sorry, Beets that you are unwilling to see the differences between how people of color are treated and everyone else. I mean look at Dylan Roof, he rolled up to a So. Carolina church, went in, prayed with them, then took out his AR15 and slaughtered 9 of them. He was a white supremist, but the police took him into custody and bought him a hamburger on the way to jail!!
    You and I both know had he been any other color but white he would have been gunned down.

    The other thing I find disgusting is the frequency of police killings whereby people of color are literally shot in the back. Why do you think that is O.K.? (rhetorical.)

    The other alarming thing I see is that when there appears to be sympathy gathering for a particular victim, The right wing blogs start in and dirty them up. Calling them criminals or drug dealers or all manner of awfulness. I mean they were the one that tortured the First Lady and Obama’s little girls for 8 years, but let someone just utters Baron fucking Trump’s name they all loose their damn minds!! It’s sickening!

    You don’t see Trump chancing nominating anyone too conservative? WHY??? I will tell you who he will nominate (75-80% chance) AMY CONEY BARRETT. Who is she?
    A conservative’s wet dream.

    Trump considered Barrett in 2018 to replace retired justice Anthony M. Kennedy, but reportedly said he was saving her for Ginsburg’s slot. Trump first nominated Barrett to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit in 2017. She has been groomed for years by the Federalist society.

    What would be the impact of Barrett’s religion on her rulings on issues such as Roe v. Wade?

    During her confirmation hearing to the appeals court, Barrett said in that role she would “follow all Supreme Court precedent without fail” and would regard decisions such as Roe v. Wade as binding precedent. HOWEVER, she has also said in the past that judges shouldn’t be held to upholding Supreme Court precedents, such as Roe v. Wade. Remember when Kavanaugh said something similar? He has already backtracked on that.

      It scares me shitless that due to the Hollywood Writers’ / Guild of America strike (circa 2007) and resulting dearth of comedic, soothing and comfortable programmes the cesspit of Reality TV errupted. At the the cusp of this lava of shit was “The Apprentice”. Somehow, the great American public felt that a weird, inarticulate, orange toned, candy flossed helmet headed teeny handed man had gravitas by the dint of yelling ‘You’re fired!” at randoms every week.

      No wonder Kanye thought he was up next.

        I’ve been sending $50 to Jaime Harrison (to defeat Lindsay Graham), Amy McGrath (to defeat Mitch McConnell), and Sara Gideon (to defeat Susan Collins) about every 2 weeks. I figure I can send them what I would have been spending if I hadn’t been in quarantine for 6 months. There isn’t anything more important right now than making sure trump and his enablers are defeated in November.

        Donated $100 each last night to Amy & Jamie – and 250 to JOE! The money will not go to waste because of the relief it gave me – to finally be doing something constructive. Not just complaining!

        I think more people are voting straight blue this year. Hopefully enough.

    On a personal note, the morning after Trump was elected, I called my 12 year old daughter over to tell her the news. She cried hoping he wouldn’t deport my mother. My mother is a naturalized citizen and has been for over 20 years. Daughter still didn’t trust him. While my mom has not been deported and shouldn’t be. She was on point, he isn’t trustworthy and had proven it endlessly. His lies exacerbated Covid and I haven’t seen my mom since February because she’s in an assisted living home is high risk as are all the residents in Phoenix where it’s out of control.

    What I find mindboggling is the moral compromises his supporters have to make. The bigotry and white supremacy. And yes, you bought the ticket, it’s your ride. You support those people because “there are good people on both sides” sorry but no. There are no good white supremacists.

    To be clear, Biden doesn’t support riots or violence toward police and has clearly stated it.

      My Son-in-laws mother has been here legally for years and has a valid green card. When DT was elected and she got a dose of his rhetoric she became terrified she may be deported from some lame reason. So much so she went and became a citizen.

      Speaking of “moral compass” the right has not said a single word about the outrage of forced hysterotomies that have been forced on undocumented women in ICE custody!!

      Maybe because kids in cages were no big deal?
