There are so many MAFS episodes and 90 Day Fiance episodes airing now, it is increasingly difficult to keep up with these MAFS recaps! It’s time for two more hours with the NOLA couples. I believe this episode we are going to see some “therapy” with the “experts.” At least these experts are better than the Aussie ones. The couples are all moving into their new apartments and they are all staying in the same complex.
Amelia & Bennett
These two love the new apartment. They need to get their stuff to move in so the couples get to see how their other half lives. Amelia lives in a giant mansion with four other roommates. It’s all very bohemian inside and has sort of a commune vibe. Bennett is a bit intimidated but the size of the place. Bennett lives in a tiny house. It’s like a shed in someone’s back yard. There is no bathroom or kitchen. It’s more of a jack shack he built. It’s not a cute tiny house. It’s more of a man cave. Amelia loves it though. Because, perfect couple.

Pastor Cal visits and I think he is going to love this couple as much as I do. The only issue with this couple is where Amelia gets a residency and if Bennett will follow her. Bennett says that is a bridge they will cross when they get there. Didn’t he already say he would follow her to her residency in a previous episode? I feel like this is a made up problem since they don’t really have real problems.
Karen & Miles
I’m back to hating Karen again. These two go to see Miles apartment. It’s really messy. That a thing for people with anxiety and depression. Don’t ask me how I know this. Miles probably has at least fifty pairs of shoes. Karen’s apartment is small and a bit cluttered. She has at least as many shoes as Miles does.

Pastor Cal stops in to check in with this couple and they need all the help they can get. Miles is happy and says that Karen feels like home, and a safe place. Karen says it is awkward when Miles gives her physical affection. Miles is very affectionate and it is weird to her. Karen is afraid to be hurt. She cries. That makes Miles feel some type of way. Karen’s ex of four years cheated on her and had a baby with someone else.
Christina & Henry
Christina and her over active libido annoy me. Also she immediately hates the new apartment and wants to rearrange all the furniture. Henry’s place is your basic bachelor pad. I get the impression that Christina lives in her car. For someone who may or may not live in her car, she sure has high expectations for moving the furniture around. And Henry isn’t doing it fast enough to suit. Oh! She’s a flight attendant. I forgot. That explains living out of her car.

Pastor Cal stops by to check on these two. Henry has a facial tic I have never noticed before. Christina tells Pastor Cal that she is not used to not being pursued. Henry says that Christina can be impatient and high maintenance. They have talked about any serious topics like finances and children. They really haven’t talked much at all.
Olivia & Brett
Olivia really wants Brett to move in to her apartment eventually. But when they go to look at it, he is underwhelmed. Olivia is super neat. Brett owns his house and he is quite proud of it. Brett is very messy. Olivia didn’t care for Brett’s house.

Pastor Cal stops by for a visit. I feel sorry for Olivia being stuck with Brett. He’s feeding Pastor Cal a bunch of crap. Olivia wants to travel the world but she doesn’t want to pay Brett’s way. Brett can’t afford to do that on his own. Brett wants her to budget. She’s also in debt. So she can’t afford the vacations she is taking. Basically, she’s a spender and Brett’s a saver. Olivia’s crying. Olivia is a bit weird.
Amani & Woody
Pastor Cal drops in on these two for a visit. He is pleased that they seem so happy with each other. But he does tell them they need to be using protection during sex. He also wants them to talk about deeper issues. Woody says he doesn’t like surprises. He uses the example of Amani cutting her long hair off. He would want to know that was coming before she did it. That’s fine. But then he said they should make decisions like that before hand. Amani got a bit hot about him saying she needed to clear her haircut with him ahead of time. And just like that there is trouble in paradise. Bu,t they quickly clear things up and get back on track.

Woody lives with his grandmother. This couple also has tons of shoes. Amani’s apartment is sort of clothes centric. She has a sewing machine and likes to sew.
So, to recap the only ones that seem to stand a chance here are Bennett & Amelia and Woody & Amani. The rest of them should just put themselves out of their misery now.
Is there a episode to start watching this season that I can avoid the pre wedding and wedding stuff. I get so bored with the repetitive “I decided to get MAFS because……..” Can starting with the honeymoons, or back from honeymoons, and first posts from T T be possible to know what is going on? Thanks.
If only recaps had titles…
?
?
I noticed the tic as well this episode. The more he discussed how irritated he was with Christina the more he twitched.
Yeah, it’s his tell for how much Christina is bugging the shit out of him at any given moment.
Especially when he found out about her living situation…
The whole clothes in the car thing is extremely fishy.
I thought so too until I remembered she’s a flight attendant. She probably lost her place in the flight attendant apartment when she took two months off, or the others didn’t want cameras in their flop house. Flight attendants tend to share apartments because they are never home.
Oh, right! That makes sense.
He wasn’t stressed at the beginning. Now he is. I watched a repeat of an earlier episode and there was NO sign of a twitch. He needs to run!
Olivia has me stumped. I’m not sure how to describe her, she seems all quiet and innocent but she’s actually pretty judgmental and high maintenance. She basically came right out and said she asked for someone with money.
Olivia came off at first as super sweet (verging on annoyingly sweet), but she is now showing herself to be very rigid. She wants things her way, and is not willing to compromise, though she is trying not to show it. Similarly, she clearly wants someone with money, but refuses to admit it. She says she doesn’t care about money, she just wants someone to live an expensive lifestyle with. Insert eye roll here. Brett made a really bad impression at the bachelor party, and as a result, I don’t believe anything he says, because truly, he has been pretty much behaving himself ever since. I don’t blame him for being put off by Olivia’s contempt for his house and lack of appreciation for the fact that he saved up enough to buy rather than rent.
Brett is a horrible person who can’t keep his dick in his pants, allegedly. BUT at least his is fiscally responsible and not only living within his means but has bought a house a single person (which isn’t easy if you need a loan) and is already planning for retirement. Everyone wants to travel the world all the time Christina. But you have gone into debt doing that when it wasn’t necessary, I did it as a school teacher. You save, and you don’t stay in five start hotels and don’t go until you have the money to do so. You also need to live in a hovel and eat ramen so that you can have a couple of weeks a year to live the good life. Or you marry rich. Which is the route you should have taken. But I get the feeling you tried that already and it didn’t work. Brett’s a dick, and I am starting to feel sorry for HIM in this situation.
I just had an aha moment! With all the $$$ Brett saves on serial dating and partying he will be able to afford one trip a year, no? I should be one of the experts. ?
ha! And why is this showing up as a first time comment? Oh I think you spelled your email wrong.
I’m enjoying this season better than most.
Can’t wait for Brett to show his true nasty self.
What a bunch of weirdos.
Bennett and wife are too perfect.
Don’t trust Woody, at all.
Karen is awful. They’re dunzo. She needs someone to take care of her and so does he.
Christina is just about to jump Henry’s bones and he is scared to death. That man wants to run away.
Loving it.
I LOVE WOODY!
Anyone else notice that Karen seemed to take on Amani’s quiet and thoughtful personality towards Miles on this episode?
Henry and Christina are not matched well. She is unbelievably Type A and he’s maybe a Type C? Or D? He needs someone much more mellow. I don’t think she’s attracted to him, I just think she wants to get laid but will criticize him anyway. No place to live? Give me a break. She’s living in her car cuz no roommates can tolerate her. Meanwhile, something bugs me about Woody. Could be a cheater. Bennet and wife bug me in a strange way like stop trying so hard to be different. That cave he lives in is frightening. No bathroom? Seriously? Can you imagine getting up to pee in the middle of the night and having to meander your way into the main house? Does he get a lot of overnight visitors or what? She seems very nice but I’m hoping her lack of personal hygiene is due to vacation mode cuz if my Dr. walked in the room with uncombed, unwashed hair, I’d run for the hills. I must be a snob. Karen is too judgmental. Something is off about Brett and Olivia. She’s really high maintenance and seems spoiled. And he’s hiding something. Another bad match. And yet, I can’ stop watching…..
I don’t think Bennett bothers going to the main house to pee ?
I believe Christina and Brett and Henry and Olivia are better suited. The experts got it wrong on this one!
Oh! That makes so much sense. Why are viewers always smarter than the “experts” ? But I really don’t think any of these guys are on Olivia’s level.
I love Amelia and Bennett. They make me laugh every time. Compare Amelia’s reaction to Bennett’s tiny house (appreciating how cool it is that he built it himself) to the other ladies’ reactions to their husbands’ homes (looking at you, Olivia and Christina).
I would love to be as cool as Amani all the time. She’s my favourite individual on the show.
I like her too!
It makes me really uncomfortable to watch Christina and Henry. Soooo awkward. I can’t believe Christina lied when she said she lived in the Central Business Center when, in reality, it appears that she lives out of her car. Weird. And it makes me even more uncomfortable watching Olivia and Brett. Olivia is prissy; Brett does not care for Olivia. Period. No go. Look, I don’t have a degree in psychology, but I would DEFINITELY know not to match these two couples. They have NOTHING in common. Amelia and Bennett are a delight. He didn’t seem embarrassed that he had neither a bathroom nor a kitchen to offer, and Amelia wasn’t either. Good for them! Karen and Miles seem to be having a strained go if it. I wouldn’t bet on long-term success with these two either. But I still can’t wait for Wednesday’s show lol.
I like Henry. I think we’ll see more of his personality as the season progresses. He’s got a really dry sense of humor. Just cause he’s quiet doesn’t make him stupid. He just doesn’t like Christina – me and production agree.
Olivia is rigid and a bit cold. I never saw her as sweet and in need of protection. Brett’s ability to live well and own a home on his salary is commendable. It’s not what you make, it’s what you spend. He could loosen up a bit on entertainment. Olivia’s rented house was no better furnished than brett’s from what I saw. but yet she kept a stank face the whole time at his place. They are not a match bc their values just aren’t aligned, oh and zero chemistry. Nothing is wrong w wanting a spouse on the same financial level, btw. But their unwillingness to bend is not a good sign.
I like Amani and the way she handles Woody. I liked woody better in the beginning but now not so much. He’s a bit immature and Something abt him seems disingenuous. It’ll be interesting to see how they grow together.
Karen and Miles – Meh, They both have issues. She needs to heal and he needs to stop people pleasing. You can’t pour from an empty cup.
Amelia and Bennett – they annoy me so I ff’d through their scenes. I agree with @Gigi upthread. You both are weird and don’t care abt hygeine – we get it already. Lol.
I have to say as a realtor doctors houses were the messiest/dirtiest I ever saw. These guys just reminded me of that. Had to clean it before all showings.
