First of all, thanks to all of you who sent me various links to this news yesterday instead of posting about it in random comments. Whenever stories are published about someone leaving a housewives show, headlines are posted about someone quitting or being fired. Rarely or either of those statements true. So when you asked me if Dorinda really quit RHONY, or if Dorinda really got fired, I have no idea. What I do have is a way to find out.
The Boring Personal Stuff
Yesterday was a particularly difficult day for a multitude of reasons. Then, we had a five hour power outage. During that time there were a lot of sirens. Oddly there is nothing on NextDoor and people complain about every firework display and question every every siren. I guess once it was over no one cared? Oh it looks like an 18 wheeler jacknifed and knock out a power pole or something. Did I mention it was also pouring rain?
Anyway, a reminder very few people “get fired” from these shows in the technical sense. They have contracts for the season and usually have options for four more seasons for a total of five. They do this because people start to feel themselves after a year or two as a “reality star” and want their pay renegotiated and someone to remove all the brown M & Ms from their M & M bag for them. Figuratively speaking.
The Exclusive Tea
When it comes to RHONY pickup letters have not even gone out yet. But it seems like Dorinda was already making demands or doing something to cause her to get the news before everyone else. She was given the Vicki, Tamra, Nene treatment. Shed Media offered her a friend role to wrap up her story line for the upcoming season. And just like the four that came before her, she was offended and declined. So was she fired? No. Did she quit? Not exactly. It’s just sometimes people get too big for their britches and refuse to take the easy money laying on the table. It made me think of how savvy Kenya Moore was in handling her situation.
